Anchor Bay Gets ‘Demented’ For Zombie Genre
Anchor Bay Films has acquired English speaking terrritorial rights to The Demented, and has added the thriller to its 2013 slate. Produced by Zero Gravity Management and ChickFlicks, The Demented is another zombie-fest, populated by young genre fixtures that include I Spit On Your Grave‘s Sarah Butler, Michael Welch (Twilight Saga), Kayla Ewell (“Vampire Diaries”), Brittney Alger (21 Jump Street) and Richard Kohnke (Mighty Fine). We exclusively broke the news on the film back in May.
The script was penned by writer/director Chris Roosevelt. Filming just wrapped in Louisiana.
In the film, “Six college friends meet up for a carefree weekend that turns deadly. A terrorist attack in a nearby town infects much of the townspeople with a deadly virus that induces rabies-like symptoms, only far more severe. Several of those infected attack the estate where the friends have been vacationing. Can they survive? Where will they hide? Is anyone left? Will we ever get our fill of these flesh eating zombie fiends?“
Out today in select theaters and on digital platforms is heartfelt and playful documentary Mockbuster, which sees a director cold call a studio and ask to helm a lost-world dinosaur epic.

In the documentary, “A struggling filmmaker’s opportunity collides with chaos and compromise when Sharknado’s notorious studio, The Asylum, invites him to direct a ‘mockbuster.’ With six days, a micro budget, and mounting pressure, Mockbuster is a comedic, behind-the-scenes documentary exploring the balance between low-budget filmmaking and creative ambition.”

From Executive Producer and famed documentarian David Farrier, Mockbuster opens in select theaters and on digital platforms beginning July 10.
