Play as the Shark or the Heroes in New ‘JAWS’ Board Game, Available Now from Target!

Published

on

Originally previewed at Toy Fair earlier this year, Ravensburger has just released their brand spankin’ new strategy/suspense board game Jaws, of course based on the classic horror film from director Steven Spielberg. The game is now available through Target!

The 2-4 player game takes a unique two-act approach to recreating the movie, with one player controlling the shark and the other player(s) controlling Brody, Hooper and Quint.

In Act 1: Amity Island, the shark prowls secretly through the waters around the island attacking swimmers and avoiding capture. Meanwhile the other players try to pinpoint the shark’s location while also saving the tourists.

Then in Act 2: The Orca, experience the climactic battle aboard the slowly sinking Orca. Brody, Hooper and Quint are well-armed… but they don’t know where the great white will strike next!

While many movie-themed board games are fairly simple re-skins of existing games, Ravensburger has gone all out here to create an entirely new game that’s tailor made for hardcore fans of Jaws, faithfully recreating pretty much the entirety of the movie in painstaking detail. As Quint, for example, you fire barrels into the water, while Brody is primarily tasked with using his binoculars to keep an eye out for the shark from land. Hooper, meanwhile, uses his fish-finder device to track down the shark and save swimmers from the hungry predator.

As the shark, naturally, you swim around avoiding detection and eating humans. Your primary goal in Act One is to do just that: eat a certain number of humans and you win.

Never has the movie come to tabletops quite like this before!
