If you’re looking to break up your horror movie marathons or simply need a break, there’s no shortage of great binge-worthy genre series at your disposal right now. To make it easier to navigate the hours upon hours of horror across multiple platforms currently available, we’ve whipped up a handy guide for you. It’s only scratching the surface of what’s available, too.

From retro series worth revisiting, to brand-new episodes to discover and dig into for the first time, these binge-worthy shows make for a fantastic start to endless TV watching.

Hulu

“The Exorcist”

The Exorcist TV

This show deserved a lot more love and attention during its run on Fox. Created by Jeremy Slater, season one kicks off with Angela Rance (Geena Davis) enlisting the help of two priests when she suspects a demonic entity is targeting her family. It’s only the beginning of a twisty and harrowing nightmare conspiracy. Season two offers a whole new family and scenario coping with demonic possession. Seriously, this show is great.

“Preacher”

Based on Garth Ennis’s comic book, this series follows Jesse Custer, a preacher in a small town trying to evade his previous life of crime. Supernatural events change everything, causing him to enlist his ex Tulip and Irish vampire Cassidy in his quest for answers.

“American Horror Story”

Though this anthology horror story by Ryan Murphy is also available on Netflix and Prime Video, Hulu has the advantage of being the only one to offer the most recent season; “1984”.

“The Terror”

A supernatural horror anthology series, with each season drawing inspiration from historical events. Season one was based on Dan Simmons’ novel of the same name, a fictional account of Captain Sir James Franklin’s lost expedition to locate the Northwest Passage. Season two centered around a Japanese American community haunted by bakemono during World War II.

“NOS4A2”

Based on Joe Hill’s epic novel, immortal vampire Charlie Manx feeds off children, transforming them into monstrous shells in his nightmarish Christmasland. Only a New England teen with a unique gift can stand in his way.

“Castle Rock”

Taking place in Stephen King’s fictional town of Castle Rock, characters, themes, and plot beats from King’s novels are re-purposed to create completely new stories in “Castle Rock.” Two seasons are currently available, with season two centered on Misery‘s Annie Wilkes.

“The Purge”

Once a year, any and all crime – including murder – is legal in America for a period of 12 hours. A spinoff TV series from the popular film franchise.

“Stan Against Evil”

John C. McGinley stars as a retired sheriff who joins forces with the new sheriff to fend off demons plaguing their town. Think wacky horror comedy in the vein of Ash vs. Evil Dead, but from creator Dana Gould.

“Twin Peaks”

Mark Frost and David Lynch’s beloved series follows quirky FBI Agent Dale Cooper in his quest to solve the murder of a young woman in the bizarre town of Twin Peaks.

“Salem”

Salem

A fictional retelling of the Salem witch trials, heavy on the horror. Witches, plagues, gruesome rituals, murder, and more as witch Mary Sibley vies for control in her quest to summon Satan.

“Inside No. 9”

Inside No 9

An anthology series by Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith that varies in genre, from horror to drama, but always employs dark humor. When it’s scary, it’s scary. A very original and creative show for genre fans.

Netflix

“The Haunting of Hill House”

Mike Flanagan’s modern reworking of Shirley Jackson’s classic novel brought the heart and horror in equal measure. It’s also the perfect series to revisit again and again- there’s no way you’re going to catch all of the hidden ghosts upon first watch, after all. Plus, a rewatch now seems ideal with The Haunting of Bly Manor on the way.

“Marianne”

When famous horror author Emma is on the verge of ending her most popular novel series, the entity haunting her pages bleeds over into her waking life. A bizarre encounter with a childhood friend prompts her to return home to confront her past. If you’re in the mood for masterful scares, this is it.

“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa brings his comic to life for Netflix, which sees the teen witch trying to navigate both the mortal world and the world of witches. Things get downright Satanic.

“I Am Not Okay with This”

Like most teens, Sydney is struggling with her family life and budding feelings for her best friend. Unlike most teens, she’s also struggling with a new mystery power that leads to catastrophe when she gets too upset. Things get funny, then bloody.

“You”

Joe is a charming bookstore manager in New York City who’s obsessed with the idea of being in love. So much so that he’ll go to devastating lengths to win over the latest object of his desire. Including murder. Lots of creepy, unnerving murder.

“Santa Clarita Diet”

This delightful and gory comedy was canceled far too soon. At least there’s still three wonderful seasons to revisit. Sheila and Joel are married real estate agents in Santa Clarita, California. When Sheila dies, their lives take a dark turn. Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant are delightful in their roles, and the blood flows freely.

“Ash vs. Evil Dead”

Ash reluctantly picks up the chainsaw once more to save the world from a Deadite plague. Never mind that he actually started it. This time he has help in the form of the Ghost Beaters, and the Evil Dead universe gets expanded like never before.

“Kingdom”

In this period thriller, a Korean prince is sent out on a mission to investigate an outbreak that threatens his kingdom. That outbreak, of course, is zombies. Season two just dropped.

“Mindhunter”

For the true crime junkies. Set in the late 1970s, two FBI agents are tasked with interviewing serial killers to solve open cases.

“Stranger Things”

Sci-fi horror meets ‘80s nostalgia in this mega-popular series. When a young boy disappears, his mother, a police chief and his friends must confront terrifying supernatural forces in order to get him back.

“Penny Dreadful”

An original series set in Victorian London that weaves together characters from popular classic and Gothic fiction, like Dorian Grey, Victor Frankenstein, and Dracula. Well cast and brilliantly executed, Eva Green stole the show in this series. And it’s perfect to revisit ahead of the upcoming spinoff, “City of Angels.”

“Supernatural”

Two brothers follow their father’s footsteps as hunters, road tripping across the country to fight evil supernatural beings of all varieties. Now in its final season, now’s a perfect time to get caught up.

“Ghoul”

In a totalitarian near-future India, a mysterious prisoner is sent to a remote military interrogation center where he turns the tables on his captors by exposing their most shameful secrets and unleashing a demon from Arabic folklore. If you’re looking for a series that requires little to no commitment, Ghoul is only three episodes long.

“From Dusk Till Dawn”

Created by Robert Rodriguez, this series expands upon the events of the original film, beginning with the Gecko brothers’ bank heist that leads to their fateful encounter with the supernatural at the vampire-inhabited strip club in Mexico.

“Locke & Key”

After their father is murdered, the three Locke siblings and their mother move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, which they discover is full of magical keys that may be connected to their father’s death. Based on the popular comic series, this Netflix show is gearing up for a second season.

Prime Video

“Hannibal”

Before the events of Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon, Hannibal Lecter was a renowned psychiatrist in the employ of the FBI. This prequel series by Bryan Fuller explores Lecter’s relationship with young FBI criminal profiler Will Graham, who is haunted by his ability to empathize with serial killers. Grisly and clever, it’s a must-see horror show.

“The Boys”

Based on Garth Ennis’s comic book series, “The Boys” shows the darker side of superheroes. Much, much darker. To the public, superhero team “The Seven” are godlike celebrities. Behind the scenes, though, they’re narcissists that abuse their power. The Boys are the vigilantes that aim to keep them in check. Gore and violence ensue.

“Dark Shadows: The Revival”

Created by Dan Curtis, this 1991 Gothic soap opera streamlined the original story. Victoria Winters comes to Collinwood to work as a governess, but soon finds herself drawn into a strange world of vampires, ghosts and curses. Ben Cross assumes the role of vampire Barnabas Collins and Joanna Going plays Victoria Winters. Look for a young Joseph Gordon-Levitt as one of the Collins children.

