“Blade” is fun, even though it is nothing brilliant. Norrington balances the horror and action rather well, and this is arguably the most memorable character Wesley Snipes has, and ever will, play.

Perhaps my strongest negative of the film would be the choice of Stephen Dorff as a villain. He lacks that certain charisma and vile disposition you look for in a good “bad guy”.

Give “Blade” a look for some decent, gory, and high-octane fun on a weekend.

Great action movie. Great vampire movie. Well done and a great introduction to the series. Probably my favorite Marvel film, and it was their first one (of their new wave).

Well I didn’t really know what to expect but it was actually a lot better than I thought it would be! It had fantastic action from beginning to end! It was edge of your seat stuff. Yes the storyline was daft, but thats all part of the fun! It did get a bit daft and confusing towards the end though. But hey ho! Overall it was a great experience!

This movie was better when I saw it in the theaters when I was a kid. Not too bad though.

Blade is a action packed, blood spilling vampire movie. Wesley Snipes as the Daywalker is the personified vampire hunter – cool, calculating and with no mercy for vampires.

The CG effects are outstanding for the year they were made and they are not used to a extend that the movie gets boring to watch like a lot of other movies with extensive CG use.

The story is different to vampire movies because it shows the fight between the “true-blood” vampires (born as vampires) and the “half-blood” (bitten and turned humans) and the change of perspective and times in the vampire community. The vampire society is organized in three classes – true blood, half blood and familiars (servants of vampires still to be turned into vampires).

Deacan Frost searching the vampire bible for the blood god Lamagra using high tech and OCR techniques for his quest. Also other aspects of modern human life brought into the vampire community (blood parties in a butchery, Rave parties, etc.) and the life of the true-bloods as a contrast – hiding from humans, acting in the background, dealing with finances, shares, …

Very watchable movie with a lot of action.

Its one of the best Marvel movies EVER. Its probably THE single best action vampire flick EVER.

Its got it all. Amazingly choreographed action and special FX, hilarious comedy, lots of blood, tense drama, and wonderful performances from all actors / actresses involved.

Wesley Snipes true identity = Blade

He was born for this role. Seriously, the sole purpose of Wesley Snipes existence on this planet was to give us a live action portrayal of Blade.

The only thing tainting BLADE from true greatness is the fact that the 3rd film in the franchise is attrocious. They completeley ruined the Blade Universe with the 3rd movie. Do yourself a favor and watch Blade 1 and Blade 2, and stop there so you can leave without a bad taste in your mouth.

    BLADE!!!

Really did enjoy this film when it came out, sad to see the rest of the sequels were so poorly done.

Good Vampire film even thou I dont think Snipes can act his way out of a wet paper bag. My real rating is 7.5

I saw this in 2001 when I was in uniform and as far as I remember I didn’t like it. Ok, I admit: at that time I totally hated vampires and I also was a bit drunk while watching it.
Now 9 years later I rewatched it, sober and more tolerant towards vampires – still, it didn’t do much to me. It is an entertaining film but it’s sadly nothing special (and IMO horribly overrated).

There are many things that I really like about “Blade”:
the entertaining cast, Wesley Snipes’ outfit, the cool soundtrack, a decent plot, some terrific special effects and a couple of remarkable and unforgettable scenes (disco bloodbath, burnt vampire resurrection, end fight…).
But there are also many things I completely dislike about it:
many boring and tedious scenes (especially in the middle), unnecessary and lengthy dialogue, some terrible overacting from Snipes, some stupid over-the-top-action, horrible CGI blood and hardly any tension or suspense.

I’m not too keen on the sequels but I’m sure I’ll watch them in the next months – and I hope they are at least a little better.

    Is this movie stupid? Yes.

    Do I not care? Yes.

Do I not care because it features awesome action scenes and some so-bad-it’s-good dialouge? Yes.

Should you watch this movie if you are attracted by me saying this is a senseless but satisfying action flick? Yes.
