Originally a Google Stadia exclusive, Tequila Works and Parallel Circles’ kid Survival Horror title GYLT has been rescued from the now-defunct service, and is now available on PC via Steam, PlayStation and Xbox. Described as an “accessible horror game for fans of the genre and beyond”, GYLT combines familiar Survival Horror tropes such as puzzles, stealth and action sequences, but presents them in such a way that younger horror fans can get into the genre.

The story for GYLT revolves around Sally, a little girl living in Bethelwood. Life hasn’t been easy for Sally, and things haven’t gotten any better since her little cousin Emily disappeared. After being chased by a group of bullies, Sally is dragged into a twisted version of her town where her fears and worse memories are presented in a wicked and very real way. Now, not only has Sally got to find her way out of this alternate reality, but she also must solve the mystery of Emily’s disappearance.

The familiar Survival Horror mechanic of deciding to either fight or flee from monsters in on full display in GYLT, but with the added component of it being from a child’s point of view. Similar to how you were taught to face your fears when you were a kid, you’ll either be taking on these nightmarish creatures using your flashlight (a la Alan Wake), or coming up with strategies to distract them or stealthily maneuver around them. The game is all set to a soundtrack by Cris Velasco, whose work ranges from Overwatch and Mass Effect to Borderlands, God of War, Bloodborne.

Dead Drop Studios has announced that their Kickstarter campaign for the upcoming Outbreak: Shades of Horror has reached its funding goal. The devs have now rolled out the stretch goals for the campaign, which has raised over $68,000 USD so far with 14 days to go.

Those Kickstarter stretch goals for Shades of Horror include things such as cross-platform multiplayer, AI survivor teammates, additional content like Operation: Rabid Wolf and an Ironman mode, and what’s referred to as the Dinobreak expansion pack (for you Dino Crisis fans).

“We are in awe of the tremendous support from our community of survivors! We feel so privileged to be able to develop Shades of Horror for them and bring retro style gaming to next-gen consoles,” say Evan & Julia Wolbach, co-founders of Dead Drop Studios. “We are over the moon that the style of gaming we grew up with will be available for a new generation to learn and enjoy.”

A love letter to Survival Horror games in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Shades of Horror centres on a cast of survivors as they fight to escape the city of Cypress Ridge during the early days of the zombie apocalypse. Characters from previous Outbreak games will be returning in Shades of Horror, and will also have their origin stories revealed. Each survivor will have their own backstory, explaining how they ended up in Cypress Ridge, as well as their own unique skills that will allow them to make their way through the city. Shades of Horror will encourage players to play as each of the survivors “in order to construct what has happened from bits and pieces of journal entries, recordings and radio station broadcasts scattered throughout the city.”

As before, the playable teaser for Outbreak: Shades of Horror is still available for players to try via Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Stadia.

Developer Dead Drop Studios is continuing with their Outbreak series of Survival Horror titles with Outbreak: Shades of Horror. This time around, they’re using Kickstarter to help get the game off the ground. Dead Drop Studios has also partnered with Limited Run Games to offer physical versions of the game, along with merchandise.

The story for Shades of Horror centres on a cast of survivors as they fight to escape the city of Cypress Ridge during the early days of the zombie apocalypse. Characters from previous Outbreak games will be returning in Shades of Horror, along with the reveal of their origins.

Outbreak: Shades of Horror is touted as a “love letter” to the Survival Horror games in the late 1990s and early 2000s. “Towards the end of this era, there was an emphasis on stories driven by multiple characters that utilized multiplayer co-op,” read the description on the Kickstarter page. “This model of storytelling was abandoned with the rise of action horror. This left a loyal fanbase (these developers included) desperate for someone to revisit the survival horror genre and expand on the untapped potential left in this style of play. With Outbreak: Shades of Horror, Dead Drop Studios harness this potential to craft an essential new entry in the survival horror genre.”

Seeing as this is a Kickstarter campaign, there will be stretch goals for Shades of Horror. Those haven’t been revealed as of yet, as the team wants to focus on fully funding the game first. However, from the teaser images, it would appear that crossplay is a possibility, along with what looks to be dinosaurs (?!).

Currently, you can try out a playable teaser for the game via Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Stadia.

Well, that didn’t take long. First released for the Nintendo Switch back on April 7, The House of the Dead: Remake takes the original Sega arcade classic and revamps it with new graphics and gameplay tweaks for a modern audience.

In addition, there will be a physical release for the Switch version of the game on May 26 in Europe and June 14 in North America. No word on if the PlayStation or Xbox versions will receive the same treatment.

There’s also been no update on the announced remake of The House of the Dead 2, which Forever Entertainment had announced at the same time as HOTD: Remake a few years ago.

We’ve been waiting on any news regarding Resident Evil Village DLC since it was first announced back at E3 2021. And while we’re no closer to an announcement yet, according to the recent internal report by Capcom, we’re potentially in for some free DLC.

