The Chant is set on a remote spiritual island retreat. As these things go, you soon discover the island’s dark past, and as a result, you’ve got to get out of Dodge. To survive you must craft, fight, and “escape the psychedelic horrors” set loose when a ritual goes wrong and awakens a dimension of cosmic terror. In true Lovecraftian fashion, the dimension feeds off of negative energy. This results in driving you and the others mad by preying on anxieties and fears, manifesting them as interdimensional creatures.

No Steam or Epic Games Store page is available just yet, but with the Summer around the corner, you can bet we’ll be seeing something very soon.

The Devolver Digital-produced sequel sees Lo Wang and his former employer-turned-nemesis Orochi Zilla joining forces to recapture an ancient dragon they unwillingly unleashed. Lo Wang must traverse uncharted parts of the world to track down the dark beast and delay the apocalypse yet again.

Shadow Warrior 3 is currently in development for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.

As for the trailer itself, it showcases key elements from the game’s story and features both primary locations and protagonists, including the Hound – a mysterious entity from the spirit world.

Players who pre-order the game will receive the digital Original Soundtrack (by Akira Yamaoka and Arkadiusz Reikowski) and The Art of The Medium (digital artbook).

Originally launched earlier this year for the Xbox Series and PC, The Medium will head to the PlayStation 5 on September 3.

The other big news is that the Painkiller series is back! The cult PC shooter has been resurrected by Prime Matter, with it being developed by World War Z team, Saber Interactive. No other info has been released at this time.

Originally hitting the Xbox Series and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store back in January to great success, Koch Media and Bloober Team had announced that the game is slated to be receiving a physical version down the road. No platforms were mentioned at the time, though with this new rating, that might change.

If you haven’t played the game (we did, and we loved it), The Medium has players assuming the role of Marianne, a spirit medium. Marianne travels to an abandoned communist resort to uncover its disturbing secrets. Along the way, she must use her psychic abilities to solve dual-reality puzzles, survive encounters with sinister spirits, and explore two realities at the same time.

Per Gematsu, the resurrected Free Radical Design will begin work on the new TimeSplitters game “in the coming months”. The new Free Radical Design team is made up key members of the original team, including founders Steve Ellis and David Doak.

In a press release, Deep Silver global brand and marketing director Paul Nicholls stated “It’s this unique style that earned the TimeSplitters series a large and passionate following who will, without doubt, be excited by the formation of Deep Silver’s latest studio and will look forward to learning more as the franchise moves forward.”

Steve Ellis added, “To finally be able to confirm that the studio has been formed and that we have a plan for the next TimeSplitters game is incredible. While we cannot tell you anything more at the moment, we look forward to sharing information in the future.”

For those unfamiliar with the TimeSplitters series, the first-person shooter was created by the same minds who created GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64. A mix of sci-fi, horror and humour, TimeSplitters has humans battling against a race of alien beings known as the TimeSplitters, who travel through time changing the course of history in order to bring about humanity’s destruction.

An enhanced remake of the original Observer starring Rutger Hauer, Observer: System Redux (which we reviewed here) hit PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC back in November of last year. Meanwhile, The Medium (which we also reviewed) launched earlier this year for PC and the Xbox Series to critical and commercial success.

The latest volley comes from Twitter, where after sending out a tweet regarding Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell being part of Xbox Games With Gold this month, one fan chimed in to ask about Dead Island 2. After being rebuffed by another user saying that the game was dead, and that they should move on to Dying Light, Deep Silver responded in kind:

The user, still not convinced, pressed Deep Silver. The publisher followed up with another Tweet saying that while they aren’t quite yet ready to announce anything regarding Dead Island 2, but when they do eventually say something, it’ll be through Twitter.

Many of us probably feel like that user at this point, though Koch Media has stated that they still very much have plans for the game (despite the original game turning a decade old next year). Regardless, the last thing that anyone’s heard of its development, is that Dead Island 2 is being developed for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Admittedly, the screenshots do show a game that looks a bit dated (though obviously they don’t represent the game’s final quality), but at least it shows that the game has been in the works for some time. Even if that time has been spent hopping between developers.

The project has been in development hell since its announcement back in 2014. Since then, the game has moved hands from the Dying Light team, to Sumo Studios, and now to Dambuster Studios.

And despite Dead Island 2 no longer being developed by Techland (who created the original game), Koch Media, which is owned by THQ Nordic, retains a good relationship with the developer. Kundratitz also isn’t concerned about the conflict of interests (as Dying Light 2 will be hitting retail in 2020, as well), saying it would be a conflict if both games were launching around the same time, but it won’t be a problem for them.

“It’s a great story to tell everyone that it’s on its third studio, but we like to be judged on the end result and we’re really confident that when it comes out it’s going to be a kick-ass zombie game,” Kundratitz continues. “We’ll certainly give it all our power.”

Dying Light 2 is to be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

I did not see this when it aired, so I’m unsure of how good it is or isn’t. I am fan of the Jules Verne story however, and I do like the cast quite a bit. Plus it was directed by Russell Mulcahy and he directed Highlander, so that’s cool. I think there’s a chance this could be fun. It’s a slight change, but a chance. What says you BD readers? Did anyone watch this when it originally aired?
