‘Underwater’ Actress Jessica Henwick Joins Rian Johnson’s ‘Knives Out 2’
The cast for Rian Johnson‘s Knives Out 2 continues to grow, with Deadline reporting today that Jessica Henwick (Underwater, pictured above) is the latest actor to sign on.
Daniel Craig is back as Benoit Blanc, with the cast also including Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Janelle Monáe, Madelyn Cline, and Kate Hudson.
Netflix is on board for not one but two upcoming sequels to Knives Out.
Rian Johnson had noted back in 2020 that he was developing a sequel that would center on Daniel Craig‘s detective character investigating a new case, which is likely still the plan.
In the first film…
“When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death.”
Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.
The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.
Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.
Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”
Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.
Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.
THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
