[TIFF '12] A Sneak Peek At ‘Come Out And Play’!

For the past six months, director Makinov‘s remake of the gritty 70′s film Who Can Kill A Child? was called Child’s Play. We all knew that wouldn’t fly, and the title has inevitably been changed to Come Out And Play. Oddly enough, no pics from it were released along with today’s announcement of TIFF’s Midnight Madness selections. But – last night – the official Midnight Madness Twitter account teased a couple of images and we figured we’d include them here. READ MORE

[TIFF '12] Midnight Madness Films Announced! ‘The Lords Of Salem’, ‘The ABC’s Of Death’, ‘Hellbenders 3D’ And More!!!

Holy sh*t! There’s obviously a lot of horror in the Midnight Madness selections of the Toronto International Film Festival, but I’m not sure if you were expecting this many big fish! For starters, we’ve got Rob Zombie‘s The Lords Of Salem. Next? The 26 director anthology The ABC’s Of Death. Not enough? How about Nicolas Lopez‘s Eli Roth/Selena Gomez starrer Aftershock. Still hungry? Then there’s JT Petty‘s Hellbenders 3D. READ MORE

Take The Expanded Ultimate Horror Challenge!!! How Do You Rank Now?

We have heard your cries! MANY of you felt that the The Ultimate Horror Challenge wasn’t comprehensive enough! So we included an additional 20 films that round it out a bit more. Many of these are from your suggestions! But this still isn’t a list of every horror movie ever made. And it still doesn’t contain every major work of every horror auteur (there’s still no John Carpenter’s They Live or Wes Craven’s The Last House On The Left). READ MORE

Take The Ultimate Horror Challenge!!! What’s Your Score?

This isn’t a list of every horror movie ever made. Nor does it contain every major work of every horror auteur (you’ll notice we didn’t include John Carpenter’s They Live or Wes Craven’s The Last House On The Left). Rather, this is a compendium of films that we feel – in one way or another – are essential viewing for every horror fan. Some are mainstream (Poltergeist), some aren’t (Cannibal Holocaust). It’s a broad sampling of key films from the genre. READ MORE

‘Child’s Play,’ The ‘Who Can Kill A Child?’ Remake, In Post-Production…

Screen Daily reports that Fox International Productions is hitting Cannes with Child’s Play – surely to be retiled when sold here in the States – the long-gestured remake of the 1976 Spanish thriller Who Can Kill A Child? that we exclusively reported on back in 2008 (it’s weird bragging now). OMFG of the Day: ‘Bride of Chucky’ Destroyed Oprah Winfrey’s Happiness (and Waistline)!

My friend Zak just sent me the greatest video interview of the year, maybe even the next decade. In her upcoming CNN interview with Piers Morgan, Oprah Winfrey reveals that the box-office performance of her 1998 Toni Morrison adaptation Beloved was the biggest failure of her life: ““I don’t want to call it a turkey, but it didn’t work, and it sent me into a massive, depressive macaroni and cheese-eating tailspin. Literally!” The blame? She points her finger at the Ronny Yu-directed Bride of Chucky, the fourth film in the Child’s Play franchise. Continued inside! (more…) READ MORE

NON-NEWS FLASH: MGM Still Holding Up ‘Child’s Play’ Remake

It’s a shame that after being announced in 2007 (yes, it really has been that long), nothing is still going on with the Child’s Play remake, which is being written and directed by series creator Don Mancini – if it ever happens, that is. The guys over at Screen Junkies got to chat with Mancini at a recent screening of Seed Of Chucky, where he updated them on the status of his long-gestating reboot. (more…) READ MORE

Kicking It Into High Gear: A Visit to the Set of ‘Hatchet II’

Back in January Bloody-Disgusting’s Chris Eggertsen had the chance to visit the set of Dark Sky Films’ upcoming Hatchet II, Adam Green’s sequel to the slasher film that became previous distributor Anchor Bay’s top-selling original title when it was released in 2007. While on set at Occidental Studios in L.A., Chris had the chance to speak with some of the film’s cast, including Danielle Harris, AJ Bowen, and Tom Holland, and got a behind-the-scenes look at the interior of Victor Crowley’s house. In addition, he narrowly escaped being pummeled by star Kane Hodder. Read on for his full set report. (more…) READ MORE

Brad Dourif Chit-Chats ‘Child’s Play’ Remake

Since unofficially announced way back in October of ’07, things have been relatively quiet for Child’s Play, the remake of the classic 80′s flick that creator Don Mancini has been scripting with plans of taking the helm. This weekend Brad Dourif – who played Charles Lee Ray (also known as Chucky) in the franchise – was on hand at a local horror convention where he confirmed that he will in fact once again play the voice of Chucky. He told fans that after hearing from a random guy at a drug store that he wasn’t returning, he called Mancini and asked, “Are you remaking ‘Child’s Play’?” Mancini exclaimed, “Yeah, you’re gonna do it, right?” Dourif screamed, “YES!” Although, no word on when Universal plans on putting this sucker into production. We’ll keep you posted as always. (more…) READ MORE
