Where’d You Go? 10 Horror Stars We Want Back!!!

I like me some horror movies and I’m guessing we have that in common since you’re visiting this blog. If you happened to stumble upon us whilst searching for something that was bloody and/or disgusting, sorry to disappoint, but why don’t you hang around for a while. You may even learn a thing or two. For those of us who have spent our lives watching people getting hacked to pieces by the occasional monster, mad scientist, demon, serial killer, or knife glove wielding haunter of dreams, we’ve all experienced our fair share of forgettable teens and the directors who manage them. Sure they can scream and many of them look good on camera, especially in that “let’s get in the freezing lake at night completely nude, naturally, and ignore the feeling we’re being watched from afar” kind of way but that isn’t what makes a memorable icon. Trailer: Do You Dare Push The Button in ‘The Box’?

Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko) is back without another bizarre spin on reality with The Box, which is based upon the short story “Button, Button” by Richard Matheson that was also a “Twilight Zone” episode. Today Warner Bros. Pictures released the first trailer for the film arriving in theaters October 30th. The footage looks really solid and carries a few creepy moments, but I am really, really getting sick of trailers using the Saw theme in them. (more…) READ MORE

Latest Viral Video Talks Donnie Darko’s Death

A brand new viral video was posted today from the “unknown film”, although this one straight out refers to “Donnie Darko’s death”, which makes it pretty clear that these are for Fox Home Entertainment’s forthcoming S. Darko: A Donnie Darko Tale, which now streets on May 12. The story picks up seven years after the first film (and Donnie’s death) when little sister Samantha Darko and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions. Official Poster for Richard Kelly’s ‘The Box’

Beyond the break you can check out the first one sheet for Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Box, which was directed by Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko) for release on October 30. However, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world…someone they don’t know. (more…) READ MORE

Richard Kelly Posts Some ‘Facts’ About His ‘Box’ Adaptation

Fans of Donnie Darko and (the few fans of) Southland Tales have a little something to look forward to as writer-director Richard Kelly’s The Box is finally hitting theaters on October 30 from Warner Bros. Pictures. The film looks pretty interesting as it’s based on the short story “Button, Button” by Richard Matheson that follows Norma and Arthur Lewis are a suburban couple with a young child who receive an anonymous gift bearing fatal and irrevocable consequences. A simple wooden box, it promises to deliver its owner $1 million with the press of a button — with consequences. This evening Kelly updated his official blog with some “facts” about the film, all of which can be read beyond the break. This looks like it’s gonna be a good one!! (more…) READ MORE

Update: First Look at the NEW Bunny Suit in ‘S. Darko’

Update: We’ve uploaded a handful of brand new hi-res images from the film inside. Regular visitors here at B-D know I’m a mega-fan of Richard Kelly’s Donnie Darko, so it should be of no surprise that I’ve been stalking the official website for the sequel, S. Darko (trailer), which hits DVD and Blu-ray on April 28 from Fox Home Entertainment. I got frustrated this evening as the website featured only the trailer — yet not everything is what is seems. Take some time and push your mouse around. If you force your cursor to the right you’ll find AIM icons, wallpapers (rocking one now) and a slew of first images! Woo! The story picks up seven years after the first film (and Donnie’s death) when little sister Samantha Darko and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions. UPDATE: Huge ‘Cabin in the Woods’ Casting News!

Update: Interesting update regarding this story beyond the break. Bloody-Disgusting was tipped off this evening that genre fav Jena Malone (Donnie Darko, The Ruins) has been tapped to topline MGM’s “top secret” horror project, The Cabin in the Woods, which was co-written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard, with Goddard set to also direct. Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford were the first announced to star last week. Much like CLOVERFIELD, which Goddard scripted, the CABIN story line provides a new twist on a classic scenario — in this case the young-people-stranded-in-the-woods horror trope. The film is said to be the horror movie to end all horror movies. CABIN IN THE WOODS is slated for release on February 05, 2010. (more…) READ MORE

Quirky Casting Continues in Fox’s ‘S. Darko’

One of the quirky little things that I love about Richard Kelly’s cult classic DONNIE DARKO was the odd casting of stars like Patrick Swayze; it looks as if 20th Century Fox is keeping the spirit of the franchise alive with some weird casting of their own. Inside you’ll find out the two latest people to join S. Darko, which is being directed by Chris Fisher. (more…) READ MORE
