Launched alongside Update 2.7, Crytek has unveiled a new in-game event for Hunt: Showdown 1896 in “Devil’s Trail”. The event introduces game-changing scouting and tracking mechanics, a new big Battle Pass with plentiful rewards, a fire-spitting new monster, and “comprehensive improvements” for new players.

Devil’s Trail offers a unique tactical twist for players: making information the most valuable currency. Supply Points, Extraction Points, and new Event-exclusive Burned Convoy locations are now hidden from the start of your mission. As a result, players must actively uncover them using Scout Towers scattered across the map, which contain interactive Scouting Maps that reveal hidden locations, new Tarot Cards, custom ammunition, and Traits.

The new event makes it even more responsive to player presence, creating more environmental storytelling. Everything you do leaves traces, and everything you see tells a story. Examples include doors that never fully close once opened, ammo crates and First Aid kits remain visibly used, used Traits leave scorch marks and more.

As for the new Tarot Cards, they take tracking to another level:

  • The High Priestess reveals the direction of the nearest enemy Hunter, confirming whether you’re truly alone
  • The Pathfinder shows all Clues discovered by any Hunter on the map, helping you understand where the action is

And the new “All Ears” Trait transforms Dark Sight into a directional listening device, reducing ambient noise and amplifying enemy sounds in your view direction, which will come in handy during difficult weather conditions.

Players will also have a new monster on their hands with the Firebreather. Found among groups of Grunts, this Corrupted pyromaniac spews fire, while engaging it in melee results in small bursts of fire erupting from its body with each strike. Water Bottles and Choke clouds kill it instantly, and water temporarily disables its fire breath. Just don’t go throwing explosives around it.

The update also aims to ease new players into Hunt: Showdown 1896 with a whole host of improvements. For example, monsters and Boss Targets are introduced gradually until Bloodline Rank 10, with Boss Target health reduced for newer players. Hunter Bot difficulty also scales with player level. A new cross-platform invite system debuts with this update, allowing players across Steam and the Microsoft Store to team up, while PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series players can now team up together on the console side.

Cryek also teased future updates for Hunt: Showdown 1896, kicking off in mid-April with the return of the “Inferno” Time of Day with increased Hellborn activity, a new Firefighter Supply, and a DLC release.

Devil’s Trail is live now for Hunt: Showdown 1896 on Steam, the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 until June 10.

Since it was to nice the first time around, Crytek have brought back Post Malone to Hunt: Showdown 1896 with the Post Malone’s Murder Circus Encore. The massive in-game event is on now, plunging the bayou back into a reign of carnivalesque terror. The event coincides with the recent Update 2.6, delivering a wealth of new content, long-requested features, and extensive game improvements.

Running until February 9th, 2026, the event sees former Ringmaster, portrayed by Post Malone, being reborn as the brutal Disciple of Death, seeking to reclaim his Corrupted domain. With the key to his victory—the fabled HelioStone artifact—still lost, Hunters are drawn into a fresh conflict where old foes and new alliances collide.

The event introduces a new gameplay system, Story Challenges, providing narrative-driven gameplay. These thematic chapters allow players to explore the game’s rich lore and Hunter backstories while earning rewards. The feature is launching with two stories: the time-limited On the Winds of Midwinter, about Krampus, and the permanent free story An Acquired Taste, which follows a Hunter named Tennessee Morgan. This feature adds a new dimension to progression with an ever-expanding library of Story Challenges.

Players can also now showcase their accomplishments with the new Player Profile Customization. This system allows hunters to display a unique identity through avatars, titles, cosmetic frames, achievement badges, and stat trackers, visible in lobbies, on last match and the death screens. Every foe and friend now has a distinct identity, and your achievements are clearly displayed to rival hunters.

There’s still more in store with Update 2.6, which also introduces the Status Effect “Wet,” adding a new layer of strategic depth. Hunters traversing deep water become soaked, making them harder to ignite and improving their health recovery at the cost of louder footsteps. The new Water Bottle throwable item allows players to strategically apply this effect, extinguish fires, and even neutralize the fiery Immolator enemies.

Also returning is the two-headed Ursa Mortis monster, but this time with some new additions. With reinforced vitality, increased damage, and devastating new tricks, it now stalks its prey with terrifying cunning. It can plow through barriers, is immune to explosive stagger, and its chilling roar can prematurely trigger traps.

