After premiering last month, Netflix has cancelled supernatural mystery seriesThe Boroughs,THR reports today.

The eight-episode show was created by showrunners Jeffrey Addiss & Will Matthews (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) and premiered on May 21.

The series logline reads,In a seemingly picturesque retirement community in the New Mexico desert, a group of unlikely heroes must band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing the one thing they don’t have… time.

Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Denis O’Hare, Clarke Peters, Bill Pullman, Carlos Miranda, Jena Malone, Seth Numrich, and Alice Kremelberg starred in the series.

The cast also featured Ed Begley Jr., Dee Wallace, Eric Edelstein, Rafael Casal, Mousa Hussein Kraish, Beth Bailey, Karan Soni, and Jane Kaczmarek.

Ben Taylor (Sex Education) directed the first two episodes, with Augustine Frizzell (Euphoria) and Kyle Patrick Alvarez (The Stanford Prison Experiment) also helming episodes.

Our own Daniel Kurland wrote in his season one review,Outside of its heartfelt performances and brief flashes of inspiration, The Boroughs is unfortunately as forgettable as the very people who have been shipped off to its community.

The Boroughsmay not have seen the same level of success asStranger Things, but it has remained a fixture in Netflix’s Top Ten ranking since its premiere.

The series’ cancellation after only one season is largely attributed to the series’ expensive sci-fi budget, and the fact that Executive Producers The Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things) are leaving Netflix for Paramount, where they’ll next tackle an untitled event film expected in 2028.

From director Louis Leterrier (“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance”), the sci-fi horror thriller The Last House is coming to Netflix this summer, and the official trailer has arrived.

Greta Lee and Wagner Moura star in The Last House. “A family of four are suddenly sealed inside their home with no way out, and must work together to survive against both their dwindling resources and the mysterious, looming threat that is keeping them trapped.”

Watch the trailer below and find The Last House only on Netflix August 7.

This one looks similar to The End of Oak Street, which is coming to theaters one week later. Both films center on families trapped in their suburban neighborhoods with a mysterious sci-fi/horror threat prowling outside, so they should make for a good double feature this summer.

Riley Chung (Sunrise), Emma Ho (“The Expanse”), Noah Alexander Sosnowski (Section 8), and Gabriel Barbosa (May December) also star in Netflix’s The Last House.

Matthew Robinson (Love and Monsters, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die) penned the script.

Leterrier produces alongside Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, & Kori Adelson and 3 Arts Entertainment’s Oly Obst. Executive producers include Thomas Benski, Cecile Gaget, Lars Sylvest, Thorsten Schumacher, and Damian Anderson.

Director Ishirō Honda (Godzilla) brought The Human Vapor to the screen for Toho back in 1960, and the classic tokusatsu film is getting a brand new series reboot from Netflix.

All eight episodes of  “Human Vapor” will premiere July 2 on Netflix.

Watch the brand new official trailer below.

Here’s the full official synopsis: “Kenji Okamoto (Shun Oguri), a detective on suspension, is recruited to hunt down the criminal behind a series of unprecedented murders. It all starts when a college professor suddenly swells and explodes on live television.

“Before anyone can process this bizarre event, a man calling himself the Human Vapor (UTA) announces that he will perform a series of murders, sending society into a great panic.

“Kenji and reporter Kyoko (Yu Aoi) devote themselves to uncovering the truth and catching the culprit, who seems to be mocking the authorities as they struggle to close in on him. With each new killing, he corrodes society with a formless, pervasive fear.”

“A legendary Toho film is rebooted with a brand-new story,” Netflix previews. “VFX by the Academy Award-winning team Shirogumi that amazed the world with its work on Godzilla Minus One is combined with an extraordinary sense of scale, represented by grand car chases. Shinzo Katayama directed “Human Vapor,” written by Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan) and Ryu Yong-jae. This marks the first collaboration between Netflix and Toho Studios.

The Ghostbusters franchise returns to the world of animation with brand new Netflix series “Ghostbusters: Night Shift,” and the official logo has been revealed this weekend.

Expect “Ghostbusters: Night Shift” to clock in on Netflix in 2027!

Netflix previews, “Ghostbusters: Night Shift, a series from Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation based on the beloved Ghostbusters franchise, will debut exclusively on Netflix in 2027.

“The new series marks the next chapter in the franchise’s ghoul-catching legacy, bringing supernatural comedy and paranormal action back to animation.”

The upcoming animated series from Netflix will be executive produced by Ben Hibon, Elliott Kalan, Jason Reitman, Gil Kenan, Amie Karp, and Dan Aykroyd.

Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, director of the original Ghostbusters features, and Kenan co-wrote the franchise’s most recent installments, Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Frozen Empire.

“This isn’t the first time the Ghostbusters universe has gone animated,” Netflix reminds in their press release today. “The 1980s and ’90s saw The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters take over the small screen. For now, you can rest assured: If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, a Ghostbuster will be on the job — even if it’s after hours.”

Netflix announced today that the fan-favorite seriesDevil May Cryhas been renewed for a third and final season following the recent debut of season two.

Created byCastlevaniashowrunner Adi Shankar, the animated adaptation of the popular Capcom game introduces a world where sinister forces seek to open a portal between the human and demon realms.

Caught in the middle is orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire Dante, unaware that the fate of the balance falls to him.

Across its two seasons, the series has appeared on the Netflix Global Top 10 for four weeks, with season one accumulating  21.7M views in 2025, and season two already off to a strong start, accumulating 6.4M views in just two weeks. All of which to say that the rapid renewal for the third and final season doesn’t come as a surprise.

For those of you who have been paying attention to the episode names, I have been showing you the structure the entire time. This was always Dante’s Divine Comedy with guns and a red coat. Season 1 was Inferno. Season 2 was Purgatorio. Season 3 will be Paradiso. These three seasons make upThe Force Edge Saga.Since its inception,The Force Edge Sagawas designed as a movie trilogy disguised as a television series,Shankar said of the announcement.

The voice cast forDevil May CrySeason 2 is led by Johnny Yong Bosch (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) as Dante, Robbie Daymond (Critical Role) as Vergil, and Scout Taylor-Compton (Rob Zombie’s Halloween) as Lady.

Daniel Kurland wrote in his second season review for BD,Winning chemistry between Dante and Vergil, as well as a narrative that isn’t afraid to put other characters in the spotlight, helps this season overcome some of the past season’s hurdles. This is a tight, economical season that doesn’t overstay its welcome, but part of the charm and impact is weakened the second time around.

Created by Hideki Kamiya, the first Devil May Cry game was released in 2001. There are now five main games in addition to several reboots, spin-offs, special editions, and mobile games.

Catch up on the first two seasons now streaming on Netflix.

From directors Arturo Ambriz and Roy AmbrizI Am Frankelda is billed as the first ever full length stop motion movie from Mexico, and it’s coming to Netflix this month.

Ahead of the film’s premiere, we’ve learned that I Am Frankelda is rated ‘PG’ for “scary content throughout, some violence, bloody images, thematic material and brief language.”

Watch the stunning official trailer for I Am Frankelda below.

The history-making stop-motion film is a dark fantasy set in a world of monsters, and it’s being released in select theaters as well as streaming only on Netflix on June 12, 2026.

Here’s the synopsis: “In 19th-century Mexico, Frankelda is a gifted writer whose dark tales are ignored and dismissed. Forced to suppress her voice, she refuses to give up, even as many try to silence her. But when she is thrust into her subconscious, the very monsters she created come to life.

“Guided by Herneval, a tormented prince trapped between dreams and nightmares, she must restore balance between fiction and reality before both realms collapse. Meanwhile, the sinister writer Procustes and his conspirators plot to seize control. As Frankelda and Herneval grow closer, their bond becomes both a strength and a curse.

“To rewrite their fate, she must confront a love that defies existence and reclaim her power as a storyteller—before dark forces consume her imagination and reveal horrors beyond her creation.”

The directors said in a joint statement, “As brothers, we grew up inventing worlds together, drawing, playing, imagining. Over time we understood that fictional characters were not only companions but guides. Sometimes they felt closer than the people around us. They provided us courage, wisdom, and solace. We believe fiction is not an escape from reality but a way of understanding it. A way of converting truth into palatable chunks. I Am Frankelda comes from a lifelong love of storytelling.”

Mireya Mendoza, Arturo Mercado Jr., and Luis Leonardo Suarez lead the voice cast.

Meagan Navarro writes in her review for Bloody Disgusting, “Mexico’s first stop-motion animated feature is a macabre beauty.” Meagan also notes in her review, “I Am Frankelda is a gothic fantasy feature whose boundless creativity is matched by its ambition.”

Released on Netflix back in March of this year, the science fiction action movie War Machine starring Alan Ritchson has proven to be a massive hit, and it’s now getting a sequel.

Deadline reports that Patrick Hughes (The Hitman’s Bodyguard, The Expendables 3) will return to direct War Machine 2 for Netflix, with Alan Ritchson likely returning to star.

The outlet notes, “Since bowing on March 26, War Machine has reached 139 million views on Netflix, making it one of the top ten most popular original films to ever bow on the streamer.”

In War Machine, during the final stage of US Army Ranger selection, an elite team’s training exercise turns into a fight for survival against an unimaginable threat.

Alan Ritchson stars with Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, Blake Richardson, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Daniel Webber.

Patrick Hughes will co-write War Machine 2 with James Beaufort.

Greg McLean (Wolf Creek) is on board to produce.

Paul Le wrote in his review of War Machine for Bloody Disgusting, “It just goes to show how influential a movie like Predator is—we’re still getting imitations all these years later. This new clash between military brawn and extraterrestrial precision gets points for simply going bigger with its alien antagonist, but nearly everything else in this movie is underwhelming.”

War Machine doesn’t have to be the next Predator, but surely it could have been more entertaining,” Le adds in his review. “It’s bordering on lifeless and takes itself too seriously.”