“Grimm”

All six seasons are available to binge. Inspired by Grimm’s Fairy Tales, detective Nick Burkhardt discovers he’s a descendant of “Grimm” hunters charged with preserving the balance between humans and supernatural creatures of the world.

“Hammer House of Horror”

Hammer Horror’s anthology series told tales of haunted houses, demons, ghosts, and other supernatural wonders. There are a lot of great gems in this 13-episode run, including “The House That Bled to Death.”

Shudder

“The Dead Lands”

In ancient Maori times, an undead warrior and a young tribeswoman team up to find a way to stop the evil dead from rising. A unique genre series by Glenn Standring, based on his 2014 movie of the same name.

“Creepshow”

The Creep is back once more, this time in anthology series form for Shudder. Showrunner Greg Nicotero assembles a Murderers’ Row of horror talent, and an insane amount of Easter eggs for the Creepshow fan.

“Cursed Films”

Jay Cheel’s five-part documentary series examines the myths and legends behind some of Hollywood’s notoriously cursed horror film productions. The Exorcist is available now. Look for the next two episodes to drop on April 9.

“Channel Zero”

Nick Antosca’s anthology series centered each season on a specific Creepypasta. It was canceled far too soon, but at least we can binge Candle Cove, The No-End House, Butcher’s Block, and The Dream Door on Shudder now.

“The Core”

Mickey Keating hosts this horror talk show that examines and dissects the horror genre, from techniques and tropes to psychology. Look for breakdowns of special effects and insights from guests.

“Wolf Creek”

Greg McLean continues the murderous exploits of Mick Taylor in series form. In season one, American teenager Eve barely escapes from Taylor when he slaughters her family. Left for dead, Eve sets off on a quest for revenge. Season two, which arrives on April 30th, revolves around a new set of characters for Taylor to torture.

Tubi

“Dark Shadows”

For the ambitious overachiever, all 1,245 episodes of Dan Curtis’s original Gothic soap opera are available for your viewing pleasure. You can even break it down in chunks according to your favorite storylines. Vampire Barnabas Collins, for example, doesn’t even enter the series until episode 211.

“Masters of Horror”

Creator Mick Garris assembled the foremost names in the horror film genre, including John Carpenter, Dario Argento and Takashi Miike, to unleash hour-long horror films for “Masters of Horror.” Both seasons are available, including the infamously banned episode “Imprint.”

AMC shared dozens of photos from the first episode in the fourth and final season of “Preacher“, which looks to take the original comic series and shake it up into Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s own twisted interpretation of the end of the world.

“As the series inches closer to the finale, God’s endgame for the universe begins to click into place. Trapped between heavenly prophecies, hellish prisons, and all-out nuclear war, Jesse (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga), and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) make their bloody way to the Most High. Whether they can reach God in time — or whether all this carnage is part of His divine plan — will soon be revealed as Preacher barrels towards the end of the world.”

In the premiere episode, visions of the apocalypse plague Jesse as he and Tulip get ready to strike Masada, where Cassidy is trapped, but Grail and Starr are ready for their assault; Jesse tries to find an unusual rock formation; Tulip attempts to rescue Cassidy.

The road to the apocalypse begins on Sunday, August 4th.

AMC dropped a bomb of a trailer with a new look at the fourth and final season of “Preacher“, which looks to take the original comic series and shake it up into Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s own twisted interpretation of the end of the world.

While many of us know how the comic ends, here, there’s a lot more at play with God seemingly working hand-in-hand with Herr Starr. There looks to be footage from the very beginning all the way to the bitter end. I still can’t believe AMC allowed this show to be made and thank God – wherever the hell he is – for allowing it to come to full fruition. The road to the apocalypse begins on Sunday, August 4th.

As I previously wrote, I was extremely worried that AMC would cancel Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s “Preacher” before Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy were able to track down God and make him answer for abandoning his creation. Season 3 ended in a shocker, while also setting the table for what I speculated could be the show’s final season. The forthcoming fourth season will be, in fact, the final and that it will hit the road on August 4th. We are not only blessed to have received this show, but to also be getting a proper finale. Thank God, if they ever find him.

“Preacher” is a dramatic thrill ride that follows West Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) as they embark on a road trip to find God and are thrust into a twisted battle spanning Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

As the series inches closer to the finale, God’s endgame for the universe begins to click into place. Trapped between heavenly prophecies, hellish prisons, and all-out nuclear war, Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy make their bloody way to the Most High. Whether they can reach God in time — or whether all this carnage is part of His divine plan — will soon be revealed as “Preacher” barrels towards the end of the world.

As previously mentioned, Jesse Custer’s quest for God takes him back to the place he’s been avoiding his whole life: home. Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy return to Angelville, the Louisiana Plantation where Jesse was raised, and find old grudges and deadly obligations await them. With the help of his friends — and a few enemies — Jesse will need to escape his past… because the future of the world depends on it.

Here’s new art and the first teasers ahead of the late summer premiere.

Rogen took to Twitter this afternoon to announce that the forthcoming fourth season will be, in fact, the final and that it will hit the road on August 4th.

In the third season, Jesse Custer’s quest for God takes him back to the place he’s been avoiding his whole life: home. Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy return to Angelville, the Louisiana Plantation where Jesse was raised, and find old grudges and deadly obligations await them. With the help of his friends — and a few enemies — Jesse will need to escape his past… because the future of the world depends on it.

I was extremely worried that AMC would cancel Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s “Preacher” before Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy find God, but Production Weekly is reporting that shooting is set to begin on the fourth season this January in Australia. Season 3 ended in a shocker, while also setting the table for what could be the show’s final season. Being that the aforementioned writers/producers changed up the source material so much, we have no clue where they’re heading.

Nobody seems to talk about “Preacher” all that much, even though it’s an adaptation of one of the greatest comic stories ever told. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s new take on the source material is outstanding, although it may be challenging for some viewers. Because of this, I’m actually a bit surprised it hasn’t been canceled, albeit I’m more than thankful it has not. With that said, each and every season is starting to feel like a gift, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that next season may be the last. As we worked our way to last night’s finale, I kept thinking to myself, “What if they don’t wrap everything up and the show gets canceled?” Well, after asking myself why God has abandoned us, I’d probably throw myself in front of a bus. After three seasons and the promise of a reconciliation with God, AMC has to allow Rogen and Goldberg to wrap everything up, right? Let’s pretend we’re, at the very least, getting a fourth season…

Last night was fucking crazy. Spoiler warning. Rogen and Goldberg have recalibrated the source material to deliver a shocker that would be upsetting if the series weren’t delivered as a tongue-in-cheek comedy. You see, in the original series by Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon, Satan has a brief appearance. He’s responsible for The Saint of Killers’ unstoppable Walker Colt revolvers that “will kill anything, never miss their target, never leave his possession, and never run out of bullets.” (Wiki) After a brief exchange, the Saint kills Satan and leaves Hell unmanned. Things happen quite differently in AMC’s live-action series, with this story being drawn out and Satan (played by Jason Douglas) having a lengthy arc. He’s also a device used to end Season 3 with a bang, and deliver a shocker of a finale people should be talking about. You see, Graham McTavish‘s Saint does eventually put a bullet between the eyes of the Lord of Darkness, but there’s a punchline that acts as major foreshadowing to the series. Instead of leaving Hell without a ruler, Adolf Hitler (Noah Taylor) sits on the throne. Jesus Christ, indeed.

