“Scream” Promos Profile the Jock, Fool, Innocent and Loner

While Kevin Williamson’s script for Wes Craven’s Scream was clever in joshing on the cliches in horror, MTV’s attempting the same with the new “Scream” series, premiering on June 30th.

Four character profiles have been released that detail the Jock, Fool, Innocent and Loner. The only problem is, they all look like one of the “cool kids” to me. At least the original Scream was profiling horror tropes, while, for whatever reason, the series is focused on characterization. The irony is that, in the first episode, they fail awkwardly.

While neither Trace nor myself hated the debut pilot presentation, we were both left disappointed and hoping for more in the coming episodes (read my review; here’s Trace’s review).

In “Scream,” “What starts as a YouTube video going viral, soon leads to problems for the teenagers of Lakewood and serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town’s troubled past.

The cast of “Scream” includes Willa Fitzgerald, Taylor-Klaus, Bobby Campo, Connor Weil and Joel Gretsch.
