  • If they have any heart, they should at least be able to get through the Falcons and Redskins to finally get back on the winning side of the ledger.

i think the next two weeks will be an appropriate test to see what this team is made of. while i believe washington's record is way better than they actually are, like bill parcells once said, you are what your record says you are. still, we should have beat em three weeks ago. the falcons are dangerous on offense, terrible defense, but, y'know, we can lose to anybody. the wildcard is off the table, but the division is there for the taking. what we haven't seen is any kind of week to week consistency from the cowboys. can dak play like this two weeks in a row? can the line run block as well as they just did? can the defense keep coming up with big stops in big spots? so many questions. let's start answering them this weekend!

i always liked jeff rohrer, and I guess it wasn't just because he was always covering for anthony dickerson's sorry ass...i hope the cowboys put a pink triangle on our helmets for the rest of the season. bravo to you, jeff. cowboys pride!

what a game today. somehow, the pokes manage to keep hope alive. with a very winnable game in front of us, suddenly things look a little brighter. i'm not concerned about cole; he redeemed himself fighting for critical yards to set up the field goal. i am very concerned about our kicker. missing an xpt is huge, and without beasley's stumbling extra yards, and elliot's 6 or 7, the field goal goes too far right. we won, but by a razor's edge.

on a personal note, i dislocated the tip of my middle finger playing football today, on an end of game pick off this guy who throws cannonballs. it's pretty gruesome, but doesn't hurt. been trying all day to put it back in place. i just can't bring myself to see a doctor over this.

Now that interception by Vander Esch today was far more impressive than last week's where Wentz didn't see him and all he had to do was be able to reach up and pluck the ball out of the air. In all honesty, last week's interception wasn't any more impressive than that sorry ass pick six Tony Romo threw to Barbie Carpenter once upon a time (when the Lions came back from 27-3 in 2011) that was so pitiful you'd think it was intentional. The one today required uncanny quick twitch reflexes to make the pick. In real time, it happened so abruptly and the flight of the ball was so weird that I thought the ball skipped off the ground.

The announcers mentioned that Jerry has already decreed Sean Lee and Vander Esch will split snaps once Lee returns. This is fucking stupid and besides it goes against the precedent previously set back in 2016 when the other unspoken reason Romo was never going to get his job back from Dak is that he would probably be back on the shelf again within 2-3 weeks (if not 2-3 quarters or as evidenced by the preseason game against the Seahawks 2-3 plays). Why in the fuck do you stop Vander Esch's progress for a hobbled horse ready for the glue factory? If Lee needs to be on the field, move him over to strong side linebacker. Whether a veteran suffers from a lack of ability or lack of availability, that asshole is a progress stopper once he forces the younger more promising player back onto the bench. It doesn't really matter because Jerry's coaching mandates have always meant bupkis going all the way back to Jerry not trusting Romo to replace Bledsoe.

this is another example of jerry the idiot, making unnecessary declarations that demonstrate zero knowledge of football and how to run an organization. fucking jerry. as ineffectual as he is, i only wanna hear things from jason.

anyway, good job today, cowboys. and what a delightful time watching the eagles game.

What fresh hell did Jennifer Jason Leigh step out of and what dastardly devil gave her that shitty haircut? Or is that Kato Kaelin after too many rounds of facial re-shapening? Good for this alleged ex-linebacker dude finally feeling comfortable living his life as he wants to.

this shall come as no surprise, but the new mr. rohrer is a skin care specialist.

    dear jerry jones,

i know that part of your pre-game routine includes checking out the hot takes on bloody disgusting's nfl thread, so i figured i'd drop you a line before tomorrow's important game. please, jerry, PLEASE, let us wear our proper home uniforms. no blue-sleeved star jerseys, no blue aways, no white pants. white jersey, silver pants. normal outfits, those that we are most recognized in. i don't want to watch tomorrow's game on our home field looking like we're playing in rfk in the 80's or whatever thansgiving travesty you've trotted out in years past. i realize uniforms shouldn't matter to a really good team, but i think they matter to a team trying to find itself and discover consistency. please, jerry, do the right thing. normal home unis.

    thanks,

    nancy

finally have access to the interwebs again. so glad jerry read my note...it was a treat seeing us dressed normally, and i had a good feeling about the game once i saw that. obviously, amari cooper was awesome, and i'm totally siked that he's proving me wrong. zeke continues to play strong, and dak--despite still taking too many sacks, and sometimes forgeting about the value of mechanics--is playing more and more like a pro qb. he also demonstrated how elusive and strong he is. demarcus lawrence was amazing, and the secondary made numerous plays. the defense has been a little soft as of late, but they're making big plays when needed and creating turnovers, so that's something. i liked the 4th down we went for late in the game, but hated the call, a boring, slow-developing run. jason, i love that you're being so agressive, but stop doing it in such conservative style. we're running well, go for the throat, man, run a play-fake or a bootleg or something that might surprise the defense. still, i like the new mindset. anyway, y'all made for a nice thanksgiving, which i really appreciate. last years sucked.

the refs were horrible all game. i know everyone wants to hit us for the no-call on the pick, but whatever. washington had a blatant facemask on dak and numerous holds, not to mention terrible spots, so whatever. it balances out.

i know we have a tough task in front of us, but i think we can beat nawlins if we play a smart game. fuck the first 80 yards of field. defend the red zone, make em kick field goals. and the offense needs to control the game and seize all opportunities.

fuck yes, dallas! that was some motherfucking defense last night. and even though the offense failed to score enough points, allowed a shit ton of sacks, had a few fumbles, and missed some open receivers, we did keep the ball and drain the clock. to hold the saints to ten points was both a feat of defense, but also a testament to ball control efficiency, even if all those drives didn't necessarily lead to points. but you know what i loved most? seeing the way that whichever unit was on the sideline, they were engaged as fuck and cheering the hell out of the other unit. the reaction from jaylon smith when dak made that impressive, clock ticking, first down run in the 4th quarter damn near brought a tear to my eye. whatever we arem we are together. cohesion counts for a lot. i do think we're gonna need to win out, but i believe we can do it. very proud, cowboys. well done.

