‘Splat Pack’ Documentary Now on DVD!

Published

on

Documentaries aren’t always boring. Sure, there are the ones that focus on a subject that’s duller than a sixth grade science class, but Wyrd’s Splat Pack piece is just the opposite. For a horror fan, it’s like taking the Delorean back to 2002 and planting themselves in a packed theater with a bunch of gore hounds.

Yeah- it’s that good.

Last summer, Wyrd Studios gave us The Splat Pack, a look into the group that changed the face of horror after a run of PG-13 films took the genre down a notch. Featuring directors Eli Roth (Hostel), Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II-IV), Adam Green (Hatchet), Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers), Greg McLean (Wolf Creek), and Alexandre Aja (Piranha 3D), as well as journalists Alan Jones (Total Film), Stacey Layne Wilson (Horror.com), and Harry Knowles (Ain’t It Cool), and FX Extraordinaire Greg Nicotero, this fun, blood-soaked reminder has a taste of just about everything- and that’s what makes it so damn awesome.

I know I’ve shoved it down your throats before, but there’s a reason I’m throwing it back in your direction- the DVD is finally available to the public through Amazon.com. You can go ahead and purchase your copy right here.

I highly suggest checking it out if you haven’t already done so. As Darren Lynn Bousman so eloquently gushed, “I am proud to be a part of a documentary which is a love letter to all the films that shaped and inspired me. I am honored and humbled to be a part of such a twisted and brilliant group of filmmakers.

After all, what would the current state of horror be like without some good old fashioned blood and guts?

GOOD MANNERS blu-ray

One of contemporary horror’s best werewolf movies is 2017’s Good Manners, and it’s finally set to receive a proper physical media release.

Icarus Films is partnering with OCN Distribution to unleash a new Blu-ray that’s now available to preorder via Vinegar Syndrome. and with a limited edition slipcover.

Set in São Paulo, the film follows Clara, a lonely nurse from the outskirts of the city who is hired by mysterious and wealthy Ana to be the nanny of her soon to be born child. Against all odds, the two women develop a strong bond. But a fateful night marked by a full moon changes their plans.

Good Manners is the second collaboration between filmmakers Juliana Rojas and Marco Dutra, who write and direct. Zama’s Rui Poças‘ cinematography captures this unique werewolf tale described as “Disney meets Jacques Tourneur.”

Our own Trace Thurman wrote in his review, “With Good Manners, Rojas and Dutro have made one of the best werewolf movies ever made. That they are able juggle commentaries on racism and classism while still managing to tell two deeply affecting love stories is remarkable.”