A stop-motion film from directors Arturo Ambriz and Roy Ambriz — protégés of Academy Award-winner Guillermo del Toro – I Am Frankelda is billed as the first ever full length stop motion movie from Mexico, and the handmade artistry is coming to Netflix this June.

I Am Frankelda comes from a lifelong love of storytelling.

“At the heart of the film is the relationship between Frankelda and Herneval: creator and creation, voice and echo. We are drawn to the mystery of ideas. We do not know if we invent them or if they find us. We only know that when they arrive, they ask to be brought into the world.

“This film is a dream for us. It holds everything we have loved since childhood: monsters, drama, music, color, intensity, culture and worldbuilding. We are moved by characters who feel deeply, who struggle, who transform. Frankelda is about a creator who insists on being heard, even when everything around her says no.”

Coming soon to Netflix is the genre-bending Sacrifice from director Romain Gavras (Athena), and the streamer has released a first look image while we wait for a premiere date.

Check out your first look at Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Evans in Sacrifice above.

The cast for the upcoming Netflix movie Sacrifice also includes Salma Hayek, Vincent Cassel, Ambika Mod, Sam Richardson, Charli XCX, Yung Lean, and John Malkovich.

Here’s the official synopsis: “A film star attempting a comeback is abducted with two others from an environmental gala by a radical group who believes their sacrifice will save humanity.”

There are a couple alternate plot rundowns for the film over on IMDb, one of which mentions supernatural powers and another that makes it clear Anya Taylor-Joy is playing a cult leader.

Here’s one alternate plot synopsis…

“At an elite fundraising gala, celebrities and socialites find themselves in danger when armed activists storm the venue in pursuit of a legendary relic that could unlock supernatural powers.”

And here’s a more detailed breakdown of the plot for Sacrifice

“During a star-studded charity gala brimming with celebrities, billionaires and empty speeches, a movie star in the midst of an existential crisis (Chris Evans) is taken hostage by a radical warrior (Anya Taylor-Joy) and her devoted followers.

“As the night descends into chaos, both an inward journey and an outward adventure ensue, where the line between performance and belief, salvation and sacrifice, begins to blur.”

For what it’s worth, IMDb lists the film as an “action-adventure-comedy,” so it might be one you don’t see too much coverage for here on Bloody Disgusting. But we’ll keep our eyes peeled.

Aging is inevitable. It’s an unavoidable tenet of life that happens to everyone, no matter how much you stay hydrated, slather moisturizer on, or pollute your face with filler. That biological clock is perpetually ticking, whether we like it or not. Horror loves to tackle the everyday stressors that hide in plain sight, and in many ways, the simple act of growing old and no longer recognizing yourself is the oldest form of body horror.

It’s no surprise that there are plenty of age-based horror films like Cocoon, The Leech Woman, and Old that tap into this space, not to mention genre movies like VFW, which celebrate bad-ass boomer energy.

In this sense, Netflix’s The Boroughs isn’t doing anything that hasn’t been done before. It’s an eight-episode series that looks at a bunch of people who feel invisible to society, only for them to gain a remarkable purpose that won’t just change their lives, but the entire world. It’s full of futile rage against getting older that’s balanced by the reassuring freedom that comes from accepting that it’s a normal – and even empowering – experience. It’s a sci-fi horror adventure about how to find meaning, value, and community when you feel utterly alone and like you’re just marking time.

The Boroughs is guilty of coming across as “Geriatric Stranger Things” as it stumbles through often-clunky puzzle-box storytelling. There’s still a lot of heart on display in this inspirational story, even if it’s unlikely to capture a fraction of Stranger Things’ fandom and become Netflix’s next big hit.

The new series takes an idyllic retirement community – the titular Boroughs – and transforms it into a paranormal prison where its discarded residents are turned into defenseless cannon fodder. Sam Cooper (Alfred Molina) is a retired engineer with a respect for the classics who becomes the newest resident. He’s immediately skeptical of this macabre community that’s proudly billed as “a town that’s just for grown-ups.”

Cooper is a curmudgeon with a capital C who can’t even let his guard down around his family. There’s an authenticity to the formulaic-but-comfortable lifestyle that’s laid out for Cooper and his fellow neighbors. He is an empathetic character, despite his rough edges. The bristling and loss of autonomy that he experiences highlights the similarities between trauma and getting older, with both subtly affecting one’s sense of self and physical body.

It’s fair for Cooper – or anyone – to resent having their agency taken away from them. Cooper grows especially resentful of this scenario and the Boroughs’ many modern creature comforts, such as the community’s personal Alexa-esque digital A.I. helper.

The Boroughs is a little glib when it comes to how it juxtaposes youth and modernity against the older generation in order to make its points. The same is true regarding how it approaches loneliness as a sickness and that a place like this can actually be an opportunity to live, rather than a place where people fade away and die. The Boroughs isn’t subtle about any of this, but it’s a mission statement that works more than it doesn’t, thanks to a cast that’s full of phenomenal performances.

The best thing that The Boroughs has going for it is a murderers’ row of top-tier performances. Bill Pullman, Geena Davis, Denis O’Hare, Clarke Peters, and Alfre Woodard help round out the cast alongside Molina. Everyone really commits and is clearly having fun in these roles. It’s a delight to just watch these characters bounce off of each other and slowly open up, even when it’s mundane moments where there are no active threats.

It’s a series that’s all about celebrating life, but there’s also a really melancholy nature to all this. This isn’t wholly unexpected in a series like this, as characters reflect on their fleeting mortality and how much of their lives they have left. Wally’s (O’Hare) storyline about dealing with a terminal illness as he tries to embrace an existence ofcocktails and chaosis particularly poignant. Each episode functions as cathartic character studies outside of the grander paranormal developments.

The Boroughs. Cr. Courtesy of Netflix © 2026

The Stranger Things parallels in The Boroughs are front and center, right down to the Duffer Brothers being on board as executive producers. There are also shades of other mysterious community series like Wayward Pines, From, and even The Prisoner present here, with some Stepford Wives-esque conformity thrown in for good measure. Also, much like Stranger Things before it, The Boroughs suffers from the ongoing issue with Netflix programs where characters repeat the plot and what they’re about to do ad nauseam. It also doesn’t help that The Boroughs is airing at the same time as Apple TV+’s far superior Widow’s Bay, which nails this type of tone and genre so damn well.

The Boroughs is at its best once it gets out of its own way, but there are still awkward affectations and unnecessary vestiges of puzzle-box storytelling that don’t feel natural. It actually feels like a series from the early 2010s during the height of the Lost copycat craze. It’s easy to picture The Boroughs as a successful contemporary to Revolution and Alcatraz, whereas its mysteries struggle to pull their weight in a modern context.

The Boroughs. Clarke Peters as Art in The Boroughs. Cr. Courtesy of Netflix © 2026

There’s plenty in The Boroughs that falls short of expectations. However, it’s not just hollow and gratuitous mystery-driven storytelling. There are satisfying answers that connect to creative mythology that explore an original idea through a curious lens. It’s also clever to connect antiquated technology and relics of the past to Cooper and company’s solution to these supernatural threats.

It’s earliest episodes take a minute to find their rhythm and really get moving. It gradually overcomes a cumbersome start in order to become something really special and heartwarming once it does its own thing. I found myself caring less about the mystery and more about these characters. There’s inventive lore, but also some telegraphed twists. The tone is also initially all over the place as if it can’t make up its mind over whether it’s supposed to be a comedy, drama, or horror series.

The Boroughs takes a really long walk to make its points. Some people may jump ship along the way, but they’re still powerful thoughts, all the same. The season ultimately turns into a battle between compliance and rebellion that’s presented through a supernatural filter, but speaks to a universal concept. It works well enough for what it is.

There are creative monster designs, suspenseful stakes, and effective needle drops that speak to these characters. Outside of its heartfelt performances and brief flashes of inspiration, The Boroughs is unfortunately as forgettable as the very people who have been shipped off to its community.

All eight episodes of The Boroughs begin streaming on May 21, 2026.

I Am Frankelda (Soy Frankelda), the history-making stop-motion film from directors Arturo and Roy Ambriz, is unleashing its monstrous bedtime stories on Netflix very soon.

The dark fantasy set in a world of monsters releases in select theaters and begins streaming on Netflix on June 12.

“To rewrite their fate, she must confront a love that defies existence and reclaim her power as a storyteller—before dark forces consume her imagination and reveal horrors beyond her creation.”

The Ambriz brothers, as protégés of Academy Award winner Guillermo del Toro, crafted the film with del Toro serving as a creative guide to the filmmakers.

Mireya Mendoza, Arturo Mercado Jr., and Luis Leonardo Suarez lead the voice cast.

I wrote in my Fantasia review of I Am Frankelda for Bloody Disgusting, “It’s a gothic fantasy feature whose boundless creativity is matched by ambition, so much so that it can barely contain its dense storytelling.”

More specifically, I Am Frankelda is a stunning work of DIY art: “There’s no shortage of colors, textures, and techniques on display to immerse viewers in the vibrant realm of nightmares personified, from the hairy arachnid legs of Procustes to a mesmerizing hand-painted montage. The Ambriz brothers’ feature directorial debut is pure DIY artistry.”

Look for Mexico’s first stop-motion animated feature to arrive on the streamer in just a few weeks.

Ella Rubin (Until Dawn, Fear Street: Prom Queen) has been cast in “The God of the Woods,” Netflix’s adaptation of Liz Moore‘s 2024 thriller novel.

She joins Maya Hawke (“Stranger Things”) and Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin, F1) in the project.

Set in the Adirondacks, the multi-generational series explores the Van Laar family’s dark secrets, class tensions, and the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from her family’s summer camp — in the wake of an earlier family tragedy that may be related.

As the past and present collide, the Van Laars’ wealth and influence unravel, revealing the damaging consequences of privilege and the abuse of power.