With the Circus’s return, players can pledge allegiance to multiple Troupes simultaneously to unlock unique Event Traits using Pledge Marks. These include:

  • The Knifethrower Troupe – Blademancer: Automatically retrieves ammo in front of you while in Dark Sight.
  • The Mystic Troupe – Communion: Sacrifice your own health to heal a teammate and cure their Status Effects.
  • The Trickshooter Troupe – Crack Shot: Reduces weapon sway and increases iron-sight zoom for rifles and pistols with stocks.
  • The Strongman Troupe – Bruiser: Lowers melee stamina cost and significantly reduces flinching from damage.
  • The Ringmaster Troupe – Corpse Seer: Grants Dark Sight Boost when looting dead Hunters.

Over on the improvement side, a major overhaul of the user interface and communication tools aims to improve coordination and clarity. The Map screen now features a transparent background and a reorganized Trait display. The ping system and compass have been redesigned, allowing players to place multiple context-sensitive Ping Markers on in-world objects like Ammo Boxes and Traps, all visible on a new, intuitive compass for superior tactical planning.

Lastly, the update adds some balancing changes, as well as the usual fixes and polish.

You can get in on the fun with Hunt: Showdown 1896 on PC via Steam, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.

Crytek has kicked off summer for Hunt: Showdown 1896 with a brand new in-game event in Judgement of the Fool. The event coincides with Update 2.4 and the return of the DeSalle map, which has been rebuilt “in stunning detail” to bring new tactical depths. The update also brings a several fixes, tweaks, and improvements.

Judgement of the Fool is a tragic tale of vengeance. The Fool, originally known as Doc Redmartin, once peddled a toxic miracle cure before he was disfigured by his victims. Now, he’s on the run from The Pale Judge, a fallen lawman delivering justice on behalf of fate itself with the draw of a tarot card. The Fool is aided by Dorothy Alice, the last survivor of the once respectable Alice Family, who shelters him at her ruined homestead in Stillwater Bayou. And in the shadows hides The Prescient, an occult detective who has returned to seek the truth behind the omen of Orwellian Effigies re-appearances across the bayou and the gulch.

Along with bringing its share of gritty characters into a fight, the Event features a 38-tier Battle Pass filled with occult-themed rewards, including Hunters, Equipment Skins, Charms, Equipment Animations:

  • The Fool: A disfigured and deranged snake-oil salesman on the run, his face was mangled by the victims of his poisonous Miracle Mouth All-Cure. The Pale Judge once offered him redemption, but that chance is no more. This Hunter comes in two variants: Outlaw and Fugitive.
  • The Pale Judge: Once a judge in Mammon’s Gulch but now a fallen lawman, he traded his gavel for a gun and a deck of tarot cards. He dishes out sentences on behalf of fate itself. He’s here to deal the final verdict to The Fool.

Players will be able to separately purchase Dorothy Alice skins in two variations of Dream and Nightmare:

  • Dorothy Alice: The last survivor of the Alice family from the once idyllic Stillwater Bayou, found alone by The Fool. She hides him from The Pale Judge in the ruined homestead of the Alice Farm.

Equipment Skins and Animations:

  • Blind Justice (Terminus): A shotgun etched with scales of justice and bone inlays.
  • Death Sentence (Throwing Spear): A spear wrapped in executioner’s rope, paired with the Oath to Impale inspect animation.
  • Crypt Seal: Sniper (Sparks): A rifle carved with grave markers and hexes.

Judgement of the Fool also introduces a new location that appears on all 4 maps in The Fool’s Hideout. Charred cattle, barricaded wagons, and journal scraps tell the story of doomed survivors huddled in The Fool’s Hideout. While it’s a dangerous place, it also comes with high rewards. If players can avoid meeting their demise, they will find exclusive Sealed Rewards such as:

  • A Single Sealed Bounty Token
  • Full Restoration Kit
  • Trait Wager Spur (randomized Traits in exchange for Pledge Marks)
  • Master Clue (reveals all Boss Targets)
  • Event-exclusive Sealed Scarce Traits

Of course, you’ll also face new threats during the Event in The Brute, which stalks the forests of the bayou. Brutes share the Murder Circus‘ Ursa Mortis’ strengths and weaknesses but stick to forested areas, stalking Hunters that are careless.

You can read up on the rest of the details on the Event here, including the fixes and improvements.

Judgement of the Fool is on now until September 17. Hunt: Showdown 1896 is available on PC via Steam, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.

