‘Jaws’. Blu-ray. August 2012.
Easily the most important news of 2011 is The Digital Bits landing early word that Universal Home Entertainment is slotting Steven Spielberg’s classic 1975 summer blockbuster Jaws for a Blu-ray release on August 14, 2012. Spielberg told AICN earlier this year that the release (thankfully) won’t be amended (like he did with E.T.) in any way leaving in all wires and other visible bruises.
They’ve also been told that at least some of the sequels may be released on Blu-ray on the same day, including Jaws 3D on Blu-ray 3D.
In other brief HD news, they also report that Universal is working on plans to release a Blu-ray box set of the classic Universal Monsters films in time for Halloween 2012! AWESOME.
Godzilla is headed back to the big screen in Toho’s Godzilla Minus Zero from director Takashi Yamazaki (Godzilla Minus One), the official sequel to his hit Godzilla Minus One.
The first Japanese movie to be filmed for IMAX, Godzilla Minus Zero will receive a wide theatrical release in North America on November 6, 2026 via GKIDS.

Godzilla Minus One stars Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe will both be reprising their roles in Godzilla Minus Zero, with Takashi Yamazaki back in the director’s chair.
The film is set in 1949 — two years after the events of its predecessor.
Godzilla Minus Zero marks Toho’s 34th Godzilla film since 1954.
Godzilla Minus One grossed $116 million worldwide, making it the most successful Japanese Godzilla film. It went on to win an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects along with eight Japan Academy Film Prize awards. Needless to say, the bar has been raised by Toho.
With Yamazaki back at the helm, Godzilla Minus Zero promises to be an epic EVENT.
