Crackle’s ‘Dead Rising: Endgame’ Gets New Trailer and Poster

JonathanBarkan — Wed, 01 Jun 2016 19:14:40 +0000

Crackle, Sony’s streaming service, will begin streaming their original film Dead Rising: Endgame on June 20th and a brand new trailer and poster have been released to give you a better taste of the zombie goodness that’s about to come!

Dead Rising: Endgame, “…begins by dropping us into the zombie-infested quarantined zone of East Mission City where investigative reporter Chase Carter must stop a secret government conspiracy which, though seemingly aimed at ending the country’s zombie epidemic, will also kill millions of innocent civilians.”

Jesse Metcalfe returns as “Chase Carter”, the well-known television journalist who goes back underground to stop the military’s rogue operation and break the ultimate story. Keegan Connor Tracy returns as camera operator and producer, “Jordan Blair”. Attempting to thwart their plans is Dennis Haysbert reprising his role as “General Lyons”, a crooked Military Intelligence Officer. Patrick Sabongui returns in a new role, playing a skilled zombie killer and video game aficionado who talks a big and crude game to mask his gentle side.

Dead Rising: Endgame is directed by Pat Williams (“Continuum”), written by Michael Ferris (Terminator Salvation) and produced by Legendary Digital Media and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Guy Shreds Through All 160 Megadeth Riffs In Chronological Order

JonathanBarkan — Fri, 05 Dec 2014 16:00:44 +0000

There’s no denying that Dave Mustaine and the vast amount of musicians that have at some point or another comprised thrash metal icons Megadeth have written some tasty licks. In fact, some riffs have become staples in the training of burgeoning metal guitarists, almost like a rite of passage before you can ascend to the next level of guitar knowledge.

But you’re only a true fan if you can riff and shred your way through 160 Megadeth guitar licks, playing a few seconds of every song the band has released AND in chronological order! Sound insane? Well, it kinda is, but that didn’t stop Travis Simpson from doing just that!

Below you can watch Simpson as he plays a sample from every track from every album and all in the order in which they were released. Note, he does state in the video description that the guitar tracks, “…were muted during the guitar tuning swaps so you don’t have to hear the sound of a disconnected guitar.”

What’s your favorite Megadeth riff?

The Writers Of ‘Carriers’ Are About To Get All ‘Selfless’ On You

EvanDickson — Mon, 30 Apr 2012 20:30:56 +0000

Alex and David Pastor, who wrote the viral pandemic film Carriers are returning with the thriller Selfless. It’s got a cool concept that’s teetering on horror so we’re gonna keep our eye on it until we can assess if it qualifies for coverage. Endgame Entertainment and FilmDistrict, who are coming off of the amazing looking Rian Johnson film Looper, have teamed up to produce.

Per Variety, “Endgame Entertainment and FilmDistrict will co-finance thriller ‘Selfless,’ jointly acquiring the screenplay by Alex Pastor and David Pastor (‘Carriers’).”

The film, “centers on a wealthy older man who discovers he’s dying and pays to have his mind transplanted into a younger man’s body. When he discovers how his new body was acquired, he defies the company who provided it and is hunted by armed mercenaries.”

Sounds like it has some elements of Repo and could be ripe for some Cronenbergian imagery. What do you think?

Megadeth Announce Release Date For ‘TH1RT3EN’

JonathanBarkan — Wed, 10 Aug 2011 01:57:29 +0000

Megadeth have made it official: TH1RT3EN, their 13th studio album, will be released on Nov. 1st! The new album features 13 blistering tracks from the thrash metal legends and will be the first album with bassist David Ellefson recorded since 2002’s Rude Awakening.

Dave Mustaine says “This record is the culmination of my work over the 13 records I recorded. There are moments on TH1RT3EN that capture my every emotion, and other moments where I am releasing feelings I never knew existed! My proudest moments of my musical career are captured on TH1RT3EN.”

Having just seen the guys this past Saturday at the Detroit Rockstar Mayhem Energy Fest, I’m really looking forward to the new album! The guys rocked a new song called Public Enemy No. 1 and it had all the markings of a classic Megadeth track. Check out a live version after the jump.

Rise Against Collaborate With It Gets Better For ‘Make It Stop’ Video

JonathanBarkan — Wed, 22 Jun 2011 03:48:27 +0000

Rise Against have teamed up with It Gets Better, the organization dedicated to helping LGBT youths, to release a video for Make It Stop (September’s Children), which comes off their latest album, Endgame (review here). Check it out after the jump.

Rise Against singer Tim McIlrath: “A number of events were the catalyst for the creation of Make It Stop, everything from the suicides in September 2010, to our own fans voicing their fears and insecurities from time to time,” says McIlrath. “I decided to create the song as a response, and when I discovered the It Gets Better campaign and [It Gets Better Project co-founder] Dan Savage’s commitment to such an important and concise message, I was moved. I immediately felt that if our song is the road, then the It Gets Better campaign is the destination. I hope the synergy between the two can reach people and make a difference.”

“Tim McIlrath has written a powerful song,” It Gets Better Project co-founder Dan Savage said. “With the release of ‘Make It Stop’ and the accompanying video, Rise Against is sending the message to its fan base that the bullying and harassment of LGBT teens needs to stop and that suicide isn’t a solution.”

