It’s the holiday season, and what better way to celebrate than to dress up as Santa and execute your contracts in Hitman 2? That’s exactly what the December roadmap will allow you to do, with things kicking off this Thursday.

The roadmap starts out with two new escalations on December 5, with a legacy elusive target coming on the sixth. On December 12, IO will kick off “12 Days of Contracts”. This is the culmination of a community initiative that took place on the Hitman forums. The community has curated 12 different holiday-themed contracts, which will be revealed each day during the event. There aren’t many details in these new contracts yet, but IO has promised more news would be coming soon.

In addition to the community event, Hitman 2 is getting two legacy missions. The first is Holiday Hoarders where you can unlock the Santa suit. The second is the Snow Festival in Hokkaido. Both will become permanent additions to the game, so you can jump in and murder on a whim. December finishes off with a few more escalations and a new elusive target.

Hitman 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Fans of IO Interactive’s efforts with Hitman 2 will be rewarded again in the future, as alluded to in the game’s November roadmap, the next installment is under way.

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. The November roadmap for Hitman 2 unfortunately states that while we won’t be getting new missions this month, there’s still a wealth of Featured Contracts coming, as well as the addition of Community-curated Contracts. There will also be some Seasonal Content added added to the game permanently, though the announcement doesn’t specify what that would be. There’s also a new Escalation and Elusive Contract coming in December.

But the big news, obviously, is that along with the roadmap, IO Interactive states that the company is “looking increasingly to the future”. They outright say what that means: “In real terms, we’re moving more and more of the Hitman 2 team to join the next Hitman game, which is well underway.”

As for what 2020 will bring the game, IOI states that they will “focus on continuing to add Featured Contracts as well as introduce Community-curated Contracts into the game,” as well as planning to re-activate past Elusive Targets to give players a chance to snag any loot they missed the first time. Which also means you get to kill Sean Bean all over again.

Hitman 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The final expansion for IO Interactive’s Hitman 2 is out now, but that’s not stopping the devs from releasing more content. In fact, according to the October roadmap, we’re in for more treats than tricks.

The first event for October begins today in Miami, with the Riviera Restoration Escalation Contract. Following that is a three-part Escalation in Mumbai on October 10. That mission will get you the Imperial Classic with Gloves outfit, which was previously only unlockable through an Elusive Target. Then, on October 11, the Warlord will be returning in the month’s only Legacy Elusive Target.

Things really get into Halloween mode on October 17, when IO will show off the community-created contracts, all with a trick or treat theme. Submissions for the contracts ends on October 14. This all leads up to the Halloween Escalation Contract, which hits on October 22.

As for this Contract’s contents, it’s still a mystery, but players are promised two rewards. On the same day, Legacy Challenge Packs will be added into Hitman 2, allowing owners of the Legacy Pack a trio of challenges to complete, each of them unlocking an outfit and weapon. Complete them all, and Agent 47 will have everything he needs if someone finally invites him to a Halloween party.

October 25 brings us a serial killer in Whittleton Creek as the Elusive Target, followed by the chance to becoming a slasher movie villain in the Hawke’s Bay challenge pack on October 31. Hokkaido and Sapienza Legacy Escalations will be appearing on the same day, if you’d like to revisit two of the previous game’s best missions.

Hitman 2 is currently out for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The DLC will release on the 24th, and will feature one full-fledged campaign mission called The Last Resort, Contracts mode support, over 75 new challenges, tons of unlockable starting locations and items, and seven new trophies/achievements.

Story-wise, The Last Resort takes place after the previous bank mission, and features your typical assassination mission. Agent 47 will need to pose as a guest in order to eliminate three targets, then escape. You’ll also be free to tackle three optional mission story challenges. Completing them along with all 75+ side challenges unlocks a new weapon.

With summer nearly over, IO Interactive have released the September roadmap for Hitman 2, which sees Agent 47 jetting off to The Maldives in sun-soaked Haven Island. And with it, a bunch of new missions, new targets and unlocks.

Two missions have already been released so far. The Dalton Dissection contract will have Agent 47 return the New York bank to take out some new targets wearing the bank robber disguise with bonus bunny mask. The second contract, The Covert Dispersal, has Agent 47 crash a garden party by eliminating the undercover officers.

Next on the horizon is the Dubious Cohabitation contract, which is available September 12. In this mission, Agent 47 is on the lookout for an old assassin friend, with a lavish cashmerian suit as your reward for a successful mission. The first Legacy Elusive Target hits September 13th with The Blackmailer. The target will be walking the catwalks of Paris, and Agent 47 will need to take him out and retrieve a secret memory stick.

