Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan Summon ‘God of War’ Chatter
It was revealed back in July that both Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (The Collector, The Collection, Piranha 3DD, and Saw IV-VII) were brought in by Sony Pictures to rewrite the big screen adaptation of the hit video game, God of War. The duo update the project below!
“In the same way that Batman was grounded with Christopher Nolan’s rendition, we were attempting to do that with Kratos so that when we meet him — like they’re doing in this newest game, which is sort of a prequel to the original — we’re seeing him before he became the Ghost of Sparta, when he was just a Spartan warrior and he had family and kids,” they told IGN. “In the game… there’s that attack from the barbarians and Kratos has to call upon Ares to help him. Really, that’s going to be our first act break. Before then, he’s going to be mortal, and he’s going to have his family. We’re going to learn about him and understand how he operates. So it’s potentially 30 minutes — give or take — of building up this character so that, when he does turn and becomes the Ghost of Sparta, we understand him as a human and we understand the journey that he’s going to take. We’re emotionally invested, so that it could go beyond just this one movie.”
As for Ares, he will be a more proactive villain in the movie. “In the game, you know, he’s immortal, and he doesn’t really do much besides raid Athens… So we’re trying to build him up a bit more, too, so that he can become a true villain.” Click the above link for more.
NEON is hitting the road this summer with Gen Z horror hangout movie It Ends, and the distributor promises this afternoon that the trailer will be released online tomorrow, July 22.

The feature debut by writer-director Alexander Ullom will arrive in theaters on August 21.
“Four recent college grads on a night time drive find themselves stuck on a road that sprawls on forever, with seemingly no end in sight. They are occasionally attacked by stragglers and have to find a routine to plan their rest stops, but after a few thousand miles it all feels the same. Still, they keep on driving, only in the belief something better will come eventually.“

“This was always a movie that was more about how we live with horror than about the actual horror. I make this joke too much, but I always wanted to see the family in Hereditary give a postgame interview and just be like, ‘Yeah, that was terrifying. That was absolutely terrifying.’ Then, they all die, obviously, but like they go about their lives. The movie is constantly recontextualizing the things that happen in it,” Ullom previously told BD.
Meagan Navarro wrote in her 4-star festival review for Bloody Disgusting, “It Ends captures a universal fear, that anxiety-inducing transition into full-blown adulthood where we’re all expected to become responsible contributors to society. It’s a lot of pressure with no clear guide. As such, it runs through every emotion that comes with that journey.”
Alexander Ullom is already a filmmaker to watch; the newcomer has already been tapped to helm 4 X 4: The Event, which is being described as Battle Royale meets Saw meets Climax.
