In our first official story of 2016, rocking a new design to kick off our 15th anniversary, we present the five new horror titles now streaming on Netflix Instant.
Darr @ the Mall (2014)
“Six people get trapped overnight in a mall and start turning up dead. Now a newly hired security guard races to stop the supernatural slayings.”
Directed by Pawan Kripalani, it stars Jimmy Shergill, Nushrat Bharucha, Arif Zakaria, and Vikram Raj Bhardwaj.
The Faculty (1998)
“High school kids notice an alien infection and try to stop the faculty members from taking over the school and its student body.”
Directed by Robert Rodriguez, it stars Jordanna Brewster, Clea DuVall, Laura Harris, Josh Hartnett.
House of Wax (2005)
“A group of friends making their way to a college football game fall prey to two bloodthirsty brothers in an abandoned small town.”
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, it stars Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray, Paris Hilton, Brian Van Holt.
Pay the Ghost (2015)
“After their young son disappears, a professor and his wife come apart. But haunting visions of their boy inspire them to search for him again.”
Directed by Uli Edel, it stars Nicolas Cage, Sarah Wayne Callies, Veronica Ferres.
The Shining (1980)
“Jack Torrance descends into madness — terrorizing his wife and young son — after living at a deserted and eerie hotel during its off season.”
Directed by Stanley Kubrick, it stars Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Danny Lloyd, Scatman Crothers.
Chris Columbus (Gremlins – writer, Home Alone – director) is headed back into the director’s chair for Thursday Murder Club, Amblin’s upcoming feature film adaptation of the same-titled novel written by Richard Osman. Variety first reported the news this morning.
It’s not a horror movie, mind you, but rather a star-studded murder-mystery. Think Rian Johnson’s Knives Out… only this particular murder-mystery is set in a retirement community!
Variety details, “The book, released in 2020, tells the story of four septuagenarian friends who live in a retirement community and solve cold cases for fun. When a shady property developer is found dead, the four find themselves in the middle of their first live crime.”
Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Ben Kingsley are “being eyed” to lead the cast!
Richard Osman’s 2020 novel was such a hit that it launched a franchise. Follow-up The Man Who Died Twice followed in 2021, with The Bullet That Missed coming along in 2022. And then there was The Last Devil to Die in 2023, with a fifth book in the series expected in 2025.