According to the document, which mostly details the previous year’s events for the company as well as its future plans, one section (page 48, if you’re curious) mentions free DLC for both Monster Hunter Rise and the aforementioned Resident Evil Village. The document states that Capcom will “drive our customer management to understand the playing trends and preferences of users while also building a business model for online operations, taking into account the situation of our free additional DLC for titles such as Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil Village.”

Other than that paragraph, nothing else mentions any details for the DLC, including whether or not Capcom will adopt the model that they went with for a combination of free and paid DLC for Resident Evil VII. Then there was the hinting by voice actor Neil Newbon (who voiced Village‘s Karl Heisenberg) that he could be involved with Resident Evil again in some capacity, not to mention Ada being left on the cutting room floor for Village.

Regardless, it looks to be another “stay tuned” situation.

Resident Evil Village is out now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Google Stadia, and PC via Steam.

Are you one of the few people who hasn’t snagged Resident Evil 7 yet? That number is getting smaller, as Capcom has announced that their return to form for the Resident Evil series has now sold 10 million units worldwide.

“Released in January 2017, Resident Evil 7 biohazard builds upon the series’ roots of fear, exploration and tense atmosphere,” explains Capcom in their news release. “The game’s system underwent a dramatic shift from its previous third-person camera to a new first-person perspective in order to provide an overwhelming, deeply immersive horror experience, garnering high praise from major review sites and other media.”

Subsequently, Japanese Switch owners have been enjoying a cloud-based version since May 2018, while the Stadia version was released earlier this year in April.

In case you’re curious, even with the milestone, Resident Evil 7 is still firmly in second place in Capcom’s “Platinum Titles” list behind Monster Hunter: World. The next closest Resident Evil entry would be the Resident Evil 2 remake, which should be hitting the 10 million mark in the very near future.

Resident Evil 7 is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.

With the Lament Configuration opened, Pinhead arrives in Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight next month. The developer made the announcement earlier with a press release, confirming that Pinhead will arrive in September to torment some souls.

“Hellraiser’s Pinhead is one of the most stunning and memorable characters among all the iconic killers of the horror genre”, says Dave Richard, Creative Director of Dead by Daylight. “Not only is he highly charismatic, but he also embraces deeply disturbing horror themes, so our fans have been requesting him for a long time. Bringing Pinhead into the Fog is a way for us to give fans something they want, while cementing our reputation as the Hall of Fame of Horror.”

In fact, Pinhead is currently available on the Dead by Daylight test servers, which in response fans have taken the opportunity to record some of Pinhead’s exploits.

While specifics as to what’s in store for fans wasn’t made available, the Hellraiser Chapter of Dead by Daylight will be available in September for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Steam, Windows Store, Xbox One as well as the Xbox Series. Dead by Daylight Mobile will also be getting in on the fun before the end of the year.

Akupara Games and developer Clover Bite’s “Soulslike Metroidvania” GRIME is out today. And with it, a new launch trailer that unlike the cinematic trailer from last week, feels more like an epic opening cutscene. Not that that’s a bad thing.

The story has you “squeezed into existence” from unusual material that has collapsed in on itself. Born into an alien world, you must survive the harsh world by crushing your foes with living weapons that mutate form and function. After which, you then consume their remains with a black hole to strengthen yourself “as you break apart a world of anatomical horror and intrigue.”

GRIME is out now for PC via Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, and Google Stadia for $24.99.

With Capcom finally resolving the performance issues with the PC version of Resident Evil Village, fans can now expect to enjoy a more optimized version of the game. That, of course, means it’s mod time.

Over at the Resident Evil Modding Board, modder JTeghius Kittius has begun bringing Leon Kennedy into Village in the most efficient way possible: by snagging the Dead by Daylight model, and Frankensteining Leon’s head from the Resident Evil 2 remake onto the body. “I’m surprised that with the game being out for 2,5 months [sic] no-one has made a Leon mod yet, especially with how everyone said this game was very RE4 inspired,” says JTeghius in his forum post.

In all honesty, it looks much better than it sounds. The mod is using one of the 3rd-person camera mods to accomplish this, so expect the same issues as with the previous attempts at implementing a 3rd-person camera.

To get this mod going, you’ll need FluffyQuack’s fluffymanager. And, if you do watch the video below, JTeghius does warn people that he’s playing in Mercenaries Mode, so expect some spoilers if you haven’t had the chance to complete the game.

Resident Evil Village is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Google Stadia. Thanks to SiliconEra for spotting this one.

In prepping for its release next week, publisher Akupara Games and developer Clover Bite have dropped a cinematic trailer for GRIME, which was produced by PLAYSENSE. The trailer definitely exudes the dark and dangerous mood that GRIME is purported to embody.

In a press release, PLAYSENSE creative lead Alex Zhdanovich stated that working with Clover Bite and Akupara was “a pure pleasure and a great experience” for the agency. “We went through several hundred games on various platforms before picking GRIME as it’s a special project sporting a unique setting and a huge potential. By creating this trailer, we meant to help develop the video game industry and support young indie-developers at the beginning of their journey.”

GRIME is due out on Google Stadia and PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store on August 2.

