Wasn’t this filmed like 2 years ago? Holy shit. I feel bad for the Filmmakers.

      • BooMstick Critique

Not really they made a highly regarded horror film inside. If this is half as godo as thats supposed to be dvd or not it should be great.

        • Forca84

I’m pretty pleased with the new footage. Was fearing the worst and it looks on par with the last remake and it’s sequel. I just meant I was kinda bummed it’s not getting a wide theatrical release.

          • BooMstick Critique

It was supposed to but they got cold feet.I dont know why maybe they honestly just thought it would be a risk after chainsaw 3d was hated. What would be funny is if unlike chainsaw 3d which is hated this got praise lol

  • shawn lawson

Sweet!!!!!!gonna be a damn good Halloween movie wise

  • Khy

    Lol Direct Tv exclusive? LMAO

    • Forca84

I mean I guess it’s the way of the future. But shit. This was a decent lucrative franchise for awhile. You would’ve thought this would get a full theatrical release. Hell “3D” was shit but turned a profit!

      • Darkknight2149

It was decent in terms of financial success but, outside of the original, the only truly good ones are “TCM 2” and the 2003 remake in terms of quality. Studios keep trying to make this an ongoing successful franchise in the vain of “Friday the 13th”, and they can’t seem to make it work.

Why? I mean, it shouldn’t be this difficult to make slasher franchise about a fast moving killer with a chainsaw, his maniacal family, and the protagonists trying hard to escape. Studios want to copy the formula of the 1974 original, while completely missing the point of why it was scary to begin with.

        • Forca84

Worst continuity in a franchise ever. 😀 I just pretend they are all connected somehow.

        • BooMstick Critique

The problem is the original was an accidentle masterpiece. It can not be repeated.Thats why they did something totally different with 2.The difference between this an jason is that an the fact Leatherface is part of a team an you need good supporting actors an having the same plot of teens in a van killed by leatherface is stupid.Thats why they started changing friday the 13 because this stuff gets old.

          • Darkknight2149

It might be an accidental masterpiece, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make good sequels, prequels, ETC, from it. In fact, one of the biggest mistakes films like “Leatherface: TCM3” (besides being a generally bad film) made was trying to repeat exactly what the original did. At this point, they should stop trying to repeat the plot of the original and make a film with an new story that is still true to what the characters were in the original and the idea of a family of cannibals treating these people as less than human.

It should be noted that “Friday the 13th” was also an accidental horror classic (albeit not the same extent as “Texas Chainsaw” or “Halloween”) and there have been plenty of great sequels to that, even if there hasn’t been a good one since “Part VII”, with the exception of a fun crossover in 2003.

I also have to disagree with the family being the reason the sequels aren’t good. There have been plenty of great family members in the sequels:
-Chop Top, played by Bill Moseley
-Drayton, played by Jim Siedow and Bill Moseley
-The Tealady from the remake series
-Sheriff Hoyt, played by R. Lee Ermey
-Vilmer, played by Matthew McCounahey (even though “The Next Generation” was garbage)
            -Tex from “Part III”
            -ETC
In fact, “Texas Chainsaw 3D” would have probably been better if they HADN’T killed the entire family in the opening scene and instead made a sequel taking place immediately after they were discovered… Though it’s hard to say how much better, given how incompetently made it was.

          • BooMstick Critique

The second sequel is an exception because it has the cook from the first plus bill as chop top an because it dose its own thing. Its its own movie its just not a great one its a good comedy thats funny for a while but wears thin. The reason the sequels arent as good is multiple reasons reason one texas chainsaw can not be equaled it can not be done it has never been done an will never done.Because that movie was an accident. Now can a sequel just be fun or as good in a different way yes but hte problem is first the family in the first two which are the same characters minus the hitchiker who died in one are hard ot duplicate or even equal.Another problem an the biggest is Texas chainsaw dosent need sequels it was a standard one off so everything after has felt forced to me.Except chainsaw 2 because it did its own thing an even that one wasnt great. Its also because unlike friday or nightmare chainsaw is more down an dirty an more simply story. For friday they had to bring in a hockey masked zombie just to keep the franchise going an have him return from the dead go to new york fight a psychic an so on.You really cant do plots like that with Leatherface. You could try but boy would it be stupid.Because chainsaw came together so well by accident its impossible to equal it.So no matter how good a sequel may be it will still feel like been there done that.Chainsaw shouldnt have been a franchise. For Chainsaw 3d it should have stayed in the 70s an had the family on the run with the cops after them or set it in the 9os an do the long lost relative plot either one would have been better. For me the bottom line is chainsaw can never be equaled with a sequel. An if they go in a new direction like Chainsaw 2 no matter how great it may be it still feels un needed because the original diddnt need a sequel.Yes its true the ycould just make a bunch of slasher chainsaw movies like friday but even if there fun chainsaw was all ways more then that.An I feel should be better then that. For me this is a franchise that never should have been a franchise.Same as Halloween.