For a game that’s over five years old, Hunt: Showdown has been going through a lot of changes this year. In August, there was a massive engine update that came with an additional roaming boss, a UI overhaul, and the first new map in three years. Despite some UI quirks, which have been a bit smoothed out since then, it was a great update that made an excellent game even better.

This past October, we saw the first crossover in Hunt: Showdown history with the release of a character based on Scream’s iconic Ghostface. This one felt a little weird because, while they made some stylistic changes, it didn’t really fit the setting of Hunt for me.

Last week, they launched their second crossover, an event crossover with musician Post Malone, an idea that made me even more skeptical than the Ghostface skin. But the more they revealed about the event, titled Post Malone’s Murder Circus, the cooler it seemed, and after some hands-on time with it I’m glad to say I’m having a blast.

I should get this out of the way first: I’m not super familiar with Post Malone. I’m only vaguely aware of some of his bigger hits, but after seeing him talk to the Hunt developers, it seems like he’s a pretty down to earth guy who really, really likes this game. The important thing that this event does is it’s not just the “Post Malone Event.” Instead, they came up with this fiction of the “Murder Circus,” and Malone just happens to play the central figure in it, who you can unlock as part of the battle pass. The old-timey carnival vibe fits perfectly into Hunt’s established aesthetic while still finding ways to stand out, which is a winning combination for any limited time event.

Every Bounty Hunt match, a circus-themed compound will appear somewhere on the map, full of wonderful little bonuses. Scattered about the area among various sideshow booths are the traits and equipment that you can purchase with Pledge Marks, which are earned throughout the match by killing various enemies, picking up clues, or blowing up the balloons that are all around during this event. If you want to press your luck, there’s even some fortune teller machines that will give you random traits or rare items.

In addition to some fun clown grunts, the area is guarded by a brand new enemy, a two-headed bear called Ursa Mortis. The massive beast can sense bleeding hunters and will charge at them with a deadly ferocity after deafening them with his powerful roar. This is extra dangerous as the area is full of thorny bushes that will cause bleeding if stepped on, so it’s a rough fight if you go in blind. The first time I went after him I had no idea about the thorns and was only able to kill it by the skin of my teeth. It’s great to see a brand new enemy in Hunt: Showdown, especially one that’s as visually and mechanically interesting as Ursa Mortis.

At the center of the compound is a big top tent that holds the biggest reward: The Shredder, an all-new experimental weapon that’s only available during this event. Only one of these spawns per match, and it costs five pledge marks, but it’s an extremely useful weapon that is well worth the effort. The Shredder is a fast-firing saw blade launcher that can either fire bouncing blades that ricochet off of surfaces or frag blades that explode on impact, flinging shrapnel in all directions. It’s probably a bit overpowered of a weapon compared to the rest of Hunt’s arsenal, I was able to kill a Meathead in less than ten seconds with three swifts saw blade shots, but the fact that you have to jump through so many hoops means you won’t be running into it constantly and getting completely destroyed in a way that feels unfair or unbalanced. I love having the feeling of a special weapon that everyone is chasing, so it’s exciting to see it added to Hunt’s repertoire of (mostly) grounded and realistic weapons.

In addition to the Shredder, there’s some new weapons and equipment that can be unlocked through the Murder Circus battle pass. The new Recovery Shot allows you to restore lost chunks of health, and there’s a new subsonic ammo type that is slower but quieter than standard rounds. The best new addition in my book is the Chu Ko Nu, which is a rapid fire repeating crossbow. While its effective range is a bit shorter than the standard crossbow, the fast rate of fire makes it a very effective silenced weapon in close quarters. You’ll also be able to unlock some new variations of older weapons, like the 1865 Carbine Aperture, the Krag Silencer, the Maynard Sniper Silencer, and the Silenced Sparks Pistol. Overall, it’s been one of my favorite sets of new weapons of any event in recent memory, and the Chu Ko Nu has become a regular inclusion in my loadout.

Events usually have pacts that you can pledge to that will give you access to a specific set of traits that can be purchased with Pledge Marks, but in the Murder Circus event these are appropriately called Troupes. I usually have a hard time keeping track of these during an event, but this time the traits are both interesting and thematic, making them a priority to track down each match. My favorite of the bunch is the Mystic Troupe, which grants you access to a trait called Poltergeist. This allows you to open doors and windows from a distance while in Dark Sight, giving you all sorts of opportunities for misdirection when you’re approaching an enemy hunter. Some of the other highlights are the ability to retrieve projectiles like arrows and throwing knives from a distance and an extra second of Dark Sight boost when looting a dead hunter. It’s a great set of traits, and I hope some of them stick around after the event, because I’m really starting to get attached to them.