Rubin will play Louise Donnadieu, a working-class counselor at Camp Emerson whose life is upended when one of her young campers, Barbara, goes missing.

Condon plays Barbara’s mother, Alice Van Laar. Hawke plays Judy Luptack, investigator on the case.

Moore and Liz Hannah (The Post, “Mindhunter”) serve as co-showrunners in addition to executive producing with Neal H. Moritz & Pavun Shetty for Original Film (“The Boys,” I Know What You Did Last Summer).

Sony Pictures Television is the studio behind “The God of the Woods.” Stay tuned for more casting announcements.

Netflix’s most popular film ever continues to be golden. Deadline reports that the streamer has announced plans to launch a KPop Demon Hunters world tour.

What the new live experience will entail and participating cities have yet to be revealed, but eager fans can now sign up to join the waitlist for details.

Expect on-sale ticketing info, dates, and more to arrive later this year.

In the film, “Korean pop superstars Rumi, Mira, and Zoey use their secret identities as demon hunters to protect their fans from ever-present supernatural danger. Together, they must face their biggest threat — an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise.

Since its release last summer on Netflix, KPop Demon Hunters and its central group, HUNTR/X, have become a global sensation. And its popularity only continues to rise.

A sequel was officially greenlit earlier this year. Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans will return to direct and write the followup, kicking off the duo’s exclusive multi-year deal with Netflix across animation.

More notably, KPop Demon Hunters made Oscar history for the streamer, earning the awards for Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature.

KPop Demon Hunters has also conquered McDonald’s and will take on Shark Week next.

With KPop Demon Hunters, Maggie and Chris didn’t just reach audiences, they ignited a global fandom that crossed languages, generations, and genres,Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria said. We’re incredibly proud to deepen our partnership with them and, together with our partners at Sony Pictures Animation, build this universe in ways that will surprise and delight fans all over the world.

KPop Demon Hunters is officially unstoppable. Get ready to see HUNTR/X strengthen the Honmoon in person soon.

Netflix has announced “Barbaric,” a medieval fantasy series based on the Vault Comics title of the same name.

Creator Sheldon Turner (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Up in the Air) will write series in addition to serving as co-showrunner alongside Robert Rovner (“Supergirl”).

In the show, a ruthless and crass barbarian is cursed to only use his violence for good, which sends him, his talking axe and a young witch on a road of self discovery, redemption and revenge.

Executive producers include Turner & Jennifer Klein for 100% Production; Rovner; Barry Jossen & Tana Jamieson for A+E Studios; Javier Grillo-Marxuach, F.J. DeSanto, & Damian Wassel for Vault Comics; and Sam Claflin, Luke Carroll, & Michael Stevenson for Soft Claw Productions.

Described as Deadpool meets Game of Thrones, Barbaric was created in 2001 by writer Mike Moreci and artist Nathan Gooden.

A “Barbaric” series was first announced in 2024 with Michael Bay in talks to direct and Sam Claflin and Patrick Stewart starring. No talented is attached to the new version, as deals are still being finalized.

Director Ishirō Honda (Godzilla) brought The Human Vapor to the screen for Toho back in 1960, and the classic tokusatsu film is getting a brand new series reboot from Netflix.

All eight episodes of  “Human Vapor” will premiere July 2 on Netflix.

In the upcoming series, “The world is shocked when a person suddenly swells and explodes on live television. The culprit behind this unprecedented murder is a man who has been turned into gas: the Human Vapor. He announces and carries out a series of murders.

“The Human Vapor uses the nature of gas to move uninhibited and completely elude identification, each of his bizarre killings escalating a fervor of fear and curiosity across Japan.”

“A legendary Toho film is rebooted with a brand-new story,” Netflix previews. “VFX by the Academy Award-winning team Shirogumi that amazed the world with its work on Godzilla Minus One is combined with an extraordinary sense of scale, represented by grand car chases. A visual experience of a new dimension that far surpasses past Japanese drama series.”

Shun Oguri, Yu Aoi, Suzu Hirose, Kento Hayashi, and Yutaka Takenouchi star.

Shinzo Katayama directed “Human Vapor,” written by Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan) and Ryu Yong-jae. This marks the first collaboration between Netflix and Toho Studios.

Netflix has its share of animated series that feature vicious demon evisceration. However, Devil May Cry is the only series where Avril Lavigne’sSk8er Boiplays over a makeover montage and Drowning Pool’sLet the Bodies Hit the Floorcrescendos as a character has a traumatic flashback, and their PTSD begins to kick in.

Devil May Cry is blissfully lost in the 2000s, and it effortlessly taps into the pop culture aesthetic that was present when Devil May Cry first landed on the PlayStation 2. Netflix’s series continues to tonally nail the gaming franchise’s style and ethos, even if the storytelling, world-building, and characters don’t always mesh with their source material counterparts. After a promising debut, the second season is just as strong as the first, if not even a little better once it discards some of the first season’s unnecessary baggage and grows more confident in its writing.

After season one’s chaotic cliffhanger, Devil May Cry doesn’t waste any time as it launches right into new nightmares. Dante and company must assemble demonic artifacts so that Mundus can be defeated and Hell on Earth doesn’t literally come to pass. It’s a solid enough foundation for an eight-episode season of television that never stops moving or looking ahead as a result. Devil May Cry’s second season is well-paced and never strays from its grander purpose and the apocalyptic clash that it culminates in. It’s also appreciated that it doesn’t needlessly draw out Dante and Vergil’s reunion. Rest assured that these two cross paths – and blades – well before the season’s end.

The storyline seems to largely be pulling from Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, albeit while still taking many liberties with the source material. This means a heavy focus on Vergil this season, who gets to pick up a lot of the slack while Devil May Cry demonstrates a surprising degree of restraint before Dante reenters the picture. This impressive act of withholding is only possible because Devil May Cry now has Vergil – and Lady, for that matter – to lean on for its signature absurdist action spectacles.

This season also adopts a structure where Dante and Vergil’s childhoods are juxtaposed with their fractured relationship in the present. This helps reflect the full complexity of their relationship and just how far it’s fallen. It’s an approach that’s hardly revolutionary, but it still gives this season a little extra dramatic juice and an emotional center that makes sure that it’s more than just heightened battles of good versus evil. That being said, Vergil’s backstory and the fate that he’s subjected to are truly awful and a fitting depiction of Hell.

Devil May Cry spends a lot of time telling characters that loved ones are weaknesses and impediments against perfection, only to then reinforce that unity is always better than destruction. A family member’s shortcomings are just an opportunity for someone else to step in and pick up the slack. That’s what family is. This may seem glib and obvious, but Devil May Cry really interrogates the power and meaning behind that word. Everything in Devil May Cry’s second season boils down to family.

This makes it all the more interesting that these episodes entertain the deeply cynical idea that malevolent corporations are using two superpowered siblings as bargaining chips against each other. Their divine purpose ultimately fuels corporate profits and market dominance. The Devil May Cry games were always deeply sarcastic and sardonic, but this adaptation is decidedly more nihilistic about society, even when it’s not being taken over by hell demons.

This season also really leans into the self-aware propaganda that’s released by DARKCOM in an effort to appease the masses and control the narrative, that’s all very Robocop-coded. It’s an interesting element for season two to expand upon as the series tries to broaden its scope and add a few more irons into what’s already a very crowded fire. That being said, most people aren’t going to get overly excited by lengthy boardroom scenes with bureaucrats. There are also some heavy-handed moments that involve the liberation of innocent demons that feel forced and a little tooSaturday Morning Cartoonfor Devil May Cry. They’re just sporadic enough that they’re never a real distraction.

This is Devil May Cry, so at the end of the day this is a series that needs to truly deliver on extravagant action setpieces. Fortunately, the second season still kicks off with a bombastic assault on brutal hell beasts – all while the soundtrack blares with Papa Roach and Evanescence. From that point forward, Devil May Cry continually raises the bar for its carnage. Studio Mir does great work with this property, but the chaotic carnage still falls short of the impossibly high standards that Powerhouse set with Netflix’s Castlevania series.

There are really gruesome, exaggerated sequences that deliver a level of brutality that’s hard to find in this style of animation outside of Invincible. At the same time, it’s so impossibly removed from reality that it functions like a manic fever dream. At one point, Dante fires a rocket launcher and then rides the missile into battle. There are some messy massacres with soldiers that allow for a more reckless body count. Devil May Cry oddly succeeds as a loving tribute to the works of Go Nagai.

This second season works just as well as a companion piece to Devilman Crybaby as it does for any game from the Capcom franchise, especially when it comes to the season’s concluding clash. On the topic of the final fight, it’s the type of nonsensical pandemonium that gamers have come to expect from any of Devil May Cry’s boss battles.

On a grander scale, it’s impressive how this season handles Mundus as the central antagonist. It’d be very easy for Mundus to operate like some superfluous shadowy figure who barks orders from afar without actually proving his power. Devil May Cry uses the bulk of its premiere to highlight Mundus’ incomprehensible power and why he’s such an apocalyptic threat. Mundus’ God-like nature and the enormity of all this bring Netflix’s Blood of Zeus to mind, which admittedly had a lot more to say with its exploration of omnipotence and mankind’s fragility.

This season suffers from being slightly repetitive with so many battles that come down to the same blade-based combat and choreography. Devil May Cry sometimes expects the introduction of an exaggerated weapon to be enough to replace creative strategies and clever plot twists. Repetition aside, this season features some genuinely unique demon designs, even if a lot of this blood-soaked carnage blends together. The design for Jester is eerie perfection and considerably more distinct than season one’s White Rabbit.

Devil May Cry’s second season is an easy weekend binge that maintains the madcap tempo of the first season. Winning chemistry between Dante and Vergil, as well as a narrative that isn’t afraid to put other characters in the spotlight, helps this season overcome some of the past season’s hurdles. This is a tight, economical season that doesn’t overstay its welcome, but part of the charm and impact is weakened the second time around. This season’s world-building teases plenty of more adventures to come. Two seasons in, Devil May Cry needs to be careful not to become a parody of itself, which at times already feels like a parody, and still find ways to raise the stakes.

