A sequel to last year’s animated movie The Addams Family is on the way from MGM, and we’ve learned today that the film will be released just in time for Halloween 2021!

Check out teaser art below and expect *something* (a trailer?) tomorrow…

The first movie made over $200 million at the worldwide box office, so a sequel was inevitable. In fact, it had actually first been announced last Halloween season, you may recall.

Based on the famous New Yorker creations of Charles Addams, MGM’s animated comedy featured an all-star voice cast let by Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, Bette Midler, Allison Janney, Elsie Fisher, and Snoop Dogg as IT.

The film was directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