Event though Mortal Kombat 11 is effectively done in terms of additional content, given the latest sales numbers, it’d be difficult for Warner Bros and NetherRealm to pass up an opportunity to revisit the series again.

In a new press release, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer NetherRealm Studios announced that Mortal Kombat 11 has now sold over 12 million units. Furthermore, the total console sales of the franchise has now crossed over 73 million.

According to NetherRealm Studios creative director and Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon, when the franchise first hit arcades 30 years ago, “I never dreamed it would grow into the franchise it is today with more than 73 million games sold. We have some of the most passionate fans in the world and we appreciate the support they have shown us over the years.”

Additionally, Mortal Kombat Mobile has amassed 138 million installs, with millions of active users.

What’s next for Boon and company is anyone’s guess. There’s the rumour (perpetuated by Boon, of course) that NetherRealm is working away at a fighting game using Marvel Comics’ properties, but nothing has come of it (yet).

Meanwhile, Kojima Productions announced earlier that their debut game Death Stranding has hit a milestone of its own. In addition to a new interview with GamesIndustry.biz, the developer has announced that the game has sold over 5 million units across PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

That number will only go up with the upcoming release of the Director’s Cut of Death Stranding for the PlayStation 5, which is expected on September 24.

Mortal Kombat 11 and its DLC Aftermath is available now on PC via Steam,  PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.

In what will surprise very few people, Capcom has again delayed the launch of Resident Evil Re:Verse from its previous July 2021 release to 2022. The free companion multiplayer game was supposed to launch with Resident Evil Village back in May, but was delayed for unknown reasons. Prior to that, the open beta test for Re:Verse was temporarily pulled due to matchmaking issues.

Capcom’s justification for the delay this time is to allow the team to “deliver a smooth gameplay experience”. Capcom is planning to share updated launch details at a later date.

As for those who purchased a physical version of Resident Evil Village, Capcom recommends that you keep track of the included Resident Evil Re:Verse download code, or add it to your account now.

Resident Evil Village is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Google Stadia.

For those who own Resident Evil Village on Steam, you’ve probably noticed at some point performance hiccups while playing the game. It turns out that the performance issues are a side effect of Capcom’s use of DRM protection. How do we know? A hacking group was able to fix the issues by cracking the game.

As reported by DSOGaming, a hacking group known as Empress successfully cracked Village and circumvented Capcom’s anti-tamper V3 protection, as well as the Denuvo security. By doing so, the game no longer suffers from stutters when killing zombies, watching cutscenes and other problem areas.

However, it would seem that the cracked version isn’t perfect. As noted in the video below, while the game does run smoother, animations are now missing when the players are attacked by Cassandra Dimitrescu. Still, one hopes that Capcom will eventually decide to remove the code that’s causing the performance issues.

After all, how else are players going to enjoy their mods effectively?

Resident Evil Village is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC via Steam, and Google Stadia.

Obviously, things have slowed down since the game garnered 3 million sold in its first four days, but I doubt anyone would want to argue that 4.5 million units is a bad sales figure. Plus, we still have more Village on the way, so that number will be a distant memory not long after that.

Resident Evil Village is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC via Steam and Google Stadia.

As the press release states, the wait. Is. Over. Resident Evil‘s crossover with Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight arrives today on PC and consoles, complete with a new trailer.

Arguably one of the most anticipated chapters for Dead by Daylight, the new chapter features Nemesis as the Killer (known in-game as The Tyrant), while Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine arrive as the new Survivors. With their arrival comes a new map, and new gameplay mechanics.

“The Resident Evil Chapter marks an important milestone for Dead by Daylight and we’re very moved to finally see it out!” says Dave Richard, Creative Director for Dead by Daylight. “On top of immersing fans in one of the most popular horror universes, we’re also introducing new dynamics such as the integration of AI-controlled characters. This will give players something completely new to discover and we can’t wait for them to finally experience it!”

The Resident Evil Chapter is available for US$11.99 for consoles and PC. Those who purchase the Resident Evil Chapter will get a free exclusive in-game charm: the Umbrella Corporation.

Dead by Daylight is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Google Stadia, and PC via Steam and the Windows Store.

In fact, Behaviour currently has the base game and several of the DLCs available for discount on digital stores now.

Of course, no details were revealed, so we just have to speculate as to what that might be. Will Ada Wong be brought back after she was cut from the original game? Hey, anything Capcom puts out will be welcome.

In addition, the delayed standalone multiplayer pack-in in Resident Evil Re:Verse will now be aiming for a July release. It’s still free, and is still being included with Resident Evil Village.

Once again, Resident Evil Village is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC via Steam and Google Stadia.

After giving fans a taste earlier this week, Ubisoft has revealed Rainbow Six Extraction, their co-op tactical first-person shooter that’s set to hit PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC, and Stadia on September 16.

Extraction has players assemble their team from the 18 Operators from Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege to launch incursions into containment zones that have been invaded by a lethal alien threat known as the Archæns. Each Operator has a specific set of weapons, gadgets, and abilities to master, allowing for limitless customizability.

