Exclusive Trailer for ‘Popeye’s Revenge’ Turns the Spinach Eater into a Slasher Maniac
There are not one but two upcoming Popeye horror movies now that the iconic character has found himself in the Public Domain, the first of which is titled Popeye’s Revenge.
Beating fellow Popeye horror movie Popeye the Slayer Man to the punch, director William Stead’s Popeye’s Revenge debuts its official trailer right here on Bloody Disgusting today.
From ITN Studios, Popeye’s Revenge will chew spinach and tear apart bodies in January 2025. Exclusively watch the twisted horror movie’s bloody official trailer down below.
Described as a “raunchy and gory slasher,” here’s the plot synopsis for the film:
The legend of Popeye haunts a group of councilors as they intend to open a summer camp.
Steven Murphy plays Popeye in the upcoming horror movie.
Created by Elzie Crisler, the spinach-eating Popeye character was first introduced in a comic strip on January 17, 1929, subsequently spawning animated shorts and a live action movie in 1980. Directed by Robert Altman, the movie featured the late Robin Williams as Popeye.
Popeye’s Revenge, of course, will be the first horror movie featuring the pop culture icon.
