Tim Van Patten, who has directed episodes of “The Sopranos”, “Game of Thrones”, “Rome”, “Deadwood”, “The Wire”, and “Boardwalk Empire”, is behind Netflix’s “Hang the DJ” episode of the fourth season of “Black Mirror”.
Georgina Campbell (Flowers, Broadchurch), Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders, Green Room), George Blagden (Versailles, Vikings) star in the episode that’s about dating apps and how they can go wrong. What we don’t know is how these futuristic devices work and the dark side they will bring.
As for a launch date? Netflix still won’t tell, but you have to think within the next few weeks.
“Black Mirror” is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us.