Set in four regions across the US, containment zones are infested by the Archæns. Use your Operators’ abilities to overcome the situation to accomplish your objectives, and extract from the containment zone. The 12 uniquely designed maps feature procedurally-generated challenges, enemies, infestation, and increasing difficulty. The deeper you go, the greater the danger, but so are the rewards.

For existing owners of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, purchasing Extraction will instantly unlock the entire roster of 18 operators from Siege as well as grant you the United Front cosmetic bundles in both games.

It seems that the parody commercial with Resident Evil Village‘s Lady Dimitrescu action figure may have caught the attention of Capcom, as they’ve announced that as part of the milestone of their Dev1 Twitter account reaching 50,000 followers, Capcom are holding a contest to win a Lady Dimitrescu figurine!

Produced by Gecco Corp (who also did that line of Robbie The Rabbit figures from Silent Hill 3), the 1:8 scale figurine of the vampire lady will come with a certificate of authenticity, and a signature from the Art Director who designed her (one would assume that would be Resident Evil Village‘s Art Director Tomonori Takano). The thing is, this is a one-of-a-kind figure, meaning that only one will be produced.

So, how do you win? Head on over to the official rules over on the contest’s webpage, for starters. Essentially, you follow the Dev1 Twitter and retweet the pinned competition tweet. Participants will have until June 13th to enter, so get going.

The video shows Lady D facing off against Bloodborne‘s Lady Maria in a theoretical 3-round “boss vs. boss” battle, Machinima style. That’s right, this unfortunately isn’t a straight-up gameplay mod for Bloodborne (though we so wish it was). It’s still damn cool that someone took the time to put this together, and makes you wish that From Software would actually give us a sequel to Bloodborne (or a least a PC port).

Modder Fluffyquack has graced the Resident Evil series once again, as they’re currently working on a third-person camera mod for the recently-released Resident Evil Village. Not to be confused with DarknessValtier’s quick third-person camera mod (which was first implemented in the Village demo), Fluffyquack has been working to get their mod into a more playable state.

Of course, since Village was never really meant to be played from a third-person perspective, there are limitations/difficulties in getting the mod to work properly. As Fluffyquack details, the mod as it stands makes it next-to-impossible to interact with objects, due to the game calculating the interaction from the camera’s distance, not the player position. Worst of all, the camera looks in the wrong direction when having to do any sort of aiming, shooting or reloading.

Plus, as in DarknessValtier’s mod, there’s still the issue of Ethan not having a head. But that’s where character swapping mods come in.

Fluffyquack is unsure if they’ll be able to get it working properly, but as these things go, other modders will sometimes pick up the work to try and tackle it themselves to get a solution.

And hey, there are always other mods you can try out on the Steam version if you’re feeling like Village needs a bit of spontaneity. Resident Evil Village is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Google Stadia.

Thanks to Eurogamer for the heads up.

After all the hype, the reviews (here’s ours, in case you missed it), and the nightmarish mods, just how has Capcom fared with Resident Evil Village? Quite well, actually.

According to Capcom’s figures, the eighth main entry in the franchise has shipped and digitally sold over 3 million units since its release on May 7. By comparison, Resident Evil VII shipped 2.5 million units in the same timeframe.

Village still has a ways to go before catching RE7‘s cumulative 8.5 million units. In fact, the Resident Evil 2 remake may catch up to RE7 before Village, as it currently sits at 7.9 million units sold. All in total, the Resident Evil series has surpassed 100 million units.

Resident Evil Village is currently available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC via Steam, and Google Stadia.

It seems not everyone is happy with Resident Evil Village, as in the case of Richard Raaphorst. Raaphorst is putting forward accusations of plagiarism towards Capcom over a specific monster design that looks very similar to a monster that was used in Rapphorst’s 2013 film Frankenstein’s Army.

Raaphorst took to Twitter and LinkedIn to voice his view that Capcom lifted his design of one of the creatures found in the film “completely without authorization or credit”.

MILD SPOILER ALERT: The creature in question is a monster found in Frankenstein’s Army with a plane propeller and engine for a head/torso. The one found in Village is a boss character with a similar configuration that you end up setting on fire, which coincidentally also happens in the film.

Apparently, this isn’t the only instance found in Village, either. A fan pointed out on Twitter other designs of Village monsters bearing similarities with Frankenstein’s Army monsters:

Capcom has yet to respond to the accusations.

Resident Evil Village is out now on PC, Google Stadia, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.

Big thanks to RelyOnHorror for this one.

And so it begins.

Stop us if you haven’t heard this one before: Resident Evil Village is out now, and people are loving it. You know who else is loving it? Modders. We had a brief taste of what’s to come with the demo, and now that the game is out, people are letting their imaginations go.

For starters, we told you about the mod that brings Thomas The Tank Engine into Village…as Lady Dimitresu’s face. But now there’s more horrifying mods, such as JTegh’s Mini Me Chris, which turns baby Rose into Chris Redfield in a weird Austin Powers joke gone horribly wrong.