What's most impressive is how many flags it took for the Saints to even earn that TD. Apparently the offsides call on Gregory was bogus. Although it may have actually worked out in the Cowboys favor as the Saints were never really put in a situation where they were forced to run any kind of slapdash no huddle offense which might have lead to a score with under three minutes left and then they're suddenly recovering some bullshit onside kick.

Even getting the ball back before the two minute warning but only being down 13-10 allowed the Saints to not feel in any particular hurry and as a result continue to lack the sense of urgency they failed to demonstrate all night. Of course, there are the simple facts of the Cowboys pass rush eating the Saints interior line, the linebackers negating the speed of Kamara and the corners being able to shut down their receivers. Still I would've liked to have known if the Saints would've gotten into the end zone on their own without the presence of rocks in Randy Gregory's head.

it's funny, i was singing randy's praises before the game started to my dad and brother. i really feel like he's had a nice impact on the steadiness of our rush. as a stoner myself, i' obviously inclined to feel some empathy for his plight, and i've been happy to see him be able to play a meaningful role for us. but, man, rough night. i'm not sure if i admire the cowboys coaching staff for leaving him in after the onsides, when he looked like he was having an out-of-body experience, or am in disbelief that they would be so stupid as to leave someone on such a bad run in such an important game so late. but hey, it worked out. and yeah, the offsides was bullshit.

i am getting tired of hearing how many flags they miss on plays perpetrated by us--yeah, it was head-to-head, no beasley didn't get the first down (maybe next time you'll save your challenges for actual scenarios wherein you need them, fuckheads)--but i see constant uncalled penalties being committed by our opponents...just like in every game ever. the reffing seems particularly bad this year, but whatever, it all balances out. teams play the other team, the conditions, the refs. if a game comes down to a call, you didn't play it well enough.

i am really pleased with the defense, and despite being let off the hook by said defense, the offense did some good things--time of possession, third down conversions, scoring more points than them. obviously, there's lots to clean-up, especially on offense, but that was just tough football. i hope we can use this ten days to get some perspective and come down a little, because it's just one regular season game, and everyone has good things to say about the cowboys all of a sudden. it was a great win, we were screaming our heads off, and the defense especially punched them in the face, but the saints obviously didn't bring their a game; they were tired and ready to lose. glad we obliged them. like i said, the unity and the feelings of goodwill that this team really seems to be developing for itself are what's got me so excited, and we also have some some attitudes (jaylon smith, im looking at you) that are just what we need to raise the physicality of this team. i like what i'm seeing, but am still cautiously optimistic.

Greatest player to ever step onto a football Field.
  • How many other black players did Brown even play against? Bear Bryant didn't even integrate Alabama until 1973. I think the idea that if Brown played two decades later when weight training (became emphasized) would've made him that much more dominant is ass backwards. Advancements in weight training and the evolution of defenders physically would've narrowed the gap between Brown and the guys trying to tackle him more so than the opposite is true. It matters that Brown got to run over defensive lineman he was bigger and stronger than who also smoked cigarettes at halftime instead of rehydrating.

I'll take Jerry Rice as the best ever. Nearly 200 TD's for a receiver. Even Walter Payton put up monster numbers having to carry some pretty crummy Bears teams. Football isn't baseball. The Brown argument is kind of lazy and boring. He would've been a dominant player in any era. Fair enough. Besides Brown though, how many other great running backs even played before Walter Payton? The murderer who is also a breakfast beverage. The Browns were absolutely loaded in that era too. Put 100 guys since 1970 in a time machine and they would've run over the slow lumpy defenders as dominantly as Brown did.

Physical freaks like Moss, Megatron and Julio have came and went since Rice retired but none of them were as consistently great as him. He might have had Hall Of Famers throwing him the ball but he's as big a factor in those guys being Hall Of Famers as they are responsible for his records. Remember when Randy Moss had 23 TDs in 2007? Well, twenty years earlier Rice had 22 TDs......in 12 games.
  • Best player to suit up in my opinion would have to be Barry Sanders at least offensively and he did it on a lot of mediocre Lions teams that didn't have Joe Montana or Steve Young.

  • Best quarterback Payton ever had was the punky QB. Sanders was obviously a mutant even amongst athletes but his game had a lot of boom or bust to it. That means if Sanders wasn't breaking off ridiculous runs his style had him eating a lot more no gains and runs for negative yardage than other running backs who might even get three to five yards on some of those carries. 13 carries for negative 1 yard against the Packers in a playoff game?

Rice caught plenty of TD's from shitbirds like Steve Bono and Elvis Grbac too. I get the argument that any wide receiver that ever played still depended on the quarterback to get them the ball. I'd take Walter Payton over Barry Sanders though. Now if you want to think outside the box, the case can be made for L.T. considering how influential he was on the way defense was played going forward.
  • Barry didn't quite shine in the playoffs but to be fair he didn't get that many opportunities.

It's hard pressed in saying LT isn't the greatest defensive player to play.

Reggie White has gotta be in the discussion though and Bruce Smith.
