Slimy Horror In First Look At Sci-Fi Horror ‘Ombis’
DefTone Pictures Studios announces cult actress Lynn Lowry has signed on to do a cameo in their upcoming feature film Ombis. Lynn Lowry has appeared in such films as Paul Schrader’s Cat People (1982) and George A Romero’s The Crazies (1973). Lynn will be playing a vital role in the conclusion of the sci-fi/horror flick.
DefTone Pictures Studios’ Ombis is a 1950’s styled sci-fi movie set in modern times. It’s the tale of an invasion of an alien virus which lands via meteorite in the small town of Metzburgh. Metzburgh is a former industrial town whose glory days are long past but whose residents are carrying on with their daily lives: loving each other and living life as best they can. In the midst of this idealistic backdrop, enter the hideous virus Ombis, which is intent on taking over the planet Earth and changing its residents into a host for a new species.
The only thing that can stop Ombis is Nemesis, an alien from the same home planet as the virus who was sent here to contain the alien scourge. The Nemesis’ disregard for the human race puts him in a position to ensure that the Ombis virus will be eradicated since he doesn’t care about collateral damage and will use any means necessary to destroy his enemy. The real story of Ombis, however, is the human struggle of the residents of Metzburgh: to fight for their village and for their very survival.
Ombis is based on a short story by Steigert and was written by him, Janeen Avery, Mark Mendola, and Terry Kimmel. The cast features Richard Satterwhite (Sheriff Thomas Brackett), Sara Manzella (Lucy), Jason John Beebe (Mark), Alexander Sloan McBryde (Mr. Gray), and Richard Winiatowski (Nemesis).
Production on Ombis is in full swing, and there’s lots of new stuff to share: Teaser Trailer #2, a video interview with makeup FX artist Phill Beith.
DefTone Pictures Studios plans to release the first official trailer of Ombis at the end of July 2012.

‘A Man in the Woods With an Axe’ – First Look at ’80s Throwback Slasher [Exclusive]
We have an exclusive first look at A Man in the Woods With an Axe, a blood-soaked, genre-twisting homage to 1980s slasher films.
Spanning four decades, A Man in the Woods With an Axe begins in the summer of 1987 before pushing into the modern era, weaving together timelines and perspectives in a way that builds both dread and intrigue.
Drawing inspiration from genre standouts like Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Hatchet, and The Cabin in the Woods, the film blends visceral horror with moments of dark humor, creating a uniquely balanced experience that honors tradition while carving its own identity.
Writer-director Dillon Brown (Primal Darkness) aims to deliver everything fans crave from a slasher while boldly subverting expectations with a mid-film twist that redefines the story.
“This is an unapologetic love letter to the films that made me fall in love with horror,” Brown tells Bloody Disgusting. “But I didn’t just want to recreate that feeling; I wanted to challenge it. About halfway through, the film takes a turn that completely changes how you view not only this story, but the genre itself.”
Brown describes the vintage-inspired production as “far and away the bloodiest film I’ve ever made,” with practical effects helmed by Cody Ruch (The Mill, Pig Hill), an instructor at Tom Savini’s Special Make-Up Effects Program.
From Horror Dadz Productions, A Man in the Woods With an Axe is currently in production and targeting an early 2027 release.
