All good things must come to an end. And for 10 Chambers, that end is the final chapter for their horror co-op shooter GTFO. “Rundown 8.0: Duality” is available now as a free content update, raising the number of missions to 80.

The Duality expansion is the nerve-wracking conclusion to the game’s story arc, which tasks a four-player team of prisoners to escape a hellish underground complex known as Garganta. GTFO has continually evolved since the game’s launch in 2019, with Rundown 8.0: Duality being its twelfth free major content update, adding new missions (expeditions) to the game for more than 80 total. The content-packed GTFO: Final Edition treats hardcore cooperative players with hundreds of hours of paranoia, tension, and fear to last for years to come.

“The GTFO story began at The Game Awards when the game was revealed back in 2017, so of course, we felt that it was right to also announce the final chapter at this year’s show,” said Ulf Andersson, 10 Chambers founder and creative director. “It’s important to note that while the story of GTFO comes to a close, the game will continue to be alive and kicking. Whether you’re a new player or part of the existing GTFO community, the full game with four years worth of content is available to complete from start to finish — if you and your squad are up for the challenge, that is.”

GTFO will continue to receive support in the form of bug fixes. Previously released Rundown content updates, which were cycled in and out of the game quarterly since the game’s launch in 2019, will still be freely accessible, and will remain available to the game’s existing fanbase and new players alike.

GTFO: Final Edition is available on Steam (and is Steam Deck Playable) on a 40% off sale until January 4, 2024. Prospective prisoners can play GTFO during the free weekend Steam promotion from December 7 to December 11, 2023. Rundown 8.0: Duality is available now as a free update to owners.

10 Chambers’ GTFO has received its biggest update ever with the ALT://Rundown 5.0 —Rebirth update, adding a whopping 13 new expeditions to GTFO, bringing the total up to 58. Along with the new expeditions are three new weapons for you to play with, alongside a few tweaks to existing ones.

As with the previous rundowns for GTFO, in the Rebirth update, you and your team of prisoners once again descend into the deep underground, with intense firefights to follow. There’s a sighting of a terrifying monster lurking in the dark, though no doubt it’s not the last.

“So far this year, we’ve delivered three big free updates for GTFO, adding new content and unfolding the story of the underground world of GTFO,” explains Robin Björkell, Communications Director at 10 Chambers. “With this Rundown update, the prisoners will be sent even deeper down the Complex and have the chance to find records about who they are and their character’s history.”

If you’ve never played GTFO before (and why not?), the game is a cooperative multiplayer shooter where good teamwork means the difference between life and death. Cast in a four-player team of prisoners held against their will by a mysterious entity called “The Warden,” survival depends on a team’s ability to communicate, coordinate, and manage their ammunition. GTFO uses a concept called Rundowns, which are regular game updates that add new expeditions (maps, scenarios, enemies, etc.). These updates are free for everyone that owns GTFO.

And if for whatever reason you still haven’t picked up GTFO, you can pick the game up with a cool 33% discount starting June 19th on Steam.

It was so nice for 10 Chambers’ GTFO the first time around, that they’re doing it again. The horror co-op shooter is revisiting its original March 2020 Infection Rundown (the first Rundown that launched after the release of GTFO) with a revamped 2.0 update. Not only that, but the developers have announced that they’ll be permanently bringing back all previous Rundowns.

For those who don’t know, GTFO uses a concept called Rundowns, which are regular game updates that add new limited-time expeditions (maps, scenarios, enemies, etc.) that up until now, completely replace the previous Rundown. The re-release of Rundown 2.0 Infection is the latest in a planned rollout that will see every past GTFO Rundown since the game’s initial Early Access launch in December 2019 added back to the game. Once all the past Rundowns have been added, GTFO will have over 80 expeditions for fans to dive into with friends online or solo with AI partners.

In ALT://Rundown 2.0 Infection, the prisoners are tasked with retrieving a neonate Hydro Stasis Unit (HSU) and bringing it through a mysterious process involving various machines. While doing so, the prisoners will acquire hints of the state of the world outside the nightmarish undergrounds of GTFO.

“Rundown 2.0 is considered by many GTFO players as a cult classic rundown, and seeing as many current players haven’t had the chance to play it, it’s exciting to make it available permanently,” said Robin Björkell, Communications Director at 10 Chambers. “Going forward, we are going to expand this program to permanently bring back all previous Rundowns to GTFO in an alternative fashion with changes and improvements. As we don’t remove past content when adding new Rundowns, GTFO now totals 26 playable expeditions – it’s bigger than ever in terms of content and will continue to grow throughout 2023.”