On September 19, another escalation contract will be released, The Merele Revelation, which has Agent 47 infiltrate a cult disguised as a Shaman. Upon completing this contract, you’ll unlock the Emetic Grenade that makes those caught in its range vomit. September 24 is when Haven Island will be available for expansion pass owners. Alongside the sunny resort are two expansion pass exclusive Special Assignments in the Bitter Pill and A Silver Tongue.

Rounding out the month is another Legacy Elusive target on September 27 with The Angel of Death. Within a 10-day timespan, Agent 47 must travel to Marrakesh to take out an old retired nurse.

Hitman 2 is currently out for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The very subject matter of Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is enough to cement itself as a sordid, macabre escapade, with two hard-to-like dudes with a raging woody for cash and corpses face-shooting their way through modern-day Shanghai. Though it’s in the stylistically unique fashion in which the whole thing is presented, that Io Interactive’s last-gen IP has managed to endure quasi-fondly in the memory as long as it has.

A seemingly vanilla and no-frills third-person shooter, the whole experience is made dramatically more interesting by its audiovisual presentation, as the shaky cam, VHS imbued art style seeks to create a window into a grimy world, where the dirty neon of downtown Shanghai bleeds greedily across the screen alongside clumps of detail enmeshed in congealed puddles of textured filth.

If the world finds itself stained by this befouled aesthetic, so too do a number of other visual flourishes contribute considerably to the overall video nasty veneer too. Killed enemies, for example, find their faces masked by an inelegant mess of video macro blocking – an act that feels at times, directed as much towards the preservation of sensitivity in the face of extreme violence as much as it robs the identity of those who have fallen.

Given the relatively humble hardware of the time, the way that the blurriness and assortment of visual artifacts all conspire to hide the technical problems that the game might have had, too. Frame rate drops, low-resolution visuals and screen tearing are all rampant and yet, they are easily passed off as being part and parcel with the game’s deliberately low rent VHS style presentation.

Such deliberate visual styling choices also expose an intriguing truth – there’s no cause for a remaster of Kane & Lynch 2, since upping the resolution and adding in additional detail would be at odds with the deliberately lo-fi aesthetic.

Likewise, beyond the fanfare of its raucous shootouts, audio is leveraged with equal, humanity depriving brutality. Early on, after a protracted and frenzied bloody chase through the streets of Shanghai, a cornered thug slits his own throat just as the audio cuts out for a few seconds, denying the audience his final blood-curdling screams and the slump of his lifeless form onto the dirty floor.

In keeping with this found footage approach, Kane & Lynch 2 also makes the player question who is actually holding the camera while the titular protagonists are off honoring the rigors of their murderous nature. Is it some poor sap that our duo has scooped off the street? Some nefarious and unnamed third party? Regardless of who it is, the feeling is palpable. Most notably the sensation of the perspective going into a full-shaky cam mode, and having the wind whoosh past your face as you scramble and sprint your way down a murky corridor proving to be an intoxicating event.

In essence, Kane & Lynch 2 ends up feeling, looking and sounding akin to a Michael Mann flick, by way of a found footage auteur like Adam Wingard. The clinical, street-level violence of the former having its brutality exacerbated by the style of the latter.

The Surprising Use of Violence in Manhunt

It’s surprising, really, that this almost esoteric brand of audiovisual presentation hasn’t been more openly embraced by other games. Sure, you could say that Dennaton’s Hotline Miami games mimic this to an extent, but the effect is very different when comparing a top-down blaster, to the much more intimate over the shoulder experience that Kane and Lynch 2 offers.

Brought into sharp relief with the comparatively more conservative stylings of Io’s much more recent and widely accepted Hitman series, it’s easy to see why Io Interactive seemingly and dutifully continues down the path forged by Agent 47, apparently content to leave the tawdry spectacle of the Kane & Lynch franchise behind.

With relatively little new to offer in gameplay terms, and by proxy a wide commercial audience, Kane and Lynch 2 instead doubles down on the nastiness and invites its audience to their own private cesspool, one where the imprecise haze of its presentation serves to enhance the brutality and ultraviolence that lay beneath.

Ultimately, chances are that the famed Danish studio won’t ever return to the series and in a way that would be fitting; effectively relegating Kane and Lynch 2 to a dusty, solitary existence on digital and second-hand physical store shelves, to be ignored and forgotten by all but the most determined grime seekers.

