Now in pre-production, Death Ward 13 is to be directed by award-winning horror filmmaker Todd Nunes (All Through the House) and produced by The Readmond Company.

Death Ward 13 is inspired by S.F. Brownrigg’s Don’t Look in the Basement (1973) and Edgar Allen Poe’s short story “The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether” (1845). Death Ward 13 promises to deliver “a thrilling grindhouse-inspired remake with a shocking collection of criminally insane patients: botched lobotomies, necrophilia, sexual deviance, and violent psychopaths.”

Death Ward 13 is Todd Nunes’ bloody love letter to Don’t Look in the Basement.

It’s 1973 and the Stephens Sanitarium for the Criminally Insane prepares to shut down permanently. Days before closing, four beautiful nursing students arrive to care for the last handful of “harmless” mental patients in a suspiciously understaffed ward. Confronted by their violent charges, the nurses soon realize that they are trapped inside the asylum with a deadly crew of vicious lunatics. Each patient has their own perverse identity, their own personal demons, and their own violent agenda. Pushed to the brink of insanity, the young nurses find themselves in a gruesome fight for survival inside Ward 13.

Right now, Doyle is on the road touring in support of his solo album Abominator, which you can snag on iTunes.

I was fortunate enough to get a chance to talk with this legend and asked him five questions. They may be short, but his answers cut right to the point, leaving no room for misunderstanding.

Check out our exclusive interview below!

Bloody-Disgusting: Do you find anything terrifying in horror movies anymore?

No. Nothing. I’ve seen it all.

BD: What in horror still inspires you musically?

Movie soundtracks. I find that when I watch horror movies I pay attention more to the music and then I have to watch the fucking movie again to pay attenion to it.

BD: What’s been the biggest change in music that you’ve seen over the years?

People stealing music like a bunch of cocksuckers.

BD: What keeps you going?

I love music, man. That’s why.

BD: What’s next?

We’re gonna book some more shows. We’ve got another record in the can. We’ve got to do the drums because our drummer left us two hours before everybody was getting on the jet from fucking LA. We get word from the manager that he decided not to show, so we got Tiny [Biuso] and he came in on an hour’s notice, got on the plane, flew in, jet lagged, and learned four songs. Dropped him off at the studio the next day for 6-8 hours with myself, learned another four, went through a bunch of Misfits songs he happened to know, and we’re just killing it now!