Where are Rogen and Goldberg going with all of this? Those who are well acquainted with the comics know that the duo are foreshadowing the series finale, in which Jesse (Dominic Cooper) and the Saint of Killers come face-to-face with God (Mark Harelik) himself.  The Season 3 finale sets the stage for the beginning of the end, and alludes to the surprise reveal that the Saint wants to work with Jesse to find God. Upon the two striking an unlikely alliance, they will collude on a grand finale that will shock everyone (well, except for us superfans). Still, what’s great about Rogen and Goldberg’s interpretation is that it’s way different in many aspects of the story arcs, which means they may have some different tricks up their sleeves.

No matter, it feels like this trip to heaven, hell, and everywhere in between is about to reach its destination.

Last night’s “Preacher” ended with a bang, with Allfather D’Aronique (Jonny Coyne) literally exploding when Jesse (Dominic Cooper) releases Genesis into him. After battling through buckets of blood and entrails (above) with Herr Starr (Pip Torrens), Jesse finally becomes one with Genesis and is continuing on his mission to find God and make him answer for abanding mankind. On the other hand, Starr is left with a penis for a head.

AMC previews this coming Sunday’s Season 3 finale, “The Light Above”, in which Jesse returns home for what he hopes is the last time but angers Starr (again) and endangers Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) in the process. The coolest setup up is that Tulip (Ruth Nega) looks to battle through hell, Hitler and Nazis.

Mondo has revealed today that they’ve made statues based on two of the most popular characters in AMC’s “Preacher”, from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The polystone statues are of Jesse Custer (10″ tall) and the vampire Cassidy (12″ tall), played by Dominic Cooper and Ian Colletti respectively. I hope they made a second series because we definitely need Tulip (Ruth Nega) and the Saint of Killers to round everything out.

“As a fan of the comic it’s based on, AMC’s “Preacher” series has been a joy to watch, both in how it sticks to the original story and how it diverts,” said Brock Otterbacher, Mondo Creative Director Toys & Collectibles. “Riding along with Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy on their strange journey week-to-week, and meeting all the ludicrous characters they come across inspired us to take a slightly unorthodox approach to our statue line.

“Starting with Jesse and Cassidy, we asked one of our favorite poster artists – Rory Kurtz – to create illustrated pieces that capture the essence of the characters,” he added. “With an emphasis on more quiet moments, Rory also showed the characters in heavy contrasting light. This was essential for the next phase, which was creating statues (sculpted by Mathew Black and painted by Mara Ancheta) that not only looked like Rory’s paintings in pose but were painted as if each of them were followed by their own personal light source – Jesse and the illuminating sun and Cassidy with a seedy neon glow.”

Cassidy Statue

Polystone Statue, Approx. 12″ in height

This review is based on the first three episodes from ‘Preacher’s ten-episode third season.

‘Preacher’s back, baby! The series takes its time to get rolling this year, but the work put into the show’s characters primes it to be their strongest year yet!

“Welcome home, Jesse…”

AMC’s Preacher has turned into one of the more interesting vehicles on television. Many people were skeptical that Garth Ennis’ aggressive comic series could be done justice as a television show. Now, three seasons in, the television adaptation has proven that it’s even weirder and more fearless than Ennis’ source material. At the same time, Preacher has no interest in pleasing the hardcore fans or to become accessible for the Preacher virgins. This is a show that is completely unapologetic and is only interested in pleasing itself. Better strap in and brace yourself for the crazy ride. Preacher’s first season was painfully slow for some viewers and then the show’s second season was too bonkers and insane for other people. There are many different “versions” of Preacher, but the show’s third season feels very much like a mix of the first two seasons’ sensibilities, but with a hearty dose of horror thrown in for good measure, too.

The show’s third season premiere, “Angelville,” spends most of its time on the revival of Tulip and the cost involved with bringing her back (surprise, she doesn’t remain dead, you guys). Tulip’s always occupied an interesting role within this show, but it becomes even more layered this season when she becomes specially tasked with a particular job from someone important.

Furthermore, an aspect of the show that’s always been bubbling under the surface, the love triangle between Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy, only intensifies this season. Cassidy becomes more dead set on his love for Tulip and it’s fascinating to see this trio remain together, but each of them for different, self-involved reasons.

Around all of the hearty character development, there’s also the pulse of a new apocalypse that’s brewing. This pivotal event seems to depend on Jesse’s ability to reclaim his soul and matters become especially dire when God announces some sort of contingency plan that he’s got in place. That being said, the larger end of the world machinations stay in the background while the focus is very much more on Jesse’s familial relations and the metaphorical hell he’s found himself in before the world falls into actual hell.

That metaphorical hell is Jesse’s home of Angelville, which should come as no surprise if you were paying attention towards the end of last season or have seen a second of promotional materials for this season. Jesse’s family and their history in Angelville are very much the focus, at least for the first chunk of the season and it makes for a refreshing, if not flawed, change of pace.

Preacher 2

In the past, Jesse’s expressed severe trepidation over returning home and although there have been tastes of this through flashbacks, it’s now satisfying to marinate in that dread. Gran’ma Marie, Jodie, and T.C. are all deliciously awful individuals and it’s painful to watch Jesse have to spend a single minute with them. Naturally, as Jesse begins to feel more at home and regress into old ways, Tulip and Cassidy start to worry over Jesse’s state of mind and how much he may be regressing. It plays a lot like Legion’s incredible second season where the heroes legitimately don’t know if their leader is good or bad anymore and even the leader begins to lose sight of where they stand. It makes for a compelling narrative and pushes Jesse to his most challenging territory yet. Every new dreadful secret about Angelville that gets revealed is terrible in a whole new way.

The addition of Angelville and Gran’ma Marie also bring voodoo magic into the series in a big way. This isn’t that ridiculous of an idea when stuff like soul stealing happens on the regular and God dresses up like a dog. That being said, this voodoo is played for horror rather than laughs and it leads to some particularly terrifying scenes that hint at a formidable new villain. For those that are fans of the comics, there’s a lot to look forward to here, but it’s also exciting to see the series veer off of the source material in creative ways and also find excuses to go even deeper with it all. The show presents a particularly creative take on Purgatory that acts as a strong reminder of just how unique this show is.

The beginning of this season takes its time and slows down in Angelville to make this detour feel significant. Accordingly, there’s a tunnel vision of sorts on the show’s main trio while other characters like Arseface or Saint of All Killers are absent for the first stretch of the season. This hurts the season to some degree, but the audience is allowed no escape from Angelville, just like Jesse and company. Surely these supporting characters will play a large role in the back-end of the season.

Preacher’s third season doesn’t begin with a bang, but it does double down on the characters and relationships that make this show work. There’s a large game in play here that’s ready to test all of these characters more than they ever have before. This season may turn to a few familiar plot devices, but the beginning makes for a strong start to what’s already a very emotional season. Hopefully, everyone will still be left standing before the year is through.

And remember guys, don’t eat the swamp consommé.

While several new characters have already been revealed, this newest featurette also touches on Jesse’s family in Angelville that includes Betty Buckley as “Gran’ma” and Jeremy Childs as “Jody”.

