Screen-Worn and Screen-Matched ‘Jason Goes to Hell’ Hockey Mask Sells for Over $200,000 at Auction!

This week’s ongoing live auction Entertainment Memorabilia: Treasures from Film and Television from Prop Store was kicked off yesterday with a handful of incredible movie props and costumes, with horror highlights including Aliens, Evil Dead 2, and Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Master. The hottest item? A screen-matched mask from Jason Goes to Hell!

Worn by Kane Hodder in the early portions of the movie, the mask was estimated to fetch between $20,000 and $30,000 during the auction, and the screen-used prop far exceeded even the highest of expectations. The winning bid was placed for $180,000, and we’ve learned from Prop Store today that the full price the buyer will pay comes out to $225,000!

That final figure represents “the total sale price, which includes the buyer’s premium.”

Here’s the full listing for the item…

A screen-matched Jason Voorhees hockey mask signed by Kane Hodder from Adam Marcus’ horror sequel Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. Jason’s (Hodder) spirit passed his signature mask from body to body before he was dragged to hell by Freddy Krueger (Hodder). This mask screen-matches to the scene in which a SWAT team ambushes and blows up Jason.

This version of the iconic Voorhees mask was designed by effects supervisor Howard Berger and manufactured by K.N.B. Effects Group to appear battle-scarred, burnt, water-damaged, and fused to the face of the latest wearer. As such, the mask is extensively aged with grime, scratches, and chips made throughout by production.

It is constructed of molded vacuum-formed plastic painted white, gray, and brown with “To Tom, You’re Next, “Jason”” signed in black marker by Hodder above a red triangle emblem. Three brown leather straps are screwed into the top and sides. Though intentionally distressed, the mask remains in good overall condition.

This lot comes from the collection of renowned special effects artist Tom “Brooklyn” Bellissimo. A letter of authenticity from Bellissimo is included.

Another hot horror prop that was up for sale yesterday, “Vasquez’s (Jeanette Goldstein) Screen-Matched Lightweight M-41A Pulse Rifle from ALIENS (1986) sold for $106,250.”

The Prop Store auction continues today, June 30, and tomorrow, July 1.

Dan Stevens is everywhere lately, from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire to Abigail and the upcoming Cuckoo. We’re not complaining. Up next? He’s starring in horror movie The Ritual.

Al Pacino and Dan Stevens have both joined the cast of the upcoming exorcism horror movie from XYZ Films and director David Midell, Variety reports this afternoon.

Based on a true story, the film “follows two priests — one questioning his faith (Stevens) and one reckoning with a troubled past (Pacino) — who must put aside their differences to save a possessed young woman through a difficult and dangerous series of exorcisms.”

Variety details, “The film is an authentic portrayal of Emma Schmidt, an American woman whose demonic possession culminated in harrowing exorcisms. Her case remains the most thoroughly documented exorcism in American history.”

David Midell and Enrico Natale wrote the screenplay for The Ritual.

XYZ Films is planning to release the horror film theatrically in 2025.