Oftentimes events pass without me ever really taking notice of what’s unique about them. Usually I just pay attention to the battle pass and the weekly challenges, not really wrapping my head around the pacts or traits. But with Post Malone’s Murder Circus, I’m finding myself jumping in more than usual to experience all the exciting new additions. The circus compound is a delight, creating a fun, risky space that’s worth exploring, the new weapons and equipment are great, and the high stakes race to the Shredder is a fun innovation that I hope they find a way to keep around. I’m happy they took the time to create a brand new enemy with the Ursa Mortis, and I sincerely hope it sticks around after the event is over. It’s amazing how quickly my impressions turned from “this is a strange crossover” to “this is one of my favorite Hunt events ever,” but they’ve pulled it off.

If this is how they plan on doing crossover content in the future, I’m all for it.

The Post Malone’s Murder Circus event is on now in Hunt: Showdown 1896 until February 10, 2025. Hunt: Showdown 1896 is available on Steam, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.

Ghostface joining Crytek’s Hunt: Showdown 1896 last month was apparently just the start of big things for the PvPvE shooter. In what’s being touted as the shooter’s “biggest event to date,” 9x diamond-certified artist Post Malone will be the main attraction in a new event for Hunt: Showdown 1896 with Post Malone’s Murder Circus.

Post Malone’s Murder Circus invites players into a nightmarish world where a once-traveling carnival has been transformed by a mysterious artifact known as the HelioStone. Post Malone, who plays the role of the vengeance driven Deposed King, the former Ringmaster, brings his unique creative vision to the game’s gritty historical landscapes marred by Corruption.

Driven out by the HelioStone’s power, Post shadowed the Circus across the continent vowing to destroy HelioStone. Every time it manifests, he does his best to tear it down to the ground. Sometimes he recruits others – bounty hunters, desperadoes, and suchlike – to do it. Sometimes he takes on the task himself. But always the HelioStone eludes him, and so the chase continues.

The event also features a new monster in the form of orphaned bear cubs turned unnatural beast, Ursa Mortis. With deformed bodies and minds, twisted into savage hunger by the HelioStone, the monstrous bear that stalks the Circus grounds and will charge at Hunters and attack with a lethal roar.

The collaboration also introduces a series of themed hunter skins, weapon variants, enemies and more. Players are invited to experience a surreal carnival-inspired aesthetic that combines the game’s gritty historical setting and extraction shooter mechanics with the artist’s signature style.

No word yet on when Post Malone’s Murder Circus event will arrive for Hunt: Showdown 1896 players, but it will be “soon” on PC for Steam, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.

Not content with coming to Mortal Kombat 1 as a guest fighter, Ghostface had decided to join Crytek’s Hunt: Showdown 1896 this Halloween as a new Hunter, complete with his own weapons. In a collaboration with Fun World, the iconic Scream killer will arrive in the Ghost Face Rampage DLC on October 24 for Steam, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.

Ghostface will come with two weapons – the Hush (Frontier 73C Silencer) and Whisper (a Bornheim No. 3 Silencer) and a tool – Life Taker (a knife). As the names imply, the included weapons are silent, offering players an edge in fast-paced close quarters combat.

Ghostface has been given a bit of a facelift (no pun intended) to fit into the world of the 19th century of Hunt. “The character design was interesting to work on as it had to fit into the gritty, dark corners of the 1890s setting that Hunt is famous for,” explains Stefan Heinrich, Lead Art Director for Hunt: Showdown 1896. “For example, the iconic mask is now a hand-carved wooded mask, weathered and cracked, a tattered battle worn duster replaces the robe and to complete the look, leather holsters and gear have been added, giving him the tools of a 19th Century Hunter while maintaining his iconic style. We hope Ghostface & Hunt fans enjoy the new DLC as much as we enjoyed designing it.”

This is the first horror collaboration for Hunt: Showdown 1896, and is the perfect accompaniment as the game continues to celebrate the spooky season with its in-game event Harvest of Ghosts, which is live until November 25.

Crytek is getting into the Halloween spirit for Hunt: Showdown 1896, announcing a new Harvest of Ghosts in-game event, along with a new game mode, Bounty Clash. Both are out now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. While Harvest of Ghosts runs from October 16 until November 25, the Bounty Clash game mode is available from now until October 20, after which it will run every weekend until the conclusion of the Harvest of Ghosts event.

