Details are still to come, but Juliet is back in a new Lollipop Chainsaw game! Publisher Dragami Games announced that the game’s demo will be playable at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, with Sega serving as the game’s distribution partner in Japan and Southeast Asia. No platforms or release date have been announced, nor has the game’s official title.

First teased last year, not much info has been revealed so far regarding the new entry. However, those who are able to make it to TGS and play the demo will take home a keychain, and all booth visitors can also receive a logo sticker.

Peach Milky, the official ambassador for the series, will appear at the booth in a new costume of the main character, Juliet. The booth will also feature a photo spot that recreates the world of the new game.

The booth will also feature a photo spot that recreates the world of the new game, featuring a life-sized chainsaw exhibit that will have LED lights that make the chain appear to rotate, and will also feature engine sounds and a mechanism that changes the engine’s revving level in conjunction with accelerator.

Dragami is also planning a two-day event on September 18 and 19 entitled “Lollipop Chainsaw NEW PROJECT”, where in addition to cosplayer Peach Milky, the producer and development team will be taking the stage to introduce the new game and talk about its development.

Fans of dungeon crawlers can look forward to Team Lazerbeam and Devolver Digital’s Shroom and Gloom, their upcoming hand-drawn fungal roguelike. Launching on September 10 into Early Access on Steam, you can get a taste of what’s to come with the demo that’s currently available on the game’s Steam page. In addition, the devs offer a deep dive into the game alongside the release date announcement.

Shroom and Gloom is a unique roguelike about exploring the depths of hand-drawn dungeons, while utilizing hundreds of cards spread across two distinct decks to unleash synergies and combos on hordes of grotesque fungal foes. Every enemy you encounter is edible, every attack is infinitely upgradeable, and every run is an opportunity for unprecedented levels of card-based chaos.

Use the Explore deck to reveal, search, break, unlock, ignite, feed and fix as you head even deeper into the game’s dungeons. There, you’ll make use of the Combat deck to hack, slash, roast and eat the fungal foes that stand between you and the mysterious underground realm known as The Gloom.

As mentioned, the game has a couple of unique ways for players to grow and modify their cards infinitely. You can grow low level starting cards into over-powered attacks, or modify rare cards into game-breaking super-weapons.

Seeing as your foes are fungi, Shroom and Gloom features a bounty of ways for you to season, skewer or roast your foes, then eat them to restore lost health. Or, if you’d like, you can throw your roasted enemies into a pot, and cook up some game-changing soups.

It’s all tied together by the game’s hand-drawn art, which is mixed with 3D spaces to present a surreal, visually striking world of mushrooms and madness.

Currently, the team plans on having Shroom and Gloom in Early Access for “between 12 and 24 months” to further expand the game with a new pathway, featuring new Explore and Combat cards, new character classes, and additional quests and challenges.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water. Tripwire Interactive and developer Demiurge Studios have announced a sequel to their 2020 “ShaRkPG” with Maneater 2, coming next year to PC via Steam and the Epic Gamest Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and the Nintendo Switch 2. Revealed during Sony State of Play this morning, players once again take on the role of a shark looking to eat, explore and ultimately evolve their way to freedom.

Maneater 2 takes place during an invite-only preview event for Neptune’s Kingdom, an ultra-luxury private island theme park. Described by the park’s CEO Victor Reardon as “your exclusive gateway to the grandeur of Ancient Rome”—and attractively branded as such—the park combines the excess of Las Vegas with the whimsy of Anaheim, aiming to be the type of gargantuan venture that’s the first of its kind.

Obviously, that leaves plenty of opportunity for you to chow down.

Maneater fans will be pleased to know that Trip Westhaven is back (once again voiced by Chris Parnell) as your go-to source for color commentary and one-sided conversations. And as before, you’ll earn experience and evolve your shark as you complete objectives and gain experience.

On the heels of its launch last week, Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio have decided to give fence-sitters a little nudge with a new trailer for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, touting its reviews. Much like Luiz stated in his review, Resonance has received praise by press and players for its emotional journey, captivating world and fresh take on the franchise.

In addition, the game’s original score by composer Olivier Derivière is now available on streaming platforms. You can find Resonance’s OST on several platforms including Spotify and Apple Music here, as well as on Olivier Derivière’s YouTube channel.

Staying true to what made the success of the previous entries in the series, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy delivers an emotional story-driven adventure, mixing dynamic combats, exploration and environmental puzzles. Resonance offers a new perspective on the beloved universe created by Asobo Studio. Players will uncover Sophia’s origins while exploring a parallel story set during the Minoan era, revealing long-buried secrets connected to the island and shedding new light on the origins of the Macula itself.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is currently available for the Xbox Series, Xbox Game Pass, as well as PlayStation 5 and Steam.

Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have released the second major update for John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando with the Retrieval Update that’s now live for PC and consoles. Free for all players, the update introduces the new Retrieval Mode for the most seasoned soldiers, where you must collect relics and reach an extraction point before hordes of zombies get to you.

Retrieval Mode opens up new ways to play for everyone: pick a map, collect relics, and reach an extraction point before hordes of zombies catch up to you. But move fast, or you’ll draw the attention of the Sludge, who wants you dead. The new mode is currently playable on four maps: Church of the Damned, High Octane, Impasse, and Demon Bait.

Alongside the new mode, the Retrieval Update includes several gameplay additions:

  • New zombies to fight – Goblins: These small enemies come in groups, attack the same target, and can revive each other as long as one of the three remains alive.
  • Four new ways to purge the zombie invasion: New weapons and tools include the Le Clairon assault rifle, the Flamethrower, the Thunderstick, and the Saw Trap, which tears the infected apart.
  • A batch of upgrades for day-to-day missions: New fixes and updates have been implemented, including the ability to dash, Trials Season 2, PC local servers, plus vehicle and bot improvements.

And for those cosmetic collectors, launching alongside the free update is the Cosmetic Pack 2 DLC, which is included in the Bloody Season Pass. Players can unlock unique skins and headgear for each character, as well as weapon and vehicle skins, all inspired by the almighty Sludge God. New profile titles and icons are also available to scare the infected away. Or perhaps you can convince them to join your side?

If the new update wasn’t enough, Toxic Commando will be doing a little crossover with Fortnite! Walter Irons will be dropping into Fortnite for all owners of John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando on the Epic Games Store, starting on September 5 at 8 p.m. EDT / 5 p.m. PDT / 2 a.m. CEST.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

IllFonic has released another video delving into the upcoming Halloween: The Game, this time focusing on the game’s progression and customization. The asymmetrical title is designed for “rich player progression, rewards and customization”,  ranging from cosmetics to gameplay unlocks.

Similar to the game’s currency system, players earn experience points by completing matches or progressing in the story mode. This experience will apply to one of four level categories: profile, killer, civilian, and weapon. Profile level encompasses all gained XP. Killer level is centered around playing as Michael, much like civilian level is tied to playing as civilians. Lastly, weapon level is tied to players using specific equipable weapons to dispatch their victims.

Increasing your progression levels will unlock new playable civilians, additional abilities for Michael, starting items, cosmetics, new challenge tiers, new executions, and more.

Along with the progression system, there are passive and progressive challenges for those who play as Michael, or as one of the civilians. Passive challenges encompass killer and civilian, while progressive challenges are directly tied to which character you select. Completing challenges will unlock further cosmetics and alternate skins.