Gran’ma is spiritist with true powers, who can cast spells and even bring back the dead (for a price). Pay the fee or pay with your soul to feed Gran’ma’s thirst for eternal youth. She is weathered, tough, and mean, but also intelligent beyond measure. She’s Jesse’s only living family and she loves him.

Jody is massive and intimidating, Jody emanates danger. He’s the enforcer for Gran’ma and the only man Jesse’s never beaten in a fight. He’s nobody’s fool, and not someone to cross.

He is quietly sinister with eyes that see more than he says.

Here are the other new additions:

Betty Buckley joined the cast as “Gran’ma” – A spiritist with true powers, who can cast spells and even bring back the dead (for a price). Pay the fee or pay with your soul to feed Gran’ma’s thirst for eternal youth. She is weathered, tough, and mean, but also intelligent beyond measure. She’s Jesse’s only living family and she loves him.

Colin Cunningham joins the cast as “TC” – A man born of the bayou and the loyal caretaker and soldier for Gran’ma. Weasely and wiry, he’ll gladly tell you about his perversions whether you ask him or not. While he seems like the friendliest guy you’ll ever meet, don’t make the mistake of turning your back on him.

Jeremy Childs joins the cast as “Jody” – Massive and intimidating, Jody emanates danger. He’s the enforcer for Gran’ma and the only man Jesse’s never beaten in a fight. He’s nobody’s fool, and not someone to cross.

Liz McGeever joins the cast as “Christina” – Capable and efficient, Christina has a face that lures customers in for her family business. Christina hides it well, but she hates her job and has dreams and aspirations outside of her current life – but suffers to protect her child.

In Season 2, “After Jesse accidentally discovered that God is absent from Heaven, Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy set out on a road trip to find Him, all while being hunted by the Saint of Killers, an unstoppable, mythical killer from Hell. The trio’s pursuit led them to New Orleans, where they dodged local gangsters, dangerous agents, and other unimaginable mayhem on their way to uncovering an even bigger secret. Now, with Tulip’s life and Cassidy’s friendship in the balance, Jesse must rely on a mysterious figure from his past in order to save his friends and continue on with his mission.”

AMC’s outrageous drama “Preacher“ returns for 10 episodes on Sunday, June 24 at 10:00 PM ET/PT.

“Preacher,” is a dramatic thrill ride that follows West Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) as they embark on a road trip to find God and are thrust into a twisted battle spanning Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

Collider shared three new images from the new season in which Jesse Custer’s quest for God takes him back to the place he’s been avoiding his whole life: home. Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy return to Angelville, the Louisiana Plantation where Jesse was raised, and find old grudges and deadly obligations await them. With the help of his friends — and a few enemies — Jesse will need to escape his past… because the future of the world depends on it.

The season plans to introduce Betty Buckley as Jesse’s wicked “Gran’ma” and Jonny Coyne as Allfather D’Aronique. They also added Adam Croasdell as Eccarius, a 350-year-old vampire who bears wisdom and has an air of aristocracy.

These new photos show us Jeremy Childs as Jody, who is described as massive and intimidating. “Jody emanates danger. He’s the enforcer for Gran’ma (Buckley) and the only man Jesse’s never beaten in a fight. He’s nobody’s fool, and not someone to cross.”

According to the Preacher wiki, “Massively muscled, [Jody] can send a man flying with one punch, and he has an incredible tolerance for pain and injury, being able to take a nailed plank of wood to the face without wincing, and able to remain foul-mouthed, and direct whilst on fire.”

Now, they’re adding another neck-biter ot the cast, pinning Adam Croasdell (pictured in Reign) as Eccarius, a 350-year-old vampire who bears wisdom and has an air of aristocracy. He is regal, charming, and styles himself after the more romantic, Gothic images of vampires. He appears to be a cliché at first but a much darker character lurks beneath the surface.

Prema Cruz (Mozart in the Jungle) is also recurring as Madame Boyd, a tough forward thinker. Educated and attractive, she is taking the family business into the modern age.

*Keep up with our ongoing end of the year coverage here*

As 2017 comes to a close, we break down the very best monsters from the year’s film, television, video games, or wherever!

2017 has been a phenomenal year for not only horror, but also sorts of genre content. Whether television, film, video games, or even comics, the year has been full of new and exciting tributes to the supernatural. While there have never been more options for people to check it, it’s sometimes easy to get overwhelmed or completely miss a great program because there’s too much out there. In lieu of this, we’ve culled the many different forms of 2017’s media and put together a list of the very best monsters that came forward this year. Whether they were in a huge blockbuster film or a niche comic, here are the creatures that gave us the most joy in 2017.

The Mind Flayer – Stranger Things

The arrival of the second season of Stranger Things was one of the most anticipated television events of 2017. Miraculously, the series continues to rise to the occasion and somehow tops the magic that it created back in its debut season (which is high praise). If the show’s first year introduces the audience and the residents of Hawkins, Indiana to “The Upside Down,” then season two spends time with the Big Bad of the shadow world.

The Mind Flayer is all sorts of terrifying and it’s the sort of creation that would even make Lovecraft shudder. If the Mind Flayer’s disturbing appearance wasn’t enough, the way that it’s able to take over people’s bodies is even more upsetting. The sequence where the Mind Flayer “invades” Will is one of the most frightening from the show’s second season and also develops the powerful hive mind capabilities of the dark Mind Flayer. The most disturbing thing here is that it looks like the show is far from down with this beast and that he’ll back with a vengeance in season three.

The “Cannibals” – Channel Zero: No-End House

The Father Cannibal

Channel Zero is the best anthology show that you’re not watching. Much like with American Horror Story, each new season tells an entirely new story, but unlike American Horor Story, Channel Zero sticks the landing and is consistently creepy throughout its entire season. The show’s second year deals with an elaborate, “living haunted house” that keeps a group of friends hostage.

Channel Zero finds a lot of different ways to be creative and in No-End House the monsters take the form of loved ones and familiar faces. These creatures that populate the fake mirror neighborhood of No-End House are known as cannibals and they survive by eating memories. It’s a thoroughly disturbing visual and the cannibals’ “memory food” has this weird pomegranate-esque quality. It’s all unique as well as a brilliant new take on how danger can hide in plain sight and the way that someone’s memories aren’t always reliable. Even without these creepy monsters, Channel Zero should be mandatory viewing for horror nuts.

Pennywise – IT

You guys ever hear of this one? Sure, IT hit super status this year and became one of the most popular films of 2017, something that’s a tremendous feat for a horror film. So while it may not be original to throw some more praise in the way of IT and Bill Skarsgård’s uncanny portrayal of the nighmare “clown,” there’s a reason that the film was so successful. It’s goddamn terrific.

What’s so fantastic about Skarsgård’s performance as Pennywise is how unpredictable he is. He’s not trying to be scary so much as he just wants to seem like he’s fun. It feels more like the Genie from Aladdin than it does one of the titans of horror, like Freddy Krueger or Michael Myers. It’s all of these specific details that make this portrayal of Pennywise so memorable and there’s no doubt that Skarsgård will only bring more to the table in Part 2.

“Calvin” – Life

Life Alien

Life is the hard-boiled sci-fi horror mash-up that Alien: Covenant should have been. Life works so well because it’s full of smart characters that in spite of doing the right thing in each situation they still are outsmarted by the growing alien organism. On that note, the ways in which “Calvin” evolves are alarming and glorious and they inject a real sense of danger into what’s going on. This alien is also just straight up brutal. He does not like people and it’s jarring to watch this cast of A-Listers get murdered.

