‘The Neighbor’ Tortures Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (Exclusive)
Bloody Disgusting received first word that Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton have quietly completed production on their latest genre offering, a crime thriller that reunited them with The Collector producers Brett Forbes and Patrick Rizotti, and star Josh Stewart.
The Neighbor, directed by Dunstan from a screenplay he co-wrote with Melton, is a crime thriller set in Mississippi where a man who discovers the dark truth about his secretive neighbor and what, or who, he may be keeping in the cellar.
Josh Stewart, who also starred in the duo’s The Collection, leads with Melissa Bolona (Shark Lake), Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes), Bill Engvall, Ronnie Blevins (Fear, Inc, Seven Psychopaths), Jaqueline Fleming and Luke Edwards (“True Detective”).
“In the town of Cutter, most people keep to themselves. But when John comes home to find his girlfriend missing, he sneaks into his neighbor’s house, finding his girlfriend and several other kidnapped people tied up in the basement. When the neighbor come home, John is forced to get out of the house alive and lead the group to safety.”
Shaun Redick and Ray Mansfield executive produce with Jason Egan and Tony Sygo.
The Neighbor is now in post through Fortress Features and Salt Company International.

Jennifer E. Montgomery makes her feature directorial debut from a script she co-wrote with director of photography Andrew Davis, inspired by Montgomery’s first-hand experience with tragedy involving her best friend.
“Months before the incident, there were signals that her world was unraveling,” says Montgomery. “I could feel the pressure building, though I didn’t know what form it would take. I never could have known what violence would come, and I certainly never imagined making a film about it.”
Austin Stowell (“NCIS: Origins”), Suraj Sharma (Happy Death Day 2U), Mojean Aria (Reminiscence), Amol Shah (“For All Mankind”), and Zenobia Shroff (“Ms. Marvel”) round out the cast.
