Death From Above 1979’s Official Statement

Published

on

About 5 years ago the Canadian punk duo Death From Above 1979 abruptly called it quits. At least to fans it was quite abrupt considering the couple years prior to their break up they were gaining a bigger following and becoming more and more successful. The duo for the last year of them being a band were at constant odds and always on the verge of calling it quits. Instead they decided to finish up their last booked tours and go separate ways. I along with a lot of other people were devastated. Well it was recently announced that they were getting back together and having their reunion show at this year’s Coachella. I was  skeptical but yesterday they released an official statement.

Read past the break for the statement! “It’s been 5 years since Death From Above 1979 played a show, 10
years since Jesse played me the first demos & 11 years since we sat in his
parents basement and played so loud we knocked the china off the shelves
upstairs. 11 seems to be a YES number for me. Though I am usually a pretty
rational guy, if I have something on my mind and I see an 11 somewhere, I know
I’m on the right path. It’s one of my last remaining superstitions. 2011 has a
nice ring to it & if you’re so inclined, it may be the last year ever! So
why not say YES? Why not say YES to Coachella? Why not say YES to playing the
music we designed to be an undeniable source of power? Why not say YES to
stirring up a writhing pit of sweaty humans? YES to riots! YES to heavy music!
YES instead of maybe, and YES to make death your adviser and remind yourself
always, that this is not a dress rehearsal. This is the big show.

Jesse and I have decided that what we can do together should
not be denied.

Together again, as was always the intention, as a collaboration.

The collision of two different worlds.

As this all takes shape, we will reveal it to you.

All of it happening, as it always has, in our own way.

Thank you all for sharing in our excitement!

Yes.

SEBASTIEN”

If you aren’t familiar with Death From Above 1979 I strongly suggest you pick up their LP “You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine” and their EP “Heads UP”. Also check out their videos below! Enjoy!!!

‘The Vampire Lestat: One Night Only Live’ Concert Event to Make Streaming Debut Next Month

The Vampire Lestat: One Night Only Live

AMC has announced that The Vampire Lestat: One Night Only LIVE, the standing-room-only performance celebrating AMC’s premiere of its newly-released The Vampire Lestat at New York City’s iconic Beacon Theatre last month, will debut on streaming.

The Vampire Lestat: One Night Only LIVE begins streaming on AMC+ on August 23.

Ahead of its streaming premiere, fans can preview the concert event, featuring original songs from series composer Daniel Hart and performed by Sam Reid, in Hall H at Comic Con International on July 24.

Our own Daniel Kurland attended the special event, highlighting how electric the Immortal Vampire is on stage: “It’s clear in this season of television that Reid was born to be a rock star, but it’s surreal to see him effortlessly command the stage — and the audience — at every step of the concert. He recites Shakespeare monologues and bitches out Armand between songs, all while the audience screams in support. For the duration of this concert, Reid is Lestat, and he’s given thousands of fans a memory that’s as immortal as any vampire.”

Based on Anne Rice‘s The Vampire Chronicles book series, The Vampire Lestat is the rock and roll-centric third season of AMC’s “Interview with the Vampire” created by showrunner Rolin Jones.

The Vampire Lestat goes on an electric multi-city tour while being haunted by “muses” from his wild and rebellious past. As his band’s popularity and star power rises, so does Lestat’s influence over vampires and humans alike, leaving others to contend with Lestat’s power in the face of the Great Conversion, an unnatural surge in the vampire population.

Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles and Jennifer Ehle star with Reid. Executive producers include Jones, Mark Johnson, Hannah Moscovitch, the late Anne Rice, and her son Christopher Rice.

The series finale airs this Sunday, July 19, on AMC and AMC+.