Fun fact: There’s an unofficial fan theory that’s popular on the Internet that Calvin, the alien in question here, is actually the Venom symbiote from the Spider-Man series. While this is most certainly not true, there’s nothing to directly dispel this theory and the film is certainly a lot of fun if you imagine it as a weird puzzle piece of the Spider-Man universe.

The Werepony – Stan Against Evil

Stan Against Evil Werepony

No one’s going to hold anything against you if you don’t watch Stan Against Evil. “Name Pun Titles” are the worst and they’re always a hurdle to get past. That being said, while Stan Against Evil isn’t perfect, it’s a pretty glowing love letter to horror cinema. It’s the perfect series to watch between new episodes of Ash Vs. The Evil Dead and John C. McGinley always delivers gold.

The best episode from the show’s latest season is “Curse of the Werepony,” which sees the series take on the typical werewolf transformation story. The show subverts this in the best way possible by having the afflicted victim turn into a pony instead of a wolf and for whatever reason it’s just so damn funny. Once you see a man go all American Werewolf in London and turn into a pony, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Marcus – Ouija: Origin of Evil

Marcus Origin of Evil

This one is a series shock, but it’s a testament to how with horror, what’s important is the director and not necessarily the story. The original Ouija film is nothing to get excited about and it’s the generic sort of PG-13 mass-produced horror that comes and goes. However, the film’s sequel takes a different approach and tells a whole new Ouijia-based story and brings on the always-amazing Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Gerald’s Game), who directs the hell out of this film.

The big threat in Origin of Evil is the spirit Marcus, who the film’s family summons. Marcus was an immigrant during World War II and experimented on by a twisted doctor that gives him a powerful, frightening rage. Every set piece in this film is frightening stuff but the way in which Marcus possesses and frightens the young girls in this film hits especially hard. This is one evil spirit that doesn’t hold back.

The Kaiju Monster – Colossal

Colossal Kaiju

Nacho Vigalondo is a madman genius and even his worst films deserve to be seen. Colossal is not perfect, but it’s an incredibly original, exciting premise for a film. Basically, whenever Anne Hathaway’s Gloria stands in a playground at 8:05 AM, a giant kaiju monster (think Godzilla) appears in Seoul. Gloria’s actions become the monster’s actions and as she flails around the playground, the monster wreaks havoc in Seoul.

The plot considerably thickens when Jason Sudeikis’ character causes a similar effect (but with a giant robot) when he enters the playground. The kaiju monster and the giant robot are the real dangers in this film, but Jason Sudekis also plays the slimiest asshole in this film and it’s great to see him excel as a bad guy. What follows is truly unlike anything else and it’s a story that’s all about addiction in the end, too. Vigalondo’s take on a giant kaiju looks great and is a true highlight of the year.

Mr. World – American Gods

American Gods Mr World

Crispin Glover. That is all.

Seriously though, simply Glover’s name and this bonkers character design is really all you need to know that this is worth your time. On that note, anything that Bryan Fuller does is worth your time and it’s probably time to binge through Hannibal again if you recently haven’t. Fuller’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods is a homerun on all fronts and he not only brings some impossible visuals to life in this television show, but he also manages to elevate Gaiman’s source material, too.

Admittedly, Glover’s Mr. World is seen very sparingly throughout the first season of American Gods, but his appearance is so distinct that it’s impossible not to mention. In all honestly, Yetide Badaki’s Sex God, Bilquis, is probably the more fitting entry here. Take your pick, both of these “monsters” are super powerful and will take away your life in ways that you didn’t think were possible.

“Nicole” – The Exorcist

Exorcist Nicole

The Exorcist continues to quietly kick ass in its second season, but still manages to be one of the most satisfying horror programs on television. The show’s second season has had some serious fun as it plays around with both the audience and the characters’ perception of what’s real. This angle does the show a lot of favors, but there’s also a genuinely disturbing demon that’s present this year. The Exorcist’s first season dove into the film’s infamous Pazuzu, but this year introduces “Nicole” who’s the very worst kind of threat. She’s described as a demon that targets weak families who have lost children and are susceptible to grief. The demon attacks during these moments and takes advantage of the parents’ vulnerabilities. The full damage of this spirit has yet to be seen, but at this point it’s already messed with people’s minds and presented enough visceral visuals to earn a spot as one of the year’s best.

Jack Baker – Resident Evil 7

Jack Baker Resident Evil 7

Resident Evil 7 was the return to form that the series desperately needed. The past few entries in the franchise had burned up the audience’s good will and a change was demanded. What follows is Resident Evil doing its best Texas Chain Saw Massacre impression with the game’s Baker family acting as the de facto hillbilly psychopaths.

Resident Evil 7 slows things down and really lets gamers get lost in the horrors of the Baker family. The most tragic story amongst the clan is probably what happens to Jack Baker. Every time he appears he’s more of a twisted shell of his former self and it’s a lot take in. Straight up monsters from previous games like Lickers or Regenerators might still be more frightening overall, but Jack Baker is still very much the stuff of nightmares.

“The Beast” – Split

There’s so much to love about Split and James McAvoy truly throws everything into his layered performances of 23 personalities that are all “trapped” within one body. Just watching McAvoy navigate through the tightrope walk of a performance of all of these different “people” is a sight to behold. Split does the smart thing by having these many voices continually tease one ultimate evil personality that’s hiding at the end of the tunnel. This effectively creates suspense through the film and when “The Beast” finally gets unleashed, man oh man, things get crazy. McAvoy’s character essentially turns into an animal at this point. He’s capable of bending steel and operates with almost a spider-like quality to his movements. It’s an incredible performance, which will surely only become deeper with the next chapter in the story, Glass.

The Saint of All Killers – Preacher

Look, the Saint of All Killers is too much for some people, but he’s a character that’s all about excess. He’s designed to be an invincible monolith of a threat. The first season of Preacher allows the character to fire his guns a bunch and prove what a spooky motherfucker he is, but the second season doubles down on the character. Audiences learn a whole lot more from the character’s past and he goes through a number of trials this year that are maybe even more impressive than what Jesse Custer has to get done. This year simultaneously made the Saint of All Killers more terrifying and more empathetic, which is pretty damn impressive.

The Chucky Brigade – The Cult of Chucky

Cult of Chucky Chucky Brigade

The Child’s Play franchise has an insane amount of resilience and versatility. While other series come and die, the Chucky films continue to plus along. The series has experimented around a little with shifting the films’ priority from horror to comedy, but the latest installment, The Cult of Chucky, pleasantly embraces its horror roots. There’s not a whole lot to Cult of Chucky, but it wisely combines the killer doll idea with the mental institution trope and it finds real success. Chucky terrorizing an insane asylum is a delight, but the series also ups its game when it brings multiple Chuckys into the mix. Each of these Good Guy dolls has a different quirk to help distinguish them from each other, but they’re all equally murderous. The Chucky films have done a lot of scary things, but somehow it’s taken them this long to multiply the little guy and allow him to multi-task his murders.

Worldender – Rick and Morty

Worldender Rick and Morty

The way that the Rick and Morty writing staff describe Worldender is basically the perfect distillation of the character:

“If you think Thanos fucked Darkseid and, like, had a baby, and that baby then fucked some other giant creature monster, that’s Worldender”

He’s Thanos to the extreme, got it?