A new experimental game mode, Bounty Clash pits players in a random compound with a dead Boss Target awaiting a banishment, which will yield a single Bounty Token for teams to fight over. In a quick and ruthless fight, teams will be pitted against each other, rushing the Bounty Token to extract it within the 15-minute time limit. Raising the stakes even further, Bounty Clash takes place within modified versions of the Mammon’s Gulch and the recently-revamped Stillwater Bayou compounds.

Meanwhile, Harvest of Ghosts brings many exciting changes to players during the Halloween season. Pact Traits like Blast Sight (which shows the origin of gunshots and explosions in Dark Sight) and Pain Sense (which shows enemies who have been shot, lit on fire, or poisoned in Dark Sight) change the way players will approach their fights. In addition to three Pacts and new weapons such as the Bomb Launcher and Maynard Sniper, as well as new variants like the Auto-4 Shorty, Centennial Pointman, and Rival 78 Mace, the event also brings the Dark Dynamite Satchel, which can be detonated remotely through Dark Sight, as well as a Hand Crossbow Revive Bolt among many other changes, fixes, and tweaks.

If that’s not enough, there will be something extra spooky is making its way into the Hunt universe, which will be revealed closer to Halloween.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 is available for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series.

Last week, Hunt: Showdown, the horror-tinged extraction shooter, received its largest update since it was released from Early Access about five years ago. This new version, now titled Hunt: Showdown 1896, includes an engine upgrade, revamped UI, additional roaming target, and a whole new map, the first in three years. Hunt is one of the few multiplayer games that keeps me coming back for more, so needless to say I was excited to see what this update would bring to the table.

For those that don’t know, Hunt: Showdown is a PvPvE shooter set in the late 1800s where you are competing with other hunters to track down horrible beasts and safely extract with the bounty. Given the time period of the game, the pace is a lot more deliberate, with slower firing weapons that require bullet by bullet reloading. In addition to making every shot count, you also have to be careful with how much noise you’re making, as stealth is key to getting the advantage on other hunters that you’re up against. It’s tense, punishing, but easily the most rewarding competitive multiplayer game I’ve come across.

So how is the new update? You can’t really talk about it without talking first about the elephant in the room: the audience reaction. Currently, the game is sitting at “Mostly Negative” in the recent reviews section on Steam, with over ten thousand being considered ‘recent.’ If you look at all reviews, it’s still at “Mostly Positive,” so you can see how much of a sharp change has been just from this review. While many of the reviews are citing bugs and performance issues, the majority of the issues stem from the new UI, which has been completely redesigned from the bottom up. It’s not chasing people away, Hunt was setting concurrent player records for the game and seems to be steadily climbing in player count, but the reaction has been swift and extreme. The devs have already put out a video responding to the UI controversy, promising some changes and showing some quick mockups of things they’ve already been working on to help remedy the situation.

Before I launched the game, it was hard to tell if this reaction was warranted or if it was just people complaining about changes that they will probably just get used to in the near future, but I did find some pain points with the new layout. On the bright side, it does look clean and modern, but every action seems to require way more clicks than it used to. Even launching a new match felt like it required more work than it should. Picking your loadout was one of the main problems for me, as there was no way to look at what you have equipped while picking your weapons from the inventory screen. It might not sound like a huge deal, but it’s one of many small things about the UI that add up.

A lot of other menu pages seemed really weirdly balanced with negative space, forcing some of the icons to be too small and hard to parse. The perk page in particular did this to me, and they seemed to be listed in a different order by default, causing me to take way longer to make sense of the page and slow down my hunter upgrading process. I could be wrong about this, but it appears they’ve also removed the monster encyclopedia, which contained all the lore for the game’s many creatures. As a video game lorehound, I always appreciated this feature and definitely will mss it, especially with the introduction of a new roaming boss.

This new boss is called the Hellborn, a massive fire-ball throwing humanoid creature. After last year’s Rotjaw, the Hellborn is the second roaming target, a boss monster that does not have a specific lair and instead can be found in open areas of the map. Instead of finding clues to track it down like a traditional boss, you listen for its screams while you’re using Dark Vision to narrow down its location. This means it can be a bit harder for you to locate it, but when you do it’s a pretty fun fight. Since the Hellborn’s main attack is throwing massive fireballs, it’s a boss you’ll really want to take out a distance, which feels cool to do in an open area rather than a lair fight. It is a very loud creature, meaning the risk of having other hunters run up on you while you’re fighting is something you’ll need to take into consideration, adding another layer of decision making to the encounter. Overall, I have more fun with this guy than I did with Rotjaw, which always felt more time consuming if you didn’t get the drop on it correctly.

