We still don’t yet have a premiere date but the Gremlins franchise is soon headed back into our lives courtesy of the HBO Max series “Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai,” a half-hour animated prequel series from WB Animation and Amblin TV that’s set in 1920s Shanghai and tells the story of how 10-year-old Sam Wing met the young Mogwai called Gizmo.

While we wait for more, we’ve learned today via The Hollywood Reporter that “Secrets of the Mogwai” will be given a cross-platform run, also airing on the Cartoon Network.

THR reports, “The show will be part of “ACME Night,” a Sunday evening block of family-friendly movies and shows that will debut on Cartoon Network Sept. 19 and HBO Max in early 2022. Among the HBO Max titles making the jump are Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, Aquaman: King of Atlantis, Unicorn: Warriors Eternal, and Batman: Caped Crusader.”

Head over to THR to learn more about the weekly block.

The voice cast for the Gremlins prequel series includes:

  • Ming Na-Wen as Fong Wing
  • BD Wong as Hon Wing
  • James Hong as Grandpa Wing
  • Izaac Wang as Sam Wing
  • A.J. LoCascio as Gizmo
  • Gabrielle Green as Elle
  • Matthew Rhys as Riley Greene

“Along with teenage street thief Elle, Sam and Gizmo take a perilous journey through the Chinese countryside, encountering, and sometimes battling, colorful monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore. On their quest to return Gizmo to his family and uncover a legendary treasure, they are pursued by a power-hungry industrialist and his growing army of evil Gremlins.”

The series is developed, written and produced by Tze Chun.

“Chucky” – Official Trailer for This Week’s New Episode Brings Brad Dourif into the White House!

Just two episodes remain in Season 3 of “Chucky,” with the second-to-last episode airing this Wednesday night on USA & SYFY. It’s titled “There Will Be Blood,” and oh yes there will be.

Last week’s episode was absolutely INSANE, with Chucky taking control of the situation room in the White House and attempting to start World War 3. His plan was thwarted, but not before nuking the North Pole. In the wake of launching that missile, Chucky met the true death, his doll body disintegrating into ash like he got Thanos snapped out of existence.

The episode ended with an appearance from Brad Dourif as Charles Lee Ray in his human form, with his spirit now free from the doll and roaming around the haunted White House.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for this week’s episode: “Parapsychologists investigate the disturbances in the White House, while Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) plans her escape.”

“There Will Be Blood” airs Wednesday, April 24 on USA and SYFY. Reversing a new plan they tested out last week, we’re told the episode will be available on Peacock this Thursday.