Halloween: The Game launches digitally on September 8 for the PlayStation 5Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. A physical version will launch for the PS5 and Xbox Series next month on October 6.

Half Past Yellow’s unique survival horror experience in Stream Train will launch on October 15. In addition to the release date announcement, players can now register for an upcoming playtest directly on the game’s official Steam page, which will take place between September 11th and September 14th.

Stream Train challenges up to six players to band together, customize their avatars, and take control of an old steam train to explore the cryptid-infested wilderness of the Uncanny Valley. The name of the game is to go viral by livestreaming your rail journey through an abandoned railroad, investigating derelict buildings, and documenting strange creatures.

Survival depends on more than just outrunning the supernatural. You’ll need to keep your audience engaged by capturing content and pulling off pranks, as your chat will react in real-time to everything they see. By keeping the content flowing, chatters will keep donations and support rolling in, which are vital for making it through alive. Through it all, players will face terrors where the rule is simple: try not to make them angry, or at least film it when you do.

According to Half Past Yellow CEO Remy Stuurwold, the devteam has “poured their heart and soul” into Stream Train, and can’t wait to get it to players. The game’s director, Max Wrighton, adds that, “I have always wanted to build a game with livestreaming as a mechanic, pairing it with the social co-op/friendslop genre made complete sense. I can’t wait to see what players think of Stream Train.”

No Rest for the Wicked fans itching for the game’s full launch will sadly have to wait until next year. Originally scheduled to leave Early Access on Steam next month, Moon Studios has announced that the 1.0 release is being delayed to March 2027 for PC and PlayStation 5. Meanwhile, the release date details for the Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are “to be determined.”

Moon Studios Creative Director Thomas Mahler made the announcement in a new video, explaining that the extra time in Early Access will allow the development team to further polish the game, as well as add the many enhancements expected in the 1.0 version.

The added development time will allow the team at Moon to improve gameplay performance, tighten the class system and polish the game to the standard it deserves. As a way to make up for the delay, the team plans on holding additional closed beta tests in the months ahead, followed by an open beta in December. This will allow the community to provide further feedback during a crucial stretch of development.

Furthermore, as part of developer’s continued commitment to working directly with its player community, the team plans to provide further updates in part via the ongoing Wicked Inside video developer diaries. These longer, more intimate looks at No Rest for the Wicked allow the team to share more details about the development, and in the format that is most relevant to the game’s progress.

Previously, Moon Studios also shared that early buyers would receive the Founders Pack, a special set of in-game items as thanks for their incredible support. The original cutoff date for purchasing the game and earning that Founders Pack was July 10. That cutoff date has now been moved to January 1, 2027 for Steam players, with anyone who purchased after July 10 retroactively included. PlayStation 5 pre-orders will begin in January, allowing those players to earn the Founders Pack.

If you’ve ever wanted to take on the role of a plague doctor (and then some), The Planar Danse has your game with their newly-announced paranormal investigator RPG, Blight Doctors. Coming to Steam in Q1 2027, players take on the role of an occult detective & gravekeeper, banishing ghosts and curing plagues in co-op play. Currently, you can sign up for future playtests via the Steam page.

As a grave-watcher & occultist, you have come to the plagued-ridden city of Seracheim, which has seen many risen corpses , but not a single sunrise in many years. Using your skills as an exorcist, you must stem the tide of curses that afflict the city, with the hopes of turning the tide against apocalypse at any cost.

In order to accomplish your mission, you’ll need to deduce and banish. When you discover what sort of spirit haunts Seracheim, you alone must be the one to exorcise it, by any means necessary. Exorcise spirits and excise the rot within the city, and you’ll see every character and building react each night to the changing set of curses and your choices.

Each successive night in the city will see a new set of hand-crafted, procedurally-placed stories and curses fill the city streets. These narrative pieces all interact, and can take the shape of plagues, monsters, haunts, and mysteries.

Blight Doctors is a co-op game at its core, balanced for 1-5 players. Share clues, split up, or protect each other with lantern light and salt lines. You can also perform medicinal cures and mix elixirs for each other. If you should die on your quest, you can haunt your fellow plague doctors as a ghost, and continue to collect clues. Of course, when others die, you can use their corpses for experimentation, or for offering to demons.

A day after giving players access to the Steam Workshop in Terminus, Longplay Studios has revealed the game’s sequel, Terminus: Zombie Survivors 2. Coming to Steam, Zombie Survivors 2 will once again place players in an open-world zombie survival situation, but this time demanding more of its players than the original game.

Playable either solo or with friends in online co-op, this time around, things just got tougher. Your food has to be scavenged and cooked, a fire has to be kept burning through rain, snow, and cold, and at night, a flashlight beam is sometimes all that stands between a survivor and what’s waiting in the dark. Survivors comb the shelves and cabinets of abandoned homes for anything worth taking, and craft and build with whatever the old world left behind.

Players roam a small town and the lonely roadside stops around it, overrun by the dead: motels, diners, gas stations, supermarkets, churches, and hospitals, each hiding supplies, dangers, and traces of the people who didn’t make it. Exploration plays a bigger role this time around, with a world that stretches from the town center out to the woods and highways beyond it.

The dead also up their ante, coming in every form. From a lone shambler in a hallway to crowds in the streets and far larger things that shouldn’t exist.

“For the sequel, we went deeper into survival itself: what it actually takes to stay fed, warm, and alive when the world is gone. Every system in the game is designed to make that struggle matter,” says Shin In-geon, lead developer at Longplay Studios.

Taking a break from ratings shenanigans, IllFonic have revealed the East Haddonfield map for Halloween: The Game, which is one of the four maps launching with the game next week. In this case, the new trailer allows players to get an in-depth look at the map that marks Michael’s first stop after escaping Smith Grove Sanitarium.

Compared to neighborhoods like Orange Grove Estates and Haddonfield Town Center, East Haddonfield is a rustic change of scenery. Described as a rural agricultural hub, East Haddonfield serves as the headquarters for Midwest Feed Company, and is home to other notable landmarks, such as The Rabbit in Red Lounge and Phelps Garage.

Following his escape from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium, Michael begins his journey home in East Haddonfield. Some residents and commuters avoid making pit stops here, as East Haddonfield attracts unsavory individuals like the biker gang, the Castle Hill Rooks. The Rabbit in Red Lounge offers the gang a rowdy, leather-clad biker bar that’s seen its fair share of broken beer bottles and bareknuckle brawls, while Phelps Garage offers excellent automotive services and the best gas prices around, not that you have many options out there.

Halloween: The Game launches digitally on September 8 for the PlayStation 5Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. A physical version will launch for the PS5 and Xbox Series next month on October 6.

ProbablyMonsters has your Fall dark fantasy fix today with their bloody Gothic action-adventure RPG Crimson Moon out now on PC via Steam and the Epic Games StorePlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Enter the fallen city of Gildenarch, master its brutal combat, build your arsenal, and take on the horrors waiting within its Wards — either alone or alongside another Nephilim in 2-player online co-op.

“Getting Crimson Moon to this moment has been an incredible journey, and we want to thank every one of you who has wishlisted the game, joined our community, shared your feedback, played at events, or simply followed us along the way,” reads the message from the devteam. They’ve already begun working on post-launch content, as well as a post-launch patch to address any issues that players may encounter.

Crimson Moon is a gothic high renaissance action-adventure RPG built around intense, replayable missions. Players take on the role of the Nephilim, ruthless human-angel hybrids forged to defend humanity. They’re immersed in a blood-soaked power fantasy as they battle their way through the besieged city of Gildenarch using combat that blends brutal precision with deep character progression.