ALT://Rundown 2.0 Infection is available free for everyone that owns GTFO as a game update. GTFO is available now on Steam, with a cool 30% disount on now until December 22nd.

10 Chambers has released a massive content update for their co-op horror shooter GTFO. Rundown 7.0 Rise brings 10 more expeditions to the game, along with new enemies, and a new floral Gardens environment. And for those of you still on the fence about buying GTFO, you’ll have a free weekend with the game from now until June 20th.

If you’re unfamiliar with GTFO, the game has been using a concept called Rundowns, which are regular game updates that add new limited-time expeditions (maps, scenarios, enemies, etc.) that completely replace the previous Rundown. With Rundown 7.0 Rise, players get a completely new environment in the Gardens, contrasting the cold and dark environments that were part of previous Rundowns.

Of course, new environments bring new enemies. Two new enemy types lurk within the bushes, one tentacle-clad, and the other potentially being immortal.

The update also introduces a single player tutorial where players can learn the basic gameplay concepts prior to jumping online with others. The update also includes a range of quality-of-life improvements, such as new sound effects, a more dynamic music system, updated animation, graphical enhancements, and clearer visualization of progression rewards.

“It feels great to deliver one more major update for free to our GTFO community while at the same time being able to invite everyone to try out GTFO during our free weekend on Steam,” said Robin Björkell, Communications Director at 10 Chambers. “To make onboarding a bit easier for new Prisoners brave enough to embark down in The Complex, we’ve added a solo tutorial level that will teach you the basic ropes of GTFO. But don’t keep playing solo; it’s still best to play with friends; work together, or die together.”

GTFO is available for purchase on Steam for $39.99 USD.

The new Rundown update for 10 Chambers’ GTFO is here. Called “Rebirth”, the new update not only adds the usual new goodies in terms of environments, game mechanics and enemies, but also expands the lore of GTFO.

“‘Rebirth’ sets players farther down into The Complex into an area called Floodways — a new environment that substitutes a dark and cold industrial aesthetic for one where nature has sought to reclaim the domain. Further expanding the lore of GTFO, within Floodways are clues as to why players are trapped in The Complex and imprisoned by The Warden.”

The Floodways aren’t the only new addition, as players will now have to contend with the Spawner. Spawners reside on ceilings, and have the unfortunate habit of giving birth to monsters even in rooms you’ve already cleared, making backtracking that much more tense.

Lastly, the big addition to the game are Booster Implants. Collect artifacts during the Rundown and offer them to The Warden for a prize: an injection of a “special” liquid that boosts your abilities. Best of all, the Booster Implants carry over to additional Rundown playthroughs, even if you’re killed.

GTFO is out now in Early Access on Steam.

Set against a flythrough of the various environments found in the game, the interview may or may not (hint, hint) include some teases about what’s in store for the upcoming Rundown when it arrives on April 29th.

The devs state that with the upcoming Rundown 005, things will “undoubtedly look different,” as the new environment will be “adding elements to the Complex you haven’t seen” with “a more spacious feel and vertical playability”.

The post on Steam doesn’t reveal too much as to what’s in store (obviously), though the team hints at new enemies that will certainly make your extraction more difficult in the new Rundown.

While it might not seem like a big deal, 10 Chambers Collective are celebrating their co-op horror shooter GFTO‘s one-year anniversary on Steam Early Access. By presenting a bunch of statistics.

In all seriousness, though. In an email sent out to fans, 10 Chambers has laid out the year’s happenings, including the release of GTFO‘s first three Rundowns, which introduced new enemies, environments and weapons to the game, as well as the title’s new matchmaking option. “Our eternal respect if you’ve been with us since day one and finished all of them. And more is coming!”

The title’s review score on Steam has also seen improvement to a whopping 96%. To celebrate, 10 Chambers are giving those fence-sitters a 20% discount to buy the game. The discount ends on December 22nd, so if you’re still looking for that Christmas gift for that someone, you know what to do.

As for the video, the devs have collected stats on what weapons players used the most, how many times they died, how many enemies were killed, what Expedition was the toughest, and more. No word on when the next Rundown will be, but you’ve still got plenty to choose from in the game at the moment. GTFO is expected to exit Early Access next year.

Fans of GTFO will have another Rundown to look forward to later this week. 10 Chambers Collective have announced that Rundown 004: Contact will release on Thursday, October 22nd, meaning that those who are enjoying Rundown 003: The Vessel will have to finish up their objectives soon before the map is wiped.