Today’s a double dose of Hitman news, as not only has IO Interactive released the trailer for the next Hitman 2 map, but thanks to NoClip, it’s been revealed that Hitman 3 is in development!

First up is the new Siberia map for Hitman 2. Releasing on July 30th, the map transports players to the Perm-14 prison facility located near the frigid Siberian tundra. Players can either go at it alone as Agent 47, or team up as operatives, Stone or Knight, via the franchise’s first online cooperative mode.

In this latest map for Sniper Assassin mode, players must eliminate two targets and incite a prison riot to cover their tracks. Completing challenges within the mission will also progress mastery with the ICA Druzhina 34 Arctic sniper rifle, Agent 47’s weapon of choice for this assignment. Reaching the highest mastery level with this rifle will permanently unlock it for use within all sandbox locations in the game.

And as for Hitman 3, NoClip has once again released an awesome doc, this time chronicling the fall and the rise of the Hitman franchise. At around the 34 minute mark, CEO and co-owner Hakan Abrak confirms the development of the third game. Hitman 3 could also go back to episodic releases as the first game did back in 2016.

Other than that, no other info has been released for the game.

Hitman 2 is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Yes, the Hitman 2 Starter Pack has been available for a while now, but if you still haven’t checked the game out, IO Interactive have tweaked things to sweeten the pot.

The devs have made available (for a low price point) the Miami Pack, which coincides with a “Spring Break” event this month (as was detailed in the Expansion Pass Roadmap. The Spring Break event contains a new challenge pack, a blue flamingo mascot outfit and more to be revealed in a later update.

Meanwhile, the Miami Pack contains the Miami missions, the Starter Pack content, the multiplayer Ghost mode and Sniper Assasin modes, and a number of contracts for players to try. That also includes the Sean Bean Elusive Target.

Initially titled “The Undying,” now retitled “The Undying Returns,” this mission gave players one shot at killing Mark Faba (portrayed by Sean Bean), an actor notorious for dying a number of times in movies and television shows. This Elusive Target will be available from May 3 to June 3, and any Hitman 2 player with access to the Miami content can play this mission, even those who played the first iteration of it. Completing it successfully will earn players the Flash Grenade Robot.

The Miami Pack is out right now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam for $15 USD.

IO Interactive promised it would be adding plenty of new stuff to Hitman 2 post-launch, and while it indeed has thrown a steady smattering of content this year already, there are even better things on the horizon.

The Danish developer has revealed its 2019 roadmap for Hitman 2‘s expansion pass content, detailing all the delightful new ways you’ll be able to murder seedy scumbags and dangerous criminals for the remainder of the year.

These include four new location maps, two for the Sniper Challenge mode, and two for the regular game. These are the most intriguing additions with a one set in and around a bank, and the other set at a sunny holiday resort. Death in Paradise indeed.

There’s also set to be new assignments, Ghost Mode levels, and themed content, including something for Halloween.

As you may have noticed, this content is tiered for Gold and Silver editions of the game, so unless you have the Gold edition already, you’ll have to fork out extra for some of this. Given how good the game has been so far, it’s likely to be worth the money.

Hitman 2 is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

As an added bonus, for those who still don’t own the game, this elusive target is also part of the recently-released Free Starter Pack for Hitman 2, meaning you can try this elusive target out for free!

This new elusive target is also part of Hitman 2‘s March update schedule, which also includes “The Butler Did It”, a challenge pack that unlocks a feather duster, some featured contracts sourced from the community, a Sniper Assassin map for owners of Expansion 1 and the Expansion Pass, and Escalation Contract in Colombia, and finally a Legacy Exclusive Target. The Butler Did It will be available on March 29, which will also feature the return of the Black Hat from the previous Hitman game. Eliminating him will unlock a tuxedo with gloves.

You can check out IO’s roadmap for March on their website.

As IO Interactive have done with Hitman, they’ve announced a Starter Pack for the game, which includes the first mission from the full game, as well as five Location Mastery levels and over 40 Challenges.

The Starter Pack is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, so you have no excuse. If you choose to download it and give the game a spin, all progress will be carried over to the full game should you decide to purchase that, too.

IO Interactive have announced the third elusive target mission in Hitman 2, which is available now until February 3. The elusive target this time around is Miranda Jamison, aka “The Appraiser”, a famous art appraiser and a significant member in a price-fixing model that takes place in the art world. The story goes that Jamison had recently hired a group of thieves to steal a painting from a client. However, the owner has asked The Agency (and Agent 47) to get involved and handle the situation.