Want more? While this is not exactly horrifying, but you can now give Lady Dimitrescu “mommy glasses” with the Mommy Glasses mod. Quite stylish, and dare we say that Gary Oldman’s Dracula now has an appropriate counterpart? Missing Ada Wong after she was cut from the game? Why not bring her back with Stevebg23’s Lady Wong mod that gives Lady Dimitrescu an Ada makeover?

Of course, since everyone’s still going nuts over Lady D, there are more than a few mods over at Nexus Mods. Do you want to replace the suits of armor in Castle Dimitrescu with statues of the vampire lady herself? You can. Want to switch it up with the original scary stalker in Mr. X hunting you in Village? The Lady X mod has got you covered. Or perhaps you want to pay tribute to the late Jeanette Maus, and play as Cassandra Dimitrescu instead of Ethan?

Character swaps aren’t the only mods happening for Village, as you can also swap Ethan’s knife for a series of flyswatters. Of course, if you just wanted to get rid of the flies around the Dimitrescu daughters the easy way, you can use Raq’s mod for that.

There’s a lot to be found for Village‘s mods, and that list is only going to grow. So head on over to Nexus Mods, grab Fluffy Manager to actually get these mods working, and go to town.

Resident Evil Village is out now on PC (if you’re into mods) via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Google Stadia.

Senior Video Editor at IGN Kevin Cappiello decided to answer that question with a mock commercial for a Lady Dimitrescu action figure!

Cappiello posted his efforts on Twitter. The result combines fan fascination with the tall vampire lady, as well as hamming it up with something you’d find with 90s action figure commercials. And yes, she’s huge.

The action figure in question is actually a real thing (sort of). Specifically, it’s a design by Printed Obsession. You can download the STL model for free from their MyMiniFactory page.

Resident Evil Village is out now for PC via Steam, Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series, if you didn’t already know.

As part of the release of Capcom’s latest entry in the franchise, someone decided to do a giant chalk Lycan drawing in this Somerset, UK field. Pretty impressive work, regardless of whether Capcom paid for it.

Best of all, with Twitter doing away with its cropping of images, you can see it now in all its glory.

More Resident Evil Village news? Sure! We already know that the late Jeanette Maus voiced Cassandra Dimitrescu, one of Lady Dimitrescu’s daughters in the game, but what about the towering vampire lady herself?

Well, seeing as the game is out now, actress Maggie Robertson has been revealed to be the voice and performance capture artist for Lady Dimitrescu. Of course, Maggie joined Twitter yesterday and dropped a hint of what was to come:

And now that the cat’s out of the bag, she made it official this morning:

Horror isn’t a one-off thing for Maggie, either. She’ll be appearing next in Blaze Lovejoy’s The Zompocalypse Therapy Sessions, which is currently in post-production.

Meanwhile, Resident Evil Village is out today. Read our review, buy the game, and enjoy the weekend.

So, Resident Evil Village. It’s out today. You can read our take, and you can go buy it. If you’re a big fan, you can spring for the Trauma Pack DLC that’s available in the Collector’s, Deluxe, and Complete Editions. Alongside the goodies in the DLC are production notes, and one of which reveals that a fan favourite character was originally going to be in Village, but was eventually cut.

IGN revealed that in ‘The Tragedy of Ethan Winters Artwork’, a gallery of artwork that’s part of the Trauma Pack DLC, there are a set of images showing concept designs for Ada Wong. However, in lieu of her iconic red dress, Ada is decked out in a Plague Doctor outfit reminiscent of something out of Bloodborne.

According to the accompanying description, early on in development, there were plans for a “mysterious masked person that saves Ethan.” It turns out that this was going to be Ada investigating the village. Ada was subsequently cut “due to a number of conflicting scenarios.”

Given how Village was already stuffed with personalities and plot, it’s understandable why Capcom chose to axe this one. However, one can always hope that Capcom would revisit the idea in the form of more DLC at some point.

Resident Evil Village is out now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Google Stadia, and PC via Steam.

According to Roth, fans had been asking for Crypt characters to make an appearance in Dead by Daylight “for years”, and the result are three costumes for The Huntress, The Doctor and The Hag, who can now dress up to look like The Mordeo, The Look-See and The Birch Witch, respectively.

Meanwhile, with Resident Evil Village on everyone’s mind this Friday, the crossover with Dead by Daylight and Resident Evil will be revealed on May 25th, with the chapter getting a release sometime next month.

Dead by Daylight is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Stadia, and the Nintendo Switch.

With the extended time frame of playing the Resident Evil Village demo, you knew that some players would be looking for ways to get around the 60-minute time limit. Lo and behold, someone has found a way to reset the demo timer.

The demo communicates with Capcom’s servers with a countdown timer. Users on the Steam forums were able to identify and alter the files with a trainer to simply reset the timer.