Award-winning director Marc Klasfeld directed the “Make It Stop” music video in Chicago at Tim McIlrath’s high school alma mater. “I’ve been a fan of Rise Against for a while and it was amazing to work with them on this special video,” Klasfeld said. “As soon as I heard the song, I knew a powerful video could be made that could potentially help people and I jumped at the chance to be a part of it.”

Album Review: Rise Against ‘Endgame’

Sammy-Key — Wed, 16 Mar 2011 01:29:14 +0000

When I was asked to do this review I was excited about it, but also a little bit unsure of what to expect. I’ve been listening to punk and hardcore music from a pretty young age, but Rise Against was one of those bands who always seemed too “big” for me. And I don’t mean big in the sense of popular, I mean big in the sense of having their shit together. But it was clear after one listen that Rise Against isn’t only for hardcore activists who make it their top priority every day to ponder political conundrums. They really just, well, they give a shit. And that’s a breath of fresh air. Read on to hear what I have to say about their newest release Endgame.

Possibly one of the most influential bands in the scene today, modern punk veterans Rise Against prove their musical and political prowess with their sixth studio album release Endgame. Although the band has denied claims that their latest release is a concept album, its obvious after one listen why someone would think that. Rife with both politically and emotionally charged lyrics, this album explores many shitty occurances that have taken place in America; from Hurricane Katrina to school shootings. At some times methodical and at others deliciously dischordant, Endgame spotlights guitarist Zach Blair’s versatility throughout the entire album.

The song “Satellite” features riffs that climb up and down the scale, while the take-no-prisoners approach to the guitar work in stand out track “Broken Mirrors” will make you want to move. But “Midnight Hands” is perhaps the most impressive example, making use of a killer opening before bleeding into a guitar riff that can only be described as sounding like pulling a thread out of an unraveling jacket. However, Blair’s guitar would be nothing without the lyricism presented by Tim Mcllrath. It is the message of Endgame that will really get to you. The end of the world and the currently sad state of the nation has become a popular theme amongst many recent releases, but Rise Against has managed to explore those ideas in a fresh and non-jaded way. “Survivor Guilt” expresses the sorrow of veterans, while opening track “Architects” is a call to take action in order to make a difference.

There is one track on the album that really struck a chord (haha) with me. Easily the most harrowing track on the album, “Make It Stop (September’s Children)” is truly eerie. An enraged, yet gentle demand for help, this track features McIlrath’s raspy (although somehow soothing) vocals alongside heavy guitar, but really gets creepy when it features a voice reading a list of the names and ages of the teens who recently committed suicide due to bullying, all over a raucous guitar section. It’s the type of song to make you take a step back and say “whoa”.

Overall, Rise Against proves with Endgame that after 12 years in the business, they are still as politically and musically relevant as ever, and have definitely created a positive, and even inspiring, message within the album. It’s clear, as it has always been, that Rise Against really care about what it going on around them, not only in the music scene, but in the greater world as well. With the closing track “Endgame” McIlrath despondently proclaims “We’ve forgotten how to feel!” and seems to implore the listener to realize the tragedies we are all facing, and to ask oneself “How do I feel about this? What I am doing to make a difference?”

MEGADETH’s ‘Endgame’ Tour Setlist Revealed, Dave Mustaine Mans the Merch Booth

Tom Owen — Mon, 16 Nov 2009 00:14:58 +0000

Blabbermouth reports “MEGADETH’s 2009 U.S. leg of the “Endgame” world tour kicked off last night (Saturday, November 14) at a sold-out Orbit Room in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Support on the trek is coming from MACHINE HEAD, SUICIDE SILENCE, ARCANIUM, and WARBRINGER replacing MACHINE HEAD beginning December 5.”

The setlist seems to be more of the same perpetual greatest hits tour MEGADETH has been playing since “Countdown to Extinction”… don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. I saw MEGADETH touring on Countdown back in ’93ish and it was definitely a satisfying show.

01. 1,320′
02. Wake Up Dead
03. Hangar 18
04. Skin O’ My Teeth
05. Head Crusher
06. She-Wolf
07. In My Darkest Hour
08. Take No Prisoners
09. Rattlehead
10. Kick The Chair
11. Sweating Bullets
12. Tornado Of Souls
13. Ashes In Your Mouth
14. Devil’s Island
15. Symphony Of Destruction
16. Peace Sells
—————-
17. Holy Wars

And from the band’s message board, Dave Mustaine reports…

“Since we have tried and tried to find out why our records are not being stocked in so many places that our other labelmates are being stocked at, and ALL of our peers are being sold in too, and since we keep getting excuses from either the stores, the distributors, or the other people involved with getting the record in stores and out to you, I have decided that depending on how tired I am each night, I am willing to do their jobs too, and I will be waiting for you each night after we play and we (me) will be autographing records for you at our merchandise booth to support MEGADETH somehow at these shows.

“Please remember that I am going to be doing my best to do this for us all, although I should NOT have to do this in order to sell my new record.

“Talk about feeling like a beginner band, and having no real understanding of why you are being treated like you don’t deserve to be treated better, but fuck it and fuck them.

“I will see you [Saturday night in Grand Rapids]. I will be the one hocking MEGADETH records after the show with the box ‘o Sharpies!

“Thank you all for your support, God knows we wouldn’t be here without you.”
