Jack the Ripper is my obsession. And what could be better than Jack the Ripper and Johnny Depp in a movie? Nothing. That’s what I thought.
As I’ve said, I’m a Ripper fanatic. I’ve read all the theories, and I must say that this is one of the most believable.
The movie From Hell was actually based off of a graphic novel entitled “From Hell”. The graphic novel was based off a book written by Stephen Knight entitled “Jack the Ripper: The Final Solution”.

    Don’t get me started.

“One day men will look back and say that I gave birth to the 20th century.” – Jack the Ripper

The best movie about jack the ripper ever made, very well scripted, acted, directed, this movie kept me glued to my seat the whole time until it’s grim finish.
    definatly a masterpiece recommended

Not too bad a little slow paced for my taste but still good. I like the style of this film, and once again Depp is amazing.

Great film exploring the facts & some of the myths surrounding Jack the Ripper. Good performances all around, somewhat long, but not disappointing.

Beautiful movie to look at with a fairly faithful recreation of 19th century Whitechapel, and the cast is very good too…

But I didn’t like this movie. The plot was not very interesting. I’d rather just see a horror movie about the Jack the Ripper murders rather than some long and boring conspiracy theory.

Yet everything else was fairly accurate.. Truth is no one knows who Jack the Ripper is, so quit trying to offer your own theories! Just give us a good JtR movie.

The best Jack the Ripper movie, I love how this film was approached and how they made a legend like Jack the Ripper into such a intriging mystery.

I Thought that Heather Graham & Jhonny Depp Performance were the best it the film. The Move was drak, errir, creepy, shocking & disgusting moment of the film of blood & guts (while use stunts of gorey take is excellent), Some people throught it was dissapointed on the film, but I found it quite entertaining to me ad I liked it its loyal and is mostly based on Jack the ripper.

Ha, poor heather graham lol she tried so hard to act good, but it just wasn’t gonna happen. Newayz, great gore and a nice twist to one of the oldest true serial killer stories of all time. The only thing that bothered me a little was when the killers eyes would turn black I guess to make him “scarier” it made no sense at all. But other than that good “whodunnit” horror film. Recommended.

One of my all time favorites. Everytime I watch it I pick up on something I missed before. Atmospheric, horrible and beautiful at the same time.

For the life of me, I can NOT get in to this movie. I want to like it, but it ain’t happening. I had the same problem with the graphic novel, even though I’m a huge fan of Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell independent of “From Hell”. Can’t pin it down.

Official Score: 3.5 / 5