Built for either solo or co-op play, with solo slayers getting a satisfying single-player experience, and co-op turning every encounter into a “shared onslaught of power and resilience.” Players who are strong and skilled enough to fight through three districts of Gildenarch in a row will face a world boss. These epic foes will test players’ mastery of their abilities. Only by defeating the three world bosses can players face the hellish final boss.

If you watched The Horror Game Awards Showcase earlier this year, you probably caught developer Ctrl Freak’s upcoming first-person survival horror game, Lurking. Planned for release later this year on Steam, you can get a sense of what to expect with the recently-released demo, which is actually a more polished version of the demo that was originally released on the game’s itch.io page.

Lurking sees you taking care of your pet spiders. However, just what happens when your pets grow out of control… and begin lurking in the hallways of your apartment building? You’ll need to stay low, stay quiet, and stick to the shadows. If you can keep it together, you might be able to find a way out.

You’re not defenseless against your former pets. You’ll need to utilize improvised, homemade weapons to fight back against these eight-legged freaks in order to survive. However, that’s only part of the problem, as you’ll need to find keys and tools in order to progress through the building. What you do, and how you do it, will lead to one of the game’s multiple endings.

The spiders that lurk the hallways feature “dynamic” behavior that reacts to your actions, coupled with a procedural animation system for “highly realistic spider movement” for you arachnid lovers (and haters). It’s all presented in PSX-inspired pixelated visuals to complete the “modern horror atmosphere”.

If there was any worry about the future of State of Decay 3 and Undead Labs after this past summer’s break-up from Xbox, that’s been put to bed. Not only have Undead Labs announced the registrations for the game’s closed beta (which you can head here to sign up), but have also dropped nearly seven minutes of alpha gameplay footage at Gamescom (courtesy of GameSpot).

“We’re going to be expanding our alpha and then closed beta to more players over time, this is our largest map ever and with untethered multiplayer, we really need to take the opportunities to stress-test and fine-tune,” said Kevin Patzelt, Creative Director at Undead Labs. Patzelt added that if you don’t get in this first round of sign-ups, rest assured that there will be more opportunities throughout the year for players to join in.

According to the announcement, the each playtest is designed to feed directly back into the game’s development. That includes things such as balancing co-op combat encounters, to fine-tuning how the game’s new permadeath system affects remaining players. In particular, the game’s narrative systems are being developed to cater to the permadeath mechanic, making a player’s death “actually means something” for the rest of the survivors.

State of Decay 3 will launch in 2027 on the Xbox Series, PC via the Microsoft Store and Steam, Xbox Game Pass, and the PlayStation 5.

The ratings game continues to be a sore spot for IllFonic and Halloween: The Game. After the whole thing with Australia and New Zealand, it’s apparently now Japan’s turn, as the game has now been denied a CERO rating for the PlayStation version. As a result, the game will not be getting a Japanese release for the PlayStation 5.

IllFonic relayed the news to fans via X, stating that while the game will release digitally as scheduled next week for the Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store in Japan, the PlayStation release has been cancelled “due to our inability to obtain a domestic rating from CERO (Computer Entertainment Rating Organization) for the title’s visceral violence and nudity.”

IllFonic stated that in order for the Halloween PS5 version to be released in Japan in compliance with CERO, they would need to “significantly compromise the worldview of the original film, and would also prevent us from providing the gameplay experience that players expect.”

Those Japanese fans who pre-ordered the PS5 version will be eligible for refunds, though they’ll need to go through the PlayStation Store. It’s not clear as to why the PC and Xbox versions are allowed to release.

Halloween: The Game will launch digitally on September 8 (September 9 in Japan). The physical release will launch on October 6.

Players will experience the grimdark action of Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun II this Halloween season, which the Auroch Digital’s throwback FPS launches for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series on October 14. The game will also be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.

In addition to the release date announcement, Boltgun II received a new trailer, showcasing the first footage of the game’s main antagonist, Vashtorr, daemonic demigod of inventors, engineers, scientists and artisans. The trailer also features a “first-listen teaser” of the original musical track created for Boltgun 2 by guest composer Mick Gordon (DOOM (2016), DOOM Eternal, Wolfenstein: The New Order).

Traveling to an isolated star system to check on reports of increased Chaos activity, playable characters Ultramarine Malum Caedo and Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath soon find themselves facing the wrath of Vashtorr the Arkifane. A demigod of immense power, Vashtorr awakens a vast daemonic machine at the centre of the planet, causing a catastrophic explosion and destroying much of the Imperial fleet. Now Malum and Nyra must race from world to world to cleanse the corruption powering Vashtorr’s daemonic machinations – and to stand a chance of banishing the demigod back to the Warp.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 continues where the original Boltgun left off, bringing unrepentant strafing action and increased variety of killer weapon selection to fans. Battle fan-favorite foes like the sassy plague-spreading Nurglings and Chaos Cultists, as well as all-new enemies. The ferocious Bloodletters and their bloodthirsty Juggernauts are just the beginning. Greater terrors await in the Emperor’s endless war.

The June Steam Next Fest demo is still available to download.

Developer Friday Sundae has announced that their upcoming Lovecraftian renovation title There Are No Ghosts at the Grand will launch into Early Access for PC via Steam and Microsoft Store in December. A full release will follow for Xbox Series and Steam. As well, a new demo will be available as part of October’s Steam Next Fest.

The release window and demo announcements weren’t the only news for There Are No Ghosts at the Grand, as Friday Sundae also revealed that the game will feature Billy Boyd (The Lord of the Rings) as MacBrushy, a talking and singing Scottish power tool.

In a press release, Boyd stated that the character was fun to play. “He’s funny, a little rude, and doesn’t mince his words! but there’s a lot more to him than it might seem at first. As the story develops, you gradually see different sides of him, and it’s clear that he has some hidden depths and maybe a few secrets too. Working with Friday Sundae, we’ve been developing MacBrushy’s voice and personality, and he’s got a song or two to sing as well, which has been fun to do in character.”

“MacBrushy started out as a bit of a joke about Clippy, but underneath that he’s really a father figure, drawn from the different kinds of dads and father figures I knew growing up in Scotland,” explains Friday Sundae co-founder and creative director Anil Glendinning. “He can give you brilliant advice and genuinely look out for you, but he can also lose his patience and let you know when you’ve annoyed him. Billy really understood that balance. He makes MacBrushy funny, warm and occasionally infuriating, which is exactly who we wanted him to be.”

There Are No Ghosts at the Grand has players take on the role of Chris David, an American who unexpectedly inherits a crumbling English seaside hotel. By day, Chris must renovate the Grand and help restore the surrounding village of Kingswood-on-Sea. By night, those same locations begin to reveal something stranger beneath the wallpaper, broken windows, and fading paint.

Oh, and you also wield talking power tools for your renovation tasks. Those same tools transform into weapons against the supernatural at night. You’ll use the vacuum on vengeful spirits, expose invisible assailants with the paint sprayer, or subdue spooks with a well-aimed bookcase to the face using the furniture cannon.

Ahead of the October demo, you can currently delve into last year’s version, which is available on Steam.

With 1666: Amsterdam out now in Early Access, Panache Digital Games has released its third and final Developer Diary for the action RPG, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the music and sound design of the game. Featuring singer-songwriter Jorane, the episode explores the creative process behind the soundtrack, the instruments and techniques used by the team, and how Amsterdam itself influenced the music and sounds heard throughout the game.