As with previous elusive targets, you’ll have a limited opportunity to eliminate them. But if you do, you’ll be rewarded with new gear. In this case, you will unlock the tuxedo and mask with gloves suit.

Hitman 2, which Neil called “the best Hitman package ever put together”, is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Yep, Hitman HD Enhanced Collection will contain remastered versions of Blood Money and Absolution, along with updated controls and 4K support. Okay, so you don’t get to kill Sean Bean again, but one can hope for next time.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and IO Interactive have announced the second Elusive Target for their shooter Hitman 2 (which we reviewed here). The second Elusive Target grants you a new mission, “The Revolutionary,” which has you trying to kill off a political figure and rebel leader named Vicente Murillo.

Players will be able to play through the mission from now until December 30th within Santa Fortuna. You only have one chance to successfully eliminate Murillo, and if you succeed, you’ll get the “Casual Tourist with Gloves” suit.

Here’s the briefing:

“Vicente Murillo is a rebellious political figure known as “The Revolutionary,” who mysteriously disappeared in South America during the 1980s. Murillo has now returned and plans to create a new world order beginning with Colombia. Intel shows that leveraging his narcissism, propensity for lying and paranoia induced drinking habit could help Agent 47 neutralize the militia leader and finally put an end to his radical plans.”

Hitman 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Is Agent 47 the coolest contract killer around? How satisfying is it to knock out goons with a fish? Find out in our Hitman 2 review.

IO Interactive have built on the bones of Hitman 2016 and in so many ways, what it has produced in Hitman 2 is a very traditional idea of a sequel. The same great parts, but more of it, and a few new treats sprinkled into the mix.

To be playing Hitman 2 after all that has transpired since the previous game’s release feels like something of a blessing. A chopping and changing content model eventually settled on an episodic structure that split fans, Square-Enix dumped developer IO Interactive after it sold less than it’d expected, but it did let IO go independent and retain the rights to Hitman. That was crucial, as it allowed Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment to pick up publishing duties for this sequel, and Hitman gets to live another day.

2016’s Hitman was an experimental soft reboot of the assassination series. It took the better parts of the divisive Hitman Absolution and joined it to the more traditional sandboxes of death that had made Hitman Blood Money such a beloved entry. There’s no great overhaul for Hitman 2 because there wasn’t much to change about its structure. Perhaps the most noticeable difference is the whole game is available day one this time.

Here we get six new locations, all varying in size and scope. Each comes with its story-based objectives, which are great for learning the ropes, and a multitude of paths to take to those objectives. As ever, the end goal of any mission is to kill your target and in a Hitman game, the delight and challenge is in finding the most inventive ways to make it look like an accident but still allowing you to improvise and be messy if things turn sour (and they will).

hitman 2 review 01

The locations contain an admirable number of moving parts that help and hinder Agent 47 in his path to the kill. in Hitman 2‘s opening level, you arrive at a remote beach and have to infiltrate a rather swanky looking house, which is the only building for miles. This mission acts as a tutorial for players old and new, noting the basic controls and rules where appropriate whilst showing this sequels new level of accessibility with a much-improved version of its ‘Opportunities’.

47 can now hide in tall grass and shrubbery, and this level shows that off quickly when you’re crouched unseen in tall grass as 47’s handler Diana suggests he take out the security camera with a well-placed shot. Not being seen effects your score and ranking for a mission so it makes sense to prevent digital proof of your visit becoming known. In Hitman tradition it’s not the only solution. You can, when you get inside the house and find the correct room, erase the video footage altogether, or you could simply sneak around and under the cameras. Hitman 2 is full of little choices like this, and it once again shows how much variety there is in any given playthrough.

The opening level is the smallest in scale of the six, and arguably the weakest on a first time play. The others are huge, sprawling worlds, filled with an exquisite range of opportunities, side stories, and improvisation. Any good Hitman should offer boundless replayability and that’s absolutely the case for Hitman 2. This is game where a fish is just as valid as a weapon as a silenced pistol (though throwing a big wet fish at an unsuspecting NPC is definitely more hilarious) and each map provides plenty of interesting tools, including a lot of costume and identity changes for our bald assassin to slip into.

hitman 2 review 04

On the surface, the likes of Santa Fortuna’s jungle village and the bustling streets of Mumbai seem straightforward, if almost overwhelming, but there’s so much to find in each area beyond the obvious. Mumbai, in particular, is a mixture of Hitman’s Sapienza and Marrakech levels, creating the labyrinthine quality of the former and the crowd level of the latter. It’s easy to slip by unnoticed through a crowd (Hitman 2 allows 47 to remain hidden in crowds, a godsend), but it’s also harder to get targets alone as there’s almost always a pair of eyes on you. It captures the thrill of the series at its peak. Figuring out these puzzles of death without turning it into a bloodbath is still among the most satisfying feelings in all of video games, and that Hitman 2 provides so many is a credit to IO Interactive’s dedication to the craft.