          • BooMstick Critique

Also those characters you named while good never equaled the original family in my opinion. In every sequel I could feel the loss of every original family character. With the exception of 2 because it had the majority of the characters back. They have never been able ot come close to equaling the family from the original except in 2 which is an exception because its the same family.

      • As much as TEXAS CHAINSAW was successful for Lionsgate, they must hate this film(after having seen it in their private screening room) to be given it this kind of a brutal treatment.

        • Forca84

It’s so odd… Even bad movies get released if they have a chance in making a profit.

    • BooMstick Critique

You guys do realize alot of great horror movies were direct ot dvd right.

  • Forca84

I guess Leatherface is dead. Stick a Chainsaw in him.

    • Saturn

      Chainsaw Gutsfuck.

      • Simon Allen

I don’t think they we let a franchise like this die …..I predict a re-boot sometime in the future with this movie totally ignored.

        • BooMstick Critique

You mean like every sequel dose.Nearly every chainsaw sequel is a reboot lol.3 ignores 2 4 ignores everything the remake ignores every thing. Then 3d ignores everything but the original. This will be the best thing ot come from this franchise in years

          • Simon Allen

I wasn’t dissing Leatherface ….i hope it is good .

          • BooMstick Critique

You are correct the next film will ignore this one just like every Chainsaw sequel an prequel ignores the others mostly.

      • HalesTales

Could be a Cannibal Corpse song title haha

        • Saturn

Well, to be honest, it is a real song titled, by the mighty MAYHEM.

    • BooMstick Critique

Leatherface has been dead for over a decade lol.None of the sequels have measured up.This film is the most interesting thing to come out of this franchise in years.

      • Forca84

Not a fan of “Chainsaw 3d” or “Butcher Boys” I take it?

        • BooMstick Critique

Chainsaw 3d was terrible in my opinion.I thought it had the best sequel idea but terrible excution. For me Chainsaw one is great an cant be beaten. The second was a good comedy. The third was all right in the unrated cut.The fourth so bad its good. The remake was good. The remak prequel which wasnt a prequel but just another remake was ok.3d was terrible it had so much good going into it thats why im tougher on it.The story idea is great but the way it unfolded was so bad.I could have writen a better script.

          • Forca84

I fucking hated 3D. It was a mess. Just some glossy MTV shit.

          • BooMstick Critique

I thought it had a great idea for a sequel but the way the script did it was terrible.I saw the trailer for this an rather it will be good or bad I dont know but it looks a heck of alot better then the 3d one. What this film needs is ot be down an dirty an have a low budget look like the original so that it feels real with real kills an blood. An a good script. If they want ot show me how leatherface becomes leatherface an why. They need to commit ot it no dancing around get inside the characters head an really show us why he becomes Leatherface. If this movie can get the mood close to the original an have good gore an kills an really show me why a person would become Leatherface. Then this will easily be the best film in this franchise after the first.

    The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

    October 1st 1974- October 27th 2017

Sweet chariot…coming forth to carry me home…

  • Necro

    Hope these dates don’t change

  • Darkknight2149

Now for the trailer and home video information. I am very disappointed at how bad those stills look. Hopefully, they are just out-of-context and the film looks fine.

  • Hack Snyder

An exclusive DirecTV release? Abandon all hope.

    • Matty Ice 2016

      Abandon Ship!!!

  • Brey Compton Arriaga

What the F??!!!! I hope they go for a theatrical release here in Mexico, this is Texas Chainsaw we’re talking about here!

    • Saturn

You know something, I’d really like to see a Mexican take on the whole TCM thing – I suppose the obvious take would be set around the Day Of The Dead, but something a little more interesting.
Perhaps using the occult aspect of the Maya/Aztecs or similar (not sure if the Maya/Aztecs were in Mexico or further down the Americas, I’m in the UK, so don’t hold it against me! -Just like you all think we Brits all live in England and know the Queen, we get a bit confused about the whole Meso American thing).

      • Forca84

They sort of did that with the “Butcher Boys” (aka “Bone Boys”) spinoff movie. It deals with a Cannibal Cult.

  • Alex

    DirecTV exclusive? That’s pretty disappointing.

  • Matty Ice 2016

This is not the Leatherface I was looking for….I thought this was a real bigtime release …Just made for TV Schlock…..Wake me when this turd flushes… https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/43f62bf0b5cd9dd87e009d13eaac5db2e07770dc9c83fa9fb786ed96f23deab0.gif

    • BooMstick Critique

You have no idea dude this was made for theaters an is only gettign that release because the studio dosent trust it ot make alot ofr money after the 3d one under performed.