The Developer Diary introduces the artists behind the sound of 1666: Amsterdam, and the process behind its musical identity, including why Jorane became a natural choice for the project. The episode also explores how music and sound change across characters, time periods and districts of Amsterdam. Protagonists Noa and Aaron each have their own musical theme, reflecting their different perspectives within the game.

The video also looks at the instruments and audio techniques used throughout production, and how the city of Amsterdam itself influenced the game’s music and sound design. Lastly, the episode features footage from the 1666: Amsterdam Preview Event in July, where Jorane performed music from the game live.

1666: Amsterdam is now available in Early Access on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game will continue to evolve throughout Early Access, with player feedback helping the team refine and expand the experience as development continues.

Dark Trip, independent game studio iWorlds’ mix of psychological horror with a dash of Lovecraft, will launch on Steam and Meta Quest on October 29, which coincidentally is during Valve’s annual Halloween festival, Steam Scream. Currently, the game is in Early Access on Meta Quest, while those PC players itching to check the game out now can apply for the closed playtest on Steam.

The game puts players in the role of an investigator hired to find a missing woman in a small German town. The investigation leads to an abandoned laboratory filled with grotesque biomechanical machinery, occult devices, disturbing artwork and evidence of experiments that should never have happened. The deeper the investigation goes, the less reliable reality becomes.

Players must explore interconnected escape rooms, collect evidence, decipher strange mechanisms and deliberately switch between ordinary perception and hallucination in order to discover what is hidden from sober eyes.

The game draws on Lovecraftian horror, surrealism, occult imagery and disturbing visions — while deliberately refusing to treat altered consciousness as merely a visual effect.

“We wanted to make a game where hallucinations are not decoration — they are a gameplay mechanic,” said Andrey Klenin, the creative director and developer of Dark Trip. “The player has to decide when to trust reality and when to deliberately destroy their own perception of it. That is what makes Dark Trip fundamentally different from a conventional horror game.”

On Steam, players will be able to experience the complete game using traditional keyboard-and-mouse or controller controls, or switch to a more immersive version through SteamVR. Meanwhile on Meta Quest, Dark Trip will continue its evolution as a native VR horror experience, before finally leaving Early Access phase in October.

Switch 2 owners won’t have to feel left out with Frogwares’ The Sinking City 2, as the developer will be bringing the survival horror game to Nintendo’s console next year. Frogwares made the announcement late last week as part of the Future Games Show, complete with a new trailer.

Released a few weeks back for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, The Sinking City 2 is set in a Lovecraftian vision of 1920s America. Taking place in the infamous city of Arkham, a supernatural flood has driven out all but the most deranged residents, leaving decay and eldritch horrors that roam the streets. Players step into the role of Calvin Rafferty (voiced by Andrew Wheildon-Dennis), an occult adventurer whose cavalier actions have led to devastating consequences.

After a dreaming ritual goes wrong, his girlfriend, the gutsy Faye Bennett (voiced by Gemma Elizabeth Whelan), is left trapped in a mysterious sleep. Now Calvin must navigate the drowned streets of a derelict city in a desperate attempt to bring her back. On his quest, he’ll come face-to-face with a plague of otherworldly creatures, the Slither, who possess and twist the dead into lethal, walking puppets.

In case you missed it, check out Luiz’s review of The Sinking City 2, which he describes as “a horrific love-letter to all-things Lovecraft.”

TRAILMARK Games and developer Odaclick Game Studio revealed late last week during the Future Games Show at Gamescom that Negan, the ruthless leader of the Saviors, will be a playable character in the upcoming throwback beat-’em-up The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival. Armed with Lucille, his infamous barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat, Negan will arrive with the rest of the team on September 18.

Inspired by the All-Out War storyline from AMC’s The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival delivers an action-packed, no-holds-barred, single-player campaign pitting Rick and his allies against the merciless Saviors and the relentless hordes of the undead. Saber Interactive will be giving Turok: Origins a little more time to cook. Originally launching this fall, Saber announced during Gamescom that Turok: Origins will now be heading to a spring 2027 release. To make up for the delay, we have a new extended story trailer that gives fans an even closer look at mankind’s desperate battle against vicious enemies across the cosmos.

Turok: Origins is the modern evolution of the classic dinosaur-hunting game series. Players will take on the mantle of the mystical Order of the Turok, heroic guardians of unimaginable power locked in a war for survival against ferocious dinosaurs and a terrifying alien threat that seeks to destroy all human life in the galaxy. Unleash devastating attacks on enemies with powerful weapons and abilities in both first-person and third-person action. Embark on a high-stakes adventure across the treacherously beautiful Lost Lands, solo or together with friends, and unravel the mysteries that hold the key to saving humanity.

Fight as a team in co-op or solo against a variety of creatures, dinosaurs, and bosses that take to the ground, sky, swamps, and caves to push your skills to the limit. You’ll be able to unlock and upgrade your advanced arsenal of plasma rifles, ray guns, snipers, bows, shotguns, and more to even the odds against your enemies in battle.

Turok: Origins is currently in development for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2.

During the Find Your Next Game (FYNG) showcase at Gamescom 2026, Italian indie studio 906 Games and publisher Big Blue Sky Games revealed Cutout, their upcoming side-scrolling action-horror adventure set in a grim fairy tale world handcrafted from cardboard, paper, fire, and shadow. Those attending Gamescom can get their hands on a demo of Cutout in the Indie Castle, located in Hall 10.2 (E020g – D021g).

Cutout tells the story of Lena, the forsaken child of a dying forest. Longing for an acceptance she never received from the people of her village, she embarks on a quest to recover a powerful scepter that grants its wielder total dominion over the land and its people.

Sporting what’s referred to as a Cut & Paste Combat system, Lena can become more powerful with every enemy she takes apart. If you sever an enemy’s limb, you can attach it to Lena, enhancing her with new attacks or abilities. Players can customize Lena to lean towards a favored playstyle, or experiment to discover new possibilities throughout the adventure.

However, the enemies Lena faces will play by the same rules. A lucky blow can remove one of Lena’s limbs, which enemies can claim and attach to themselves. Every fight, and every part, can change what Lena becomes.

“Most action games reward combat with a new sword,” said Giulio Perez, co-founder and art director of 906 Games. “Cutout rewards you with the arm that was holding it.”

Another unique aspect of Cutout is its papercraft visuals, which were carefully achieved under the guidance of Giulio, who spent more than a decade in the world of fashion.  Cutout’s spooky and gloomy environments are laid out to resemble a handcrafted diorama assembled from real-world materials, including those that one would find “stashed away in the attic.”

Similarly, the game’s soundtrack is crafted in that spirit by co-founder and classically trained composer Sergio Missaglia. Cutout is scored using a variety of unconventional instruments and recording techniques to create a unique soundscape that’s both equal parts disconcerting and enthralling, built to match the game’s world.

“My goal for the music is for it to convey the emotion and struggle of Lena’s journey,” said Missaglia. “To achieve the sort of raw sound you typically only hear in outsider music, I intentionally recorded compositions on instruments I’ve never played before—including some broken instruments I found in secondhand shops—to capture her childlike wonder and to explore the expressive possibilities of the instruments without the filters of traditional culture and musical knowledge.”