Hitman 2 is more consistent in its level quality than its predecessor. Every Hitman needs a standout though, a stage that draws the strengths of the series together into a classic level. While Mumbai is really good, it’s Vermont that steals the show. Taking place in a leafy suburb in the midst of an electoral campaign. There’s so much going on in an area that may not be as bustling as some of the stages, but it comes across as more of a lived-in place. Oh, and it’s jam-packed with fun little details and chances for Hitman’s signature dark comedy with its kills. To say more would spoil a level that is easily up there with the best IO Interactive has made for the series.

As with Hitman 2016, IO Interactive isn’t satisfied with just provided a selection of replayable sandboxes, there’s plenty more time investment to be found in Hitman 2, even more so than its predecessor. Contracts (user-created hits), Challenges, and Elusive Targets (limited time hits) all return, and two new modes join the fray that add a lot to the package.

Sniper Assassin is a sort of a standalone hi-score puzzle game where 47 can only take out targets with his high-powered sniper rifle. It reminds me very much of the arcade game Silent Scope and is a fun change of pace that ca be played in co-op.

The breakout star though is Ghost mode, a competitive 1v1 online multiplayer where both players have the same targets in their own versions of the same map. You must off five targets one after the other, and when one player makes a hit, the other has a short time period to off the same target in their world. Failure to do so awards the other player a point. You can also lose points by killing non-targets, so it’s a really tense battle of patience and quick-thinking. Do you make an improvised attempt to kill your target quickly when your opponent has beaten you to it on their side? It means you could cause chaos in your world that makes the next target a lot harder to reach, while your opponent saunters to it. IO Interactive didn’t have to add multiplayer to Hitman 2, but by making it fit the game’s core ideas, it’s created a refreshing experience. It’s just on the Miami map for now, but it’ll be exciting to see it transition to the maps new and old.

Old maps? Owners of Hitman 2016 can download the Legacy pack for Hitman 2 for free, and remarkably this adds every single level and mission from that game, and gives them a polish up with Hitman 2’s new mechanics. It’s a smart idea, and means that Hitman 2 can continue to grow and retain its legacy. It does, however, show up a deficiency in Hitman 2.

hitman 2 review 02

The cutscenes between story missions are no longer fully animated. Instead, we get a bunch of fancy stills with voiceovers. Now, cutscenes are not the draw in Hitman anyway, the levels are God, and all Hitman has ever needed for a story is a bit of background on the targets, and some in-level information. Hitman 2 insists upon continuing the 2016 story, which was light to begin with. The old cutscenes show up unaltered, and just make the new look stills feel a bit daft. The story itself is okay, but not really necessary. It’s definitely the low point of Hitman 2.

There are other minor quibbles. The game engine struggles with density at times, stuttering the frame rate. Nothing major, but noticeable all the same. Occasionally the facade of a living world slips hard when automated processes get interrupted at odd times. Hitman 2 isn’t going for realism though, so it’s not as immersion breaking as it could be.

While Hitman 2 is, in many ways, more of an upgrade to the previous game than a full-blooded sequel, it’s crammed full of interesting interaction and now its topped off with a genuinely excellent multiplayer in the form of Ghost Mode and legacy content, it’s the best Hitman package ever put together.

With IO Interactive’s Hitman 2 due out next week (November 13th, to be exact), it appears that previous games in the series will be getting a re-release.

According to listings on the Pan European Game Information board (or PEGI) website (thanks, Gematsu), 2012’s Hitman: Absolution and 2006’s Hitman: Blood Money were rated for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Europe in late September. This would indicate that these games would be getting a re-release down the road. IO Interactive hasn’t said anything about this (yet), but it’s fair to say that Hitman 2 is the current focus.

Hitman: Absolution first launched for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in November 2012, while Hitman: Blood Money first launched for Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC in May 2006.

Hitman 2 launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 13.