Of course, Capcom caught wind of this, and took down the server to prevent players from further exploiting the hack. The results of this were predictable:

Meanwhile, seeing as Village uses the RE Engine, you knew that someone was going to employ some of the modding techniques that we got with the Resident Evil 2 remake and Resident Evil 3. The modder known as Marcos certainly took advantage of it, bringing everyone’s favourite purple dinosaur into Village:

https://twitter.com/MarcosRCRE/status/1389116952170450945

Marcos wasn’t the only one to pull some trickery, as another modder, DarknessValtier, was able to get a third-person camera working for Village. Guess we’ll have to wait for the inevitable full game version for that one.

Resident Evil Village unleashes onto the masses May 7 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Google Stadia, and PC via Steam.

Once again, the curse of Resident Evil online has reared its ugly head. Those in the Resident Evil Ambassador Program have begun receiving emails stating that Resident Evil Re:Verse is being delayed from its launch next month.

Originally, the online companion multiplayer game was supposed to ship with Resident Evil Village. That is no longer the case, as the game appears to have been delayed to Summer 2021. No further information was announced in the emails.

Given that the open beta test last month had to be pulled due to matchmaking issues (though it subsequently came back later), this isn’t boding well for Capcom in their attempts to get Resident Evil successful in an online capacity.

Resident Evil Village is due out May 7th, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Google Stadia and PC via Steam.

After receiving criticism from fans and outlets alike for the time constraints placed on the Resident Evil Village demos, Capcom has decided to correct that wrong with the upcoming May demo.

Capcom took to Twitter to announce that the upcoming May demo, which was originally set for a 24-hour window availability, has now been extended from May 1 to May 9th (May 2 to May 10 for Europe). Unfortunately, the 60-minute time limit still remains, but you know that someone will try to find a way to extend that (much like they did with the One-Shot demo for the Resident Evil 2 remake).

As detailed during the last Resident Evil Showcase, Resident Evil Village‘s final demo will combine the PlayStation-exclusive Castle and Village demos into one 60-minute demo across all platforms. The demo’s availability will run from May 1 at 5 PM PDT until May 9 at 5 PM PDT in North America, UK players have it from May 2 at 1 AM BST until May 10 at 1 AM BST, and the rest of Europe will have the demo run from May 2 at 2 AM CEST until May 10 at 2 AM CEST.

The real deal arrives on May 7 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Google Stadia, and PC via Steam.

While it’s safe to say that Capcom probably will never top their TV ad for the original Resident Evil 2, they can try with an entirely different route with Resident Evil Village. The latest Japanese ad for the upcoming title certainly has them going in an entirely “out there” direction (at least for Western audiences).

The ad in question (more like a music video, really) is done in a music video style that parodies Japanese pop music from the 1980s, sung by famous Enka singer Yoshi Ikuzo.

Capcom has taken Ikuzo’s iconic song “Ora Tōkyō sa Iguda”, redone the song’s lyrics and named it “Orera Konna Mura Iyada Lv.100.” The resultant video plays clips of Ikuzo performing and reacting to scenes found within Resident Evil Village.

And yes, even Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters show up (because at this point, why not?).

Resident Evil Village creeps onto the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Google Stadia, and PC via Steam on May 7th.

Those Fallout 4 modders are at it again. Well actually, they may be closet Fallout 4 fans, but are really Resident Evil Village fans at heart. Whatever the case, modder Vtaw has managed to appease both fans by creating a mod that brings everyone’s towering vampire, Village‘s Lady Dimitrescu, into Fallout 4 for the PC.

Well, more accurately, the mod brings an outfit based on Lady Dimitrescu, with the main file of this mod coming with pre-made meshes that look as close as possible to Lady Dimitrescu. You’ll be able to craft the dress at the Chem Station.

Also, according to Vtaw, the dress uses the stock Fallout 4 physics, so you’re not going to be getting something like Skyrim‘s physics. But really, those of you fans grabbing this probably won’t care too much.

Resident Evil Village, which is getting another time-limited demo this month and in May, arrives May 7 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Google Stadia, and PC via Steam. Fallout 4 can currently be had on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Thanks to DSOGaming for the heads up.

As expected, Capcom brought the goods with the Resident Evil Showcase, unveiling a brand-new trailer for Resident Evil Village. Alongside the trailer, Capcom has unveiled a new time-limited demo that had been uploaded to the PSN last week.

The new demo will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Steam and Stadia, and will allow players to explore the village and castle segments of the game, but comes with a few restrictions. The demo will be limited to 60 minutes of playtime, and will be available for only 24 hours in each region. More info can be found on the official Resident Evil Village website.

  • North America: May 1, 5PM PDT to May 2, 5PM PDT
  • Europe: May 2, 2AM CEST to May 3, 2AM CEST
  • Asia: May 2, 8AM HKT to May 3, 8AM HKT

PlayStation 4 and 5 owners will, however, be allowed early access to separate sections of the demo (which can be pre-loaded today) at the following times:

  • “Village Demo” North America: April 17, 5PM PDT to April 18, 1AM PDT
  • “Village Demo” Europe: April 18, 7PM CEST to April 19, 3AM CEST

  • “Castle Demo” Asia: April 25, 5PM HKT to April 26, 1AM HKT

In addition to the demo, Capcom has unveiled that the beloved Mercenaries Mode will be making its return in Village. In case you’re unaware, Mercenaries Mode has you battling against waves of enemies as one of several characters from the game. Survive, and you’ll be able to spend the cash you’ve earned to get new weapons and upgrades for the next round.

