[Trailer] “Penny Dreadful” Comic Series Picks Up Where TV Series Left Off

Last summer, the season three finale of Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful” was revealed to be the true end of the series, much to the surprise of everyone watching. If you miss it, you’ll be happy to know that the story will soon continue in the form of a comic series!

Written by the TV series’ Co-Executive Producer Chris King, the ongoing series is set six months after the shocking events of the “Penny Dreadful” finale.

Volume 1, titled “The Awakening,” will be released on November 7.

“In the void left behind by Vanessa’s death, Ethan and Sir Malcolm must search for a new meaning in life. But the demimonde isn’t done with them yet, as decisions from the past come screaming back to haunt them…”

Check out the reveal trailer below.

    That ending was bullshit!

    • Cappy Tally

I can’t get over how Ethan’s lycanthropy was made into this big thing, like it was his destiny to wolf out and take on Dracula, and then…it doesn’t happen. He just shoots Vanessa. What a load of bullshit.

      • J Jett

Cappy, i totally agree w/ you.

      • HalesTales

“The Wolf of God” . . . and? I’ll never get over how Dracula just gave up too. He just stood there looking all sad.

        • Cappy Tally

Right? They keep insisting this is always how it would end but you can literally tell that at some point during the season shoot, they found out they were canceled and rushed through the rest. I mean come on, what was the point of Jekyll? He did nothing – – NOTHING – – all season and then he inherits daddy’s estate making him Lord Hyde!? What an insanely stupid idea, and so disappointing.

          • HalesTales

I could almost let the Jekyll thing slide if that Lord Hyde nonsense didn’t happen. It sounded so silly haha.

    • J Jett

i agree 10000%. i loved season 1 & 2 but the ending of season 3 sucked major ass. also why even introduce Dr. Jekyll if they aren’t even going to do anything with him? and their “WE ALWAYS PLANNED ON ENDING IT THIS WAY” bullshit declaration was a total lie.

    • Otterlee

How do you recommend a tv series to someone and add “Just don’t watch the last 15 minutes…” Fabulous series right up to the end though.

  • I need this !

  • The Fucked Up

Almost a lifelike randomness to it all; that shit will simply not stand. At least we’re getting something of a continuance.

  • CalUni

Some very valid points on comments here about the ending. But overall what a fantastic show. It was beautiful, creepy, heartbreaking and dripping with atmosphere. That standalone episode in Season 2 with Patti LuPone is incredible and worth rewatching.

  • Biscoito18

I miss this show so much.
    It was unique.

  • shawn

I really like this series so far, a good continuation with an interesting story and creepy art. The writer really has a good handle on the characters voices too since he worked on the show.

  • BreeBennett

It deserved another season, there were many things unanswered and many plots were dropped.