Currently, Cutout is slated for a 2027 release on Steam,

Developer Zeitgeist Studio and publisher HYPER REAL have released a new cinematic trailer for their long-in-development cult horror title, NAME OF THE WILL. And if you haven’t already, you can check out the demo, which covers the first chapter of the game.

Of course, if you’re attending Gamescom, you can get a hands-on preview of the game at the Indie Arena Booth, Hall 10.2, Booth F010 E019, which features never-before-seen content.

NAME OF THE WILL casts players as Neighbor 3279, a member of HOPE, which is a group led by someone known as the Benevolent Father. Modern society offers an archaic approach to emotional trauma, but with the Benevolent Father and his teachings, you can shirk distress. Negative thoughts no longer hold you down. Physical pain becomes a blessing, and death becomes the highest honor one can achieve.

Embed within HOPE’s 34-story Reformation facility, and hide every emotion behind an ever-smiling mask. Mind each word and deed to survive thrive in seven days of indoctrination introduction alongside fellow followers.

Falling out of line could prove fatal, but don’t worry! Fellow followers keep each other accountable along the path to enlightenment. During the day, follow every rule and adhere to HOPE’s transformative behavioral codes: attend education courses, cooperate during “questionnaires”, and vote on Star of the Day – a lucky individual handpicked to “receive special blessings.”

At night, you’ll sneak into hidden Backstage areas throughout HOPE’s haunted halls. There you’ll uncover sordid secrets about the cult’s origins, all while avoiding the Benevolent Father who roams the halls. Befriend fellow skeptics, collect diary entries revealing the mystery behind Neighbor 3279’s arrival, and discover the truth behind HOPE’s existence.

After its initial reveal back in 2022, long-awaited psychological survival-horror game Holstin finally has a release window. Team17 and developer Sonka have announced that the game will launch on PC and consoles – including Xbox Game Pass Day One – in 2027. Accompanying the announcement is a new release window trailer that was unveiled at Gamescom.

Set during the early 1990s in an isolated and festering Polish town possessed by an unknown and unseen horror, Holstin combines the feel of classic survival horror games with a setting and art direction that is not seen in other games.

The game follows Tomasz Wolanski on a mission to the rural, lakeside town of Jeziorne-Kolonia in search of his missing friend, an investigative journalist who was last seen in the town. Surviving the monstrosities that roam the cursed town will require scavenging for weapons, supplies, and anything else that might help keep Tomasz alive. They’ll also need to play along with the delusions of the few remaining townsfolk as their sanity continues to fade. Should players gain their trust, they may provide clues and answers to puzzles, but uncovering their secrets will require cunning and tact.

Holstin painstakingly captures the look and feel of 1990s post-Soviet Eastern Europe, with a particular focus on Poland. Every detail of Jeziorne-Kolonia, from the furniture and household objects to the brands, signage, architecture, and interior design, has been crafted to evoke the era. Faded wallpaper, battered appliances, old advertisements, and everyday objects make the world feel authentic down to the smallest detail. A fully voiced cast in both Polish and English lets players experience this strange and unsettling world in whichever language they prefer.

And in case you haven’t checked it out already, there’s the demo on Steam for Holstin that allows players to experience the opening two hours of the game.

Solo developer ant_game_projects has released the first public demo for their upcoming surreal action roguelite DREAMFEAR. Available now on Steam, the dev has also released a new gameplay trailer showing off the game’s combat, bosses, upgrades, and increasingly unstable dreamscape.

In DREAMFEAR, dreams exist as a parallel layer of reality outside our universe, unstable and prone to glitches. Realizing that you are asleep can leave you trapped there, with death only waking you back inside the same dream. The only way out is to reach the center.

The enemies and locations in DREAMFEAR are inspired by fears and phobias, with each run taking place inside a dream that changes after failure. The nightmare reflects the protagonist’s fractured psyche, with the game’s breakcore soundtrack driving the pace of each run. The pixel-based visuals are accompanied by rotoscoped cutscenes that take a cue from FAITH: The Unholy Trinity, and reflect the game’s surreal horror aesthetics.

The current demo includes two full locations with procedural room generation, with a boss at the end of each level. You’ll have two playable characters to choose from, along with 20+ upgrades that can create synergies such as bullet splitting, energy shields, and support entities.

Dino survival horror with parkour? That’s what we’re getting with indie developer WDR Studios’ Terrible Lizards, which will release on October 29 for the Xbox Series and PC via Steam. Those at Gamescom will have the opportunity to play not one but two demos for the game, which comprise of the Story Demo and Gameplay Demo.

The Story Demo introduces you to the world of Terrible Lizards and Dalton’s Dinos, with a focus on exploring the attraction, its setting, and the mystery unfolding around you. Meanwhile, the Gameplay Demo drops you closer to the action, with a bigger focus on the first-person platforming and fast-paced movement at the heart of the full game.

Both demos feature plenty of gameplay and culminate in their own climactic encounters with dinosaurs. Attendees in Hall 7 at the XBOX booth (A-0.61) will be able to choose one per turn, and if you want to try the other, you’re welcome to hop back in line.

Something’s stirring on the forgotten sidelines of Route 66. Broken down, you stumble into Dalton’s Dinos, a roadside dinosaur attraction that’s strangely quiet for the time of day. With no one around and something seemingly moving among the exhibits, a desperate call for help sends you searching…

But the colorful mascots and uncanny animatronics are only the beginning. Your search leads into sprawling underground caverns, where the dinosaurs are no longer part of the show and you’re the next meal. Run, jump, slide, climb and wall run through the darkness, using fast-paced movement and your surroundings to stay alive and uncover just how deep the mystery of Dalton’s Dinos goes. Can you find the attraction’s missing owner and his son?

Stay quiet, or risk the wrath of the park’s not quite shut down inhabitants…

Sure, carving up bots looks to be fun in IllFonic’s Halloween: The Game, but what if you want to take the stalking online? And just how does the upcoming game’s matchmaking system work? Luckily the devs are ready to explain it with the new overview trailer.

Halloween: The Game uses a role-based matchmaking system, which allows players to queue as either killer (aka Michael) or civilian. Ahead of matchmaking, players will choose their desired role, and enter a dedicated queues. If your role doesn’t matter, to you,  you can also choose “no preference” when entering the queue.

The game will also make use of an in-game currency referred to as Killer Tokens that allows players to advance in the queues to play as Myers. These can be earned by playing and completing matches. The tokens can then be spent to enter a priority matchmaking pool that reduces your wait time.

For those who prefer to match up with friends, you can also host private matches, where the roles can be specified or randomized amongst friends.

In addition, remember the “surprises” that the team were teasing if you ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Limited Collector’s Edition of Halloween: The Game? Well, one of them is the ability to unlock Advance Access to the ‘Final Girl’ Laurie Strode cosmetic!

Halloween: The Game will launch digitally on September 8 for PlayStation 5Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Physical releases will launch on October 6.

Telltale surprised everyone back in June when they revealed The Wolf Among Us Remastered, and now at Gamescom, they’ve announced that the remaster will arrive just in time for Halloween. The Wolf Among Us Remastered will arrive October 29 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, with physical editions to follow.

Rebuilt and refined for a new generation, this edition introduces players to the world of Fabletown, while welcoming longtime fans back to where it all began: Bigby’s first case, where a grisly murder reveals that something far darker is lurking beneath the surface of the city. Across five episodes—“Episode 1: Faith,” “Episode 2: Smoke and Mirrors,” “Episode 3: A Crooked Mile,” “Episode 4: In Sheep’s Clothing,” and “Episode 5: Cry Wolf”—players investigate crimes, question suspects, and make difficult choices that shape the course of the story in a mature noir thriller where every decision matters.

