According to Deadline, Pedro Pascal (“Game of Thrones“) has been cast as American gunslingin’ superspy Jack Daniels in Fox’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle. He will presumably be the #1 agent for The Statesman, the American counterpart of The Kingsman, which is run by Ginger (Halle Berry). After an attack on Kingsman HQ by the forces of the villainous Poppy (Julianne Moore), our hero Eggsy “Galahad” Unwin (Taron Egerton) and his cohort Merlin (Mark Strong) will be heading across the pond to America for their help. Production is slated to begin this summer.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but so far I love absolutely everything that I am hearing and seeing in regards to this follow-up. Vaughn’s first film isn’t perfect, but it remains my favorite comic book film of 2015 and an absolute blast of a movie. From the looks of things, this wild, irreverent take on franchises like James Bond, “The Man From UNCLE“, and “The Avengers” will just as bonkers and bombastic in its second outing and I couldn’t be happier.
Furthermore, it appears that Jack Daniels and Eggsy Unwin won’t be the only superspies gracing the screen in this Kingsman: The Secret Service sequel. A post from actor Taron Egerton’s Twitter account yesterday teased the return of Colin Firth‘s Harry Hart. In what form he will be returning is anyone’s guess at this point (flashback? resurrection? hero? villain?), but it just goes to show that you can’t keep a good spy down…
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is set to arrive in theaters on June 17, 2017. Based on the characters and concept created by Mark Millar & Dave Gibbons, this sequel is directed by Matthew Vaughn, from a script by Vaughn & Jane Goldman. It stars Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal, Edward Holcroft, and Colin Firth.