  • Matty Ice 2016

    Direct TV Blows ..Trust me

  • HotelFSR

    No surprise here…

  • Mike Gionfriddo

I have the script if anyone is interested. chainsaw.mike80@gmail.com

  • disqus_uqr3Boh0Wp

Direct to TV! Why does every good franchise end up of fucking tv. That’s the end of that one.

  • Matty Ice 2016

Nothing has changed here ……Still very much a complete Mess!!! At least this franchise is committed to making the worst film possible ….For our viewing pleasure …Eff Off You Studio Morons !!! This is what I think of your office couch .. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/43f62bf0b5cd9dd87e009d13eaac5db2e07770dc9c83fa9fb786ed96f23deab0.gif

    • Saturn

Is that a deleted scene from the director’s cut of Return Of The Living Dead?

      • Matty Ice 2016

        Ha ha !!

  • A2VL

Just stick a fork in the franchise. Reshoots, years worth of delays, the photo looks cheap as hell, and now being dumped to VOD/Directv after originally being a major theatrical release.

    • Darkknight2149

I hope they release a Director’s Cut, so that we see the film Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo made before it was completely reshot.

      • Meisha’s Taint

So this isn’t even their movie anymore????? I had no idea that had happened wow.

        • Simon Allen

It did have major re-shoots almost a year after it was originally completed but Bustillo and Maury were STILL behind the cameras .

        • Darkknight2149

It’s hard to say, though the film is definitely compromised to some extent. Even if the directors were behind the cameras during the reshoots, it appears that the reshoots were still studio mandated. Nearly every movie undergoes reshoots, but not to the extent that “Leatherface” did, especially with the studio getting cold feet about releasing it for as long as Lionsgate had.

          • Mike Gionfriddo

The only real portion that was reshot was the opening sequence with Lorina Kamburova’s character. Avi Lerner and the powers that be at Millennium wanted the openings dialogue cut and more gore f/x added to her death scene. Also, the accents were a big issue and were difficult to work around in post.

          • ScriptGiverrrr

Stop lying and acting like you know shit.

  • Stogie Jones

Everyone shifting on the movie, have you even read the script? Its good. Might end up the best sequel in the franchise. Unless the script I read was the one they threw away, it will be a fine movie.

    • Khy

There are lots of decent scripts that are turned into bad movies.

There’s also heavy re-writes and changes made on set. Plus- that script wasn’t all that great to me anyway

      • Mike Gionfriddo

The “reshoots” were nothing more than a redone opening sequence death and some ADR looping.for a few of the actors. Lorina Kamburova and Vanessa Grasse have THICK english accents, which were not easy to work around during post.

        • Khy

Regardless. It’s a Direct Tv Exclusive instead of a majorly released theatricle film

This is sad and quite telling.

          • BooMstick Critique

It just means thestudio got cold feet on how good the film would do.Its made by good film makers I saw the trailer an it looked great. This is gonna go one of two ways either its released an every goes yea that sucked or its released an every one goes hey why did you idiots not give the best sequel a better release. My money is on this being good. The plot is good the trailer looked good the film makers are good.At the very least it will be descent.

        • hatter76

anyone know if the Sawyer House is in the movie?

          • Stogie Jones

Yes. Grandpa is in it, along with a great cemetery.

      • Stogie Jones

What’s not good about it? That ending is sick (in a good way).

  • Ocelot006 .

Well now this is just depressing.

  • Drock Woods

    Texas chainsaw massacre is dead

    • Maxime C

And this VOD realease is its death proof !
      So so weird.

  • The Ghost of Jax

This is just what the horror genre has been reduced to. Garbage remakes, garbage sequels and prequels and rarely an original movie that hits with audiences.
It’s not hard to assume this movie will be terrible. But having said that, any leaks out there yet?

  • ScriptGiverrrr
  • Alanmac

Releasing on my wedding anniversary! Now I know what to get her!

  • Frank Deutscher

Question: Does that means, (excl. direct. VOD release) that a regular BR/DVD release is definitly NOT set in the future?? Sounds not that good to me. We still need the BR to complete our all beloved TCM collection and not this shit of a VOD release 🙁
Hope another one gets the licnence for another european country.

  • Halloween_Vic

Wait what? This is not getting a theatrical release? This just confirms how bad this movie must be, and that fucking sucks man. No prejudging though because I still have hope this turns out good somehow.

    • BooMstick Critique

Not really its made by good horror film makers.I reckon what happened was the studio got cold feet on the theatrical release prolly afraid after 3d it wouldnt make its money back.