To honor the original story experience, Telltale has brought Fabletown to life again through enhanced visuals, refined character and environment presentation, an updated user interface, improved accessibility features, and technical enhancements including upgraded animation, audio, resolution and framerate improvements. In addition, players will have access to more than an hour of bonus content featuring behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes exploring the creation of the noir classic.

Meanwhile, the next entry in the series, The Wolf Among Us 2, is currently in development for release next year.

We truly appreciate your continued support.”

Igarashi also stated that the devteam aims to release gameplay footage for The Scarlet Engagement in the near future.

Set in the 16th century, the Ethereal Castle and its demonic inhabitants led by the Demon Lord Elias have been terrorizing the land, laying waste to all who defy their dark power. All attempts to destroy the castle and fight the demons have failed, leaving many noble warriors defeated and lost. Konami has reiterated their plans to annually release new Silent Hill entries. Speaking with Gamesradar at Gamescom, franchise producer Motoi Okamoto stated that the publisher’s hope is to have yearly titles in the series, and also to expand beyond the series’ staple of the town itself.

“If we stay laser-focused on the same American setting, that would exhaust [narrative] possibilities, and also potentially cause fatigue for the playerbase,” says Okamoto, who wants the devteam working on a Silent Hill game to mold the IP to their ideas. The result would allow the developers to “work within the types of environments and the types of storytelling that works best for them.”

And yes, in keeping with the idea of yearly titles, Okamoto states that Konami already has a couple Silent Hill titles in the works, and not just Bloober Team’s upcoming remake of the one that started it all. “There are still many projects that are still under the works and very unannounced titles,” he said. “So obviously, we can’t go into specifics. But there are still many projects that we are currently exploring and working on as we speak.”

“We would like to let players know,” Okamoto continues, “that we have more experiences coming up, and many types of games that, we believe, will be able to provide positive kinds of surprises for players waiting for this for the series.”

The next entry in the series, Silent Hill: Townfall, is right around the corner, launching September 25 for PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Frictional Games has made an appearance at Gamescom with a new trailer for ONTOS, which is now set for release next year. The trailer finally gives prospective players a chance to check out the game’s gameplay, while also emphasizing psychological horror in lieu of regular scares. The trailer also reveals Stellan Skarsgård (Dune) is part of the voice cast in the game.

In the trailer, players encounter a rather disturbing experiment, in which a human mind has been uploaded onto a server made up of live rats. Yes, that is a thing.

In ONTOS, players will become Aditi Amani, a resourceful engineer, as she explores the repurposed moon hotel Samsara in search of the truth around her estranged father. Samsara is a vast labyrinth built atop the ruins of a failed mining colony, and players will explore this open, interconnected environment in their quest for the truth. Every corner of Samsara tells a story, and every story has something hiding beneath the surface, waiting to be found…

Players will scavenge for helpful items, manipulate intricate machinery and face intense tests of morality as they encounter horrific Experiments throughout Samsara. There is no ‘one solution’ to the obstacles players will encounter in ONTOS. Players will need to use their wits and ingenuity to reach the narrative’s mysterious conclusions and face the consequences of their choices.

ONTOS is currently being developed for release on PC via Steam and GOG, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

With the beloved Tim Curry passing away earlier today at the age of 80, Double Fine Productions are celebrating the actor’s prolific work in video games, film and TV by offering gamers a chance to grab their 2009 action-adventure title Brütal Legend for free! Keep in mind that this is a very quick opportunity, so don’t pass it by!

For the next 666 minutes (seriously), you can grab Brütal Legend for free from itch.io. You simply need to create an account (for free), click this link, and claim the game. You have until 6am ET on August 27 to grab the game.

For those unaware, Tim Curry voiced Doviculus, Emperor of the Tainted Coil in the game. Curry was joined by the likes of Lita Ford, Rob Halford, Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy and more for the various heavy metal cameos.

Released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2009, Brütal Legend is a third person action-adventure game incorporating real time strategy elements. The game centres around roadie Eddie Riggs (voiced by Jack Black). After being crushed by falling scenery while trying to save a member of heavy metal band Kabbage Boy, Eddie’s blood lands on his belt buckle, which is in reality an amulet for Ormagöden. The stage is transformed into Ormagöden, who kills the band and takes the unconscious Eddie to the heavy metal world. It’s up to Eddie to free the enslaved humans of this world from Doviculus.

With Gamescom underway, Remedy Entertainment is offering attendees a chance to check out their latest hand-on preview of Control Resonant. In addition, the devs have also released a new trailer for the game, entitled “Altered State”, featuring the track “Omen” by The Prodigy.

For the first time, the public will also be able to play Control Resonant at Gamescom, with a playable demo available at the Level Infinite booth in Hall 6.

In addition, Remedy Entertainment has teamed up with ZA/UM Atelier to create a five-piece, made-to-order collection of apparel inspired by Control Resonant. The full collection will be on display at Gamescom from August 26–30, with pre-orders available now via ZA/UM Atelier.

In Control Resonant, players take on the role of Dylan Faden (voiced by Sean Durrie), who will explore multiple areas of Manhattan in an expansive, unfamiliar world as an invading cosmic force reshapes the environment, defiles natural law and distorts gravity, reordering reality into a geophysical nightmare. Players will traverse perception-bending locations and journey beyond the material world into a mysterious metaphysical space reflecting Faden’s troubled psyche.

You must tap into power that Dylan must learn to master and make choices to shape abilities that manifest and grow while exploring a deep progression system. Face ever-changing threats head-on, utilizing the environment, unleashing elemental abilities and wielding the raw force Dylan’s shapeshifting melee weapon, the Aberrant.

Control Resonant arrives September 24 digitally for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, while physical editions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series will be available from October 15. Pre-orders are now open, with players getting the Pickpocket’s Tool Artifact and Hiss Corruption Outfit for Dylan as part of pre-ordering before launch. More Poppy Playtime is headed your way, though instead of another chapter in the main game, developer Mob Entertainment has instead announced a brand-new title set in the game’s universe with Escape From Playtime. This 1-4 player co-op survival horror experience is currently being developed for release in Early Access on Steam, giving players a strong core loop at launch while leaving room for the community to help shape the title’s growth.

Players explore the facility as the Smiling Critters, the dead-eyed toy line with gaping smiles introduced in Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3. From classrooms and warehouses to testing labs and the dark corridors
connecting them all, every space in the factory becomes more dangerous when seen from a Critter’s-eye view. In groups of 1-4 players, each run sends teams into a dynamically changing section of the
facility with one clear objective: search for, locate, and transport the resources and building materials demanded by a mysterious Voice. Those materials are needed to help construct A Better Place, a promised home for toys who “prove their loyalty and usefulness.”

The job is simple on paper, but there are monsters — fellow rejected Playtime Co. creations — stalking the halls, hunting for prey. Players must search efficiently, decide when to split up or stay together, and know when to push for one more item or retreat before the factory’s denizens close in.

Players can solve puzzles, uncover clues, scavenge for tools, use hiding spots and alternate routes, and turn the factory layout itself into a coordinated advantage. Proximity voice chat adds another layer of tension: communication is essential, but even a panicked whisper at the wrong time can bring the mission to a brutal end. Speak carefully, move quickly, and remember that someone, or something, is always listening.

