Gary Friedrich Vs Marvel ‘Ghost Rider’ Case Comics Updates

Remember the debacle between Marvel Ghost Rioder co-creator Gary Friedrich from a while back? The Hollywood Reporter has the latest scoop on the legal proceedings. The last time we updated about this Friedrich owed thousands of dollars to Marvel for selling Ghost Rider goods at comic conventions. The case asked that he no longer advertise himself as the co-creator of Ghost Rider. Now the Second Circuit Court of Appeals has overthrown the initial ruling. Apparently the contracts that Friedrich signed at the time are ambiguous. READ MORE

‘The Death Of Superman’: The Greatest Superhero Horror Story Ever Told?

With the release of Man of Steel in theaters this week, it’s a perfect time to look back at what I believe is one of the best Superman tales ever told. Before the New 52, the biggest event that happened to DC Comics was “The Death of Superman”. Late Review: ‘Abe Sapien: Dark and Terrible’ #3

There is only one word in the English language that can properly relay the masterpiece that is Abe Sapien: Dark and Terrible #3: WOW. This third installment of Abe Sapien’s own ongoing is everything I want in a book and more. Scott Allie has been doing a wonderful job tailoring Abe’s own unique story but the hat has to be tipped to artist Sebastián Fiumara and the ever impressive colourist Dave Stewart. Mayhem, action and most importantly plot twists make this story one of the best I have had the luxury of reviewing this year. READ MORE

[Exclusive] Excerpt: ‘Ecko Rising’

Ecko Rising by Danie Ware is a genre-bending fantasy–sci-fi epic following a savage, cynical anti-hero. After awakening in a dimension-jumping inn to find himself immersed in his own sardonic fantasy world, Ecko strives to conquer his deepest fears and save the world from extinction. Financial Times described the book as “The Matrix meets Game of Thrones” and if that doesn’t sound epic, I don’t know what does. The book is set for release tomorrow, June 11th, from Titan Books. The recent Crow comic books have been inconsistent to say the least, but I have high hopes this time around considering O’barr is back on board. We’ve got an exclusive preview from IDW below. J. Michael Straczynski and Ben Templesmith produce a series that’s a surprisingly natural amalgamation of the horror, occult, supernatural, and noir genres. Hickman’s story takes some quick developments within the first couple of pages to show us an impending conflict. He also takes some time to allow us to get to know our protagonist better, and still gives us some incredible action beats. READ MORE

DC Entertainment unveiled some new digital initiatives today called DC2 and DC2 Multiverse (to be read as DC squared) at the opening of Time Warner’s “The Future of Storytelling” exhibition in New York. The move brings DC comics to life (in some regard). Digital comic panels within the initiative will feature some motion as you swipe through the comic. Think of it as a not-so-static comic, but not quite a motion comic. The technology is expected to launch along with the release of Jeff Parker and Jonathan Case’s “Batman ’66″, based on the classic Batman television show. READ MORE