The big centerpiece of this update for me, and probably most players, is Mammon’s Gulch, an all new map, bringing the total map count up to four. It walks the line between feeling like a genuinely new place and still fitting within the existing style of Hunt: Showdown. It’s the first map that takes place outside of the Louisiana setting, bringing you to a mountainous location in Colorado. It’s wonderful to have new locations to learn, offering surprises both in the visual and level design elements. There was a really wonderful burned down town that took my breath away the first time I saw it, and scattered oil derricks add a great visual variety. While other maps had some tunnel sections added to them, the mines in Mammon’s Gulch are extensive and fun to traverse, feeling both claustrophobic and just big enough to have a satisfying firefight in. One of the great joys of the game is learning the ins and outs of the locations to figure out how to use their layouts to your advantage, so having a whole new map is extremely exciting.

Aside from the obviously new visual assets that were made to build out Mammon’s Gulch, it’s clear that the visuals have been upgraded in the new engine. The lighting and water effects in particular look better to me, making an already pretty game even more beautiful. I have noticed some performance issues in my matches, and many recent Steam reviews seem to be seeing these as well, but I’m guessing this has more to do with the server issues cropping up due to the high volume of players. There were definitely lag spikes that I was experiencing from time to time that hurt my play experience, and I kept getting disconnected when I was trying to play duos with my buddy, which was frustrating to say the least.

To draw people in and reward players, there’s a new event going on called Scorched Earth. This features some new player perks, along with a battle pass that has new weapons and skins for players to earn. Even without buying the premium battle pass, there’s some nice things to earn, and the new perks are a fun way to add wrinkles to the familiar gameplay.

While there are some issues with the new UI, I think the negative reaction has been a bit overblown. Aside from the connection issues which will hopefully be ironed out soon, the Hunt: Showdown 1896 update feels great to me, and I can’t wait to continue to explore and learn everything that Mammon’s Gulch has to offer. It provides a change of scenery that reinvigorates the game without feeling out of place in the game’s world, featuring great level design and art direction. It’s an exciting new era for Hunt, and I’m sure that Crytek can smooth out the annoyances of the UI now that it’s out in the wild and they can see players interacting with it. I’m really hoping that the review bombing doesn’t dissuade new players from checking it out, because it feels like all the new additions make an excellent game even better.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 is now available for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series. Previous owners of Hunt: Showdown on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will automatically receive an upgrade to the new version at no additional cost on their current-gen counterpart, including all past purchases and progress.

With Hunt: Showdown getting set for its upgrade later this week to Hunt: Showdown 1896, Crytek has announced a new in-game Event, alongside a new Wild Target to coincide with the move. The new Event will give players an opportunity to prowl the tortured peaks of the brand-new Colorado map, Mammon’s Gulch, as well as getting a chance to check out the new equipment, ammo, and weapons available in the game.

Starting off in the new Colorado biome, the in-game Event Scorched Earth brings three Pacts for Hunters to pledge to as they step off the train from Louisiana into the shadow of the mighty Rocky Mountains. Scorched Earth brings with it new equipment, ammo, and weapons, including the 1865 Carbine, the Infantry 73L base rifle with a sniper variant, Bear Traps as a new Tool, and a Crossbow Deadeye  scoped variant.

A completely new Weekly Challenge system better supports players joining the action mid-Event, and a Battle Pass full of both free and premium rewards are available to unlock.

Meanwhile, the Hellborn is the new Wild Target. An amalgam of fire and flesh and a source of immense heat, the Hellborn can be tracked audibly by listening in Dark Sight. The Hellborn can be found at multiple locations in Mammon’s Gulch, stalking the land until provoked into explosive response.

Posing an entirely new threat, the Hellborn moves frantically to slag trespassing Hunters , scorching everything in its considerable reach. And seeing that this is still Hunt: Showdown, it’s best that you take the Hellborn out quickly, as its raging howls attract the attention of other Hunters across the Gulch, multiplying the threat minute by minute.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 arrives August 15th for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series. Previous owners of Hunt: Showdown on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will automatically receive an upgrade to the new version at no additional cost on their current-gen counterpart, including all past purchases and progress.