It’s a lot of fun to see Rick and Morty take on the Avengers and Justice League with their analogous Vindicators group. The show paints a real image of the genocidal horrors of Worldender (and even if it didn’t, his name is a big giveaway to what his whole deal is), but the character itself is barely present in the episode. So while Worldender is the official monster entry, the fellow Vindicators of Million Ants, Alan Rails, and Crocubot all deserve honorable mentions and make more of an actual impact in the entry.

Korg – Thor: Ragnarok

Who said that all of these monsters had to be scary? Thor: Ragnarok’s break-out character, Korg, is as laissez-faire as they come, but he’s still a sufficiently awesome character that deserves some attention. Korg might simply be around to help raise morale and stoically pontificate on the nature of existence, but he’s also the most memorable rock monster to come around in recent years. And if Korg really needed to frighten someone, the rough guys is probably capable of turning up the aggression.

And just for a little fun, here is what we considered to be the worst monster of 2017.

It’s a Tie: The Taheen – The Dark Tower and Mr. Hyde – The Mummy

Russel Crowe Dr Jekyll

Goodness gracious. It’s a little bonkers that in the same year some of the best Stephen King adaptations of all time were released, as well as one of the absolute worst. What’s even more crushing is that the culprit happens to be one of King’s most glorious texts, his Dark Tower series. There are too many things wrong with The Dark Tower movie to get into here, but the biggest what the fuck moment is in the form of Mid-World’s Taheen demons. These are likely the equivalent to the “low men” from the novels. The portrayal of these demons, who hide under human skin—complete with zippers—is outright laughable and the film never recovers from this point. It’s utterly confusing why this take is taken with these characters, but it’s one that just looks sloppy and doesn’t work.

Speaking of things that don’t work, remember that whole “Dark Universe” thing that was supposed to happen? This plan for a connected universe of Universal Monsters seems like a crazy fever dream now and a lot of that has to do with the big mistakes made in The Mummy. Tom Cruise’s take on gaining “mummy powers” is something else, but good Lord, Russell Crowe is also in this as Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde and it’s the worst thing. This guy mumbles through scenes and reduces this classic character to surly stereotypes. It’s such a disaster and one of the biggest misfires of the year.

Show co-creator Seth Rogen just tweeted out the best news for us fans of “Preacher”, announcing that AMC has officially renewed the show for a third season.

The series has not followed the excellent comic book series created by Garth Ennis and instead has carved its own path. In doing so, Rogen and Evan Goldberg have created new mysteries and mythology behind some of the coolest characters ever created.

The show follows Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a small-town preacher with a criminal past, who realizes God is absent from Heaven, and sets out to find Him. Along for the ride are Tulip (Ruth Negga), Jesse’s volatile true love, and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), an 119-year-old Irish vampire and Jesse’s best mate. In Season 2, the gang ends up in New Orleans, where they must dodge local gangsters, dangerous secret agents in white suits, and the Saint of Killers, an unstoppable killer cowboy from Hell.

The expanded second season, consisting of 13 episodes, also introduced comic fav, Herr Starr, and set the stage for the potential reveal of God himself in Season 3. There’s still a lot of comic ground to cover, especially all of our characters’ backstories. Rogen and Goldberg have teased that we’ll learn about Jesse’s past in Season 3, which is about as dark as it gets. I can’t friggin’ wait, cowboy.

AMC’s “Preacher” is setting the stage for the Season 2 finale as Jesse (Dominic Cooper) and Herr Starr (Pip Torrens) begin their quest to anoint Jesse as the new messiah. While last night’s episode said farewell to the Saint of Killers, for now, it became increasingly clear that “Preacher” is actually his story. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have the hardest of tasks in writing the character in and out of each season knowing that he’s one of the most important pieces to the puzzle. For now, he’s back in Hell but seeking out Satan. His return is imminent. In the meantime, Jesse and Starr begin their world tour to introduce the world to their new God. Here’s a sneak peak that unfolds at Herr Starr’s request, Jesse prepares to show some school children a miracle. Check out some first look images as well.

Airing September 4, 2017, AMC’s next episode of “Preacher” is setting the stage for the Season 2 finale.

In ‘On Your Knees’, Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy hit a bump in the road and decide to leave New Orleans, while an old foe resurfaces and causes a change of plans. The old foe appears to be the Saint of Killers, who has been released from his cage. Meanwhile, Herr Starr is working to convince Jesse to become the new God after theirs abandoned them.

Here are some shots from next week’s episode to go along with the promo and sneak peek:

I haven’t been paying much attention to the ratings behind AMC’s “Preacher”, but I personally love the show and am fully strapped in for the long haul. With the second season coming to a close, I’ve been on pins and needles awaiting word on a potential third. Thankfully, there are signs that AMC will give the blessing for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to continue Jesse Custer’s journey to find God.

“Producers of the reliably unpredictable AMC series have filed paperwork to shoot its third season in the Crescent City as well, says New Orleans Television. “It’s the first signal that AMC has green-lit the series for a third time around. The filing with the Louisiana film office shows pre-production on Season 3 is slated to start in early November. Principal photography would begin Jan. 5, 2018.”

The second season is coming to a close as the Saint of Killers has been let loose, while Herr Starr is working to convince Jesse to take the throne as the new God. It’s unclear how they’re planning to wrap up the second season or what direction they’ll take the third, but there are hints of diving deep into Jesse’s past. There’s a rich mythology for them to mine for another few seasons…

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have just delivered one of the best episodes of “Preacher” yet but with a sacrifice. The entire first season was a secret prequel and showed that the duo would be taking their sweet time unrolling the mythology behind everything. The series deviates from the comics quite a bit, yet still uses them as a reference point. Last night’s episode was information dump, a riveting one at that. It felt like it skipped several turns and jumped into one of the biggest comic reveals – SPOILER – that The Grail, and Herr Starr, are harboring the Messiah. Had I not been privy to the original comics, the introduction of the Messiah – or should I say Humperdido, would have been jolting. You see, centuries of inbreeding have caused Humperdido to be, well, an unlikely ruler to the world. Even Starr is unconvinced and has turned his attention to Jesse, hoping to sway him into taking over the world with him.

Watching good and evil converse and work together for an entire episode made for some hypnotizing television, and it only got better watching Tulip break down. It was an emotional hour that’s really set the stage for the final three episodes. With that, here’s not only a sneak peek clip from Episode 11, ‘Backdoors’, but also a trailer. In the episode, the mission begins to alienate Tulip and Cassidy; Tulip receives advice about her relationship with Jesse; Cassidy begins to doubt Denis. The “best friends club” is on the brink of exploding…

After last week’s lull, AMC’s “Preacher” delivered one of the season’s best episodes. Last night, Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy barely survive an attack by The Grail. The entire episode was engulfed in a metaphor about men controlling women as Jesse continues to use “the word” to tell Tulip what to do. There’s contention in the circle of trust and it’s starting to cause fissures. Meanwhile, we are treated to a whole lot of Herr Starr who has a revelation about Jesse: he must work with him. This sets the stage for a huge reveal next episode: the Messiah. Any who has read the comic knows what to expect but it’ll be interesting to see how Seth Rogen and Adam Goldberg interpret in their adaptation. With that comes a look at next week’s 10th episode to go along with a sneak peek clip in which Jesse and Herr Starr share a drink…

Herr Starr goes on a date.

