Neil Marshall Says “There’s More of a Chance Now Than Ever Before” for a ‘Dog Soldiers’ Sequel

Announced just yesterday, Neil Marshall‘s next movie The Lair is set to be his “true return to full-blooded horror and intense genre action,” described by Marshall as being “in the style of Dog Soldiers, The Descent and Doomsday.” Dog Soldiers, you say? What about a straight up sequel to Dog Soldiers, huh? How about that? Maybe, says Marshall. Maybe…

Speaking with Den of Geek, Marshall suggests a sequel to his 2002 werewolf movie could indeed be on the way. At least, he says, “There’s more of a chance now than ever before.”

Marshall explained to the site, “There’s things in the works and we’re seeing what we can do. Certainly, myself and Kevin McKidd and [Dog Soldiers producer] Chris Figg are up for it to revisit this world. Over the past 18 years the question I get asked pretty much more than anything else is when are we going to get Dog Soldiers 2?’ Part of me thinks I’d like to go back and re-visit that world somehow. And if Kev’s up for it, then that would make it worthwhile for sure.”

So we’ll see. You never know.

Dog Soldiers pit soldiers up against werewolves in the Scotland wilderness, and actor Sean Pertwee recalls in the chat with Den of Geek that a trilogy of films was originally the plan. In fact, it had been announced back in 2004 that Dog Soldiers: Fresh Meat was in the works.

Head over to Den of Geek for more on that.

Sleepy Hollow movie

Paramount is heading to Sleepy Hollow with a brand new feature film take on the classic Headless Horseman tale, with Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) announced to direct the movie back in 2022. But is that project still happening, now two years later?

The Hollywood Reporter lets us know this afternoon that Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Lindsey Anderson Beer, and one of the projects on the upcoming slate is the aforementioned Sleepy Hollow movie that was originally announced two years ago.

THR details, “Additional projects on the development slate include… Sleepy Hollow with Anderson Beer attached to write, direct, and produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road.”

You can learn more about the slate over on The Hollywood Reporter. It also includes a supernatural thriller titled Here Comes the Dark from the writers of Don’t Worry Darling.

The origin of all things Sleepy Hollow is of course Washington Irving’s story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” which was first published in 1819. Tim Burton adapted the tale for the big screen in 1999, that film starring Johnny Depp as main character Ichabod Crane.

More recently, the FOX series “Sleepy Hollow” was also based on Washington Irving’s tale of Crane and the Headless Horseman. The series lasted four seasons, cancelled in 2017.