If nothing else, Devil May Cry is the best television series you’ll see this year that blares Korn during its final showdown.

Season two is now streaming on Netflix.

We had recently learned that a new Ghostbusters animated series and also an animated movie were in the works, and today brings an update on the series project from Netflix.

The streamer has announced today that their upcoming Ghostbusters animated television series will premiere sometime in 2027. The series is UNTITLED at this time, however.

Netflix previews, “Hailing from Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation, the high end animated series based on the beloved Ghostbusters IP will debut exclusively on Netflix in 2027.”

We’ve also learned that Dan Aykroyd has officially boarded the project as Executive Producer. The upcoming animated series will also be executive produced by Jason Reitman.

The full list of executive producers for Netflix’s Ghostbusters animated series includes Ben Hibon, Elliott Kalan, Jason Reitman, Gil Kenan, Amie Karp, and Dan Aykroyd.

The future of the live action Ghostbusters franchise is uncertain in the wake of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, but these animated projects should keep the property alive and well.

Plot details for the Ghostbusters animated movie and series are under wraps. For the series, Elliott Kalan has boarded the project as writer, showrunner, and executive producer.

The Ghostbusters franchise has of course made a mark on the world of animation in the past, with “The Real Ghostbusters” in the 1980s and “Extreme Ghostbusters” in the 1990s.

The executive producers of “Stranger Things” invite you to a new community in “The Boroughs” trailer.

Created by showrunners Jeffrey Addiss & Will Matthews (“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance”), the eight-episode mysterious sci-fi series drops May 21 on Netflix.

“In the sun-drenched expanse of the New Mexico desert lies The Boroughs, a picturesque retirement community promising its residents the time of their lives.

But for new arrival Sam Cooper, paradise feels more like a prison. Everything changes when a terrifying nighttime encounter reveals that something monstrous is stalking the manicured cul-de-sacs.

Dismissed by the powers that be as just another confused old man, Sam finds unlikely allies in a band of neighborhood misfits: a sharp-witted former journalist, a spiritual seeker, a cynical music manager, and a brilliant doctor running out of options.

Overlooked and underestimated, these unlikely heroes must band together to unravel the dark truth at the heart of The Boroughs before their time runs out.”

Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Denis O’Hare, Clarke Peters, Bill Pullman, Carlos Miranda, Jena Malone, Seth Numrich, and Alice Kremelberg star.

The cast also features Ed Begley Jr., Dee Wallace, Eric Edelstein, Rafael Casal, Mousa Hussein Kraish, Beth Bailey, Karan Soni, and Jane Kaczmarek.

Ben Taylor (“Sex Education”) directs the first two episodes, with Augustine Frizzell (“Euphoria”) and Kyle Patrick Alvarez (The Stanford Prison Experiment) helming the others.

The Duffer Brothers (“Stranger Things”) executive produce with Hilary Leavitt for Upside Down Pictures, alongside Addiss, Matthews, and Taylor.

“The central question of the show is: What will you do with the time you have left? And we literally say that in the pilot,” Addiss tells Netflix. “It was important to us that was the question, because it’s a question that anybody can ask. It’s a question that any audience of any age can ask. And our heroes are probably on the shorter end of the stack, so the stakes are higher. The choices they make matter more because they maybe have less time left — or they might have more time, because weird stuff is always happening in ‘The Boroughs.’”

“No one knows how much time they have left,” Matthews adds. “Everyone of every age is trying to figure out what to do with the time they have left. And sometimes that question is inspiring all the things you want to do. Sometimes that’s a weight. There’s a lot of different ways to face the rest of your life, but everyone is always facing the rest of their life. And that’s why it’s a show for everybody.”

Netflix has announced this morning that Under Paris 2, the sequel to their French shark attack movie from back in 2024, will be swimming onto the streaming service in 2027.

Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D, Crawl) will return to the aquatic horror arena to direct Under Paris 2, which has now entered production.

“I love Paris, and I always wanted to make a shark movie, so it was an obvious yes when the opportunity came to take the story even deeper,” Alexandre Aja said in a statement.

Xavier Gens directed the first Under Paris, which broke records as the streamer’s first non-English language film on Netflix with more than 102.3 million views. The shark attack horror movie’s post-apocalyptic ending offered an intriguing hook for continuation.

Variety reports that Bérénice Bejo and Nassim Lyes will both reprise their roles from the first movie. Guillaume Gouix, Phillippe Bas, Manon Bresch and Anne Marivin also star.

Set in Summer 2024, Under Paris unfolds in Paris, which is hosting the World Triathlon Championships on the Seine for the first time. Sophia, a brilliant scientist, learns from Mika, a young environmental activist, that a large shark is swimming deep in the river.

To avoid a bloodbath at the heart of the city, they have no choice but to join forces with Adil, the Seine river police commander. Can they save the day before being eaten alive?

The very first Korean young adult horror series from the streamer, the app-based “If Wishes Could Kill” is now streaming only on Netflix. Watch the official trailer down below.

Centered on a wish-granting app called Girigo that demands a deadly price, the Netflix horror series blends school-life drama with occult chills and a rising young cast. While delivering suspense, occult elements and the dread of an inescapable countdown, “If Wishes Could Kill” focuses also on friendship, growth and emotional bonds, as much as it does on scares.

Set at Seorin High School, “If Wishes Could Kill” follows five friends — Yoo Se-ah (Jeon So-young), Lim Na-ri (Kang Mi-na), Kim Geon-woo (Baek Sun-ho), Kang Ha-joon (Hyun Woo-seok), and Choi Hyeong-wook (Lee Hyo-je) — whose ordinary days are shattered when their wishes start coming true under terrifying conditions.

Director Park Youn-seo, who previously served as second unit director on “Kingdom” Season 2 and co-directed “Moving,” helms the series with a script by Park Joong-seop.

Netflix said in a statement, “If Wishes Could Kill follows in the footsteps of Netflix’s commitment to backing up-and-coming talent, as well as expanding the range of its Korean series lineup — from romantic comedies and revenge thrillers to its first YA horror story.”

Stream “If Wishes Could Kill” only on Netflix now.

Zoinks, it’s really happening! Netflix has announced today that production has begun in Atlanta, Georgia for Scooby-Doo: Origins, the official title for the live-action series.

As previously revealed, Maxwell Jenkins (“Lost in Space”) will play Fred, Tanner Hagen (“The Pitt”) will play Shaggy, and Abby Ryder Fortson (Ant-Man) will play Velma, joining Mckenna Grace (Scream 7) as Daphne.

Production brings the first look at the human characters; we’ll have to wait a bit longer for a peek at Scooby-Doo.

The new series is “a modern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group of teens and their very special dog. During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder.

“Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.”

Josh Appelbaum (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) and Scott Rosenberg (Venom, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) serve as showrunners and writers.

Toby Haynes (“Andor,” “Black Mirror”) will direct the first of eight episodes, in addition to serving as an executive producer.

Greg Berlanti (“Riverdale,” “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) will executive produce with Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman via Berlanti Productions and its overall deal with Warner Bros. Television.

Launched by Hanna-Barbera with the 1969 animated series “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!,” Scooby-Doo has remained one of pop culture’s most recognizable characters with more than a dozen animated series, three theatrical films, and more.

Stranger Things is one of the biggest and most expensive series Netflix has ever produced, and so you better believe that they’re going to get as much mileage out of this franchise as possible. Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 is the first of presumably many spin-offs and expansions that give the supernatural series an animated makeover. There’s nothing inherently wrong with an expanded Stranger Things universe. What’s important is whether this feels like a hollow, soulless extension of IP or whether it’s actually a story worth telling beyond the novelty of “More Stranger Things.

Unfortunately, Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 doesn’t rise above these low standards, and it’s hardly essential viewing. It’s a shameless attempt to recapture the magic of Stranger Things’ past at a point when it feels like they should have already left the party.

The most frustrating thing is that this spin-off teases so many other ideas and angles that would have been a great concept for this show. Instead, these appealing premises are ignored as Tales From ‘85 veers into a more derivative and generic direction that comes across as discarded B-sides instead of anything new. The prospect of a new paranormal mystery in Hawkins that’s experienced by the core cast is the least interesting vantage point. Tales From ‘85, as its title suggests, is also set between Stranger Things’ second and third seasons, even if this spin-off breaks some of its predecessor’s established canon.

It’s easy to picture Tales From ‘85 working as a spin-off expansion had it been released during the middle of Stranger Things’ run, rather than after the series’ conclusion, when there’s been considerable burnout. Tales From ‘85 tries to inject some rejuvenating energy into the formula with Nikki, a new kid who enters the gang’s orbit, even if her presence doesn’t make any sense. It’s not difficult to suspend one’s disbelief on this front, but it’s just so awkward that this pivotal character came and went, without ever being referenced again afterwards. She can conveniently be slotted into this series and removed without consequence.

Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 would actually be greatly improved and feel more natural if the whole show were from Nikki’s perspective, rather than making her just one of the gang. It’d be valuable to watch core characters from a fresh vantage point and to explore past events through a parallel and complementary perspective. Instead, it tries to shoehorn a new story onto existing characters. This angle could have better justified a lot of what Tales From ‘85 explores, yet it lacks the confidence to fully rid itself of the security blanket of existing characters. Ironically, it’s these characters that become its greatest weakness.

Tales From ‘85 is at its best when it captures that classic Saturday morning cartoon vibe, and it feels reminiscent of Tales from the Cryptkeeper or Goosebumps. It floats the idea of the Hawkins crew becoming the equivalent of Upside Down Ghostbusters, which is actually kind of perfect and would be great fodder for a spin-off. Unfortunately, the animated series doesn’t give itself the freedom to be more episodic in nature and go all out with this idea, which is really what’s necessary. It tries to saddle this premise to a greater timeline and gets lost in serialization.

