‘Elm Street’ Producer Haunts Evan Dickson’s ‘Your Filthy Heart’ [Exclusive]

Published

Unique Features will produce Evan Dickson‘s supernatural horror Your Filthy Heart, his feature directorial debut based on the short film of the same name.

Bloody Disgusting previously shared the world exclusive premiere of the short (below), which carries a strong Insidious vibe.

In Your Filthy Heart, a mysterious box unleashes a force that causes its victims to be hunted down by their worst regrets.

Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes, The Neighbor), Eliza Noland, David Bruckner (director of The Ritual, Southbound, V/H/S), Zoe Cooper (The Signal, Southbound), and Jennifer Kretchmer appeared in the short.

The legendary Bob Shaye (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Lord of the Rings) produces with Vincent Gatewood and William Day Frank.

“Since my short and the initial draft of the feature were so heavily influenced by A Nightmare On Elm Street I jumped at the chance to work with Bob Shaye (along with producers Vincent Gatewood and Will Frank), who was so instrumental in bringing that property and legacy to life,” explains Dickson, who was a long-time writer for Bloody Disgusting and now a full-time screenwriter and director. “Our goal with this movie is to combine the surreal imagery and dreamlike quality of the NOES series and distill it through the modern lens you see in movies like It or The Conjuring. Working on a new draft of the script the past few months with the team has been a fantastic experience and we’re finally ready to get this thing out into the world.”

Watch for feature casting news as it comes in. For now, enjoy the original short Your Filthy Heart.

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
