I loved this film but it is one of those movies you watch like 2 to 3 times then never again.

Amazing film. Al Pacino as Satan is one of the greatest performances of all time. Great story, great movie. And surprisingly, Keanu is bearable in this.

this movie takes a drama (i guess) and adds horror elements to it to make an interesting movie.

i gotta say, i liked this film. the battle between good and evil, father and son was fun to watch. thought that Pacino was back, and Reeves was actually good. liked the story, was well written. and i thought that the ending was done pretty well. overall, worth watching. and who doesn’t want their father to actually become somebody? and that somebody be their father?

an awsome film, although i would say more of a thriller than a horror, its still spine-tingling and action packed. al pacino was the perfect choice to play the devil. i also like the dynamic of not only good vs evil but father vs son aswell.

A chilling portrayal of Satan on earth. Excellent psychological thriller and a fun watch.

I thought “The Devil’s Advocate” was a well-written psychological horror thriller that took a far-fetched idea about Satan running a lawyer-system and turned it in to be something quite entertaining and sometimes intense. I found the start to be quite slow with all this boring and dull speeches on court cases and lawyer tripe. I realise that it’s important to the film but I just found far too much of it. What I did like however was Charlize Theron’s spiral into complete madness and thought that some of those scenes were done incredibly effectively such as the sex scene between her and Keanu. It was intense and completely gripping!

I also liked the finale and thought Al Pacino put on a knock-out performance as Satan, and he truly was evil! Some sequences were really well edited such as the man from beetle juice’s death scene and Al Pacino going up to the font. I loved the choral music that juxtaposed with Satan too, it also added to the atmosphere, and it did get really entertaining at times, especially towards the end.

If we minus the dull lawyer speak that took up too much of the film, we have a brilliant and fun psychological thriller that combines some horrific themes and ideas. It’s also a brilliant metaphor for the judicial system, how all lawyers are evil and have little or no conscience. I loved Keanu’s journey and the final confrontation with the devil is a gripping and thrilling moment. All in all, an excellently crafted film, that should’ve made itself clearer.
