The only problem? Most of his bandmates are dead after the events of 2015’s Deathgasm.

Milo Cawthorne is back as unwitting hero Brodie, who’s had a rough go since thwarting a heavy metal apocalypse in the last film. Brodie is mourning the death of his psychopathic best friend, is unemployed, and has been dumped by his girlfriend, Medina (Kimberley Crossman). Naturally, he turns to black magic to revive his glory days.

In the sequel, “A few years after surviving the last demon apocalypse, Brodie is washed-up, broke, and stuck in small-town purgatory. But when he learns that NoizeQuest, a battle-of-the-bands competition, is coming to his town, he sees a shot at redemption – and maybe even a second chance with Medina. One problem: his drummer is missing an arm, and the rest of his band is, well… dead. Luckily, Brodie still has the pages of The Black Hymn, so raising his bandmates from the great beyond is just a riff away. But with every chord comes blood, guts, and the kind of apocalyptic chaos only Deathgasm can unleash..”

Also back are James Joshua Blake as Zakk, Sam Berkley, and Daniel Cresswell. The sequel also introduces us to new characters played by Kieran Charnock, Harrison Keefe, and Maggie Nicole Robertson.

Metal musician Matthew Kiichi Heafy, of Grammy-nominated metal band Trivium, composed the film’s original score.

Howden wrote and directed the sequel.

Howden promises “Deathgasm II: Goremageddon is a face-melting splatterfest made for the misfits, the freaks, the outcasts, the headbangers, and the gorehounds. In a world divided, heavy metal and horror fans are an international family united by our passion for extreme entertainment. Deathgasm II is one big, brutal ‘HORNS UP’ to that family. We cranked out the most skull-shattering metal soundtrack in movie history, with tracks from Anvil, Sanguisugabogg, Skinless, Alien Weaponry, Frozen Soul, Havok, and motherflippin’ GWAR!”

New Zealand producer Nick Garrett added, “Deathgasm II: Goremaggedon is for the fans, and not just because they helped pay for it. In these turbulent times it is important that audiences have access to pure, unapologetic, escapist entertainment. It’s a party movie, pure and simple, made to be watched with mates, mayhem, and at maximum volume. I cannot wait to see how fans of the original – and the new ones we’re about to drag into chaos – respond.”

Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon is set to make its world premiere later this week at Fantastic Fest.

Stay tuned for release details.

Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon is set to make its world premiere next month at Fantastic Fest.

In the sequel, Deathgasm is “fucking back, baby, and the only way Brodie can win the Battle of the Bands is to bring his band back from the dead. This time, the fiery furnaces of Satan’s anus have brought forth nothing short of a GOREMAGEDDON.”

Howden wrote and directed the sequel.

Naturally, he decides to get his band back together….by turning to black magic to raise the dead.

The first look image reintroduces Brodie, but withholds any of the gory metal insanity.

“The sequel promises to not only satisfy the cravings of die-hard fans of the original film, like myself, but it will also rip out the hearts of a new wave of viewers,” said Executive Producer B.J. McDonnell (Studio 666).” You can also anticipate a soundtrack that will rock harder than ever, a hallmark of the Deathgasm franchise.”

“I’m so thrilled to be continuing the ‘Deathgasm‘ universe and bring the evil-crushing power of metal to new and existing audiences,“ said Howden. “Like we saw with Eddie Munson in ‘Stranger Things,‘ not all heroes wear capes. Some wear Anthrax tees and denim vests.”

Matthew Kiichi Heafy, best known as the frontman of the chart-topping metal band TRIVIUM, composed the film’s score.

Deathgasm also has a graphic novel and video game on the way, so expect to hear a lot more about this sequel soon.

Regarding Deathgasm 1.5: Director’s Cut, Howden states that the events between the first film and the upcoming sequel was a story that needed to be told. “The story was so visually epic, so gory, and so offensive that it could never be filmed without watering it down. Instead, we made it into a graphic novel: Deathgasm 1.5. We’re stoked for fans to witness Brodie and Medina slashing demons and thrashing metal riffs, meeting old mates and an ageless evil that lurks in the shadows of a heavy metal-hating church!”

Deathgasm 1.5: Director’s Cut is an 80-page graphic novel from Howden (director of Deathgasm and Guns Akimbo) writer Peter Bune (Squatch Watch), artist Industrias Lamonicana (Fierro), colorist Zac Atkinson (Farscape, Star Trek), and letterer Jeremiah Lambert (Masters of the Universe, Transformers). The book also features contributions from writers Michael Schwartz (Armored, Zombie Town) and Joshua Viola (True Believers, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver).

Meanwhile, in Deathgasm: The Video Game, the Black Hymn has been unleashed, and Hell is bleeding into reality. Fans can play as Brodie, Zakk, or Medina and fight through nine brutally challenging levels—each inspired by Dante’s Inferno and swarming with demonic horrors and gloriously obscene humor—armed with chainsaws, axes, guitars, sex toys, and more to battle hordes of the damned and take down monstrous bosses based on the original film’s most twisted villains. Featuring 9 levels inspired by Dante’s Inferno and a chiptune Heavy Metal soundtrack composed by Sam Beddoes, the game will present fans’ favorite hapless metal heads as they’ve never seen them before.

The Kickstarter campaign offer a variety of exclusive rewards, which we’ve glimpsed at already, including high-end latex masks of the main demon villain, Aeloth, along with Brodie and Zakk sporting their signature corpse paint. Backers can also snag a limited-edition signed Blu-ray of the upcoming sequel film with exclusive slipcase artwork, as well as vinyl and cassette editions of the game’s soundtrack. Additional perks include original artwork, apparel, and the ultimate prize—a one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted custom guitar, approved by the Devil himself and signed by designer Preston Asevedo.
