Clive Barker’s The Thief Of Always

This is the most personal entry in this list. I remember my parents giving me a few bucks each day for lunch money at school and I decided not to eat for a week so that I could buy this book from the Scholastic Book Club (remember those?). Something about the cover just drew me in and filled my imagination with wonder. And reading it was even better. To this day, it’s still one of my all-time favorite books.
I remember seeing a copy of it one day at the local supermarket and there was something slightly different about the cover. There was a sticker that stated, “Soon to be a major motion picture!” I freaked out, beyond ecstatic that this incredible, amazing, delightful book was going to be a film.
Fifteen years later, I’m still waiting.
I don’t know what it would take for this to move forward but I really hope that it happens.
