We have heard your cries! MANY of you felt that the The Ultimate Horror Challenge wasn’t comprehensive enough! So we included an additional 20 films that round it out a bit more. Many of these are from your suggestions! But this still isn’t a list of every horror movie ever made. And it still doesn’t contain every major work of every horror auteur (there’s still no John Carpenter’s They Live or Wes Craven’s The Last House On The Left). READ MORE
This isn’t a list of every horror movie ever made. Nor does it contain every major work of every horror auteur (you’ll notice we didn’t include John Carpenter’s They Live or Wes Craven’s The Last House On The Left). Rather, this is a compendium of films that we feel – in one way or another – are essential viewing for every horror fan. Some are mainstream (Poltergeist), some aren’t (Cannibal Holocaust). It’s a broad sampling of key films from the genre. READ MORE

John McNaughton, the man behind the infamous Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, is back for more horror as he’ll be getting behind the camera for The Harvest, which is said to be a cross between horror and psychological thriller. Penned by Stephen Lacelotti, the film follows a doctor and nurse who are trying to adjust to a new life when their child is born with a debilitating disease. How far are they willing to go in order to save their only son’s life? He’s also developing Sweet for Peter Newman Productions, which follows Steve, an average teenager who happens to get kidnapped and raped by 2 delusional housewives. All Steve and his mother want is for his life to return to normal. (more…) READ MORE

What the f-ck is this? Seriously I cannot believe what I am reading. Takashi Miike’s Masters of Horror entry entitled Imprint is too shocking for Showtime audiences- too horrific. Wow, now that’s why Mick Garris has a show entitled Masters of Horror? Apparently, there were ‘fetuses’ involved in the pic… oh how could they! I seem to remember a lil movie caled Three… Extremes in which a woman east baby fetuses hitting theaters, maybe that should have been saved for DVD too? “Imprint” may go even further, and clearly represents something more than Showtime bargained for. “I think it’s amazing, but it’s even hard for me to watch,” said Mick Garris, the creator and executive producer of the series. “It’s definitely the most disturbing film I’ve ever seen.” It will now be released directly to the DVD market through IDT’s home video subsidiary, Anchor Bay Entertainment, along with the rest of the episodes in the series. No date has been announced. Read on for the full story… (more…) READ MORE