The prospect of Stranger Things in winter shouldn’t be such an exciting development, but it’s appreciated to see how much mileage Tales From ‘85 gets out of the presence of snow. It’s a fun change of pace that provides some fleeting moments of entertainment. It also facilitates a winter mitt moment between Lucas and Max that’s actually quite sweet. However, it’s still something that would have been better suited for the main series, and here it comes across as a deleted scene afterthought.

This spin-off also features plenty of Stranger Things’ signaturescience experiment expositionsessions where crunchy lo-fi high school science provides the key to defeating some Upside Down demon. It’s well executed in Tales From ‘85, but it’s another example of this spin-off playing it far too safe. It’s more proof that Tales From ‘85 runs to the comfort of what’s previously worked, rather than using this spin-off as a chance to subvert expectations and discover something different. It’s so worried about being palatable that it fails to be interesting. Without these ambitious detours, it’s doomed to repeat the past’s mistakes and conjure increasingly diminishing returns. It’s the last thing that anybody needs from this.

Where Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 does shine is with many of its presentation elements. There’s a great, moody score that’s amplified by a pretty impressive soundtrack that’s full of era-appropriate needle drops that give off the energy of a major blockbuster. The visuals are sure to be a more polarizing point of controversy. The animation actually looks great when it’s depicting stylized sci-fi creatures and chaos. The monster designs and the neon-splattered color palette are Tales From ‘85’s most distinct features. That being said, people are another story.

Humans don’t look great here, and they come across as some uncanny valley version of the cast that doesn’t do the actors any favors. The visuals have the aesthetic of a Telltale Games title, which works just fine in a video game, but it’s jarring to watch in motion across a full season of television. It’s such a miscalculation that reiterates why this show should have probably just told interconnected stories within the established universe with new characters.

Honestly, it wouldn’t come as a huge surprise if Tales From ’85 was just a way to salvage the cancelled Telltale Games title and retrofit it into a season of television in order to do something with it. The Telltale Games release was announced during Stranger Things’ second season, which would also lend credence to why Tales From ’85 is haphazardly set between seasons two and three, a decision that seems random now but would have been logical during the game’s development. None of this would even matter if Tales from ‘85 still punched above its weight and was doing something original, but it’s not.

Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 builds to some decent action spectacles in the finale that even hit a little harder than the final fight from Stranger Things’ final season. It’s quite kid-coded and feels more like a Metroid boss battle than a Stranger Things setpiece, but it works. It’s the type of ending that Stranger Things fans have come to expect from a season of this franchise, for better and for worse. These paint-by-numbers climaxes aren’t going to hit as hard in a second season.

There are plenty of issues with Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85, and it’s not the restorative vehicle that the franchise needs most right now. This doesn’t seem like it’s going to appeal to many people other than the most devoted Stranger Things fans who have already seen The First Shadow enough times to have memorized its script. It’s a fun sci-fi adventure for those who lower their expectations and expect something frivolous that skews younger, like how Camp Cretaceous connects with Jurassic World.

Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 is branded content that’s passable for second screen viewing, that’s just familiar enough to drag the audience along. Hopefully, a hypothetical second season truly takes advantage of the full potential of a Stranger Things spin-off and peels back Hawkins’ layers like never before.

All ten episodes of Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 begins streaming on Netflix on April 23.

A group of retirees discover that their golden years are more dangerous than they ever could have expected in The Boroughs teaser trailer.

From the executive producers of “Stranger Things,” the mysterious sci-fi series drops May 21 on Netflix.

The eight-episode show is created by showrunners Jeffrey Addiss & Will Matthews (“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance”).

In the sun-drenched expanse of the New Mexico desert lies The Boroughs, a picturesque retirement community promising its residents the time of their lives.

But for new arrival Sam Cooper paradise feels more like a prison.

Overlooked and underestimated, these unlikely heroes must band together to unravel the dark truth at the heart of The Boroughs before their time runs out.

Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Denis O’Hare, Clarke Peters, Bill Pullman, Carlos Miranda, Jena Malone, Seth Numrich, and Alice Kremelberg star.

The cast also features Ed Begley Jr., Dee Wallace, Eric Edelstein, Rafael Casal, Mousa Hussein Kraish, Beth Bailey, Karan Soni, and Jane Kaczmarek.

Ben Taylor (“Sex Education”) directs the first two episode, with Augustine Frizzell (“Euphoria”) and Kyle Patrick Alvarez (The Stanford Prison Experiment) helming the others.

“Stranger Things” creators the Duffer Brothers executive produce with Hilary Leavitt for Upside Down Pictures, alongside Addiss, Matthews, and Taylor.

“From the beginning, we knew we wanted ‘The Boroughs’ to feel equal parts scary, mysterious, exciting and emotional,” Addiss & Matthews told Netflix. “The challenge was to create a world that could hold all of these different tones at once. Which is why it was so fun to work with the Duffer Brothers — the masters of balancing heart and horror.”

The Duffer Brothers add, “While the heroes in ‘The Boroughs’ have a few more years on them than the kids from ‘Stranger Things,’ they are a similarly lovable bunch of misfits, and we can’t wait for you to join them on an adventure that is at turns scary, funny, and deeply touching.”

A South Carolina town contends with rapidly rising floodwaters from a raging Category 5 hurricane in Thrash, and that’s before the sharks arrive for a storm-induced feeding frenzy.

Writer/Director Tommy Wirkola (Violent NightDead Snow) combines a natural disaster flick with shark horror, made more suspenseful by his approach to utilizing as many practical effects as possible. That includes building submerging set pieces.

Bloody Disgusting spoke with Thrash producers Adam McKay & Kevin Messick (Don’t Look Up, Fresh) about the technical challenges of making Wirkola’s latest, and its tricky tightrope walk of genres.

“We loved the idea of a storm thriller being combined with a shark movie,” McKay tells us of what got them excited about this project. “And then the fact that, since he pitched it, the idea of where sharks are increasing attacks because of climate warming is now actually, sadly starting to happen. So it was a combination of those factors, storm movie plus shark movie, and the underlying premise being based on the biggest emergency we’ve all ever faced: climate warming.”

Kevin Messick adds, “Then you throw in the special thought of Tommy, whom we met in 2009. We met him right after Dead Snow premiered at Sundance, and I believe we were his first Hollywood meeting when he first came over from Norway, and that’s where he pitched us Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, which was the first movie we made with him back in 2010, I think. So we’ve known Tommy a long time. He’s a great guy.”

Thrash. Phoebe Dynevor as Lisa in Thrash. Cr. Netflix © 2026.

Wirkola cuts straight to the action in Thrash, kicking off with a harrowing flash flood, followed by the destruction of a tanker truck transporting “McKay’s Meats” that dramatically chums up the floodwaters and entices a ravenous shiver of bull sharks.

It’s the type of gag that signals Thrash isn’t entirely serious, even if its approach to natural disasters is deadly serious. “That was meant to be a little more of a smaller nod. Then, when the art department put the logo on, it was a little too big, but yes, it was just fun,” Messick says.

There are a lot of moving parts to Thrash, between its Category 5 storm, its sharks, and its ensemble cast spread across a devastated town under siege. When asked which presented the most technical challenges, Messick was candid.

“The whole thing was a challenge,” he explains. “It was a modest budget. The whole town square is a big tank in a parking lot in Melbourne. So, the visual effects, not only for the sharks, but for the flooded devastation that you experience in the movie, were all very tricky. I’ll give you one example. In that town square, the production designer built the sets like Legos in three levels, because you can’t keep raising the water, but you can lower the buildings.

Thrash. (L-R) Alyla Browne as Dee, Dante Ubaldi as Will and Stacy Clausen as Ron in Thrash. Cr. Netflix © 2026.

“So the trick of what we did, as the floodwaters keep rising. The sets got shorter, if that makes sense. I thought it was genius when David Ingram, our production designer, came up with that plan, and it makes a lot of logical sense.

As for why Thrash is set in South Carolina, McKay points out the alarming increase in natural disasters, both in regularity and severity.

The producer states, “Sadly, there’s just more and more places that are experiencing the floods and the hurricanes and the torrential rains and tornadoes. There are a lot of places you could put it, but what we’re really seeing is Southern California, the Gulf, the Mid-Atlantic area, and Australia has had a bunch of shark attacks connected to climate warming due to torrential floods and rain. So there’s a lot of places you could go, but ultimately it was the Mid-Atlantic region, which once again, even though we made a fun popcorn movie, the tragedy of the reality is, we all know North Carolina has been hammered.”

Thrash is now streaming on Netflix.

Shark thriller Thrash isn’t the only aquatic creature feature arriving on Netflix today; the streamer has also unleashed India’s remake of the Thai killer croc movie The Pool.

Watch the trailer below for Tu Yaa Main, a vibrant update on Ping Lumpraploeng‘s The Pool that’s now streaming.

In Tu Yaa Main,A rapper from Nalasopara and a South Bombay influencer see their romance tested when a monsoon traps them with a man-eating crocodile.”

Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor star in the film directed by Bejoy Nambiar

The original film won the special mention award forMost Fun Movie to See with an Audienceat Fantastic Fest in 2019, where our own Trace Thurman raved in his review,Every once in a while, a movie comes along that is so stupid and so aware of that stupidity that you can’t help but be won over by its charms. It knows exactly what kind of movie it’s trying to be and doesn’t have any pretenses about beinghigh art.It knows what viewers are expecting and playfully toys with those expectations, stringing them along on a roller coaster of fun.”

In other words, The Pool leans into its preposterous setup and has a blast with it, and Tu Yaa Main appears to follow suit on a much bigger scale.

With The Pool currently streaming on Screambox, you can make this one a double feature this weekend.