With the release of Hitman 2 just over a week away, IO Interactive and Warner Bros have released its launch trailer featuring the game’s first Elusive Target The Undying, played by Sean Bean, in some live-action footage.

In the trailer, Bean muses over Agent 47’s tools of the trade as gameplay footage of them in use is interlaced.

Bean is the latest celebrity target after Gary Busey and the Home Alone robbers had cameos in 2016’s Hitman. Elusive Targets are one-shot assassinations that only appear for a limited time. If you fail them, you cannot try again. It became one of Hitman’s most popular modes, and it’ll be interesting to see where IO Interactive goes with it for Hitman 2, especially with Warner Bros as publisher this time.

With Hitman 2 set for release next month (where you can kill Sean Bean), IO Interactive are still giving love to the first game with a Halloween Pack, which should be available as of 5pm BST/9am PST, and is free for everyone, not just owners of the base game.

Set in Colorado, players are given “full access to everything the location has to offer for a limited time”. This includes the Freedom Fighters mission, its Escalation Contracts and Colorado’s Featured Contracts. Contract Mode will also let you create your own Contracts, and you’ll also have 10 Featured Contracts “that are spooky, creepy or otherwise frightening”.

In addition, you’ll be able to get your Scarecrows on with a Scarecrow costume, which presumably factors into Contract Mode. The Halloween Pack will be available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Hitman 2 releases November 13.

Last week, IO Interactive had teased the first Elusive Target for their upcoming Hitman 2. For Hitman 2, Elusive Target missions are timed weekly challenges, where players must assassinate a target to unlock exclusive content. For the first Elusive Target, people had suspected that it was Sean Bean.

Lo and behold, they were right. Bean will take on the role of Mark Faba, a former MI5 agent turned freelance assassin. Nicknamed “The Undying”, Faba has a rep for faking his own death, which has resulted in him having a large bounty placed on him. For the first Elusive Target mission, appropriately named “The Undying”, players must stop Mark Faba before he can complete a contract at the Global Innovation Race event in Miami.

In addition to the new announcement trailer found below, players are also asked to vote on three different items referenced in the trailer to unlock an exclusive weapon later in the game. You can head here to vote on it.

The first Elusive Target mission is scheduled to release on 20th November, one week after Hitman 2 launches on November 13th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Now I know IO Interactive’s upcoming Hitman 2 isn’t really horror or sci-fi, but as Neil pointed out to me, the sequel to the 2016 reboot has a new multiplayer mode that’s part “Why didn’t they think of this before?”, part “This is too cool to pass up!”.

Ghost Mode is the brand-new multiplayer mode that takes 1v1 multiplayer and gives it a nice twist. Your objective in Ghost Mode is to kill targets faster and cleaner than your opponent. You’ll race to eliminate the same target to earn a point and then you’ll both move on to the next target. The first to earn five points will win. Items for your task can be found in Ghost Crates, which are available to both players, and contain the same items.

That’s the regular part. The twist comes with the fact that you and your opponent will hunt the same target, but in separate realities. You both play in the same location, but the status of your reality is only affected by your actions. On top of that, you’ll see a ghost version of your opponent in your reality, with their chosen disguise and items, as well as how close they are to the target in their reality.

When your opponent does score a successful target kill in their reality, you’ll have a short amount of time to do the same in your reality to equalize the score and keep pace. But remember, this isn’t Grand Theft Auto: Killing non-targets causes your score to decrease. It’s not always about being the fastest, but who can be the smartest about your kills. Definitely a genius use of the game’s mechanics.

Hitman 2 launches November 13th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Those jonsing for horror gaming in the depths of space can look forward to Ulta Ultra’s upcoming sci-fi horror game ECHO, which arrives September 19th on Steam and PlayStation 4. The devs, made up of former IO Interactive employees, have released a new trailer and a bunch of screenshots for the game, which from the trailer, looks to take a different approach that your typical “abandoned space station holding unknown horror” game.

In ECHO, you are cast as En, a rookie space traveller who has recently awakened from a century in stasis to arrive at The Palace, an ancient relic of a civilization eons gone. Inside The Palace, you find the structure itself is studying you and everything you do. Unfortunately for you, The Palace uses this information to attempt to kill you by creating ‘Echoes’, clones that will adapt to your playstyle as you progress. Your only area of safety is when The Palace shuts itself down in order to update its Echoes, allowing you to move without hindrance. However, once The Palace reawakens, expect tougher resistance.
