‘Pitchfork’ Gives Birth to a New Horror Icon (Trailer)

Glenn Douglas Packard’s horror spectacle Pitchfork premieres in theaters and On Demand January 13 from Uncork’d Entertainment, Bloody Disgusting learned.

Having recently shared a life-changing secret with his family, Hunter recruits his friends to come with him from New York to the farm where he grew up as he faces his parents for the first time. As the college students enjoy the fresh air of Michigan farm country, an older, more dangerous secret slowly emerges. While Hunter navigates a new place within his conservative family, a vicious creature from their past descends on the farm, putting the unsuspecting city kids in mortal danger.

Produced by Packard, Darryl F. Gariglio and Noreen Marriott, with associate producer Shaun Cairo, and boasting a screenplay by Gariglio and Packard, “Pitchfork introduces audiences to a horrifying new movie monster.”

The ensemble cast includes Daniel Wilkinson, in the title role, with Lindsey Nicole, Brian Raetz, Ryan Moore, Celina Beach, Keith Webb, Sheila Leason, Nicole Dambro, Vibhu Raghave, Rachel Carter, Andrew Dawe-Collins, Carol Ludwick, Derek Reynolds, Addisyn Wallace and Anisbel Lopez.

some parts of this film/trailer look great (the farm/cornfield setting, some of the visuals, etc.) but other parts are incredibly cheesy (the cliche college students who look like they are Spice Girls rejects, the Ash/Evil Dead “inspired” pitchfork hand thing, and the overall mask/look of the killer). i have a feeling this movie will be bad but maybe i’m wrong.

  • Grimphantom

Meh, doesn’t look bad but not something that you can call “new horror icon” My money goes to The Barn

  • Hash-Slinging Slasher

Stop trying to make things a thing.

  • chris hayes

    Looks reasonable….

  • Colin Perkins

The idea of a queer based slasher film and the movie being so open about this(rainbow flag and all) is a pretty good idea. I will be checking it out when it comes out.

    • J Jett

i didn’t even realize this is a LGBT based slasher film. i admit i’m daft sometimes but is it explicitly said that the character’s “life changing” secret is his being gay? did you see the gay slasher film HELLBENT? i saw it so long ago i can’t remember if it’s any good or not.

      • Colin Perkins

I’m just going off of how their van is covered in gay pride flags. Though they may not all be gay. It maybe an LGBT group in general. No I haven’t seen Hellbent, heard pretty mixed things. I have seen NightBreed. Actually I should see that again, it’s been a LONG time. I do think this idea is pretty timely, maybe even a bit to much on the nose. A bunch of LGBTQ people being hunt down by a killer red neck. Yep that’s a pretty blatant commentary on Hillary supporters vs Trump supporters. Of course that could be accidental. Of course, just cause it has a good idea doesn’t mean it will be good. Will have to see about that.

Colin, i give you credit for having a better eye that i do (or maybe i just wasn’t paying attention when i watched the trailer. LOL). i’m gay and usually i’m good at noticing LGBT things in movies but it went right over my head with this one! 🙂

          • Colin Perkins

I’m going to side with the not paying attention, lol. Thanks for the credit though! 🙂

      • zombie84_41

I seen HELLBENT been a while though it was rather interesting.

  • Vengeance1138

Dear lord, this looks like a student film… if this is supposed to be the current generation’s “icon” then this generation truly has failed the genre.

  • Munchie

Well, the girls look hot but they’re probably all carpet munchers. Am I homophobic if I say this looks like shit?

    • J Jett

Munchie, i’m gay and i too think this movie looks pretty bad. lol.

  • Sweet Reaper

Just like how you said Blair Witch will “redefine the horror genre” hahaha, get out of here you wannabe journalist.

  • dsxy

New horror icon? lol, great way to set expectations ridiculously high which after seeing the trailer, it can’t possibly live up too. It’s been mentioned but some of the establishing shots look pretty good, the rest is syfy level stuff.

  • F. This

Any Slasher vs today’s youth would be over in 5 minutes. I like the different angle, truly, I do. But this should be a very short film. Will they ask the killer to get out of their safe space?

  • Satanzilla

You can’t be an icon if you haven’t been released to theaters yet.
