This was a very shitty movie. All the stories werent even that good. Very boring and John Carpenter was so cheesey in that.

Horror anthology movies usually don’t turn out too well, but there have been some notable exceptions (Creepshow and Necronomicon were passable). Body Bags blows those film out of the water. This is a star-studded collection of horror tales that includes great acting, awesome cameos, and some brilliant screenwriting.
The first story in Body Bags is very tense, and has a great atmosphere to it, even if it is a little derivative. The second is quite comedic, and even though it’s the lesser of the bunch, it’s still very entertaining and relevant(the end was crappy, though). The third, starring Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) was the scariest, and I was on the edge of my seat throughout (I won’t give anything away). My only problem with the film is that it isn’t too polished – there are some continuation issues that you can’t help but notice, but it’s by no means harmful to the experience.
You should definitely see Body Bags if you’re a fan of horror movies in general, since chances are you’ve seen at least one film by the directors who participated in this movie. Great fun!

John Carpenter looks like the damn Crypt Keeper without any f/x. This movie was fun, especially if you are a big horror geek like myself. “Body Bags” has a great cast.
The problem is, the stories are too lightweight. John Carpenter directs the first two stories sufficiently and Tobe Hooper takes the last story: “The Eye”. “The Eye” really sucks. I think you can probably guess the ending of “The Eye” without even watching it. So…the movie drags serious ass towards the end.
This movie would be scary for a slumber party of ten-year old girls…maybe. It’s not much stronger than a good episode of Tales From The Darkside.
“Body Bags” definitely is not deserving of four and a half skulls.
On another note concerning horror anthologies as a genre: I think they are underutilized. I see a lot of stinkers that would have worked great as a fifteen to twenty minute short. Too many times a filmmaker has a great idea, but he is not capable of sustaining the plot nor the tension necessary for a horror film to actually work as a feature length. Also, it would be easier to get a short film financed than a feature length. Maybe, a group of independent filmmakers could pool their resources (meaning sharing equipment and talent, etc.) to get their name out there by make a horror anthology together. Sounds like a good idea to me.

A decent, if forgettable anthology flick hosted by John Carpenter himself. The first tale is probably the best; all in all it’s something to watch late at night with a couple of beers.

Official Score: 4.5 / 5