While details are light on Rundown 004: Contact (on purpose, mind you), 10 Chambers have stated that the new Rundown will introduce “some big new core features” that will excite both seasoned veterans of the game, as well as newcomers. Among the new goodies for Contact include a new environment known as the Datacenter, a “new, creepy enemy” along with the usual new weapons and tools.

The new Rundown will go live at 1 PM CET on Thursday.

GTFO is currently in Early Access on Steam.

If you haven’t yet experienced the glorious mayhem and tension that 10 Chambers Collective’s action/horror FPS GTFO brings to co-op shooters, the upcoming third update is definitely one you should check out. Releasing on June 11, the third event aka Rundown, entitled “The Vessel“, features brand-new story elements, along with a new environment called “Lab”, seven new expeditions, new weapons, and of course, a new enemy.

The upcoming rundown features a story element told from the viewpoint of one of the crew’s younger family members. “The story of GTFO has been somewhat of a mysterium, and we also want to keep it partly that way and not disclose everything about it openly and easily accessible, as it brings together the community in discussions and helping each other find the clues and figure out how they all fit together”, says 10 Chambers’ Simon Viklund. “In Rundown 003, The Vessel, you will be able to find more of these clues and start getting a better picture of what is really happening down in The Complex.”

To help them flesh out the story, 10 Chambers has enlisted the help of Adam Gascoine, who has previously worked on DOOM, DOOM Eternal, and The Last of Us. “We have also added strength to programming, and design and illustration – where we have found someone very fitting for GTFO”, states 10 Chambers founder Ulf Andersson.

Currently, GTFO is in Early Access on Steam.

10 Chambers Collective are still working away at their squad-based FPS GTFO, which is scheduled to hit Steam Early Access before the year is out. To get the hype train going, the devs have released a new trailer showing what’s referred to as “The Rundown”.

The Rundown is basically the menu you’ll get upon launching GTFO, showing what your objectives are for the mission. As you know, in GTFO, players are captives in an underground complex who are tasked with a work order every time they log into the game. There’ll be different tiers, and the deeper you go into the underground complex, the harder the missions will be.

Additionally, there’ll be a countdown timer for the Rundown. After the countdown ends, the objectives will be replaced by new ones, leaving the previous Rundown objectives unavailable. The goal is to provide a dynamic environment for players while also focusing on a common set of missions at a time.

If you can’t wait, there’ll be an Ambassador Beta Test ahead of the Steam Early Access release. For a chance to be selected, sign up here.

Earlier this month, 10 Chambers kicked off their 3-part documentary on their upcoming team-based shooter title GTFO with an all-too-brief introduction. Now things are kicking into gear with the first part of the documentary, which was released today.

Simon Viklund returns once again to give an overview of the different aspects of the game, among which is the unique storytelling structure. Instead of a “traditional story campaign mode” to reveal and tell the story, the free updates post-release will serve as the vehicles to tell the story. Other members of the team chime in with aspects of the game (such as the importance of teamwork), as well as a sprinkling of concept art.

GTFO is slated for release this Spring on Steam.

While we still don’t have a concrete release date for GTFO, that’s not stopping 10 Chambers from launching a three-part documentary on the making of the team-based shooter title, beginning with a brief little introduction that was released earlier this week.

The video kicks off with 10 Chambers Collective dev Simon Viklund giving a brief overview of the game’s story, which involves you and your squad being trapped in an underground complex, and forced to carry out a series of objectives for someone known as The Warden. From there, the emphasis on teamwork and methodical strategy is emphasized, as you will end up in deep doo-doo if you go in guns blazing.

Those in need of a more modern Left 4 Dead take will definitely want to keep an eye out for this one.

GTFO is slated for a Spring 2019 release.

For those itching for more GTFO gameplay with a slice of tech demonstration, then this clip is for you. At the recent Unity Unite Developer Conference in Los Angeles, developer 10 Chambers Collective not only showed off gameplay footage of the team-based shooter, but also some of the technology behind it.

GTFO will feature Dynamic Cinematic CineCast, which is a camera system unveiled by Unity Technologies that allows players to create movie-like sequences from various gameplay events in real time. It powers in-game replays, enables footage for trailers, and it will potentially make eSports more watchable and exciting.

But enough of the techie stuff. You want the gameplay. Well, fast forward to 11:30 in the video, and you’ll get your fix and then some. The video keeps up with the high-tension atmosphere that previous GTFO trailers have established, and looks amazing.

That 2018 release date it still up there, so perhaps we’ll be getting a beta before the full game is released.