Last night’s episode of “Preacher” was the first to disappoint. I’m growing tired of watching Eugene (Arseface) navigate Hell, and the bulk of the episode was spent also showing Jesse in a computer store trying to finds clues on the faux God disc. It was substantially boring and barely moved the needle in regards to new information or progressing the story. Thankfully, next week Herr Starr returns to, ahem, go on a date? Here’s a look ahead at next week’s episode, ‘Puzzle Piece’, to go along with a sneak peek clip.

At long last AMC’s “Preacher” introduced Herr Starr, setting the stage for the new arc in which The Grail come after Jesse Custer. You see, it was revealed that The Grail is harboring a direct descendant from Jesus Christ’s bloodline (those who read the comics know exactly what’s coming) and will do anything to stop false idols from coming into power. Jesse and “the word” are a threat to everything The Grail has been planning… the apocalypse. Yes, we’ve seen a pig fly – anything can happen on “Preacher”.

In next week’s episode, Jesse investigates a clue about God; Tulip makes friends with a new neighbor; and we get a glimpse into Cassidy’s past relationship with Denis. Will Cassidy turn his son into a vampire?

As an added bonus, we also have a sneak peek clip in which Tulip meets the “neighbors” in the apartment next door. Don’t miss the next episode of Preacher, Monday, August 7 at 9/8c.

This past week’s episode of “Preacher” was a riot as AMC’s second season played God with people’s souls. Jesse (Dominic Cooper) must supply the Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish) with a piece of his soul in order to turn the tables on the seemingly unstoppable killing machine. The episode appears to have ended the Saint of Killers’ story arc, for now, setting the stage for the introduction of the callous and evil Herr Starr (Pip Torrens), who is head of “The Grail”. In this look ahead, we can see that Jesse, Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), and Tulip (Ruth Nega) continue forth in their efforts to find God, all while Starr gets an introduction. When will the two cross paths? Only time will tell. As an added bonus, check out a clip and dozens of imagery from episode 207, ‘Pig’, in which the trio stage a coup to nab a handful of cash from some barflies. It looks like an absolute blast!

Already several episodes in, storylines are about to cross, and we’re about to be introduced to one of the comic’s big bads: Herr Starr (Pip Torrens), head of “The Grail”. The special San Diego Comic-Con trailer gives us our first taste at Starr, who is basically a complete badass. He’s trying to recruit Jesse, meanwhile, Eugene (Arseface) and Hitler are attempting to escape Hell and the Saint of Killers stops for a drink before coming face-to-face with Tulip.

It’s time to binge this weekend and catch up…

This past Monday’s episode of “Preacher” was another doozy, although this one focused on Jesse (Dominic Cooper) and Tulip’s (Ruth Nega) past relationship. Why did they break up? Why did she end up marrying a mobster? The flashbacks echo the earlier episodes in which we see glimpses of Hell, only Jesse and Tulip are experiencing Hell on Earth as they try to get pregnant together after losing their first in a failed robbery. I liked the idea that this was setting the stage for why Jesse is so determined to find God, having experienced his abandonment first hand. However, the show goes in a different direction revealing that Tulip has secretly been taking birth control pills and working with the mob under Jesse’s nose. It’s a huge betrayal that explains Jesse’s rage, although it does end with kisses… until the Saint of Killers shows up.

The images and videos below look ahead to next week’s “Preacher”, episode 206, ‘Sokosha’. In it, the Saint corners the trio; Jesse makes a deal with the killer Cowboy; Jesse races to save Tulip and Cassidy.

In the next episode of AMC’s “Preacher” Jesse (Dominic Cooper) is reunited with Tulip (Ruth Nega) and things are awkward. Last night’s episode ended with a bombshell… Tulip was kidnapped by her husband, which sends Jesse into a tirade. As teased in the promo for next Monday’s Episode 205, ‘Dallas’, Jesse loses his temper and strings Viktor (Paul Ben Victor) up for an ass kicking. The images tease a bit of a backstory and also a reunion with Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun). As for the Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish), I believe he’s about to make an entrance as well after stalking the trio all the way from Las Vegas to New Orleans. As for Eugene and his trip to Hell? We may have to wait another week to reprise his journey…

Not only did the episode end with the shocking revelation that Tulip is married but the Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish) is teased to make a triumphant return. The episode ends with a nod to the indie horror It Follows as we see the Saint of Killers walking across a highway, presumably to New Orleans, where he’ll once again take aim at Jesse and Genesis. Speaking of Genesis, AMC shared a look at next week’s episode with a sneak peek clip that shows Jesse abusing his powers and losing control in a fiery rage. The further “Preacher” deviates from the comics the better it seems to get. What do you think so far?

Frankie Muniz starring as…Frankie Muniz?

Something interesting we stumbled onto while scouring the images from next week’s episode of AMC’s “Preacher” is that it apparently features “Malcolm in the Middle” star Frankie Muniz portraying himself. It’s unclear how he works into the episode but I can only (jokingly) assume it has something to do with Hell.

Speaking of, we also have a ton of new images from the underworld of Arseface (Ian Colletti) having a conversation with Hitler (Noah Taylor), who also has an integral role in the fourth episode of season two.

Meanwhile, Tulip (Ruth Nega) has been captured by Viktor in New Orleans, and he looks to be a sadistic murderer. I wouldn’t want to be in her shoes…

As revealed in a recent interview with THR, the third episode of “Preacher’s” second season sees “Game of Thrones” veteran Noah Taylor stepping into the role of Hitler, who now resides in hell and lives just a few cells down the hall from fellow inmate Eugene (Ian Colletti), who was unwittingly banished to the underworld by Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) back in season one.

What can fans expect? Get this: “We’re not trying to rehabilitate Hitler,” says series showrunner Sam Catlin, “but I will say, by the end of the season, hopefully, people will have a degree of affection for at least our ‘Preacher’ version of Hitler.”

Last night’s episode shared a new origin for “Arseface” (Eugene) who, instead of being a jackass that imitates his idol Kurt Cobain, is now a sympathetic teenager put in a horrible position by a suicidal friend. In Hell, he’s reliving this horrifying moment over and over. Meanwhile, Hitler is about to introduce himself as shown in this sneak peak at next week’s episode, “Viktor”:

And speaking of the episode’s title, Viktor is a character that’s been hunting Tulip (Ruth Nega) and finally captured her in New Orleans. The next episode puts Tulip in front of one of the season’s antagonists who is clearly torturing someone in this teaser clip. “Preacher” has completely deviated from the comic at this point and I couldn’t be happier. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have done a tremendous job of keeping the spirit of Garth Ennis’ comic alive while injecting it with their own venom.

What do you guys think so far?

The second season of “Preacher” opened with a bang, a bang, and a bang. The Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish) blasted off heads and limbs, while Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga), and the Irish vampire, Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), embark on a road trip to find God. Last night AMC quickly aired the second episode, which is easily one of the best in the series. The trio head to Vegas to ask Fiore (Tom Brooke) to call off the hit on their heads in the name of the Saint of Killers.

In next week’s third episode, ‘Damsels’, Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy get a tip that God may be in New Orleans, where they look for God in a jazz club. There’s a clip from the episode that reminds me of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s trip to the kumite in Bloodsport. The trailer has more footage, showing that Arseface is imprisoned in Hell, which is an entirely new spin on the series.