As players complete runs, Escape From Playtime reveals a deeper connection to the larger Poppy Playtime story. The Voice promises freedom and a home, but its true motives remain unclear. Every resource gathered seems to feed a larger plan for the future of the factory. You are helping build something. But what, and why?

While no release date has been set for the Early Access release, the plan for the initial release is to include the full eight-character Smiling Critter roster, one starter zone, and a core enemy lineup. Future updates are expected to expand the game with new zones, Critters, features, and refinements informed by player feedback.

CD Projekt RED said that they were going to have surprises at this year’s Gamescom, and while none of them were The Witcher IV (as explained earlier this week), fans were instead treated to the announcement of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG). A free upgrade for existing The Witcher 3 owners on qualifying platforms, the remaster brings with it a slew of upgrades and enhancements to visuals, performance, gameplay, and more when it launches on September 29.

Players can experience the entire epic adventure with upgraded visuals, enhanced combat, improved traversal and movement, new witcher signs effects, revamped mount handling, enhanced monster behaviors, a skill tree revamp, transmogrification, expanded photo mode, new finishers, and much more.

In addition, the devs also released a teaser trailer for the previously-announced DLC for The Witcher 3 in “Songs of the Past”. The teaser reveals the brand new region of Letten, an idyllic land rich in rural tradition and folklore, and its people enjoy a fulfilling life of bountiful harvests and lavish festivals. But a dark secret lurks just beneath the surface, and Geralt must overcome never-before-seen foes as he fights to overcome its long-dormant evil.

Songs of the Past will launch later this year as a paid expansion on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2. It is available to wishlist now across select platforms.

Those Ghost in the Shell fans who have been enjoying the Netflix series have even more on the way next month. Director Mamoru Oshii‘s 1995 original cyberpunk masterpiece returns to 800+ theaters next month for its 30th anniversary in the US in stunning 4K. Tickets for the limited-time event are now available at Fandango.

Based on the manga written and illustrated by Masamune Shirow from 1989 to 1991, Ghost in the Shell takes place in 2029. A female cybernetic government agent, Major Motoko Kusanagi (voiced by Atsuko Tanaka), and the Internal Bureau of Investigations are hot on the trail of “The Puppet Master,” a mysterious and threatening computer virus capable of infiltrating human hosts. Together with her fellow agents from Section 9, Kusanagi embarks on a high-tech race against time to capture the omnipresent entity.

No word on if this 4K release of the film has seen the same music substitution over the end credits as the 2020 4K UHD release.

As fans know, the film has gone on to influence several filmmakers, spawn a sequel in 2004 (also directed by Oshii), a television series, the 2017 live-action adaptation by Rupert Sanders, and now the recent Netflix series that debuted this past July, which is produced by Science Saru and directed by Moko-chan.

While we’re still a little ways out from its September 3 launch, developer Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco Entertainment have dropped the official launch trailer for The Blood of Dawnwalker, offering one final look at the upcoming dark fantasy action RPG. The trailer shows players what awaits them on their journey through Vale Sangora, where they will face Brencis, a tyrannical vampire lord.

“All of us here at Rebel Wolves are counting down the days to launch of our first game,” says Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, Game Director and Co-Founder of Rebel Wolves. “We can’t wait for the moment when players step into Vale Sangora and come face-to-face with Brencis and his vampire clique. We also hope that today’s trailer will encourage even more players to visit our booth at Gamescom in Hall 6.1 and try our game.”

Players will step into the dark world of The Blood of Dawnwalker to write the story of Coen, a young man who was turned into the titular Dawnwalker – human by day, and a vampire by night. In the world created by Rebel Wolves, every decision has consequences that directly shape both the gameplay and the story. In a world ravaged by wars, plagues, and rebellions under the rule of ruthless vampires, nothing is ever truly black and white.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is An open-world action RPG set in the atmospheric setting of the Carpathian Mountains. And this is just the beginning. Rebel Wolves has already revealed that future installments of the Dawnwalker saga will take players to new eras and cultures, each offering its own setting and experience.

Publisher Deep Silver and developer 4A Games joined in the Gamescom Opening Night Live festivities, revealing a new gameplay trailer for METRO 2039. The trailer delves deeper into the character and motivations of the game’s new voiced protagonist, known as The Stranger. Entitled “Renegade”, the 2-minute trailer uncovers more of the dark past and mysterious identity of The Stranger as he employs brutal methods to infiltrate a Novoreich-occupied Moscow.

In addition to the gameplay trailer, Deep Silver also dropped details on the METRO 2039 Collector’s Edition, which will be available to pre-order later this year. For the first time in the series’ history, the Collector’s Edition will allow you to become a tangible part of the world with an authentic, beautifully crafted replica of the mysterious Stranger’s battle-scared Spartan helmet.

The Metro has been transformed by a powerful new regime and its leader, the fanatical Spartan leader known as Hunter.  METRO 2039’s protagonist, The Stranger, is consumed with anger and hatred, chastising the Fuhrer for his lies and hypocrisy.  As part of the Spartan Order, Hunter was a legend, a high-ranking, experienced Ranger, who swore to protect the Metro.  What’s left of the Spartan Order as he knew it lies in ruins, and where the Spartans were once considered selfless protectors, The Stranger believes Hunter has become the very enemy the Spartans used to fight.

METRO 2039 aims for a February 2027 launch on the Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Valor Mortis made an appearance during Gamescom Opening Night Live with a new story trailer, marking the first appearance of the Shrike, the rebel leader fighting Napoleon’s Empire in occupied Eastern Europe. In addition, the trailer for the first-person Soulslike also delivers new looks at the rest of the cast in this supernatural retelling of the Napoleonic Wars: resurrected Legionnaire William Dowsett, fellow soldier James Stewart, and lamplighter Lucjan Skawiński.

Set in a supernatural reimagining of 19th-century Europe, Valor Mortis casts players as William, a young and bold Englishman, disillusioned with the monarchy. William volunteered to fight for Napoleon, inspired by his ideal of a unified Europe. The story begins with William waking up on a grim battlefield, seemingly the only soldier left standing with his mind intact. With little to no memory of his life before that moment, players will choose whether to trust the remaining survivors who claim to be his former comrades.

Guided by Napoleon’s disembodied voice (courtesy of César Award-winning actor Vincent Cassel), you must traverse ravaged battlefields, sprawling mountains, and European-inspired cities consumed by a grotesque, continent-wide plague — the same corruption that pulses through William’s veins and gave him life.

As for The Shrike, she is a rebel fighter who moves through occupied Eastern Europe with strength no ordinary soldier possesses. She answers to no authority; she fights for the people living under the Empire’s occupation, and she has her own plans for William. Partway through the story, her voice joins Napoleon’s inside his head.

Valor Mortis launches October 13 on PlayStation 5,the Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. A demo is also available now on Steam.

Darksiders Genesis fans have something to look forward to in DUST: Origins. Developed by Airship Syndicate, which is made up of devs behind the aforementioned 2019 top-down hack and slash, DUST: Origins had its debut trailer launch during Gamescom Opening Night, and has a Kickstarter underway ahead of its 2027 release on Steam.

DUST: Origins is an isometric horror shooter set aboard the doomed orbital prison platform Limbo-6. Abruptly freed from cryo-prison, players must fight to escape a murderer’s row of violent criminals and horrifying monsters before the station tears itself apart. There’s more than one way to escape the prison, but beware: actions have consequences.