Who doesn’t want more GTFO gameplay footage? The game looks amazing, and with it being out later this year on Steam, it only makes my wishlist that much more difficult to prioritize. The nine minutes that we get here definitely give off an Aliens vibe, which is more than what could be said about what we got in Colonial Marines.

The key with GTFO is teamwork, and knowing when to shoot. As you’ll see in the video, when one squad member messes up and gets spotted, the rest of the squad will have to deal with the mess of an onslaught, and quickly. All that’s really missing is the beep of a motion tracker, and someone spouting Bill Paxton’s lines. Of course, you could go in shooting everything in sight, but the question is: Would you survive?

GTFO devs 10 Chambers Collective has revealed a new enemy type in their latest gameplay trailer that should up the already high tension presented in the game. The Shadow enemy can only be seen when illuminated by light sources such as a flashlight. In fact, this makes it almost impossible to see from static screenshots. The skittering around is definitely not something you expect (or want) when you’re trying to barricade yourself against other monsters.

Also of note is that GTFO will be available and playable at Gamescom in Germany next month, where they’ll be showing off the game at the Unity booth. The game is still slated for release later this year, but there’s no definite release date yet.

We’ve been waiting on more than just screenshots for 10 Chambers Collective’s team-based horror shooter GTFO, and E3 has delivered.

For those that need a refresher (and in all honesty, we all do, since the game was announced last year), GTFO has you teaming up with up to three other players exploring dimly lit underground facilities, completing objectives while gunning down enemies that pop up randomly each time you play. In fact, the game takes unpredictability to new levels each time you play, not just with enemy placements, but also where ammo caches are placed, and even which doors you can/can’t use.

Unlike other team-based games, you don’t have any classes in GTFO. Instead, before a mission, you’ll pick a loadout consisting of primary, secondary, and melee weapons, with one special item. The special item can be something like a mapping device, sentry gun, or trip mines.

And whereas other games will have you finding keys to open doors, GFTO ups the tension by having you actually type in the command in a console to unlock the door. Now picture doing that while you and your friends are having to fend off a swarm of monsters.

This sounds like Left 4 Dead turned up to eleven, which is definitely not a bad thing. The team is targeting a 2018 release. Here’s hoping for more info (and video) as the game progresses.

So, the 2017 edition of The Game Awards was last night, and amongst the announcement of a World War Z game and the revealing trailer for Hideo Kojima’s Death Standing, there was an award show. Resident Evil VII won “Best VR Game”, but what about the rest of the genre fare?

In terms of horror, the night belonged to Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, which snagged three of the five awards for which it was nominated: “Best Audio Design”, “Best Performance” and “Games for Impact”. It lost out “Best Narrative” to another genre cohort in Giant Sparrow’s What Remains of Edith Finch, and “Best Independent Game” to StudioMDHR’s Cuphead. Meanwhile, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus grabbed “Best Action Game”, and for the fan’s choice awards, the trailer for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II grabbed the “Most Anticipated Game”.

As for reveals, The Astronauts showed off their follow-up to The Vanishing of Ethan Carter with their fantasy FPS, Witchfire, and 10 Chambers Collective gave us more than a plain teaser for GTFO. Then there was that trailer from FromSoftware that may or may not be for Bloodborne 2, but it sure looked cool. Sadly, we didn’t get anything from Capcom regarding those rumours about Devil May Cry 5, but who knows what we’ll be getting at the PlayStation Experience, or if they’re pushing it to E3 2018.

Ulf Andersson struck gold when he came up with the Payday series, which I’ve enjoyed immensely (when my teammates cooperate and do their job). Now Andersson and his crew at 10 Chambers Collective have announced another team-based shooter with a horror twist.

GTFO (yes, that’s its name) is described as a “hardcore co-op action horror FPS”, where teams of 2-4 players must work together to survive. According to 10 Chambers Collective member Simon Viklund, “Every expedition in GTFO is unique and the game lets you make informed decisions on what equipment and weapons to bring &emdash; but even then, survival is not guaranteed.”

Obviously, that’s not entirely specific on details. Neither is Ulf Andersson’s description of the game. Andersson describes GTFO as “[going] out to the tight knit, die hard co-op teams of 2-4 people. Technically you can play alone, but really &emdash; the world of GTFO is no place for lone wolves and stragglers. They’ll die, lost in the game’s endless maze.”

If that wasn’t vague enough for you, the game’s teaser trailer hints at that maze taking place under ground, which is both exciting and scary if you’re claustrophobic (and even if you’re not). Hopefully we learn more about this one soon.