This week kicked off with seven brand new horror movies releasing at home, and another six have now arrived both in theaters and at home. It’s the biggest new release day for horror in the month of April, in fact, with highly anticipated films including Exit 8, the new Faces of Death, and the found footage movie Hunting Matthew Nichols all arriving in theaters today.

But that’s just the beginning…

Here’s all the new horror that released April 10, 2026!

Exit 8 – Now Playing in Theaters

Based on the popular video game created by Kotake Create, NEON’s Exit 8 follows a man trapped in an endless sterile subway passageway as he sets out to find Exit 8.

Exit 8 is now playing only in theaters.

The rules of his quest are simple: do not overlook anything out of the ordinary. If you discover an anomaly, turn back immediately. If you don’t, carry on. Then leave from Exit 8.

But even a single oversight will send him back to the beginning. Will he ever reach his goal and escape this infinite corridor?

Kawamura Genki directs Exit 8 from a script he co-wrote with Kentaro Hirase.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review, “The true magic of Exit 8 lies with its impressive ability to recreate the feeling of playing a game, as you find yourself scouring the walls, floors, and ceilings of a cosmic backroom hallway to assist the Lost Man in his search for anomalies.”

Faces of Death – Now Playing in Theaters

The infamous Faces of Death tapes are back in brand new movie Faces of Death, which revives the cult classic 1970s faux documentary with a fresh meta take on the disturbing material.

Faces of Death is now playing in theaters from IFC and Shudder.

Continuing the exploration of the original film’s ‘Is it real or not?’ conceit, the reboot follows a woman working as a content moderator for a video platform who discovers what appears to be re-enactments of murders from Faces of Death. In an online world where nothing can be trusted, she must determine whether the violence is fiction or unfolding in real time.

Barbie Ferreira (“Euphoria”), Dacre Montgomery (“Stranger Things”), Josie Totah (“Saved by the Bell”), Aaron Holliday (Cocaine Bear), Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), and pop superstar Charli XCX star in director Daniel Goldhaber’s (Cam) remake.

Hunting Matthew Nichols – Now Playing in Theaters

Found footage finds itself back up on the big screen in director Markian Tarasiuk’s Hunting Matthew Nichols, and the indie horror movie is now playing only in theaters.

On Halloween 2001, Matthew Nichols and Jordan Reimer went into the forests of northern Vancouver Island near Port Rupert with a VHS camcorder — and vanished without a trace. Their camera was later recovered, but the boys were never found. Two decades later, Matthew’s sister, Tara, has hired a film crew to document her search for answers.

Miranda MacDougall and Ryan Alexander McDonald star.

“A sneaky, simmering take on the true crime folk horror genre that boils over and becomes truly unnerving,” Steven Soderbergh (Contagion, Ocean’s Eleven) praises. “Given the shocks, I would bet audience participation is guaranteed. And stay for the credits.”

Thrash – Now Streaming on Netflix

Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola’s (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Dead SnowViolent Night) shark attack movie Thrash is now streaming only on Netflix.

In Thrash, “When a Category 5 hurricane decimates a coastal town, the storm surge brings devastation, chaos…and something far more frightening: hungry sharks.”

Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak, and Djimon Hounsou star.

Thrash is rated “R” for “Bloody violent content, some grisly images, and language.”

The Yeti – Now Available on Digital

A throwback to the golden age of monster movies, Well Go USA unleashed The Yeti in select AMC theaters last week, and the film is now available on Digital outlets at home.

Set in the remote wilds of northern Alaska, a famed adventurer and an oil tycoon vanish without a trace in The Yeti. Their children set out on a desperate rescue mission only to discover that something far older and more dangerous than the Arctic itself has awakened.

A prehistoric predator is stalking them. The legend is real. The hunter is The Yeti…

Brittany Allen (“Dexter: Original Sin”), Eric Nelsen (A Walk Among the Tombstones), Corbin Bernsen (“Psych”), Jim Cummings (Halloween Kills), Christina Bennett Lind (“House of Cards”), and William Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption) lead the ensemble.

From Hardscrabble Film Company, Torfoot Entertainment Group and Radiant Films, the monster movie is written and directed by William Pisciotta and Gene Gallerano.

The Caretaker – Now Streaming on Tubi

A live-in aide will stop at nothing to become the man of the house in The Caretaker, the latest Tubi Original psychological thriller. The film is now streaming only on Tubi.

After a car accident leaves Miles paralyzed, his wife brings in a live-in caretaker to support them. At first, he seems like the perfect solution. But soon his presence becomes unsettling. Boundaries blur, control shifts, and what began as care turns into something dangerous. As the tension builds, one question remains — who is really in charge of the house?

Brandon Villano directs Tubi Original The Caretaker from a script by Geoffrey D. Calhoun. The pair previously collaborated on Lifetime’s The Past Comes Knocking.

Don Snipes, Hakeem Sharif, Robyn Rose, Levi Jones, Helki Jackson, and Mike T. Tremblay star in The Caretaker. You can watch the official trailer below.

Pairing aquatic predators with natural disasters is a time-honored tradition that includes precursors Crawl, Bait, and Sharknado before it. The latest, Netflix’s Thrash, sees a small Southern town trapped by raging floodwaters and ravenous sharks, a familiar premise made more tantalizing by the talent behind it: writer/director Tommy Wirkola (Violent Night, Dead Snow). The filmmaker injects his brand of camp horror fun into a serious eco-horror thriller, ensuring a lean feature that doesn’t overstay its welcome, even if a bit too familiar.

Thrash wastes not a second of its runtime, diving in immediately as the cozy town of Annieville, South Carolina, races to evacuate and brace for the incoming Category 5 hurricane mere hours from landfall. At the forefront of the scurrying residents are the agoraphobic 18-year-old Dakota Lewis (Whitney Peak), still reeling from the loss of her mother, and Lisa Fields (Phoebe Dynevor), an expectant mother held up by her job.

There are also orphaned Olson siblings Ron (Stacy Clausen, Leviticus), Dee (Alyla Browne, Sting), and Will (Dante Ubaldi), who are attempting to cope with their mistreatment by foster dad Billy (Matt Nable) as the flood waters rapidly rise. All quickly discover that the hurricane also swept in a shiver of aggressive bull sharks, along with a great white being tracked by marine biologist Dr. Dale Edwards (Djimon Hounsou).

Thrash. (L-R) Alyla Browne as Dee, Dante Ubaldi as Will and Stacy Clausen as Ron in Thrash. Cr. Netflix © 2026.

After succinct introductions, Wirkola gets right to the goods, plunging Annieville into debris-filled waters and chumming up shark-infested waters with a tanker truck filled with meat paste. From there, Thrash tracks its characters to a hellish night of survival as they’re all trapped in their respective corners of town by the elements and vicious predators. But characters are a distant secondary to spectacle in Thrash.

The protagonists contending with personal dilemmas and nature’s threats are never fleshed out beyond their initial defining features and archetypes. They’re also prone to bad dialogue and cheeky one-liners, with Hounsou relegated to exposition deliverer. Still, Peak and Dynevor bring enough affable charm and steely nerve to instill rooting interest and keep us engaged, while Clausen and Browne manage to ground their wacky subplot with genuine underdog pathos, and with a more authentic southern drawl than most would endeavor.

Of course, the characters aren’t the selling point here, but the shark feeding frenzy amidst a Category 5 storm so powerful it earns wisecracks about the need for a Category 6 distinction. It’s here where Thrash truly impresses. Production designer David Ingram (“Raised by Wolves”, Crazy Rich Asians) crafts an impressive array of practical set pieces, particularly a knockout town square that serves as center stage for aquatic action and rising water levels. Wirkola stages the water-soaked action with an appropriate level of scale and blends VFX with practical and effective ways. The sharks not only look great, but Wirkola smartly avoids employing them as anything but opportunistic predators on the constant prowl.

Thrash. Phoebe Dynevor as Lisa in Thrash. Cr. Netflix © 2026.

It’s Wirkola’s amused sense of adventure and the stunning craftsmanship that elevate Thrash beyond its straightforward disaster movie meets shark thriller plotting. There are no real surprises here at all. It’s easy to predict who’s marked for shark bait and who will survive, though at least there’s no shortage of fodder. It’s also a bit restrained for a Wirkola film; the impulses to embrace the preposterousness of the shark carnage are often damped down by the serious environmental messaging. The tonal clashes prevent Thrash from reaching its full zany potential.

Still, there’s just enough of Wirkola’s trademark wacky weirdness to entertain and get Thrash to its over-the-top finish line. Netflix’s newest shark thriller may not stand out in an ever-crowded sea of shark horror movies, but it gets the job done.

Thrash is now streaming on Netflix.

2.5 out of 5 skulls

A deadly new game begins in the trailer for Netflix’s “The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek.”

The standalone second season of the Danish psychological thriller series, which began with “The Chestnut Man” in 2021, streams May 7.

Danica Curcic and Mikkel Boe Følsgaard are back as lead investigators Naia Thulin and Mark Hess, joined by Sofie Gråbøl and Katinka Lærke Petersen.

A 41-year-old woman is reported missing, and when the police unravel her digital footprints, it becomes evident that she has been stalked for months. An unidentified perpetrator has been playing an involuntary game of hide and seek, surveilling her while sending her not only images and videos but also a seemingly innocent nursery rhyme-style counting song.

When the woman is later found murdered, it becomes evident that this case can be linked to a similar, unsolved murder case of a 17-year-old high school student who was found murdered two years ago. But what is the connection between the two victims? And when will the perpetrator begin to “play” hide and seek again?

Series creators Dorte Warnøe Høgh and Emilie Lebech Kaae return to write, based on the novel by Søren Sveistrup. Milad Alami and Roni Ezra each direct three of the six new episodes.

SAM Productions is behind the show, with Morten Kjems Hytten Juhl and Stine Meldgaard Madsen producing and Meta Louise Foldager Sørensen serving as executive producer.

