“Black Mirror” Riffs On “Star Trek” With the “U.S.S. Callister” Trailer

“Dr. Who” “Sherlock” director Toby Haynes is doing something unorthodox with his episode of “Black Mirror”, spoofing the famed “Star Trek” television series.

In “USS Callister”, join Captain Daly (Jesse Plemons of “Friday Night Lights” and “Fargo”) and his trusty crew as they explore the galaxy and the dangers of unknown alien planets.

Cristin Milioti (The Wolf of Wall Street, Fargo), Jimmi Simpson (“Westworld”, “House of Cards”), and Michaela Coel (Chewing Gum, Monsters: Dark Continent) also star.

“Black Mirror” is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us.

The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker, and executive produced by Brooker and Annabel Jones.

Can’t wait for the new season. I’ll be surprised if they ever top San Junipero from the last, but if they even come close it’ll be an epic season.

    • I read somewhere that this one may be the best of Black Mirror so far, but I can’t see it topping San Junipero.

Yeah, that was pretty much flat out the best episode of television I’ve seen. Even better than DS9’s The Visitor. Totally had a major 2000AD vibe to it which helped.