Showrunner Sam Catlin talked a bit about the trip to New Orleans and shifting away from the comics book’s arc in an interview with THR.

“Obviously, or maybe not so obviously to some of the comic book fans, there’s just no way we were going to be able to create a narrative where we were in the south of France in one episode and San Francisco in the next. We had to dig into each one of these places along the way that they stop in and still give the show that epic quality and that sense of even though they may be in New Orleans for an extended stretch, it still has that sense of movement and searching and going into unfamiliar worlds. We really, really stressed in season one that we wanted to ground the show in a familiar and almost archetypal small-town America setting with familiar characters that people could identify with and recognize. Now, with the benefit of being in a place like New Orleans, and the benefit of Jesse actually looking for somebody called God, it’s created so many opportunities for us to just make the world that much more Preacher and that much more perverse and absurd and foreign.”

Herr Starr

While he doesn’t make an appearance until the third episode, a new Season 2 trailer reveals Pip Torrens as the series’ evil Herr Starr, head of “The Grail”. The footage is a wondrous montage of chaos that’s set to erupt over this expanded season. In addition, we’ve added a clip from next Monday’s episode in which Jesse realizes his powers are useless against the Saint of all Killers. That’s not a problem or anything…

Spoiler Warning.

The first season of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s “Preacher” ended with an epic twist for fans of the Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon comic series. As it turned out, the entire season was a prequel to Ennis’ Vertigo books.

The expanded second season, consisting of 13 episodes, follows West Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) as they embark on a road trip to find God.

The first season was all about character development, spending quality time introducing the players in town, and bringing Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy together. In watching the first three episodes of Season 2 it’s become clear that it was a necessity to deliver a prequel before jumping directly into the goods. Rogen and Goldberg have done a tremendous job world building and attempting to fill in any plot holes that riddle the comics.

Much like the debut comic, the Season 2 premiere dives right in, wasting zero time igniting an epic bloodbath. Our three anti-heroes have (finally) hit the road in search of God all while the Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish) is hunting them down in order to retrieve Genesis from Jesse. The opening scene is something right out of Terminator, with the Saint blowing people’s limbs off and their heads open. It’s a massacre that’s orchestrated with the perfect amount of comedic energy from our three heroes who don’t give a damn. Already a trio of badasses, Jesse’s new power has given them otherworldly confidence that results in 100% more badassery.

And while the series’ overall arc is the same – find God and make him answer for abandoning his creation – it’s now clear that Rogen and Goldberg are doing their own thing. Everything about AMC’s adaptation is different, which is pretty cool because it’s leading to extraordinarily interesting places. For example, the second episode focuses solely on Fiore (Tom Brooke), one of two Adephi angels tasked with hunting down Genesis. Being that he hired the Saint of Killers, Jesse hunts him down in Vegas to request he call off the mission. The episode is unique in that its focus is on what it would be like to be an immortal angel with nothing to live for. The result is shocking, hilarious, and heartwarming, making it one of the series’ most standout episodes.

The series not only explores many new locations, including Hell, but it’s really showing the depth of each of the show’s characters. While the second episode takes us into the very newly created world of Fiore, the third gives us Eugene’s (Ian Colletti) heartbreaking backstory of how he became known as Arseface. The biggest moment, however, is the reveal of the season’s new villain, the infamous Herr Starr (Pip Torrens). While he’s merely given a cameo in the third episode, his posse makes an appearance and Jesse is forced to use “the word” on them. The Grail have officially been worked into the series and it couldn’t be more exciting.

The second season of “Preacher” appears to fully deliver on its promise. The motley crew is on a full-blown road trip that’s leaving bloody entrails in their wake (literally). Rogen and Goldberg have hand-crafted a fresh take on the source material that’s as much of a gift to the fans as Ennis’ comics. What’s even better is that because of the changes there’s no way to know what’s up their sleeves, only that they’re going to take the eclectic mix of blood, violence, emotion, and humor to the absolute extreme.

The critically-acclaimed, supernatural series returns with a two-night event, beginning with the season premiere on Sunday, June 25th at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the second episode on Monday, June 26th at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Ahead of this Sunday’s Season 2 premiere, AMC has edited together the entire Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish) origin story from the first season of “Preacher”! Yes, below you’ll find a full-length 30-minute recap of the killing machine’s appearances in “Preacher” that ends with a trip directly into Hell. The icing on the cake is a montage of footage from the forthcoming second season, which looks to finally be pulling directly from Garth Ennis’ hilariously bloody comic.

We’re finally hitting the road in the second season of AMC’s critically-acclaimed, supernatural series “Preacher”, which will return on Sunday, June 25th.

The expanded second season, consisting of 13 episodes, is a genre-bending thrill ride that follows West Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) as they embark on a road trip to find God and are thrust into a twisted battle spanning Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

While I loved the first season, I’m dying for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to get the show on the road in adapting Garth Ennis’ comic series. This footage brings the spirit of the comic books to life as Jesse and Tulip discuss the best strategy for how to find God while Cassidy obsesses over a disturbing fact about the male anatomy. It’s got that Tarantino vibe I always loved in the books and promises that we’re finally going to see the gang hunt God down…

In this additional featurette, the cast (Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga, Joseph Gilgun) and creators (Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg) discuss why being on the road raises the stakes, adds even more mayhem and why Jesse is no longer hampered by the rules.

“Based on the popular cult comic book franchise of the same name, “Preacher” is an absurdly twisted and action-packed thrill ride. When Jesse Custer (Cooper), a small-town preacher with a criminal past, realizes God is absent from Heaven, Jesse sets out to find Him. Along for the ride are Tulip (Negga), Jesse’s volatile true love, and Cassidy (Gilgun), an 119-year-old Irish vampire and Jesse’s best mate. The gang ends up in New Orleans, where they must dodge local gangsters, dangerous secret agents in white suits, and the Saint of Killers, an unstoppable killer cowboy from Hell.”

The first season of AMC’s Preacher, an adaptation of  Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s comic book of the same name, defied all expectations to become one of the best shows to premiere in 2016 (and this is coming from someone who has never even read the comic book)! Rising ratings and a loyal fan base were enough to lead AMC to renew Preacher for a second season. This is awesome considering that Preacher barely scratched the surface in terms of the narrative. I’m pretty stoked to see what it has in store for us for the second season. Seriously guys, WATCH THIS SHOW.

Watch Preacher Season 2 Premiere here now. Don’t miss new episodes, Mondays at 9/8c on AMC.

To celebrate the return of Preacher we’ve decided to look back at the most badass and totally awesome moments and actions committed by the series’s trio of lead characters: Jesse (Dominic Cooper), Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) and Tulip (Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga). Together they proved to be one of the most magnetic and charismatic set of characters seen on TV in quite a while. As it turns out, each of the season’s ten episodes had at least one standout moment for one of our protagonists, so here is a collection of 10 of the most WTF moments from season one of Preacher!

***SPOILERS from Season 1 of Preacher to follow***

Episode 1: Tulip’s Ass-Kicking Introduction

You would think that the pilot episode of a TV series would give the best introduction to its lead character, but Preacher opts out of that cliché. The best moment from the pilot is actually Tulip’s introduction, which sees her fighting off a gangster in a moving car. The camerawork and choreography is insanely impressive, and it serves as one truly wonderful introduction to one of the show’s best characters.