The sky is darkening and the beast is close at hand in the “Lord of the Flies” trailer.

Based on William Golding‘s landmark 1954 novel, the dystopian drama limited series streams on Netflix May 4.

The new vision of chaos is created and written by Emmy winner Jack Thorne (“Adolescence,” Enola Holmes), with Marc Munden (“Utopia,” The Secret Garden) directing.

In the four-part series, when a group of English schoolboys crash-lands on a tropical island, their attempts to survive are threatened by the lure of their darkest instincts.

Winston Sawyers, Lox Pratt, David McKenna, and Ike Talbut star with Thomas Connor, Noah Flemyng, Cassius Flemyng, Cornelius Brandreth, and Tom Page-Turner.

“As a society, we’re having a conversation right now about boys,” Thorne told Netflix. “We’re losing a generation of boys, and we’re losing it because of the hate they are ingesting — because it is an answer to their loneliness and isolation.”

The series features music composed by Hans Zimmer (Dune, The Dark Knight), Kara Talve (“The Simpsons”), and Cristobal Tapia de Veer (“The White Lotus,” Smile).

Backed by Sony Pictures Television, executive producers include Thorne via One Shoe Films, Mund, and Joel Wilson & Jamie Campbell for Eleven (“Sex Education”).

“Lord of the Flies” was first released by the BBC in the UK and Stan in Australia in February.

We told you that May 2026 was set to be a massive month for brand new horror movies, but what about April 2026? This month is equally loaded with fresh nightmares, from originals like The Yeti, Thrash, Thinestra, and Hunting Matthew Nichols to new takes on classic franchises and iconic monsters including Faces of Death and director Lee Cronin’s The Mummy.

Here are thirteen new horror movies releasing in April 2026.

Rabisu: Curse of the Demon – On Digital April 3

rabisu found footage movie

One of many upcoming found footage horror movies here in 2026 is the indie Rabisu: Curse of the Demon, available on VOD outlets at home on April 3 via DeskPop Entertainment.

In December ’25, a group of ghost hunters entered a warehouse in Salt Lake City. They were searching for views, but what they found was an ancient evil from Mesopotamian mythology.

That footage is now being released. Rabisu: Curse of the Demon follows a rising paranormal investigation team that acts on an anonymous tip, leading them to a remote warehouse rumored to contain the sealed remains of an ancient Assyrian djinn. Once inside, the group encounters a labyrinth of curated mannequins, toys, and costumes — until the lights fail.

When power returns, one member begins exhibiting signs of possession, revealing the entity’s chilling ability to manipulate minds and incite violence. With exits sealed and the building itself seemingly shifting, the team uncovers remnants of a failed prior investigation and races to contain the demon before it destroys them from within.

Hunter King (“The Young and the Restless”), Chase Ramsey (Horizon: An American Saga), Austin Archer (Horizon: An American Saga), Lindsay Foster (Horizon: An American Saga), Tariq Brown, and Wes Brown (“True Blood”) star in Rabisu: Curse of the Demon. Writer-director Chris Copier makes his feature debut on the project.

Watch the official trailer for Rabisu: Curse of the Demon below.

Based on the popular video game created by Kotake Create, NEON’s Exit 8 follows a man trapped in an endless sterile subway passageway as he sets out to find Exit 8.

Find out when Exit 8 releases in theaters April 10.

In an online world where nothing can be trusted, she must determine whether the violence is fiction or unfolding in real time.

Arriving on Netflix this week is new action-fantasy VFX spectacle series Agent from Above, and a fresh batch of images previews the battle between mortal and immortal realms.

Agent from Above debuts its 6-episode series globally on Netlix on April 2, 2026.

The series is an adaptation of the first installment of Taiwanese author Teensy’s popular novel series The Oracle Comes.

It follows “Han Chieh (Kai Ko), a spirit medium bound to serve the Third Crown Prince (Wang Po-chieh) to atone for a childhood mistake by resolving supernatural disturbances in the human world. Along the way, he meets the optimistic college student Yeh Tzu (Buffy Chen) and detective Chang Min (Johnny Yang), who can see spirits.

“Together, they face deadly confrontations with the mysterious and ruthless villain Chen Chi-sha (Chen Yi-wen), while uncovering the truth behind Chen Wu Tien-chi (Hsueh Shih-ling), a being threatening the balance between the human and demon realms — leading Han Chieh to rediscover his purpose and the true meaning of his gift.”

Agent from Above is directed by Kuan Wei-chieh and Lai Chun-yu.

Expect Taiwan’s temple culture to infuse with the contemporary world in this VFX-heavy new show.

Director Kuan told Netflix, “The series showcases extensive VFX and dynamic fight choreography. But beyond the spectacle, there’s attitude and defiance — a visceral energy that pulses through every frame. At the same time, beneath the action lies a deeper question: how do we confront our own sins and the choices we make, and accept the responsibility that comes with them?”

Filming finally wrapped in March 2023, and after nearly three years of post-production, it’s finally ready for its 2026 debut.

Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Dead SnowViolent Night) is back with Thrash, a Netflix shark attack movie swimming our way next month.

Thrash will be streaming on Netflix April 10. Check out the poster below.

In Thrash, “When a Category 5 hurricane decimates a coastal town, the storm surge brings devastation, chaos…and something far more frightening: hungry sharks.”

Wirkola said, “I became obsessed with sharks after Jaws—and Jaws 2, which is an underrated movie. I spent a lot of my childhood obsessing over sharks and whatever movie was made about that subject. Fast forward to a world going off its rails when it comes to global warming and flash floods happening everywhere, and it dawned on me that this could be a great setting-off point for a movie, combining the idea of a disaster-movie with a shark-thriller.”

Producer Adam McKay adds, “More and more, you’re hearing marine biologists acknowledge that climate is changing where these sharks go. It’s changing how they behave. So, in as much as this is an edge-of-your-seat popcorn film, the science behind it is not implausible.”

Who stars in Netflix’s Thrash?

The Thrash cast includes…

  • Phoebe Dynevor (“Bridgerton”)
  • Whitney Peak (Hocus Pocus 2)
  • Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place: Part II)
  • Alyla Browne
  • Stacy Clausen
  • Costa D’Angelo
  • Amy Mathews
  • Elijah Ungvary
  • Dante Ubaldi
  • Jon Prasida
  • Gemma Dart
  • Akosia Sabet
  • Sian Luxford
  • Sami Afuni

Thrash is rated “R” for “Bloody violent content, some grisly images, and language.”

Hungry for more shark attack movies?

Other upcoming shark attack horror movies this year include Renny Harlin’s Deep Water, Sorority Shark Attack, and Netflix sequel Under Paris 2 from director Alexandre Aja.

Netflix has released the first official teaser trailer for “If Wishes Could Kill,” an upcoming series that the streamer is promoting as their first Korean young adult horror series.

“If Wishes Could Kill” will premiere April 24 on Netflix.

Marriage is supposed to be one of the happiest moments in a person’s life. It’s the ultimate trust exercise and a true union between not just two lives, but full family trees that become intertwined into a shared existence. Marriage can be the truest expression of love.

It also represents the apex of vulnerability. This couple must bear their souls – fully and completely – and decide if this is what they want the rest of their life to look like. It’s a beautiful exercise, albeit one that can also exacerbate the cracks in a relationship so that romantic love and devotion congeal into annoyance and obligation. Marriage sits at the crossroads of renewal and destruction, which is why this emotionally heightened milestone is such fitting territory to explore in horror.

Marriage is a lovely tradition, but it’s also a custom that has an inherent darkness that’s baked into the pomp and circumstance, as death and eternity are echoed through commitment vows. Netflix’s Something Very Bad is Going to Happen is far from the first horror story that tackles marriage. However, Haley Z. Boston (Brand New Cherry Flavor) attempts to turn this series into a definitive deconstruction of marriage’s potential toxicity from the female perspective. It’s a horror text that’s thematically at peace with Carrie’s approach to maturing womanhood and Rosemary’s Baby’s take on motherhood.

Something Very Bad is Going to Happen. (L to R) Camila Morrone as Rachel Harkin, Adam DiMarco as Nicky Cunningham in episode 105 of Something Very Bad is Going to Happen. Cr. Courtesy of Netflix © 2026

The series keys into that magical period when you’re planning your future with someone, and anything feels possible, yet these inviting dreams can easily transform into nightmares. It’s a dark story that ripples between generations and argues that life can be full of cyclical patterns that are bigger than us and inescapable. A sinister karmic undertow threatens to sentence this bride and groom to cosmic doom. It toes the line between cathartic character drama and surreal occult horror story. It’s Netflix’s best horror series of 2026 and a title that’s as fascinating as it is frightening.

It’s clear from the title alone that there’s going to be carnage in Something Very Bad is Going to Happen. However, the fact that it culminates in a bloodbath isn’t what’s shocking here. It’s the explanation behind this massacre that’s sure to unsettle the audience. The series builds up to Rachel (Camila Morrone) and Nicky’s (Adam DiMarco) impending wedding, when an unexpected tragedy threatens to throw these plans off kilter. This emotional stressor soon feels like the least of everybody’s problems as looming nuptial obligations mix with past family trauma and the potential summoning of a supernatural scourge.

Something Very Bad is Going to Happen crafts an effective formula where mundane wedding tasks overlap with dark, disturbing horrors. There’s such a clear, distinct voice on display from creator and showrunner, Haley Z. Boston. It functions like an evolution of Brand New Cherry Flavor’s intimate, female-driven anxieties, but mixed together with a touch of Ready or Not‘s social hierarchical storytelling.

Simple stylized details, like a POV shot from Rachel’s perspective that’s obscured through the gauzy fabric of a wedding veil, make sure that innocuous moments are visually profound and resonant. These heightened touches also condition the audience to understand that this is not your average newlywed horror story. Kinetic, intuitive editing helps reflect Rachel’s frayed mental state.

