Jessica Henwick (“Game of Thrones“) has been cast as sword-slinging master Colleen Wing on Marvel’s “Iron Fist“. Marvel TV’s fourth series for Netflix, “Iron Fist” is expected to shoot this summer in New York City, ahead of an early 2017 premiere. Wing has long been a hero (she debuted in 1974) fighting alongside the likes of Iron Fist (Finn Jones), Luke Cage (Mike Coulter), and Misty Knight (Simone Missick) in the comics, so it will be nice to see her arrive on Netflix right behind them all. Knight will be making her debut on “Luke Cage” and rumor has it that Iron Fist will as well. Wing will not arrive until the “Iron Fist” series, much like fellow martial arts master Shang Chi.
Raelle Tucker (“The Returned“) has joined Marvel’s “Jessica Jones” as an executive producer and writer for its upcoming second season. She replaces Liz Friedman, who has left the series to run her own show, ABC’s “Conviction“. Tucker will be working alongside showrunner Melissa Rosenberg to hash out Jessica Jones’ (Krysten Ritter) next run, which is expected to arrive in 2017. No details for the show’s sophomore season direction have been released at this time, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if it focused on the secret experiments that brought about Jessica’s powers, as well as the clandestine super-solider program that the now-deranged Will Simpson (Wil Traval) is taking part in.
Lastly, those of you who have been impatiently waiting for a home video release date to be announced for Fox’s Deadpool can rejoice. Whether you’ve been itching to revisit it or finally see it for the first time, the Merc with the Mouth’s first solo cinematic adventure will arrive on Blu-ray/DVD/digital download on May 10th. Plan your chimichanga-filled party accordingly.
