I seriously can’t wait for Sony Pictures Entertainment’s sci-fi thriller Chappie, which opens March 6th (just in time for my birthday!).

First, I love that it stars Ninja and Yolandi Visser, voices of the South African Zef counter-culture movement and members of rap-rave duo Die Antwoord, who play two local gangsters who want to use him for their own nefarious purposes. Then there’s Sharlto Copley as the voice of Chappie, as well as Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, Jose Pablo Cantillo and Sigourney Weaver.

But what I love most of all is that director Neill Blomkamp has appeared to inject the Chappie robot with so much love and care that it’ll be impossible for us viewers not to fall in love with him. His thug-look is priceless, and this new series of images really hone in on that character trait. This should be as impactful as Short Circuit or RoboCop, and if it isn’t… Chappie has failed.