There’s a very magpie-like quality to the series as it pieces together dark stories from random sources that all come together and contribute to this grander collage of trauma. Right from the start, Something Very Bad is Going to Happen is presented as a haunted world in which sweet anecdotes are filtered through depraved darkness. An aside about ice cream turns into a digression about serial killers. Killer needle drops recontextualize romantic love songs into melancholy portents of doom. It’s a potent point of view that vacillates between extremes in this fragile world that’s one crack away from shattering into pieces. A free-floating feeling of deception lingers through the series and makes it impossible to trust anything. It’s almost as if Rachel’s toxic thought process and anxiety are in control of the camera and editing.

Rachel and Nicky’s evolving relationship is the series’ most gripping dynamic. There’s such comfortable chemistry between these two that feeds into the odd – and sometimes even perverse – traditions that we do for our spouses in order to accommodate them and achieve a happy marriage. Everyone is keyed in with their performances to achieve the right tone. However, Camila Morrone really steals the show as Rachel. So much of the series rests on Morrone’s performance, and she absolutely rises to the occasion. She delivers such captivating, layered work that channels extreme emotions as the universe puts her through the wringer.

Something Very Bad is Going to Happen isn’t afraid to get lost in thematic detours, but it still makes sure that the scares actually deliver. There’s a mounting dread that crescendos over these eight episodes that does something original and doesn’t just rely upon tired jump scares. There are so many uncomfortable and disturbing visuals that will leave the audience feeling haunted. Creative, natural use of found-footage camcorder aesthetics also amplifies certain moments. There’s one flashback episode that relies on this device that could easily be a standout V/H/S franchise segment.

So much of Something Very Bad is Going to Happen’s success boils down to its ending. This is a structure that often seems set up to fail, but Something Very Bad is Going to Happen both sticks the landing and defies expectations. It provides answers and finality over arbitrary twists and hollow setups. Something Very Bad is Going to Happen achieves a chaotic, claustrophobic quality that capitulates over its final episodes. It’s full of unnerving moments that play with the audience’s perception, all while it tells a story that’s surprisingly inspirational. It’s a touching, terrifying story that preaches the virtues of soulmates and whether love is enough to overpower death.

All eight episodes of Something Very Bad is Going to Happen are now streaming on Netflix.

Thing from “Wednesday” will be lending a hand with the ceremonial first pitch ahead of MLB’s opening night game on March 25.

It’s unclear if it’ll actually be Thing actor Victor Dorobantu throwing the pitch, but this is certainly one way to make baseball more interesting to outsiders.

The stunt brings to mind the time when The Ring‘s Sadako pitched to Ju-On‘s Kayako to promote Sadako vs Kayako in Japan back in 2016.

The New York Yankees take on the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park in San Francisco live on Netflix tomorrow at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT. Coverage begins an hour before game time.

Netflix’s #1 most-watched series, “Wednesday” is created by showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar. Season 3 recently entered production for an expected 2027 return.

After dominating charts, screens, and playlists, KPop Demon Hunters is heading to McDonald’s to bring the battle between HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys straight to the fans.

Launching March 31, the partnership between McDonald’s and KPop Demon Hunters features two new adult meals that brings flavors from McDonald’s restaurants in South Korea, along with exclusive photo cards that unlock first-access content.

The Saja Boys Breakfast Meal includes:

  • Spicy Saja McMuffin – A sausage egg McMuffin topped with a peppery Spicy Saja Sauce; inspired by the fire of Gwi-Ma
  • Hash Browns
  • Small Soft Drink
  • Exclusive Saja Boys Photo Card with Derby Access Card

The HUNTR/X Meal includes:

  • 10-piece Chicken McNuggets
  • Ramyeon McShaker Fries – A spicy, umami spin on French fires featuring a soy, garlic, sesame and spice seasoning; inspired by Rumi, Mira and Zoey’s go-to snack
  • Hunter Sauce – A sweet chili sauce mixing notes of chili, garlic and pepper with just enough heat
  • Demon Sauce – A bold, purple mustard sauce with heat and tang
  • Medium Soft Drink
  • Exclusive HUNTR/X Photo Card with Derby Access Card

Fans can scan the QR code on each Derpy card and enter the unique code on the McDonald’s App by April 26 to unlock exclusive content and a special reveal of the group that wins the Battle for the Fans.

A Derpy McFlurry — blending creamy vanilla soft serve with berry popping pearls, enrobed in a wild berry sauce — will also be available a la carte.

“Everything we do at McDonald’s is for the fans, and no one can relate to that more than Netflix and KPop Demon Hunters,” said Alyssa Buetikofer, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s. “Big things happen when you bring two massive fandoms together, and this partnership was a natural fit. We found authentic ways to unite our iconic worlds — inviting HUNTR/X and Saja Boys fans into the rivalry in ways that feel true to the film and unmistakably McDonald’s.”

KPop Demon Hunters has ignited an incredibly passionate global fandom, and we’re always looking for authentic ways to bring fans deeper into the worlds they love,” addsed Marian Lee, Chief Marketing Officer, Netflix. “With McDonald’s, we were able to turn the rivalry between The Saja Boys and HUNTR/X into something fans can actually experience, drawing inspiration from Korean culture and food traditions that sit at the heart of the film. From Ramyeon McShaker Fries to Demon sauces paired with Soda Pop, every detail was designed to feel like it could have come straight out of a scene in the movie.”

The Battle for the Fans begins next Tuesday at participating McDonald’s locations.

In KPop Demon Hunters, Korean pop superstars Rumi, Mira, and Zoey use their secret identities as demon hunters to protect their fans from ever-present supernatural danger. Together, they must face their biggest threat — an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise.

The animated fantasy musical premiered on Netflix in June 2025. It went on to become the streamer’s all-time most-watched original title with over 325 million views and earned two Academy Awards: Animated Feature Film and Original Song (“Golden”).

KPop Demon Hunters 2 is currently in the works with Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans returning to write and direct.

For the first time ever (we think?), every single movie in the 10-film Saw franchise is now streaming in a single place, with Netflix becoming the new home of all things Saw.

Every. Single. Saw movie. Now streaming on Netflix!

The complete franchise collection includes…

  • Saw (2004)
  • Saw II (2005)
  • Saw III (2006)
  • Saw IV (2007)
  • Saw V (2008)
  • Saw VI (2009)
  • Saw: The Final Chapter (2010)
  • Jigsaw (2017)
  • Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021)
  • Saw X (2023)

Netflix previews, “Sharpen your bone saws and keep an eye out for reverse bear traps — it’s time for a Saw marathon. Created by horror maestros James Wan (The Conjuring) and Leigh Whannell (Insidious), the iconic franchise’s first, eponymous movie premiered in 2004 and spawned nine bloody follow-up flicks over almost 20 years.

“The series follows the machinations of John Kramer (Tobin Bell), aka Jigsaw, a serial killer who punishes those he deems immoral by imprisoning them in brutal, elaborate traps that force them to hurt themselves — or others — to survive,” Netflix’s official description continues.

Why is now a good time to catch up on the Saw franchise? Because James Wan and Leigh Whannell are soon bringing the saga back to life with a brand new movie over at Blumhouse!

Wan told Bloody Disgusting back in January, “Leigh and I, we’re not going to give too much away, but we don’t think you can make a Saw movie without Jigsaw. That’s the bottom line. And ultimately, we want to hark back to the spirit, what Leigh and I love about the original first movie. The original first movie, which is Jigsaw’s philosophy and what makes him tick.”

Wan continued, “Ultimately, he’s a scary guy in the first one, and we want to go back to making a scary Saw movie again, with this omnipresent thing that Jigsaw had in the first film. We want to give the fans what they love about the whole franchise as well, whilst I think it’s very important we want to do something new and fresh that hasn’t been done before.”

Stay tuned for more on all things Saw.

“Stranger Things” breakout Maya Hawke has been tapped to star in “The God of the Woods,” Netflix’s series adaptation of Liz Moore‘s 2024 bestselling thriller novel.

A multi-generational drama series set in the Adirondacks, the show explores the Van Laar family’s dark secrets, class tensions, and the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from her family’s summer camp — in the wake of an earlier family tragedy that may be related.

As the past and present collide, the Van Laars’ wealth and influence unravel, revealing the damaging consequences of privilege and the abuse of power.

Hawke will play Judy Luptack, the first female investigator in the male-dominated Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Smart and quietly determined, Judy is assigned to unravel the disappearance of a young girl in upstate New York.

Hawke’s other upcoming projects include The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, in theaters November 20, and the supernatural rom-com Wishful Thinking, which just premiered at SXSW.

Nia DaCosta’s 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is available now on Digital ahead of its physical media release on April 21, and now we’ve got a streaming premiere date.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will be streaming on Netflix March 31, 2026.

In the continuation of the epic story, the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival — the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying. Dr. Kelson finds himself in a shocking new relationship — with consequences that could change the world — and Spike’s encounter with Jimmy becomes a nightmare he can’t escape.

Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, Erin Kellyman, and Chi Lewis-Parry star in The Bone Temple, with Cillian Murphy reprising his 28 Days Later role.

Meagan wrote in her rave review for Bloody Disgusting, “Director Nia DaCosta takes the reins with fearless gusto, making this entry wholly her own while pushing the overarching story and its richly layered themes into darker, grislier, funnier, and more poignant territory.”

The big question at this point is whether or not the 28 Years Later trilogy will be finished with the planned third installment. Teased at the end of The Bone Temple, Cillian Murphy is expected to star in 28 Years Later 3, but the third and final installment in the saga has been called into question after this year’s box office underperformance of The Bone Temple.

The Bone Temple made just $57.8 million at the worldwide box office, a far cry from the $151.3 million worldwide total of 28 Years Later. The reported production budget for The Bone Temple was $63 million, so it’ll have to be a massive hit on streaming, Digital and physical media in order for Sony to move forward with the planned final installment in this new trilogy.
