Trauma 2017 (7.5/10) - Dubbed as Chile's A Serbian Film, this is one nasty rape revenge that contains the political backdrop of its past military dictatorship. While I'm not sure it reaches quite the extremes of A Serbian Film (it's close!), the comparisons are just as its a well made and brutal piece that actually has bite. No doubt this will offend and stay with many people but that's exactly what transgressive films should do.
Amazing film about one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Malek owns the Mercury role and the dudes playing May, Taylor and Deacon are all top notch. The Wembley Stadium scene was fucking glorious!
"Little old lady got mutilated late last night" [Warren Zevon, Werewolves of London, 1978]
This film is absolute perfection and Eric Heisserer's adaptation may be one of the best ever. There's so much in this film to unwrap, some complicated ideas that Heisserer and Villeneuve must have been wrestling with everyday, yet they make it all seem so effortless. And it's genuinely emotional, too. That's without even starting on the visual and audial storytelling at play. I can't see Villeneuve ever topping this, at least for me personally.

Total clusterfuck. The robot castle Voltron shit was bad enough but it really lost me with the giant monkeybat Batman.

I read that George C. Scott refused all his Oscar nominations and win, what a man.