Resident Evil Village arrives May 7 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Google Stadia, and PC via Steam.

Need a hit of Resident Evil Village news this morning? Game Informer has posted a new video for the upcoming title that focuses on Village‘s upgrade system.

Part of that new upgrade system is the introduction of animal hunting. Aside from the werewolves and other monsters lurking about, you also have animals that you can hunt and butcher for meat. Of course, these animals won’t go down easily, so you’ll have to reserve your ammo, and make every shot count.

Once you’ve secured your kills, you can take these ingredients to The Duke’s Kitchen, where The Duke will exchange them for upgrades to Ethan’s arsenal.

If hunting isn’t your thing, you can also use lei, the game’s currency. You can pick up lei up from fallen enemies, and exchange that with The Duke for upgrades to power, rate of fire, reload speed, and ammo capacity. And yes, keep an eye out for hidden treasures that hold more lei.

Resident Evil Village is due out for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC via Steam, and Google Stadia on May 7.

On top of the rumour regarding the future of the Resident Evil series yesterday, noted leaker Dusk Golem is at it again. This time, the rumour concerns the upcoming Resident Evil Village, which according to Dusk Golem, will have a new unlockable mode that turns the game into a glorified roguelike.

According to Dusk Golem, after completing the main game, a new mode will be unlocked that randomizes items and enemies within the game. Capcom apparently had played with the idea of making a mode similar to Resident Evil 7‘s Ethan Must Die mode, but ended up expanding it into “an expansive difficulty mode” that opens up the game more than before, but also increases the difficulty along with the item and enemy randomization.

As before, Capcom has yet to acknowledge or confirm that this is occurring, but as pointed out before, Dusk Golem has been correct on these sorts of things in the past. Furthermore, with the second Resident Evil Showcase right around the corner, we could see this news dropped as part of the reveal (alongside the second demo).

Resident Evil Village arrives May 7 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Google Stadia, and PC via Steam.

Once again, we’ve got another rumour related to the Resident Evil series from noted leaker Dusk Golem. This time, rather than focusing on the upcoming Resident Evil Village, the rumour concerns future entries in the franchise.

According to Dusk Golem via Twitter, after Village and Resident Evil 9 (because come on, you know it’ll happen), Capcom will begin moving away from numbered entries. Instead, the series will shift towards self-contained stories.

Dusk Golem also claims that due to their proximity in terms of their development, Resident Evil 7, 8 and 9 will share a closely-connected story, with some unexplained elements in RE7 being explained in Village, for example. None of this has been verified by Capcom (obviously), who had to deal with a rather severe leak last year with regards to its upcoming titles.

And yes, if you’re wondering, Dusk Golem has been right in the past regarding rumours surrounding Resident Evil Village, so there is precedent. But until Capcom says anything (or another unfortunate leak happens), keep your salt handy.

Resident Evil Village drops on May 7 for Google Stadia, PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.

IGN has provided some new art for Resident Evil Village to end your Friday, including the first art for a character that plays a huge role in the game (and no, it’s not more Lady Dimitrescu).

For starters, the map of the village where the game takes place has been revealed, showing four major locations: Castle Dimitrescu (which is where the PS5 exclusive Maiden demo takes place), Moreau’s Reservoir, Heisenberg’s Factory (no Breaking Bad jokes), and House Beneviento.

According to director Morimasa Sato, Village actually shares similarities with Resident Evil 4 (which also started out in a rural village) in terms of its variety of gameplay and enemies. “When you hear the word ‘village’, you might imagine quaint houses lined up along a street, but that’s not really enough to make a videogame out of,” explains Sato. “Especially in a horror game, I think it’s important to keep providing new experiences along the way. Within the village, it’s important to keep delivering new surprises to the player.”

The other big news (and in another RE4 similarity) is Mother Miranda, who is worshipped by the villagers in Village (not unlike Los Iluminados and Sadler in RE4). Not much is known about Mother Miranda, other than the footage revealed so far of villagers chanting her name, and Lady Dimitrescu conversing with her over the phone.

Capcom has fortunately unveiled a portrait of the mysterious woman, which appears as a sort of religious iconography. Sato explains that she was named “mother” in the religious meaning of the word, but wouldn’t say much more in terms of what else that might mean.

“For Mother Miranda, I think it’s better for the players to find out for themselves by playing the game,” says Sato. “But I’ll say this: Mother Miranda and the inner side of her character are extremely important factors in the game.”

Another image shows Ethan and Chris Redfield (with Ethan’s baby) in front of Mother Miranda, who is wearing a mask that’s akin to a crow, which art director Tomonori Takano explains was intentional as the main motif for Mother Miranda’s design. “The mask resembles a crow’s beak,” Takano says. “As a symbol of horror, crows function as a theme for Village in its entirety as well, and they appear in the actual game. Since she has a symbolic role within the village, we implemented that same design theme for Mother Miranda.”

