In reply to pablitonizer. It's definitely not a traditional Oscar pick. The entire second half is structured like a Hollywood disaster film - the characters are interesting and you root for them, but once the wave hits it turns into a fairly familiar/generic film

I’m down for some destruction. Wave looks mad ass scary. Still think the scariest film with a tsunami was The Impossible. That was insane. My only concern here is how will this be a long movie if the wave hits movie is over. Unless its like The Impossible.

It seems to deliver some nice CGI effects but the story seems random & overused…Don’t see this as an Academy awards choice tbh, not interested