DUST is the universe we’ve been dying to build,” says Airship Syndicate CEO and co-founder Joe Madureira. “After years spent bringing beloved fantasy worlds to life, our team is pouring everything into a sci fi setting that’s darker, meaner, and unlike anything we’ve made before. On Limbo-6 there are no saints, only survivors and we can’t wait for players to fight their way out.”

“We put our own money on the line for DUST: Origins because it’s the kind of game we think players want today,” explains Airship Syndicate president and co-founder Rayn Stefanelli. “It’s a premium, single-player experience you can play, love, and move on to the next game. Kickstarter isn’t about whether DUST ships, It’s about giving our community a seat at the table, making it better, and seeing together just how far we can take it.”

With Limbo-6 is in total collapse, its orbit decaying, no one aboard is your friend. Ammo is scarce and resources are limited. As a result, positioning, ammo conservation and crafting, and environmental hazards make every encounter skillful and tactical.

Other survivors roam the station with motivations of their own. Help them, and they may open new paths, items, and side missions. Or go lone wolf and leave them to their fate. Limbo-6 was also a bio-engineering site, and its alien test subjects have escaped containment. Observe their behaviors and exploit their weaknesses. But take care, as some creatures are more than what they initially seem.

Player choices genuinely shape how the story unfolds, with multiple endings, post-credits epilogues, and unique “dead ends.” Anyone can live, and anyone can die. Furthermore, every ending, post-credits epilogue, or dead end discovered unlocks stash items to carry into New Game+, along with added difficulties.

Panache Digital Games’ 1666: Amsterdam made as big of an splash as one could hope for launching into Early Access today by debuting its launch trailer during the opening night of Gamescom. The launch trailer offers a new look at the gameplay, world, characters, and mystical forces players will encounter in Amsterdam.

Panache Digital Games will continue developing the game throughout Early Access, with player feedback helping the team identify what works, what needs improvement, and where the experience should go next. Players are encouraged to share their experiences, feedback, and discoveries directly with the development team through the official Panache Discord channel.

Amsterdam is a city built on wealth, power, and sheer will, but beneath its streets lies a force it did not forge. Entities known as The Originals have lived for centuries, granted time, power, and the freedom to abuse both. Now, that power is owed.

In 1666: Amsterdam, players step into the role of Noa Brooklyn, born the Collector and raised by the Zaindaris for a purpose she did not choose: taking that power back. By day, players investigate a handcrafted Amsterdam, searching for the Originals hidden behind human faces. Identify them. Track them. Mark them.

When night falls and the Esbat begins, the hunt changes. The Originals reveal their true forms, and Noa must use witchcraft, spellcasting, strategy, and everything she has learned to confront them and collect what is owed.

Noa does not investigate Amsterdam alone. Aaron, summoned from 1999, now experiences the world through the eyes of a cat. Players can switch between Noa and Aaron, using two radically different playstyles to investigate the city, uncover hidden paths, and approach their targets in different ways.

1666: Amsterdam is currently available on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Ahead of its release later this week, Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio have dropped the launch trailer for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, premiering in grand fashion during Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live. Set to a fitting cover of Depeche Mode‘s “Enjoy the Silence”, this final glimpse into Resonance explores themes of loss, betrayal and destiny.

Combining dynamic melee combat, exploration, environmental puzzles and narrative-driven adventure, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy offers a new perspective on the beloved universe created by Asobo Studio. Players will uncover Sophia’s origins while exploring a parallel story set during the Minoan era, revealing long-buried secrets connected to the island and shedding new light on the origins of the Macula itself.

From breathtaking coastal landscapes to forgotten labyrinths hidden beneath the earth, the game delivers an emotional and intense adventure where every discovery brings Sophia one step closer to the truth… and one step closer to the darkness waiting for her.

“This project has also been a special journey for our team, giving us the opportunity to explore a new perspective on the universe we created,” says David Dedeine, Co-Founder and Creative Director at Asobo Studio. “From the writing and gameplay to the music and environments, Sophia’s journey resonates with our own: it hasn’t been without its challenges, but we put our whole hearts into it.”

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will launch for the Xbox Series, Day One with Xbox Game Pass, as well as PlayStation 5 and Steam on August 27.

Silent Hill: Townfall made an appearance at Gamescom’s opening night with the reveal of the English voice cast for the upcoming Screen Burn Interactive title. The cast includes Jovan Adepo (IT: Welcome to Derry, The Odyssey) as Simon, the game’s protagonist, Kezia Burrows (Observation) as Zoe, and Terry O’Quinn (The Stepfather, Millennium, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live) as Richard.

Simon Ordell, who is called back to the island of St. Amelia in Scotland to ‘put things right’. What he encounters is a town lying quiet beneath a heavy fog, seemingly abandoned but not at rest. All he has on him besides his clothes are an IV bag and a medical wristband with his name on it. He heads to the town with no leads but the voices from the CRTV he picked up along the way. Venturing deeper and driven to understand his connection to the place and its inhabitants, Simon begins to discover fragments of a past rising to the surface.

Played entirely in first person, Townfall has players exploring, evading, and ultimately trying to survive using a limited set of weapons and tools, including the CRTV, a pocket television used to tune into unstable signals. Evasion is tense; combat is frenetic, while narrative driven puzzles reveal a truth that refuses to stay submerged.

Developed by Screen Burn and co-published by Annapurna Interactive and Konami, Silent Hill: Townfall will launch September 25 for PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Previously released this past May onto Steam, Krufs Productions will bring its unforgiving survival horror title Heavy Metal Death Can to the PlayStation 5 this fall. Those who prefer to stick with the PC version can pick up the game on Steam with a 20% discount from now until August 30. You can also check out the demo on Steam.

Taking place in an alternate history 1970s Cold War submarine Domherren in the depths of the Norwegian Sea, you must fight to stay alive against your fallen crew, their corpses controlled by the insidious Sludge. As you do so, you must also work to find survivors and uncover the mystery behind the Sludge.

Much like titles such as Crow Country, Heavy Metal Death Can is inspired by the style of early console classics. The game sports the classic fixed camera angles and tank controls (with optional modernized controls). It’s also not for the lackadaisical. Resource management and high-stakes decision-making are required, as the Sludge isn’t a threat you can simply shoot your way through. Every bullet must be carefully considered.

Heightening the tension is the game’s distorted soundtrack and unnerving audio design, ensuring players that they’re never truly safe, even in silence.

Load up your Smart Gun, as Cold Iron Studio’s Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is out today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. As mentioned previously, the game will also be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 later this fall.

Once again, up to four players in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 can suit up as members of the Colonial Marines. This is not a rescue mission—it’s a fight for survival. Xenomorphs stalk the corridors, ambush from the shadows, and swarm in overwhelming numbers. You must coordinate with your fireteam, utilizing each class’s unique abilities, and adapt on the fly as encounters escalate from tense standoffs to all-out war.

Fireteam Elite 2 features deeper squad mechanics, smarter enemies, and a “fully customizable Specialist class” that lets players mix and match major and minor abilities from every available class into one Marine. Build a loadout tailored to your exact playstyle and fill whatever role your squad needs.

The game also launches with multiple dedicated Horde maps that will push squads to their limits. Teams will battle through escalating waves of xenomorphs and other deadly enemies, earning increasingly valuable rewards as they survive deeper into the onslaught.
