This is so much its own unique movie that I probably would have never guessed it was a Suspiria remake. The character motivations are completely different. It's a good horror movie though, when you don't compare it to the original. Obviously a lot of thought and care went into it, and that's refreshing to see for the much-neglected witch sub genre. Strong three out of five.
I love the way you sing, okay? I fucked up my whole life because of the way you sing. - Before Midnight
First Reformed 2017 (8.5/10) - Schrader captures the current climate of human suffering brilliantly and reminds us of how we need hope, love, community and the sacrifice of our ego. I was definitely touched by this but I'm struggling to accept the path Toller ultimately went down.
Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened - 4/5
Holy shit. What an absolute shit show of a disaster. Honestly, there's no way to describe how disastrous this actually turned out, and the fact that the guy who was directly responsible for it was still pulling scams while he was out on bail is actually mind-blowing. I don't feel sorry for anyone involved. Rich douchebag hipsters scamming other rich douchebag hipsters and rich douchebag hipsters all falling for it.