Obviously, Capcom is hesitant to reveal too much more, but they might also be waiting for the second Resident Evil Showcase happening next week.

Resident Evil Village arrives on Google Stadia, PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series on May 7, alongside Resident Evil RE:Verse.

So, that Resident Evil Re:Verse Open Beta that started today? Remember the part where we said that the servers could be taken down if issues arise? Well, lo and behold, that’s what’s happened.

Capcom has taken to Twitter to announce that due to the issues related to matchmaking, they’ve temporarily suspended the Open Beta until they fix the service. It seems that the curse of online Resident Evil games is still alive for the time being.

Resident Evil RE:Verse launches alongside Resident Evil Village on May 7 for PC via Steam, Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.

According to MP1st, we may not have to wait much longer for that second non-exclusive Resident Evil Village demo. The site reports that four new SKUs for USA, Japan, Europe, and Asia regions have been uploaded to the back end of the PlayStation Network, with the name “Resident Evil Village Gameplay Demo” (though Japan’s is obviously named “Biohazard“).

MP1st also revealed that the demo itself is around 10GB, and contains that image of Chris spliced with a wolf’s head, which for now we can still only speculate what it’s about. Lastly, the files for the demo contain references to remote play functionality, as well as Vita controls.

Capcom had mentioned that a second demo not exclusive to the PS5 would be arriving this Spring. And unlike the Maiden demo, the new demo would focus solely on gameplay instead of being a graphical showcase.

No release date has been set for the demo, but seeing as we’re due for another Resident Evil Showcase later this month, you can bet that the demo will be part of that.

Resident Evil Village arrives on Google Stadia, PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series on May 7, alongside Resident Evil RE:Verse.

It’s about that time for your Resident Evil Village fix. Luckily, IGN has a little something for you in the form of some new concept art for the upcoming Survival Horror ditty.

In addition to Village‘s art director Tomonori Takano sharing some concept pieces, he also once again dished on Lady Dimitrescu. To add to his previous reveal about her height, Takano has revealed that the towering vampire’s shoe size is 44 cm (17.3 inches), which is almost double the average women’s shoe size. Takano designed Lady Dimitrescu’s shoes based on a real pair of high heels, which he scanned and then digitally resized to match Dimitrescu’s height.

And yes, he provided a picture of the shoes.

In addition to shoes, Takano also talks about the origins of the villainess (in addition to the previous Morticia Addams/Elizabeth Báthory info), saying that the team initially had Resident Evil 7‘s Mia “and made her wear a dress and hat” in their early tests. “I thought that this would be enough to give her a ghost-like quality, but we couldn’t make her feel scary. Then, we decided to make the character model much larger. That was the beginning of Lady Dimitrescu.”

From there, Takano and director Morimasa Sato began developing the idea to create a castle environment for Dimitrescu, which originally was entirely populated by women. “The original concept was a castle populated only by women,” Sato recalls. “We tried a lot of different things in order to make the Countess scary and feel like a boss character. There were ideas to make her more creature-like as well, but in the end we felt that a towering woman was the most simple yet powerful thing we could do.”

To check out the rest of the interview, you can hit up the link above. Resident Evil Village arrives May 7 for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC via Steam, and Stadia.

In addition to the Open Beta announcement for Resident Evil RE:Verse and Resident Evil Village coming to Google Stadia, Capcom revealed a third announcement during the Resident Evil 25th anniversary celebrations with a second Resident Evil Showcase coming next month!

No exact date has been announced for the showcase, though Capcom is playing it coy. “We don’t want to spoil any surprises, so we’ll leave it to all of you to speculate on what this upcoming presentation might contain.” At the very least, you can revisit the January showcase here.

Does it mean that we could be hearing more about the upcoming adaptations coming to Netflix (including the film reboot)? Will we hear more about the rumoured-but-not-officially-announced Resident Evil 4 remake? Start your speculation.

Dead by Daylight is getting another Killer, and depending on your musical tastes, it might be more horrific than what we’ve gotten so far. Revealed by IGN, developer Behaviour Interactive has teamed up with U-KISS member Kevin Woo and DJ Swivel (the latter having previously collaborated with K-pop band BTS) as part of the upcoming Chapter XIX update to reveal The Trickster.

Armed with a baseball bat and throwing knives, The Trickster fronts the fictional band No Spin. Or he did, until he accidentally on purpose let his bandmates be burned alive in a fire. From there, man formerly known as Ji-Woon would earn his notoriety by becoming addicted to murder, cutting his victim’s screams with his music. Standing in The Trickster’s way is a new survivor, Yun-Jin, a producer The Trickster failed to kill before both were dragged into the fog.

Currently, the Chapter is only available on the Test Server on Steam, which also includes a number of fixes and updates. No word on when the new Chapter will go live, but it will be available across all platforms.

Dead by Daylight is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Stadia, and the Nintendo Switch.
