THE FRENCH SAY “F*CK YOU HELLYWOOD
My boy Travis just pointed me to this very interesting article where some big French filmmakers have spoken out against Hollywood – and take a stab at the Elm Sreet reboot whle they’re at it. Here’s a tatse.
“I can only talk for myself, but Hollywood is not much of an attraction for me,” Mr. Du Welz (the director Calvaire and Vinyan) says. “I know I wouldn’t be happy on a film set having two line producers prodding me like on a commercial.”
“Directors like myself, Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, and Pascal Laugier have all been getting sent the same scripts, it’s not like Hollywood is interested in us as individual talents,” he adds.
Mr. Bustillo (co-director of Inside) is in total agreement: “We [Julien Maury and I] have an American agent who couldn’t understand how we could turn down directing a remake of ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street.’ He felt we were going to earn a lot of money and make a big hit — why refuse? But for us, the screenplay wasn’t any good, and we weren’t going to be able to rewrite it. We’re not interested in cheating, we want to make films we can be proud of.”

PREDATORS SHOOTS THIS SEPTEMBER
Robert Rodrigiez’s Troublemaker Studios is working fast as they plan on shooting Predators, their reboot of Predator on September 28th in Austin, Texas, where they are currently lensing Machete. Being helmed by Nimrod Antal (Vacancy, Bloody Disgusting has learned exclusively that they are currently seeking a “Black”, “Asian”, “Russian” and “Latino” marine. Got to have some flavor in this “prequel”.
In this version, a group of humans will find themselves stranded on a planet home to Predators and must survive the horrors they encounter. James Cameron pulled a similar move with his advancement of the “Alien” franchise in his “Aliens.”

LINDSAY LOHAN, GROSS
Speaking of Robert Rodriguez, below you’ll find some behind-the-scenes shots of Lindsay Lohan in Machete, which is shooting now in Austin, Texas under the direction of Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis.
Machete is a Mexican ex-Federale with a gift for wielding a blade, who hides out as a day laborer, who is double-crossed by a corrupt state senator. Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Robert De Niro, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Steven Seagal, Cheech Marin, Don Johnsonand Jeff Fahey all star.

A SHATTERED LOOK AT DORIAN GRAY
A new one sheet was revealed for Oliver Parker’s (one of the many) film version of Dorian Gray, whic is a step up from the horrid promo art floating around the web. The adaptation tells the story of the titular Dorian (Prince Caspian’s Ben Barnes), a privileged and beautiful young man in Victorian England who wishes, as he gazes at his latest portrait, that the picture could age instead of him. Lo and behold, it does – but as Dorian becomes older and more corrupt, the portrait in the attic becomes a monster.

SCRIMM JOINS THE NOSFERATU?
Fangoria reports that Don Coscarelli is finally looking to get Bubba Nosferatu, the sequel to Bubba Ho-tep off the ground.
“Well, I have this window that’s about to open,” actor Ron Perlman, who will be replacing Bruce Campbell as Elvis revealed. “I’ll be done shooting [his cable series] SONS OF ANARCHY in September, and we’re hoping to get into production on BUBBA in my hiatus between seasons two and three. I just spoke to [actor] Paul Giamatti [set to play Elvis’ manager, Colonel Tom Parker] and Don Coscarelli this morning, and we’re just moving the ball down the field, trying to get her done.”
They add that Perlman will likely reteam with his I SELL THE DEAD co-star Angus Scrimm…Scrimm is being recruited to play a Boris Karloff-like horror star who Elvis meets up with (pre-HO-TEP) in Los Vegas on the set of a vampire movie.
